The characteristics of the extracted ion current have a significant impact on the design and testing of ion source performance.In this paper,a 2D in space and 3D in velocity space particle in cell(2D3V PIC)method is utilized to simulate plasma motion and ion extraction characteristics under various initial plasma velocity distributions and extraction voltages in a Cartesian coordinate system.The plasma density is of the order of 10^(15)m^(-3)-10^(16)m^(-3)and the extraction voltage is of the order of 100 V-1000 V.The study investigates the impact of various extraction voltages on the velocity and density distributions of electrons and positive ions,and analyzes the influence of different initial plasma velocity distributions on the extraction current.The simulation results reveal that the main reason for the variation of extraction current is the spacecharge force formed by the relative aggregation of positive and negative net charges.This lays the foundation for a deeper understanding of extraction beam characteristics. 展开更多

A simulation code,GOAT,is developed to simulate single-bunch intensity-dependent effects and their interplay in the proton ring of the Electron-Ion Collider in China(EicC)project.GOAT is a scalable and portable macroparticle tracking code written in Python and coded by object-oriented programming technology.It allows for transverse and longitudinal tracking,including impedance,space charge effect,electron cloud effect,and beam-beam interaction.In this paper,physical models and numerical approaches for the four types of high-intensity effects,together with the benchmark results obtained through other simulation codes or theories,are presented and discussed.In addition,a numerical application of the cross-talk simulation between the beam-beam interaction and transverse impedance is shown,and a dipole instability is observed below the respective instability threshold.Different mitigation measures implemented in the code are used to suppress the instability.The flexibility,completeness,and advancement demonstrate that GOAT is a powerful tool for beam dynamics studies in the EicC project or other high-intensity accelerators. 展开更多

A high power ion beam of 3 MW with 80 keV beam energy in 0.5 s beam duration and a long pulse ion beam of 4 s with 50 keV beam energy ion beam extraction were achieved on the EAST neutral beam injector on the teststand. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility and safety of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) combined with (+) low-dose external beam radiotherapy (LRT) as supplemental therapy for advanced prostate cancer (PCa) following hormonal therapy (HT). Our definition of HIFU+LRT refers to treating primary tumour lesions with HIFU in place of reduced field boost irradiation to the prostate, while retaining four-field box irradiation to the pelvis in conventional-dose external beam radiotherapy (CRT). We performed a prospective, controlled and non-randomized study on 120 patients with advanced PCa after HT who received HIFU, CRT, HIFU+LRT and HT alone, respectively. CT/MR imaging showed the primary tumours and pelvic lymph node metastases visibly shrank or even disappeared after HIFU +LRT treatment. There were significant differences among four groups with regard to overall survival (OS) and disease-specific survival (DSS) curves (P=0.018 and 0.015). Further comparison between each pair of groups suggested that the long-term DSS of the H IFU + LRT group was higher than those of the other three groups, but there was no significant difference between the HIFU+LRT group and the CRT group. Multivariable Cox's proportional hazard model showed that both HIFU+LRT and CRT were independently associated with DSS (P=0.001 and 0.035) and had protective effects with regard to the risk of death. Compared with CRT, HIFU +LRT significantly decreased incidences of radiation-related late gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) toxicity grade ≥ II. In conclusion, long-term survival of patients with advanced PCa benefited from strengthening local control of primary tumour and reRional lymph node metastases after HT. As an alternative to CRT, HIFU+LRT showed Rood efficacy and better safety. 展开更多

This paper studies numerically the thermo-mechanical effects of ZrO2 thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) irradiated by a high-intensity pulsed ion beam in consideration of the surface structure. Taking the deposited energy of ion beams in TBCs as the source term in the thermal conduction equation, the distribution of temperature in TBCs was simulated. Then, based on the distribution, the evolution of thermal stress was calculated by the finite element method. The results show that tensile radial stress formed at the valley of TBC surfaces after irradiation by HIPIB. Therefore, if cracks happen, they must be at valleys instead of peaks. As for the stress waves, no matter whether through peak or valley position, tensile and compressive stresses are present alternately inside TBCs along the depth direction, and the strength of stress decreases with time. 展开更多

A feature extraction method was proposed to sectorial scan image of Ti-6Al-4V electron beam welding seam based on principal component analysis to solve problem of high-dimensional data resulting in timeconsuming in defect recognition. Seven features were extracted from the image and represented 87. 3% information of the original data. Both the extracted features and the original data were used to train support vector machine model to assess the feature extraction performance in two aspects: recognition accuracy and training time. The results show that using the extracted features the recognition accuracy of pore,crack,lack of fusion and lack of penetration are 93%,90.7%,94.7% and 89.3%,respectively,which is slightly higher than those using the original data. The training time of the models using the extracted features is extremely reduced comparing with those using the original data. 展开更多

