To this end, fieldworks, mineralogical and geochemical ...This study was focused to assess major and trace elements in bauxitic duricrusts from Ngaoundal and its surroundings in order to establish their mining interest. To this end, fieldworks, mineralogical and geochemical analyses were carried out. Four facies of duricrust were identified and characterized from the summit to the top of the slope of the Ngaoundal mountain: scoriaceous, pisolitic, nodular and massive. Mineralogical and geochemical analyses performed on 16 samples, revealed a significant concentration of Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> mainly in the scoriaceous facies (over 45% in grade), moderate in Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> (averaging 23.69%) and SiO<sub>2</sub> (averaging 21.7%). Trace elements were generally low, excluding Cr (421 ppm on average), Zr (327 ppm on average and V (213 ppm on average). In addition, the limited quantities of alkalis (Na<sub>2</sub>O, K<sub>2</sub>O) and alkaline earths metals (MgO, CaO) coupled with the very high values of Chemical Index of Alteration (CIA) and Mineralogical Index of Alteration (MIA), (more than 99%) attest to the intense weathering of the studied materials. Allitization and monosiallitization constituted the crystallochemical phenomena that have led to the development of bauxitic minerals. More than 90% of gibbsite in scoriaceous facies, 52.21% - 76.01% of kaolinite in pisolitic facies and more than 40% of hematite in nodular facies were quantified. The relationships between the constitutive components indicated their interdependency during the bauxitization phenomenon. The mineralogical and geochemical properties highlighted the mining interest of the studied duricrusts to be valorized.展开更多

It varies from 0 to 10 points divided into three risk categories (0 to 4 high, 5 to 7 moderate, 8 to 10 low). The aim of the study was to evaluate its relevance in predicting the appearance of these complications. Material and methods: This descriptive and analytical study was carried out at the “Laquintinie” Hospital in Douala and at the Central Hospital in Yaounde, Cameroon. The main data were collected on a population of patients over 18 years old and recorded on a survey form. They consisted of variables of main interest and exposure variables. Univariate and multivariate statistical analysis using top-down logistic regression models made it possible to evaluate the association of each variable of main interest and each exposure variable. The association was significant at P Results: Of the 88 patients studied, the SAS was 3 hours. In multivariate, this link persisted only and strongly for the SAS OR (IC) 0.1 (0.1 - 0.2) and p = 000. This study investigated the major ion composition and sources in wet and dry deposition samples collected over 15 months (December 2017 to February 2019) at four stations representing four different land use/cover typ...This study investigated the major ion composition and sources in wet and dry deposition samples collected over 15 months (December 2017 to February 2019) at four stations representing four different land use/cover types on the western side of Lake Kivu basin in D.R. Congo. The samples were collected every 13 days for dry deposition and two to three times per month for wet deposition. Samples were analyzed for major ionic components (Cl<sup>-, NO<sub>-</sub>3</sup>, SO<sub>2-</sub>4</sup>, Na<sup>+</sup>, K<sup>+</sup>, NH<sub>+</sub>4</sup>, Ca<sup>2+</sup>, CO<sub>2-</sub>3</sup>, HCO<sub>-</sub>3</sup> and Mg<sup>2+</sup>). Electrical conductivity and pH were analyzed immediately in the field while major ion measurements were in the laboratory. Results showed the pH of both the dry and the wet depositions were higher than what would have been expected based on equilibration with atmospheric CO<sub>2</sub> (pH > 5.6) at all four sites, with conductivity less than 50 μS/cm. The neutralization process in dry and wet atmospheric deposition is due to Ca<sup>2+</sup>, NH<sub>+</sub>4</sup>, HCO<sub>-</sub>3</sup> and CO<sub>2-</sub>3</sup>. The anion: cation ratio in dry deposition was close to 1 for Iko and Bukavu, and it was greater than 1.0 (1.1 - 1.2) for Lwiro and Goma in wet deposition. The dominant anions in wet deposition were SO<sub>2-</sub>4</sup> and NO<sub>-</sub>3</sup>, found around the rural area near cement factory and the urban area near active volcanoes, respectively. The most abundant cation was Na+ followed by K<sup>+</sup>. The enrichment factors and correlation analysis suggest that the main sources of Ca<sup>2+</sup>, Na<sup>+</sup> and Mg<sup>2+</sup> were disintegration of soil processes, aeolian suspension of soil and volcanic ash, biomass burning and the cement/lime factory around the Lake Kivu basin.展开更多

