METHODS: One hundred consecutive patients admitted for first-onset ascites were randomized to receive diuretics plus human albumin 25 g/wk in the first year and 25 g every two wk thereafter (group 1) or diuretics alone (group 2). The primary endpoint was survival without liver transplantation. Secondary endpoints were recurrence of ascites and occurrence of other complications. RESULTS: Median follow-up was 84 (2-120) mo. Albu- min-treated patients had significantly greater cumulative survival rate (Breslow test= 7.05, P= 0.0078) and lower probability of ascites recurrence (51% versus 94%, P〈0.0001). Chronic albumin infusion resulted in a mean increase in survival of 16 mo. CONCLUSION: Long-term albumin administration after first-onset ascites significantly improves patients' survival and decreases the risk of ascites recurrence.展开更多

Ilomastat treatment increased the survival of mice after TBI. Ilomastat pretreatment promoted recovery of hematological and immunological cells in mice after 6 Gy γ-ray TBI. Our findings suggest the potential of ilomastat to protect against or mitigate the effects of radiation.展开更多

In this paper, a hybrid procedure is introduced to reduce the damage of the plugging agent to low and medium permeability zones and the penetration radius of acid into high permeability zones. The procedure is: First inject plugging agent to block high permeability zones, and then inject acid to remove plugging agent damage from the low and medium permeability zones and stimulate them. To perform this procedure successfully, three kinds of plugging agents, namely strong strength plugging agent for the wells with fractures or high permeability streaks, weak gel for those with thick layer in which serious heterogeneity exists, temporary plugging agent for those in which the absorption ability of high permeability zones needs maintaining, were screened out for use in different reservoirs. Several acid systems were evaluated to be compatible with the three kinds of plugging agents. The objectives of this paper are:(1)To show the screen results about the compatible plugging agent and acid; 2 To show how to optimize the operation process;(3)To tell some experience gained ( ) from the oilfield applications of this technique. From Jan. 2001 to Dec. 2002, 46 operations using this procedure were carried out in Weicheng and Mazhai Oilfields of SINOPEC. Results show that the average benefit/cost ratio is over 3.5. Motor and sensory function was tested using Garcia’s scale and motor weakness grading, and the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor in the brain was quantified using immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry. We found that scalp electroacupuncture at DU 20 significantly improved motor performance and sensory function in rats with stroke, and this was accompanied by an increased expression of vascular endothelial growth factor in the ischemic brain tissue and peri-ischemic area. In addition, Pearson correlation analysis showed that the improvements in functional recovery were correlated with the increased expression of vascular endothelial growth factor.展开更多