The high-temperature oxidation resistance behavior of 7% (mass fraction) Y203-ZrO2 thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) irradiated by high-intensity pulsed ion beam (HIPIB) was investigated under the cyclic oxidation condition of 1 050 ℃ and 1 h. The columnar grains in the TBCs disappear after the HIPIB irradiation at ion current densities of 100-200 A/cm^2 and the irradiated surface becomes smooth and densified after remelting and ablation due to the HIPIB irradiation. The thermally grown oxide (TGO) layer thickness of the irradiated TBCs is smaller than that of the original TBCs. After 15 cycles, the mass gains of the original TBCs and those irradiated by ion current densities of 100 and 200 A/cm^2 due to the oxidation are found to be 0.8-0.9, 0.6-0.7, and 0.3-0.4 mg/cm^2, respectively. The inward diffusion of oxygen through the irradiated TBCs is significantly impeded by the densified top layer formed due to irradiation, which is the main reason for the improved overall oxidation resistance of the irradiated TBCs. 展开更多

Interaction between high-intensity pulsed ion beam (HIPIB) and a double-layer target with titanium film on top of aluminum substrate was simulated. The two-dimensional nonlinear thermal conduction equations, with the deposited energy in the target taken as source term, were derived and solved by finite differential method. As a result, the two-dimensional spatial and temporal evolution profiles of temperature were obtained for a titanium/aluminum double-layer target irradiated by a pulse of HIPIB. The effects of ion beam current density on the phase state of the target materials near the film and substrate interface were analyzed. Both titanium and aluminum were melted near the interface after a shot when the ion beam current density fell in the range of 100 A/cm2 to 200 A/cm2. 展开更多

Tune ripple has a significant influence on beam spill ripple in RF-knockout(RF-KO)slow extraction.In this study,a model was proposed to explain how the tune ripple affects the beam spill in RF-KO slow extraction;consequently,a simulation was performed using the lattice of the Xi’an Proton Application Facility(XiPAF)synchrotron to verify the model.The simulation demonstrates that the tune ripple influences the beam spill in two ways.On the one hand,the tune ripple causes a direct fluctuation in the separatrix area,which induces beam spill ripple.On the other hand,the tune ripple influences the emittance growth rate in RF-knockout slow extraction.These two aspects simultaneously contribute to the beam spill ripple. 展开更多

A 16 kV/20 A power supply was developed for the extraction grid of prototype radio frequency(RF) ion source of neutral beam injector. To acquire the state signals of extraction grid power supply(EGPS) and control the operation of the EGPS, a data acquisition and control system has been developed. This system mainly consists of interlock protection circuit board, photoelectric conversion circuit, optical fibers, industrial compact peripheral component interconnect(CPCI) computer and host computer. The human machine interface of host computer delivers commands and data to program of the CPCI computer, as well as offers a convenient client for setting parameters and displaying EGPS status. The CPCI computer acquires the status of the power supply. The system can turn-off the EGPS quickly when the faults of EGPS occur. The system has been applied to the EGPS of prototype RF ion source. Test results show that the data acquisition and control system for the EGPS can meet the requirements of the operation of prototype RF ion source. 展开更多

The High Energy Photon Source(HEPS)is a 6 GeV diffraction-limited storage ring light source under construction.The swap-out injection is adopted with the depleted bunch recycled via high-energy accumulation in the booster.The extremely high beam energy density of the bunches with an ultra-low emittance(about 30 pm horizontally and 3 pm vertically)and high bunch charges(from 1.33 to 14.4 nC)extracted from the storage ring could cause hazardous damage to the extraction Lambertson magnet in case of extraction kicker failure.To this end,we proposed the use of a pre-kicker to spoil the bunches prior to extraction,significantly reducing the maximum beam energy density down to within a safe region while still maintaining highly efficient extractions.The main parameters of the pre-kicker are simulated and discussed. 展开更多

In order to achieve accurate treatment, high-quality spill is needed. Therefore,parameters that may affect slow extraction should be investigated by simulation. A computer model of the synchrotron operation slow extraction was constructed with MATLAB~. By simulating the motion of the circulating protons, we could quantify the influence of machine and initial beam parameters on properties of the extracted beam, such as ripple, uniformity, stability, on-and off-time of the spill and spill width in the synchrotron.Suitable design parameters including the horizontal tunes,power supply ripple, longitudinal RF cavity voltage, RFKO and the chromaticities were determined. 展开更多

