What remains poorly constrained is what parts of the clickstream data are meaningful information and what parts are accidental for the problem of platform design. In this research, clickstream data from an online retailer was examined to demonstrate how statistical modeling can improve clickstream information usage. A discrete choice logit model showed that the content of a website, the history of website use, and the exit rate of pages visited had marginal effects on derived utility for the visitor. Exit rate and bounce rate were modeled as beta distributed random variables. It was found that exit rate and its variability for pages visited were associated with site content, site quality, prior visitor history on the site, and technological preferences of the visitor. Bounce rate was also found to be influenced by the same factors but was in a direction opposite to the registered hypotheses. The linear growth systems include the EW equation and the model of random deposition with surface relaxation(RDSR), the nonlinear growth systems involve the KPZ equation and typical discrete models including ballistic deposition(BD), etching, and restricted solid on solid(RSOS). The scaling exponents are obtained in both the(1 + 1)-and(2 + 1)-dimensional competitive growth with the nonlinear growth probability p and the linear proportion 1-p. Our results show that, when p changes from 0 to 1, there exist non-trivial crossover effects from EW to KPZ universality classes based on different competitive growth rules. Furthermore, the growth rate and the porosity are also estimated within various linear and nonlinear growths of cooperation and competition.展开更多

These networks can be viewed as a collection of nodes and edges, where users and their interactions are represented as nodes and the connections between them as edges. Understanding the factors that contribute to the formation of these edges is important for studying network structure and processes. This knowledge can be applied to various areas such as identifying communities, recommending friends, and targeting online advertisements. Several factors, including node popularity and friends-of-friends relationships, influence edge formation and network growth. This research focuses on the temporal activity of nodes and its impact on edge formation. Specifically, the study examines how the minimum age of friends-of-friends edges and the average age of all edges connected to potential target nodes influence the formation of network edges. Discrete choice analysis is used to analyse the combined effect of these temporal factors and other well-known attributes like node degree (i.e., the number of connections a node has) and network distance between nodes. The findings reveal that temporal properties have a similar impact as network proximity in predicting the creation of links. By incorporating temporal features into the models, the accuracy of link prediction can be further improved.展开更多

A digital specimen comprised of aggregates and air voids is developed. In addition,a static compaction model consisting of a digital specimen and three plates is constructed and a series of evaluation indices such as mean contact force σMCF, wall stress in direction of zcoordinate σWSZZ, porosity and coordination numbers are presented to investigate the motion rules of coarse aggregates at different compaction displacements of 7. 5, 15 and 30 mm. The three-dimensional static compaction model is also verified with laboratory measurements. The results indicate that the compaction displacements are positively related to σMCF and σWSZZ, which increase gradually with the increase in iterative steps. When the compaction proceeds, the digital specimen porosity decreases, but the coordination number increases. The variation ranges of these four indices are different at different compaction displacements. This study provides a method to analyze the compaction mechanism of particle materials such as asphalt mixture and graded broken stone.展开更多

Based on the traditional nonhomogenous discrete grey forecasting model(NDGM), the interval grey number and its algebra operations are redefined and combined with the NDGM model to construct a new interval grey number sequence prediction approach. The solving principle of the model is analyzed, the new accuracy evaluation indices, i.e. mean absolute percentage error of mean value sequence(MAPEM) and mean percent of interval sequence simulating value set covered(MPSVSC), are defined and, the procedure of the interval grey number sequence based the NDGM(IG-NDGM) is given out. Finally, a numerical case is used to test the modelling accuracy of the proposed model. Results show that the proposed approach could solve the interval grey number sequence prediction problem and it is much better than the traditional DGM(1,1) model and GM(1,1) model.展开更多

Our results show that, when p changes from 0 to 1, there exist non-trivial crossover effects from EW to KPZ universality classes based on different competitive growth rules. Furthermore, the growth rate and the porosity are also estimated within various linear and nonlinear growths of cooperation and competition.
文摘The cross-level and twist irregularities are the most dangerous irregularity types that could cause wheel unloading with the risk of derailments and additional maintenance expenses. However, the mechanism of the irregularities initiation and development is unclear. The motivation of the present study was the previous experimental studies on the application of wide sleepers in the ballasted track. The long-term track geometry measurements with wide sleepers show an enormous reduction of the vertical longitudinal irregularities compared to the conventional track. However, wide sleepers had higher twist and cross-section level irregularities. The present paper aims to explain the phenomenon by discrete element method(DEM)modeling the development process of sleeper inhomogeneous support at cross-level depending on the sleeper form. The DEM simulations show that the maximal settlement intensity is up to 3.5 times lower for a wide sleeper in comparison with the conventional one.Nevertheless, the cross-level differential settlements are almost the same for both sleepers. The particle loading distribution after all loading cycles is concentrated on the smaller area,up to the half sleeper length, with fully unloaded zones under sleeper ends.Ballast flow limitation under the central part of the sleeper could improve the resilience of wide sleepers to the development of cross-level irregularities. The mechanism of initiation of the cross-level irregularity is proposed, which assumes the loss of sleeper support under sleeper ends. The further growth of inhomogeneous settlements along the sleeper is assumed as a result of the interaction of two processes:ballast flow due to dynamic impact during void closing and on the other side high pressure due to the concentration of the pressure under the middle part of the sleeper. The DEM simulation results support the assumption of the mechanism and agree with the experimental studies.

