Mutual fund investment continues to play a very important role in the world financial markets especially in developing economies where the capital market is not very matured and tolerant of small scale investors.The total mutual fund asset globally as at the end of 2016 was in excess of$40.4 trillion.Despite its success there are uncertainties as to whether mutual funds in Ghana obtain optimal performance relative to their counterparts in United States,Luxembourg,Ireland,France,Australia,United Kingdom,Japan,China and Brazil.We contribute to the extant literature on mutual fund performance evaluation using a collection of more sophisticated econometric models.We selected six continuous historical years that is 2010-2011,2012-2013 and 2014-2015 to construct a mutual fund performance evaluation model utilizing the fast adaptive neural network classifier(FANNC),and to compare our results with those from an enhanced resilient back propagation neural networks(ERBPNN)model.Our FANNC model outperformed the existing models in terms of processing time and error rate.This makes it ideal for financial application that involves large volume of data and routine updates. 展开更多

Remote sensing images are hard to achieve high compression ratio because of their rich texture. By analyzing the influence of wavelet properties on image compression, this paper proposes wavelet construction rules and builds a new biorthogonal wavelet construction model with parameters. The model parameters are optimized by using genetic algorithm and adopting energy compaction as the optimization object function. In addition, in order to resolve the computation complexity problem of online construction, according to the image classification rule proposed in this paper we construct wavelets for different classes of images and implement the fast adaptive wavelet selection algorithm (FAWS). Experimental results show wavelet bases of FAWS gain better compression performance than Daubechies9/7. 展开更多

For the case that two pursuers intercept an evasive target,the cooperative strategies and state estimation methods taken by pursuers can seriously affect the guidance accuracy for the target,which performs a bang For the case that two pursuers intercept an evasive target,the cooperative strategies and state estimation methods taken by pursuers can seriously affect the guidance accuracy for the target,which performs a bang-bang evasive maneuver with a random switching time.Combined Fast multiple model adaptive estimation(Fast MMAE)algorithm,the cooperative guidance law takes detection configuration affecting the accuracy of interception into consideration.Introduced the detection error model related to the line-of-sight(LOS)separation angle of two interceptors,an optimal cooperative guidance law solving the optimization problem is designed to modulate the LOS separation angle to reduce the estimation error and improve the interception performance.Due to the uncertainty of the target bang-bang maneuver switching time and the effective fitting of its multi-modal motion,Fast MMAE is introduced to identify its maneuver switching time and estimate the acceleration of the target to track and intercept the target accurately.The designed cooperative optimal guidance law with Fast MMAE has better estimation ability and interception performance than the traditional guidance law and estimation method via Monte Carlo simulation. 展开更多

Although the genetic algorithm (GA) for structural optimization is very robust, it is very computationally intensive and hence slower than optimality criteria and mathematical programming methods. To speed up the design process, the authors present an adaptive reanalysis method for GA and its applications in the optimal design of trusses. This reanalysis technique is primarily derived from the Kirsch's combined approximations method. An iteration scheme is adopted to adaptively determine the number of basis vectors at every generation. In order to illustrate this method, three classical examples of optimal truss design are used to validate the proposed reanalysis-based design procedure. The presented numerical results demonstrate that the adaptive reanalysis technique affects very slightly the accuracy of the optimal solutions and does accelerate the design process, especially for large-scale structures. 展开更多

Aiming at the problem that the traditional control strategy of permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM)for electric vehicles has low control performance,a novel adaptive non-singular fast terminal sliding mode control(ANFTSMC)model predictive torque control(MPTC)strategy is proposed.A new adaptive exponential approach rate is designed,and the traditional switching function sgn()is replaced by the hyperbolic tangent function tanh().A new ANFTSMC with extended state observer(ESO)is constructed as the speed regulator of the system,and ESO can observe disturbances.This improved method weakens chattering and improves the robustness of the system.To realize sensorless control of the speed control system,an ESO speed observer based on tanh(Fal)is constructed.Compared with the traditional ESO based on Fal function,the observation error is smaller,and the observation accuracy is higher.Finally,aiming at the model predictive torque control strategy used,a new objective function construction method is proposed,which avoids the design of weight coefficient,and the traditional voltage vector selection method is improved and optimized,which reduces the calculation amount of the algorithm. 展开更多

This paper presents a novel Fault Tolerant Control(FTC)scheme based on accelerated Landweber iteration and redistribution mechanism for a horizontal takeoff horizontal landing reusable launch vehicle(RLV).First,an adaptive law based on fixed-time non-singular fast terminal sliding mode control(NFTSMC),which focuses on the attitude tracking controller design for RLV in the presence of model couplings,parameter uncertainties and external disturbances,is proposed to produce virtual control command.On this basis,a novel Control Allocation(CA)based on accelerated Landwber iteration is presented to realize proportional allocation of virtual control command among the actuators according to the effective gain as well as the distance from the current position of actuator to corresponding saturation limit.Meanwhile a novel redistribution mechanism is introduced to redistribute oversaturated command among healthy actuators(non-faulty or redundant).The proposed method can be applied to a real-time FTC system so that the controller reconfiguring is not required in case of actuator faults.Finally,the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by numerical simulations. 展开更多

In recent years,the eigenvoice approach has proven to be an efficient method for rapid speaker adaptation,which directs the adaptation according to the analysis of full speaker vector space.In this article,we developed a new algorithm for eigenspace-based adaptation restricting eigenvoices in clustered subspaces,and maximum likelihood(ML)criterion was replaced with maximum aposteriori(MAP)criterion for better parameter estimation.Experiments show that even with one sentence adaptation data this algorithm would result in 6.45%error ratio reduction relatively,which overcomes the instability of maximum likelihood linear regression(MLLR)with limited data and is much faster than traditional MAP method.This algorithm is not highly-dependent on subspace number of division,thus it proved to be a robust adaptation algorithm. 展开更多