Terrain matching accuracy and real-time performance are affected by local underwater terrain features and structure of matching surface. To solve the extraction problem of local terrain features for underwater terrain-aided navigation (UTAN), real-time data model and selection method of beams are proposed. Then, an improved structure of terrain storage is constructed, and a fast interpolation strategy based on index is proposed, which can greatly improve the terrain interpolation–reconstruction speed. Finally, for the influences of tide, an elimination method of reference depth deviation is proposed, which can reduce the reference depth errors caused by tidal changes. As the simulation test shows, the proposed method can meet the requirements of real-time performance and effectiveness. Furthermore, the extraction time is considerably reduced, which makes the method suitable for the extraction of local terrain features for UTAN. 展开更多

Western Canada’s oil sands hold the third-largest hydrocarbon deposits in the world.Bitumen,a very heavy petroleum,is currently recovered by surface mining with warm water or in situ.Recovery processes that use organic solvents are being developed to reduce water usage and tailings production.While solvent-based methods can effectively extract bitumen,removal of residual fine solids from diluted bitumen product(DBP)to meet the pipeline transport requirement of<0.5 wt%solids and water in DBP remains a major challenge.We propose a novel area of application of polymer flocculants for fine solids removal from DBP.In principle,polymer flocculants can be applied to help remove these residual solids in conjunction with physical separation processes to increase process effectiveness and energy efficiency.Several polymers are selected and screened for flocculation behavior using kaolinite suspended in DBP and toluene,as a model system.Focused beam reflectance measurements and force tensiometer techniques are used to determine flocculation and sedimentation in DBP.The observed flocculation and sedimentation rate enhancements indicate that the polymers tested have only minor effects,providing opportunities for advanced polymer development.These findings exemplify the challenges in identifying polymers that may be effective as flocculants in heavy petroleum media. 展开更多

煤矿井下掘锚装备智能化是改善行业采掘失衡问题的关键,而掘锚装备的精确定位是实现其智能化的前提。与其他传统定位方法相比,基于视觉的位姿测量方法以其无接触、无累计误差的优势在煤矿井下得到了初步的应用。针对目前煤矿井下掘进工... 煤矿井下掘锚装备智能化是改善行业采掘失衡问题的关键,而掘锚装备的精确定位是实现其智能化的前提。与其他传统定位方法相比,基于视觉的位姿测量方法以其无接触、无累计误差的优势在煤矿井下得到了初步的应用。针对目前煤矿井下掘进工作面掘锚装备视觉定位方法存在的合作标靶结构复杂、标定繁琐的问题,结合掘进工作面原有激光指向仪特征,提出一种基于单激光束信息的掘锚装备视觉定位方法。该方法通过分析激光指向仪光斑及光束图像特征,提出了一种基于二维反正切函数拟合的激光光斑中心提取方法和基于Hough直线检测的激光束中心线提取方法,构建了基于点线特征的双目视觉位姿解算模型,得出了掘锚装备在巷道中的实时位姿。最后,为了验证提出的特征提取方法和视觉定位方法的可行性和准确性,在实验室模拟掘进工作面工况环境搭建平台进行了试验。结果表明:基于矿用激光指向仪信息的掘锚装备视觉定位方法具有较高的位姿测量精度。在50 m的测试范围内,机身位置在巷道坐标系下沿X轴、Y轴和Z轴的平均测量误差分别为25.44、58.64、31.08 mm,其最大误差分别为55.16、127.39、63.57 mm;机身姿态在巷道坐标系下的俯仰角、偏航角和横滚角的平均测量误差分别为0.22°、0.22°、0.41°,其最大误差分别为0.29°、0.37°、0.58°。满足煤矿井下巷道施工的定位精度要求。 展开更多

Micro LED器件具有高亮度、低功耗和高可靠性等优点,但Micro LED显示像素巨量转移和光提取效率低的问题为其应用带来挑战。开发了具有高转移效率和出光效率的单片64×64 Micro LED微显示阵列,提出了倒装型GaN基单片Micro LED微显示阵列芯片和Si基驱动电路的设计方法及集成工艺。通过时域有限差分(FDTD)方法对Micro LED微显示阵列光学特性进行了建模分析,设计了一种提高Micro LED微显示阵列出光效率的光提取结构。结合仿真结果,开发了一种在Micro LED蓝宝石衬底表面制备光子晶体结构的聚焦离子束(FIB)微纳加工工艺,并进行了器件加工。测试结果表明,蓝宝石衬底上加工的光子晶体结构可以提高Micro LED器件的表面出光效率,光功率平均值提升了16.36%,对Micro LED微显示阵列加工及微显示像素光提取问题具有借鉴意义。 展开更多