Basic...This paper is a further elaboration of my model of the pathophysiology of major depressive disorder focusing on imbalances of glial-neuronal interactions in tripartite synapses and the glial network (syncytium). Basically, it is proposed that the connexin proteins building gap junctions in the glial syncytium are underexpressed or dysfunctional in major depression, called syncytiopathy. As a compensatory effect the astrocytic receptors in tripartite synapses are overexpressed. This leads to protracted synaptic information processing because of a relative lack of neurotransmitter substances for the occupancy of astrocytic receptors. Based on a new biophysical formal description of astrocytic receptors as expectation variables it can be shown that the protracted processing of sensory information frustrate the full comprehension of the expected event, since it cannot be grasped in time. Moreover, expectation frustration may stress the glial syncytium aggravating memory impairment. This cyclic process of dysbalanced synaptic information processing is characterized as self-frustration of expectations explanatory for the main cognitive dysfunctions in major depression as slowing down processing speed, deficits in attention and working memory. The main result of the study is that patients with major depression cannot fully acknowledge the existence of an intended event.展开更多

MAPCAs are often associated with cyanotic congenital heart disease with decreased pulmonary blood flow. Isolated MAPCAs are rare in patients without congenital heart disease with structurally normal hearts. Sometimes, isolated congenital MAPCAs can occur without any lung disease. Isolated MAPCAs represent the occurrence of collaterals in the absence of underlying heart disease, which commonly presents as heart failure, recurrent respiratory tract infection, and pulmonary artery hypertension. We report a rare case of congestive heart failure in a 6-year-old patient with dual arterial supply to an otherwise normal right lung, with a normal bronchial tree, and a structurally normal heart. The patient was successfully managed by the closure of collaterals by Amplatzer vascular plugs II (AVPII) and Amplatzer Piccolo Occluders.展开更多

Such malformations so not necessarily impact aesthetics and social relations. Case Presentation: The authors report the case of Samuel M, male born at 38 WA, who is the first child of healthy parents from the same socio-cultural area. His birth weight was 2800 g and he did not have any risk factors for deafness or concept of obstetrical trauma. He presented with congenital malformation manifesting as bilateral ear aplasia with unilateral facial paralysis. Computed tomography revealed abnormalities of the inner ear;functional explorations, such as PEA and OEA, showed findings in favor of bilateral cophosis. ASSR (Auditory Steady-State Responses) was not performed. The announcement of the serious diagnosis of deafness requires multidisciplinary care in order to plan a therapeutic program to limit the impact on the development of language, schooling, and consequently, the socio-professional future of children. Conclusion: This clinical case underlines the fact that interest of the clinical interview before possible multiple surgery does not always guarantee the satisfaction of the desire for repair in this type of patient.展开更多

According to the result of the questionnaire, the PE & Art majors do use some metacognitive strategies in their reading, while nearly half of them do not often use metacognitive strategies in their reading. 文摘Learning styles are considered as an important individual difference of affecting learning efficiency and English achievements.This research focuses on the sophomores whose majors are Physical Education (P.E.),Art and Music (P.A.M.students) in Yangtze Normal University to investigate into total learning styles,the relationships concerning major,English achievement respectively with learning styles.The results show that participants prefer group learning style rather than auditory learning style;there is no possible links between learning styles and their majors,and English achievements.
文摘This thesis conducts a study of avoidance phenomenon in the English writing of English majors in Shandong University ofTechnology. Instruments used in the study are 180 English writing samples of the 2 ndgrade English majors, questionnaires and in-terviews. Based on the data collected, different kinds of avoidance are analyzed. Further, reasons behind avoidance are exploredand corresponding implications are given.
