Enzyme preparation was added in the diet of treatment group at dosage of 1 g/kg. The blood samples were collected from 60 day-old goslings via the wing vein. During the fifty-three days experiment, body weights were adopted measured each week, related hormone contents and biochemical parameters in plasma were determined. The results were as following:(1) Compared with control, body weight of treatment group were significantly higher (P<0.05) since 3-week-old goslings. The weight gains were significant higher (P<0.05) in (4~7) week-old goslings too, feed intake were increased and the "feed: body weight gain" was decreased; (2) Compared with control, growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) levels were dramatically enhanced by 36.62% (P<0.01) and 66.55% (P<0.01) respectively, while the level of β-endorphin (β-END) decreased by 51.66% (P<0.01); (3) Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and 3,3′,5-triiodothyronine (T3) contents in treatment group were 24.39% (P<0.05) and (16.81%) (P<0.05) higher than those of control, whereas thyroxine (T4) contents was lower by 18.33% (P<0.05), ratios of T3/T4 were increased; (4) Compared with control, insulin contents were elevated by 36.75% (P<0.01), while level of glucagon was reduced by 23.11% (P<0.01),ratios of insulin/glucagon were increased; (5) The activity of glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (GTP) was 4.46 fold higher than those of control (P<0.01) and uric acid content was reduced by 57.50% (P<0.01).These results indicate that enzyme preparation added in barley based diet can promote the gosling growth by improving the barely digestibility, carbohydrate metabolism and influencing the hormone levels.展开更多

Hence, in the present study, an attempt was made to investigate the levels of plasma HbA1c, serum insulin resistance and levels of serum sex hormones in men and women of control and type 2 diabetic patients. Also, the present study aimed to explored the correlation coefficient (r) between insulin resistance and level of HbA1c, FSH, LH, Tt, progesterone and estradiol in men and women patients with NIDDM. Methods: One hundred Iraqi volunteers with abdominal obesity were selected in the present study. Fifty diabetic patients with NIDDM (26 men, and 24 women) aged between (37) and (65) years and 50 healthy individuals (25 men, and 25 women) aged between (36) and (65) years considered as control group. Complete medical history was taken from each subject and complete clinical examinations were performed for all volunteers. Then, the two groups were matched for their fasting blood sugar, BMI, insulin hormone;c-peptide, HbA1c, sex hormones and insulin resistance parameters (HOMA2-IR, HOMA%B and HOMA%S) were calculated using HOMA2 calculator software. Results: We found that insulin resistance demonstrated negative correlations (p 0.05) with levels of serum follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), total testosterone, progesterone and estradiol. While, there was a positive and significant correlation (p 0.01) with value of HbA1c in men and women NIDDM patients. Conclusion: We conclude that an increase in the level of insulin resistance is associated with increased level of blood HbA1c and decreased in level of serum sex hormones (FSH, LH, Tt, E2 and progesterone) in men and women of diabetic group. These behaviors might suggest that insulin resistance can be used as a potential biomarker for predicting dysfunction of sex hygiene in NIDDM patients in addition to glycemic control.展开更多

A total of 120 PCOS patients were enrolled and divided into three groups in terms of the ovarian response: a low-response group(n=36), a normal-response group(n=44), and a high-response group(n=40). The serum AMH and INHB levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). The follicle stimulating hormone(FSH), luteinizing hormone(LH), and estradiol(E2) levels were determined by chemiluminescence microparticle immunoassay. The correlation of the serum AMH and INHB levels with other indicators was analyzed. A receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was established to analyze the prediction of ovarian response by AMH and INHB. The results showed that there were significant differences in age, body mass index(BMI), FSH, total gonadotropin-releasing hormone(Gn RH), LH, E2, and antral follicle counts(AFCs) between the groups(P<0.05). The serum AMH and INHB levels were increased significantly with the ovarian response of PCOS patients increasing(P<0.05). The serum AMH and INHB levels were negatively correlated with the age, BMI, FSH level, Gn, and E2 levels(P<0.05). They were positively correlated with the LH levels and AFCs(P<0.05). ROC curve analysis of serum AMH and INHB in prediction of a low ovarian response showed that the area under the ROC curve(AUC) value of the serum AMH level was 0.817, with a cut-off value of 1.29 ng/m L. The sensitivity and specificity were 71.2% and 79.6%, respectively. The AUC value of serum INHB was 0.674, with a cut-off value of 38.65 ng/m L, and the sensitivity and specificity were 50.7% and 74.5%, respectively. ROC curve analysis showed when the serum AMH and INHB levels were used to predict a high ovarian response, the AUC value of the serum AMH level was 0.742, with a cut-off value of 2.84 ng/m L, and the sensitivity and specificity were 72.7% and 65.9%, respectively; the AUC value of the serum INHB level was 0.551 with a cut-off of 45.76 ng/m L, and the sensitivity and specificity were 76.3% and 40.2%, respectively. It was suggested the serum AMH and INHB levels have high clinical value in predicting the ovarian response of PCOS patients.展开更多

