Blended learning based on information technology,emphasizes students’central position and teachers’leading role in teaching and learning.In view of this,the author attempts to apply the model to the instruction of the course Business English Writing.In the instructional design,the author navigates students to enhance the input of sample texts on the basis of webbased autonomous learning and organizes cooperative learning so as to increase students’writing practice,thus improving their research ability and communicative skills.Consequently,the two major problems—deficiency in language input because of limited class hours and lack of interaction owing to the large size of classes can be effectively solved. 展开更多

Interfacial Interaction of CFRP Reinforced Steel Beam Structures

Due to the increase of service life,the phenomenon of performance degradation of bridge structures becomes more and more common.It is important to strengthen the bridge structures so as to restore the resistance level and extend the normal service life.Carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP)materials are thus used for the assembly reinforcement of bridges for the advantages of high strength,light weight,corrosion resistance and long-term stability of physical and chemical properties,etc.In view of this,based on the previous theoretical study and the established formula of the interfacial shear stress of CFRP reinforced steel beam and the normal stress of CFRP plate,this paper discusses the sensitive parameters that affect the interfacial interaction of CFRP strengthened beam structures.Through the analysis,the priority design indicators and suggestions are accordingly given for the design of reinforced beam structures.Young’s modulus of CFRP composite and shear modulus of the adhesive have the greatest influence on the interfacial interaction,which should be carefully considered.It is suggested that CFRP material with Ec close to 300 GPa and thickness no less than 3 mm,and adhesive material with Ga less than 5 GPa and 3-mm thickness can be adopted in CFRP reinforced steel beam.The conclusions of this paper can provide guidance for the interfacial damage control of CFRP reinforced steel beam structures. 展开更多

The earth's environment has been affected by drastic changes in the weather and generally,countries have been vigorously promoting the implementation of environmental education.Through teaching designs from teaching theories with Taiwan's higher education general education curriculum;the general course of Sustainable Development and Climate Change,this study developed a multi-teaching model and used the two-stage teaching strategy of observation and action in a variety of teaching activities arranged in each week of the semester in order to gradually improve students*12*5 environmental literacy.The specific actions and cognitions of adjustment and mitigation are to achieve the teaching goal of cultivating the ability of environmental literacy among students in the course as well as obtain feedback from the questionnaires on teaching after the course.The multi-teaching model constructed by the institute would obviously help students to improve their learning effectiveness. 展开更多

Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to explain how the introduction of the Internet and digital tools renews and enriches John Dewey’s experimentalist model for teaching and learning with particular attention to the place of and resources for higher order thinking.Design/Approach/Methods-The methods include a close exposition of Dewey’s classical texts,and a thought experiment introducing ICT elements into Dewey’s design diagrams for teaching and learning.Findings-Dewey’s model has inherent difficulties,and that digital technologies helps resolve them.Originality/Value-With the Internet and new digital tools,teachers can design new virtual learning spaces and learning activities.Learners can use online information and communication tools to act more effectively using higher-order thinking skills. 展开更多

Prior to the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, distance education, a mode of education that allows teaching and learning to occur beyond the walls of traditional classrooms using electronic media and online delivery pr... Prior to the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, distance education, a mode of education that allows teaching and learning to occur beyond the walls of traditional classrooms using electronic media and online delivery practices, was not widely embraced as a credible alternative mode of delivering education, especially in Africa. In education, the pandemic, and the measures to contain it, created a need for virtual learning/teaching and showcased the potential of distance education. This article explores the potential of distance education with an emphasis on the role played by COVID-19, the technologies employed, and the benefits, as well as how data stewardship can enhance distance education. It also describes how distance education can make learning opportunities available to the less privileged, geographically displaced, dropouts, housewives, and even workers, enabling them to partake in education while being engaged in other productive aspects of life. A case study is provided on the Dutch Organisation for Internationalisation in Education(NUFFIC) Digital Innovation Skills Hub(DISH) project, which is implemented via distance education and targeted towards marginalised individuals such as refugees and displaced persons in Ethiopia,Somalia, and other conflict zones, aiming to provide them with critical and soft skills for remote work for financial remuneration. This case study shows that distance education is the way forward in education today, as it has the capability to reach millions of learners simultaneously, educating, lifting people out of poverty, and increasing productivity and yields, while ensuring that the world is a better place for future generations. 展开更多
