The paper studied the key factors of industrial hemp tissue culture, such as the physiological state of aseptic seedlings, the selection and concentration of plant growth regulators and so on.Hemp seed disinfection used 75% alcohol for 2 min and sterilized in 1‰ Hg Cl2 for 5min. The best combinations of plant growth regulators were 1.0 mg/L 6-BA and 0.5mg/L NAA for the induction of callus, and the best combinations of hormones were1.0 mg/L KT and 0.5 mg/L NAA for differentiation rate of adventitious bud. 展开更多

Cloning Successive Generations of Industrial Hemp (Cannabis sativa) to Assess Cannabinoid Profiles

Industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa) has made a remarkable impact worldwide due to the plant’s beneficial properties and versatile use. Vegetative cuttings (clones) of C. sativa are the preferred propagation technique to be the most effective in retaining the same genetic information and reducing hybridization and mutations. The objective of this project was to assess cannabinoid profile concentrations of successively cloned generations of 5 varieties: Cherry, Cherry Blossom, Cherry × Workhorse, Sour Space Candy, and The Wife. This research project focused on the idea that every cloned plant contains the exact same genetic information and, therefore, should have the same metabolic profile of cannabinoids through all the successive generations grown, which is shown to be true. Plants were cloned for multiple generations using stem cuttings and a commercial cloner. As plants matured, they were set in environmental conditions to stimulate flowering and buds were harvested and analyzed for cannabinoid contents using HPLC. Several generations of each variety were successfully cloned. As many as 17 different cannabinoids were analyzed and the results of this study show that there is not a significant difference in cannabinoids over successive generations, showing no major trends. 展开更多

The use of structural insulated panels(SIPs)for wall and roof assemblies in residential and commercial buildings is a well-known construction technique.SIPs typically use a combination of either expanded polystyrene foam(EPS)or polyurethane foam(PUR)as the core material.The covering or skin is predominantly oriented strand board(OSB).The OSB is either bonded to the foam with adhesive in the case of EPS,while polyurethane is used to provide adhesion with PUR SIPs.This paper presents the results of research that investigated the use of industrial hemp mat used as a skin for soy-based polyurethane foam panels.A series of tests were conducted to investigate moisture resistance and flexural behaviour on hemp mat foam panels.Moisture absorption behaviour was evaluated on three specimen types:uncoated,earth plaster and tung oil treated hemp mat.The absorption coefficient Aw was determined for all specimens.The tung oil treated specimens exhibited a water absorption coefficient that was 5.3%of that for untreated hemp mat panel specimens.Flexural tests were conducted on dry specimens with earth-plastered hemp mat,tung oil coated hemp mat,OSB and,untreated hemp mat skins.Tung oil provided resistance to tension failure and increased capacity to withstand considerable deformation without tensile failure in flexural specimens.Compared with pure foam specimens,untreated hemp mat improved flexural performance by 16.3%. 展开更多