At our c...BACKGROUND Intervention to improve outcomes in cirrhotic patients (CP) after hospital discharge often focus on 30 d readmission rate (RR). However, recent studies suggest dissociation between RR and survival. At our center, CP are now offered outpatient telephonic transitional care (OTTC) by a care coordinator for 30 d after hospital discharge. AIM To determine the effect of OTTC on survival in CP. METHODS In this cohort study from a tertiary center, CP who received OTTC formed the intervention group. They were compared with a control group discharged during the same period. Mortality and RR were compared between the groups. RESULTS After OTTC introduction, 194 CP were discharged. After applying exclusion criteria, 169 CP (51% male, mean age 58 years ± 12 years) were included. OTTC group comprised 76 patients and was compared with 93 controls. Baseline disease and index admission related characteristics were not significantly different between the groups. The intervention group showed significantly higher 6 mo survival compared to controls (84.2% vs 68.8%;P = 0.03), while RR at 1, 3, and 6 mo were comparable. On multivariable analysis, the intervention group showed lower odds for mortality compared to the controls (hazard ratio: 0.4;95% confidence interval: 0.2-0.82;P = 0.012), while higher model for endstage liver disease scores were associated with higher mortality (hazard ratio: 1.05;95% confidence interval: 1.01-1.1;P = 0.024).CONCLUSION CP provided OTTC had higher 6 mo survival compared to controls without a difference in RR. Use of RR to gauge quality of care provided during hospitalization or subsequent transitional care programs should be revisited.展开更多
Organic mulch can improve the moisture,chemical composition,dust,and dust suppression of soil,and beautify the environment.In view of the rapid evaporation rate and serious loss of soil water in tropical areas,this pa...Organic mulch can improve the moisture,chemical composition,dust,and dust suppression of soil,and beautify the environment.In view of the rapid evaporation rate and serious loss of soil water in tropical areas,this paper explored the effect of organic mulch materials with different thickness on the increase of soil water retention rate and the improvement of soil water loss caused by evaporation.Rubberwood sawdust(RWS),rubberwood bark(RWB),coconut fiber(CF),and Mulch(MC)were selected as the mulching materials.Field experiment and laboratory experiment were performed,and soil-moisture content and temperature were continuously monitored.However,from the daily measurement of water content at constant conditions(29℃±0.2℃,74%±1%air RH)in the laboratory experiment,the results of variance analysis(ANOVA)showed that there was no significant difference between the soil-water content of covered samples and bare soil(P>0.05).In the field experiments,the analysis of variance indicated significant differences in the soil-moisture content owing to the effect of the covering material(P<0.01).Mulching increased the soil-moisture content with smaller fluctuations in the deep soil compared with bare soil.The most stable soil-moisture content were achieved by RWS,RWB,CF,and MC,with thicknesses of 5,3,7,and 5 cm,respectively,compared with bare soil,and the average water contents of the 0-40 cm soil layer was 0.58%,0.01%,0.82%,and 0.93%,respectively.Vertically,the intensity of the change in soil moisture decreased gradually with increasing depth,and was more stable than that of bare soil and other treatments.Among them,the difference in water content between the adjacent gradient soil layers(the soil layers are graded every 10 cm in depth)M_(3-7)(0.011±0.004)was the smallest.It can be concluded that CF mulching materials with a thickness of 7 cm would be preferable when selecting mulching materials for controlling soil moisture in tropical cities.展开更多
[Objectives]This study aimed to study the sleep-improving effect of Anshen Babu ointment on insomnia mice and its mechanism of action.[Methods]Mouse models of insomnia were established by p-chlorophenylalanine(PCPA)in...[Objectives]This study aimed to study the sleep-improving effect of Anshen Babu ointment on insomnia mice and its mechanism of action.[Methods]Mouse models of insomnia were established by p-chlorophenylalanine(PCPA)injection.They were given high,middle and low doses of Anshen Babu ointment,for 7 consecutive days,and then,the spontaneous activity of insomnia mice and the effect on hypnotic time and subthreshold hypnotic dose of pentobarbital sodium were observed,and the levels of 5-HT,IL-6 and TNF-α in the hippocampus of mice were determined.[Results]High and middle-dose Anshen Babu ointment significantly reduced the spontaneous activity of insomnia mice and shorten the hypnotic time of pentobarbital sodium;high and middle-dose Anshen Babu ointment increased the 5-HT content and inhibited the IL-6 and TNF-α expression in the hippocampus of mice.[Conclusions]Anshen Babu ointment has hypnotic and sedative effect on insomnia mice.The mechanism may be achieved by increasing 5-HT and reducing IL-6 and TNF-α levels.展开更多
The unscientific application of synthetic pesticides has brought various negative effects on the environment,hindering the sustainable development of agriculture.Nanoparticles can be applied as carriers to improve pes...The unscientific application of synthetic pesticides has brought various negative effects on the environment,hindering the sustainable development of agriculture.Nanoparticles can be applied as carriers to improve pesticide delivery,showing great potential in the development of pesticide formulation in recent years.Herein,a star polymer(SPc)was constructed as an efficient pesticide nanocarrier/adjuvant that could spontaneously assemble with thiocyclam or monosultap into a complex,through hydrophobic association and hydrogen bonding,respectively,with the pesticide-loading contents of 42.54%and 19.3%.This complexation reduced the particle sizes of thiocyclam from 543.54 to 52.74 nm for pure thiocyclam,and 3814.16 to 1185.89 nm for commercial preparation(cp)of thiocyclam.Interestingly,the introduction of SPc decreased the contact angles of both pure and cp thiocyclam on plant leaves,and increased the plant uptake of cp thiocyclam to 2.4–1.9 times of that without SPc.Meanwhile,the SPc could promote the bioactivity of pure/cp thiocyclam against green peach aphids through leaf dipping method and root application.For leaf dipping method,the 50%lethal concentration decreased from 0.532 to 0.221 g/L after the complexation of pure thiocyclam with SPc,and that decreased from 0.390 to 0.251 g/L for cp thiocyclam.SPc seems a promising adjuvant for nanometerization of both pure and cp insecticides,which is beneficial for improving the delivery efficiency and utilization rate of pesticides.展开更多

Jet grouting is one of the most popular soil improvement techniques,but its design usually involves great uncertainties that can lead to economic cost overruns in construction projects.The high dispersion in the prope...Jet grouting is one of the most popular soil improvement techniques,but its design usually involves great uncertainties that can lead to economic cost overruns in construction projects.The high dispersion in the properties of the improved material leads to designers assuming a conservative,arbitrary and unjustified strength,which is even sometimes subjected to the results of the test fields.The present paper presents an approach for prediction of the uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)of jet grouting columns based on the analysis of several machine learning algorithms on a database of 854 results mainly collected from different research papers.The selected machine learning model(extremely randomized trees)relates the soil type and various parameters of the technique to the value of the compressive strength.Despite the complex mechanism that surrounds the jet grouting process,evidenced by the high dispersion and low correlation of the variables studied,the trained model allows to optimally predict the values of compressive strength with a significant improvement with respect to the existing works.Consequently,this work proposes for the first time a reliable and easily applicable approach for estimation of the compressive strength of jet grouting columns.展开更多