Although there is no information about the differential effect of such hormone, two possibilities are that it depends on (a) the immune marker recorded and (b) sexual differences. Here, three commonly used immune markers, Phenoloxidase (PO), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), and lytic activity, were measured 3, 6 and 24 hours after administration of methoprene (JHa, an analog of juvenile hormone) in male and female monarch butterflies (Danaus plexippus). At 3 and 6 h post-JHa administration, the PO activity increased in females but it only increased at 3 h in males, whereas H2O2 levels increased only in females at 3 h. For the remaining times the JHa had a null effect on POand H2O2. On the other hand, the JHa had a null effect for lytic activity in both sexes at 3, 6 and 24 h. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a positive effect of a JHa onPOand H2O2 and suggests that this effect is sex dependent.展开更多

The hepatic GSH content was significantly inhibited by organic pollutants, alone and in mixtures, while the TBARS content was significantly induced after three days of exposure. Bell-shaped concentration-response charts of GST activities were obtained. Significant dose-response relationships were found for hepatic GSH and TBARS contents of all concentrations and for the GST activity, except at the highest concentration. The GSH content, GST activity, and TBARS content in Carassius auratus were confirmed as useful biomarkers of exposure to organic pollutions.展开更多

The weight gains were significant higher (P<0.05) in (4~7) week-old goslings too, feed intake were increased and the "feed: body weight gain" was decreased; (2) Compared with control, growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) levels were dramatically enhanced by 36.62% (P<0.01) and 66.55% (P<0.01) respectively, while the level of β-endorphin (β-END) decreased by 51.66% (P<0.01); (3) Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and 3,3′,5-triiodothyronine (T3) contents in treatment group were 24.39% (P<0.05) and (16.81%) (P<0.05) higher than those of control, whereas thyroxine (T4) contents was lower by 18.33% (P<0.05), ratios of T3/T4 were increased; (4) Compared with control, insulin contents were elevated by 36.75% (P<0.01), while level of glucagon was reduced by 23.11% (P<0.01),ratios of insulin/glucagon were increased; (5) The activity of glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (GTP) was 4.46 fold higher than those of control (P<0.01) and uric acid content was reduced by 57.50% (P<0.01).These results indicate that enzyme preparation added in barley based diet can promote the gosling growth by improving the barely digestibility, carbohydrate metabolism and influencing the hormone levels.
文摘Objective: The association between type 2 diabetes mellitus and certain endocrine disorders has the paucity of information and limited data in the province of Meisan (southern of Iraq). These behaviors might suggest that insulin resistance can be used as a potential biomarker for predicting dysfunction of sex hygiene in NIDDM patients in addition to glycemic control.
文摘The present study aimed to investigate the clinical value of serum anti-mullerian hormone(AMH) and inhibin B(INHB) in predicting the ovarian response of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS). It was suggested the serum AMH and INHB levels have high clinical value in predicting the ovarian response of PCOS patients.
文摘Objective:To study the protective effect of perioperative recombinant human growth hormone (r-hGH) application on intestinal mucosal barrier function in patients with intestinal obstruction and the influence on the immune inflammatory response.Methods:60 patients with intestinal obstruction who underwent surgical treatment in our hospital between February 2013 and July 2016 were selected as the research subjects and divided into the control group (n=34) who received conventional surgical treatment and the observation group (n=26) who received surgery combined with perioperative r-hGH treatment. The serum levels of intestinal mucosal barrier indexes, immunoglobulin and inflammatory response indicators were compared between two groups of patients before and after treatment. Results: Before treatment, differences in serum levels of intestinal mucosal barrier indexes, immunoglobulin and inflammatory response indicators were not statistically significant between the two groups of patients. After treatment, serum intestinal mucosal barrier indexes Endotoxin, D-Lactate and DAO levels in observation group were lower than those in control group, immunoglobulin IgA, IgM and IgG levels were higher than those in control group, and inflammatory response indicators IL-1, IL-6, PCT and TNF-α levels were lower than those in control group patients. Conclusion:Perioperative r-hGH application in patients with intestinal obstruction can protect the intestinal mucosal barrier, also optimize the humoral immunity and suppress the systemic inflammatory response.

