The concept of New Liberal Arts,a multidisciplinary combined integrator with Chinese values at its core,has brought new challenges to the teaching methods and professional development of higher-level English teachers....The concept of New Liberal Arts,a multidisciplinary combined integrator with Chinese values at its core,has brought new challenges to the teaching methods and professional development of higher-level English teachers.Based on the evolving professional development process of higher vocational English teachers in the context of the New Liberal Arts,this article analyzes how English teachers can integrate multidisciplinary knowledge and adopt advanced educational technology in the teaching process.On this basis,it discusses the role of teachers’professional development in enhancing students’learning ability,such as through deepening disciplinary understanding,adopting innovative teaching strategies,and implementing personalized teaching.At the end of the article,based on a variety of pedagogical theories,we put forward suggestions,including continuous professional training,interdisciplinary cooperation,and the application of innovative teaching techniques,which are mainly aimed at helping higher vocational English teachers get rid of the dilemma of the new situation,adapt to the needs of the new liberal arts education as soon as possible,and then effectively improve students’abilities.展开更多

This paper makes a philosophical critique of liberal peacebuilding（the mainstream peacebuilding） and explores a postmodern post-liberal hybrid peacebuilding. The analysis claimsneither the categorical rejection of liberal peacebuilding nor the exclusive reliance on locally-orientedpeacebuilding. In addition, this study also aims to examine whether or not econom...This study aims to measure the impact of liberalization on the efficiency of electricity production in Japan using Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA). In addition, this study also aims to examine whether or not economies of scale exist in the electricity generation sector and the transmission sector, and whether or not economies of scope exist between electricity generation and transmission. Since 1995, liberalization of the electricity market in Japan has been phased in and regulations on entry have been relaxed three times. One motivation for these regularity changes has been to improve the efficiency of electricity production by introducing competition. Using a panel data set on the nine main power companies in Japan over the period 1970-2010, estimates of fixed-effects and stochastic frontier models of the cost function are obtained and compared. Estimates of the cost function show that liberalization has improved cost efficiency when both frontier models and non-frontier models are estimated. Estimates of the fixed-effects model are used to calculate economies of scale and economies scope because the data support the fixed-effects model. Economies of scope are found to exist for all nine power companies, while overall economies of scope declined in the 1970s and have improved little by little since the 1980s.展开更多

The basic messages of the current liberal prevention strategies aim to promote changes in individual behaviour so as to prevent HIV transmission. The strategies avoid any kind of regulation, prescription and controls, and trust solely on the readiness of the sexually active part of the general population, and in particular the “at-risk populations” to cooperate with those messages. However, only a small number of people have cooperated. The increase in the incidence of HIV over the past decade in the countries listed discloses the failures of the current prevention strategies. With respect to the goal of trying to influence those people prone to high-risk sexual lifestyles, and the injecting drug users, the prevention strategies have not had a meaningful effect in the long term. This is also reflected in the increase of other STIs such as hepatitis C, syphilis, and the human papilloma virus, which are worse when there is co-infection with HIV. The liberal prevention strategies turned out to be inadequate for the goal, and must be adjusted to real life situations to counteract their misuse. Meanwhile there are ample evidence-based measures which must be implemented into concerted efforts by complementing the current strategies with respect to a person-to-person bound infection. Trade liberalization requires institutional coordination and openness,and is driven by a multitude of factors.This paper simulates endogenous optimal tariffs under different model structures to uncover the underlying ...Trade liberalization requires institutional coordination and openness,and is driven by a multitude of factors.This paper simulates endogenous optimal tariffs under different model structures to uncover the underlying drivers of trade liberalization.Parametric calibration and simulation methods based on the numeric general equilibrium model are employed to estimate the optimal tariff rates of countries with and without trade retaliation.Then,near-reality assumptions are added into the standard general equilibrium model structure,including the cross-border capital flow,multi-country assumption and trade cost,to simulate decreasing optimal tariff rates.The simulation results suggest that world economic development has increased the economic ties and interdependence among nations,making trade liberalization an endogenous optimal choice.The backlash against globalization in recent years is motivated by short-term factors,but will not persist in the long run since it goes against the law of economic growth and socio-economic development.展开更多
On the basis of combing domestic and foreign related literature and research practice,the influence mechanism of the construction of new liberal arts was analyzed,and the fundamental tasks of the construction of new l...On the basis of combing domestic and foreign related literature and research practice,the influence mechanism of the construction of new liberal arts was analyzed,and the fundamental tasks of the construction of new liberal arts in Tibet were summarized.Based on 173 field questionnaires in Tibet,factor analysis was used to conduct empirical analysis.It is found that the cumulative contribution of the first,second,third and fourth common factor was 24.921%,21.742%,17.331%,and 14.206%,respectively.Professional orientation,the reform of talent training mode,teacher ability,quality and level of the teaching team,curriculum system reform,teaching content reform,education training service,and other evaluation indicators are the key points of the construction of new liberal arts.The research conclusion is that the construction of new liberal arts needs to highlight the"three positions";it is needed to plan and promote various resources to focus on the ability and level of professional teachers’social services;the managers and professional teachers should be the leaders and participants of the innovation of the talent training model respectively.Finally,relevant policy recommendations were put forward.展开更多

文摘On the basis of combing domestic and foreign related literature and research practice,the influence mechanism of the construction of new liberal arts was analyzed,and the fundamental tasks of the construction of new liberal arts in Tibet were summarized.Based on 173 field questionnaires in Tibet,factor analysis was used to conduct empirical analysis.It is found that the cumulative contribution of the first,second,third and fourth common factor was 24.921%,21.742%,17.331%,and 14.206%,respectively.Professional orientation,the reform of talent training mode,teacher ability,quality and level of the teaching team,curriculum system reform,teaching content reform,education training service,and other evaluation indicators are the key points of the construction of new liberal arts.The research conclusion is that the construction of new liberal arts needs to highlight the"three positions";it is needed to plan and promote various resources to focus on the ability and level of professional teachers’social services;the managers and professional teachers should be the leaders and participants of the innovation of the talent training model respectively.Finally,relevant policy recommendations were put forward.