文摘[Objectives]This study aimed to study the sleep-improving effect of Anshen Babu ointment on insomnia mice and its mechanism of action.[Methods]Mouse models of insomnia were established by p-chlorophenylalanine(PCPA)injection.They were given high,middle and low doses of Anshen Babu ointment,for 7 consecutive days,and then,the spontaneous activity of insomnia mice and the effect on hypnotic time and subthreshold hypnotic dose of pentobarbital sodium were observed,and the levels of 5-HT,IL-6 and TNF-α in the hippocampus of mice were determined.[Results]High and middle-dose Anshen Babu ointment significantly reduced the spontaneous activity of insomnia mice and shorten the hypnotic time of pentobarbital sodium;high and middle-dose Anshen Babu ointment increased the 5-HT content and inhibited the IL-6 and TNF-α expression in the hippocampus of mice.[Conclusions]Anshen Babu ointment has hypnotic and sedative effect on insomnia mice.The mechanism may be achieved by increasing 5-HT and reducing IL-6 and TNF-α levels.

文摘The unscientific application of synthetic pesticides has brought various negative effects on the environment,hindering the sustainable development of agriculture.Nanoparticles can be applied as carriers to improve pesticide delivery,showing great potential in the development of pesticide formulation in recent years.Herein,a star polymer(SPc)was constructed as an efficient pesticide nanocarrier/adjuvant that could spontaneously assemble with thiocyclam or monosultap into a complex,through hydrophobic association and hydrogen bonding,respectively,with the pesticide-loading contents of 42.54%and 19.3%.This complexation reduced the particle sizes of thiocyclam from 543.54 to 52.74 nm for pure thiocyclam,and 3814.16 to 1185.89 nm for commercial preparation(cp)of thiocyclam.Interestingly,the introduction of SPc decreased the contact angles of both pure and cp thiocyclam on plant leaves,and increased the plant uptake of cp thiocyclam to 2.4–1.9 times of that without SPc.Meanwhile,the SPc could promote the bioactivity of pure/cp thiocyclam against green peach aphids through leaf dipping method and root application.For leaf dipping method,the 50%lethal concentration decreased from 0.532 to 0.221 g/L after the complexation of pure thiocyclam with SPc,and that decreased from 0.390 to 0.251 g/L for cp thiocyclam.SPc seems a promising adjuvant for nanometerization of both pure and cp insecticides,which is beneficial for improving the delivery efficiency and utilization rate of pesticides.

文摘Crop improvement is crucial for addressing the global challenges of food security and sustainable agriculture.Recent advancements in high-throughput phenotyping(HTP)technologies and artificial intelligence(AI)have revolutionized the field,enabling rapid and accurate assessment of crop traits on a large scale.The integration of AI and machine learning algorithms with HTP data has unlocked new opportunities for crop improvement.AI algorithms can analyze and interpret large datasets,and extract meaningful patterns and correlations between phenotypic traits and genetic factors.These technologies have the potential to revolutionize plant breeding programs by providing breeders with efficient and accurate tools for trait selection,thereby reducing the time and cost required for variety development.However,further research and collaboration are needed to overcome the existing challenges and fully unlock the power of HTP and AI in crop improvement.By leveraging AI algorithms,researchers can efficiently analyze phenotypic data,uncover complex patterns,and establish predictive models that enable precise trait selection and crop breeding.The aim of this review is to explore the transformative potential of integrating HTP and AI in crop improvement.This review will encompass an in-depth analysis of recent advances and applications,highlighting the numerous benefits and challenges associated with HTP and AI.

文摘Jet grouting is one of the most popular soil improvement techniques,but its design usually involves great uncertainties that can lead to economic cost overruns in construction projects.The high dispersion in the properties of the improved material leads to designers assuming a conservative,arbitrary and unjustified strength,which is even sometimes subjected to the results of the test fields.The present paper presents an approach for prediction of the uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)of jet grouting columns based on the analysis of several machine learning algorithms on a database of 854 results mainly collected from different research papers.The selected machine learning model(extremely randomized trees)relates the soil type and various parameters of the technique to the value of the compressive strength.Despite the complex mechanism that surrounds the jet grouting process,evidenced by the high dispersion and low correlation of the variables studied,the trained model allows to optimally predict the values of compressive strength with a significant improvement with respect to the existing works.Consequently,this work proposes for the first time a reliable and easily applicable approach for estimation of the compressive strength of jet grouting columns.