文摘In insects, juvenile hormone (JH) decreases or has any effect upon the phenoloxidase (PO) activity, and favors or decreases the Antimicrobial Peptides (AMPs) expression. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a positive effect of a JHa onPOand H2O2 and suggests that this effect is sex dependent.

文摘The freshwater fish Carassius auratus was chosen as an experimental subject, and their hepatic biochemical responses to the medium-term exposure of Benzo(k)fluoranthene (BkF) alone and in combination with PCB118 and dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) were investigated by measuring the reduced glutathione (GSH), glutathione S-transferase (GST), and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), to assess sublethal effects. The GSH content, GST activity, and TBARS content in Carassius auratus were confirmed as useful biomarkers of exposure to organic pollutions.
文摘Objective:To speculate which of the following parameters:antral follicle count(AFC),anti-Müllerian hormone(AMH),follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH)and age can be used as a predictor of ovarian response to gonadotropin-releasing hormone(GnRH)antagonist stimulation multiple-dose protocol in women under 45 years, and to determine the cutoff value of these parameters and their correlations for predicting low and high ovarian response. Methods:This prospective study included 462 women with the mean age of(29.3±6.5)years.All women were subjected to the GnRH antagonist stimulation multiple-dose protocol. On the second day of the menstrual cycle, ultrasonography was conducted to determine AFC in both ovaries.Peripheral blood samples were collected to evaluate the level of estradiol,FSH,luteinizing hormone,prolactin,thyroid-stimulating hormone, and AMH.The women were divided into three groups:low response(AHH<1 ng/mL,n=173),normal response(AMH=1.0-3.5 ng/mL,n=175),and high response(AMH>3.5 ng/mL,n=114).Results:A significant decrease was found in the age and FSH level in the high response group compared to other groups(P<0.001).Conversely,a significant increase was shown in AMH,estradiol on human chorionic gonadotropin(hCG)day,AFC,mature oocytes, fertilized oocytes, and embryos transferred in the high response group compared to the other two groups(P<0.001).The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves demonstrated that AFC and AMH had the highest accuracy, followed by basal FSH level and age in the prediction of low ovarian reserves(P<0.001)with cutoff values of≤4.50 and≤0.95 for AFC and AMH,respectively. Moreover, the ROC analysis showed that AFC had the highest accuracy, followed by AMH level and age in the prediction of high ovarian reserves with a cutoff value of≥14.50,≥3.63,and≤27.50 years,respectively(P<0.01).A significant decrease was observed in women's age, estradiol level, and oocyte fertilization rate in pregnant women compared to non-pregnant women(P<0.001).Additionally,significant negative correlations were found between the AFC,the number of mature oocytes, fertilized oocytes, embryos transferred, and the age of pregnant women(P<0.001).Conclusions:AFC and AMH predict low and high ovarian response to GnRH antagonist stimulation multiple-dose protocol in women under 45 years.
文摘Objective:To investigate the correlation of sex hormones with adipocytokines and bone metabolism biochemical indexes in women with menopausal osteoporosis. Methods: A total of 118 female patients who were diagnosed with menopausal osteoporosis in the West China Second University Hospital of Sichuan University between September 2015 and October 2017 were selected as menopausal osteoporosis group, and 100 menopausal women with normal bone density who received medical examination in the West China Second University Hospital of Sichuan University during the same period were selected as normal control group. The contents of sex hormones, adipocytokines and bone metabolism biochemical indexes in peripheral blood were compared between two groups of women, and Pearson test was used to evaluate the correlation between sex hormones and disease severity in women with menopausal osteoporosis. Results: E2 content in the peripheral blood of menopausal osteoporosis group was significantly lower than that of control group whereas FSH and LH contents were not significantly different from those of control group;Resistin and chemerin contents in peripheral blood were higher than those of control group whereas LEP and Visfatin contents were lower than those of control group;OC, NBAP, TRACP and ICTP contents in peripheral blood were significantly higher than those of control group. Pearson test showed that the sex hormone E2 content in women with menopausal osteoporosis was directly correlated with the contents of adipocytokines and bone metabolism biochemical indexes. Conclusion: The sex hormone expression is abnormal in women with menopausal osteoporosis, and the specific abnormal level can objectively reflect the condition of osteoporosis.