文摘To efficiently predict the mechanical parameters of granular soil based on its random micro-structure,this study proposed a novel approach combining numerical simulation and machine learning algorithms.Initially,3500 simulations of one-dimensional compression tests on coarse-grained sand using the three-dimensional(3D)discrete element method(DEM)were conducted to construct a database. In this process, the positions of the particles were randomly altered, and the particle assemblages changed.Interestingly, besides confirming the influence of particle size distribution parameters, the stress-strain curves differed despite an identical gradation size statistic when the particle position varied.Subsequently, the obtained data were partitioned into training, validation, and testing datasets at a 7:2:1 ratio. To convert the DEM model into a multi-dimensional matrix that computers can recognize, the 3D DEM models were first sliced to extract multi-layer two-dimensional(2D)cross-sectional data.Redundant information was then eliminated via gray processing, and the data were stacked to form a new 3D matrix representing the granular soil’s fabric.Subsequently, utilizing the Python language and Pytorch framework,a 3D convolutional neural networks(CNNs)model was developed to establish the relationship between the constrained modulus obtained from DEM simulations and the soil’s fabric. The mean squared error(MSE)function was utilized to assess the loss value during the training process. When the learning rate(LR)fell within the range of 10-5e10-1,and the batch sizes(BSs)were 4,8,16,32,and 64,the loss value stabilized after 100 training epochs in the training and validation dataset. For BS?32 and LR?10-3,the loss reached a minimum. In the testing set,a comparative evaluation of the predicted constrained modulus from the 3D CNNs versus the simulated modulus obtained via DEM reveals a minimum mean absolute percentage error(MAPE)of 4.43%under the optimized condition, demonstrating the accuracy of this approach. Thus,by combining DEM and CNNs,the variation of soil’s mechanical characteristics related to its random fabric would be efficiently evaluated by directly tracking the particle assemblages.

文摘Continental shale oil reservoirs, characterized by numerous bedding planes and micro-nano scale pores, feature significantly higher stress sensitivity compared to other types of reservoirs. However, research on suitable stress sensitivity characterization models is still limited. In this study, three commonly used stress sensitivity models for shale oil reservoirs were considered, and experiments on representative core samples were conducted.By fitting and comparing the data, the“exponential model”was identified as a characterization model that accurately represents stress sensitivity in continental shale oil reservoirs. To validate the accuracy of the model,a two-phase seepage mathematical model for shale oil reservoirs coupled with the exponential model was introduced. The model was discretely solved using the finite volume method, and its accuracy was verified through the commercial simulator CMG.The study evaluated the productivity of a typical horizontal well under different engineering, geological, and fracture conditions. The results indicate that considering stress sensitivity leads to a 13.57%reduction in production for the same matrix permeability.Additionally,as the fracture half-length and the number of fractures increase, and the bottomhole flowing pressure decreases, the reservoir stress sensitivity becomes higher.

文摘In open pit mining, uncontrolled block instabilities have serious social, economic and regulatory consequences, such as casualties, disruption of operation and increased regulation difficulties. For this reason, bench face angle,as one of the controlling parameters associated with block instabilities, should be carefully designed for sustainable mining. This study introduces a discrete fracture network(DFN)-based probabilistic block theory approach for the fast design of the bench face angle.A major advantage is the explicit incorporation of discontinuity size and spatial distribution in the procedure of key blocks testing. The proposed approach was applied to a granite mine in China.First,DFN models were generated from a multi-step modeling procedure to simulate the complex structural characteristics of pit slopes. Then,a modified key blocks searching method was applied to the slope faces modeled, and a cumulative probability of failure was obtained for each sector. Finally,a bench face angle was determined commensurate with an acceptable risk level of stability. The simulation results have shown that the number of hazardous traces exposed on the slope face can be significantly reduced when the suggested bench face angle is adopted, indicating an extremely low risk of uncontrolled block instabilities.

文摘In order to find the main factors that influence the urban traffic structure,a relational model between the travelers' characteristics and the trip mode choice is built. The data of urban residents' characteristics are obtained from statistical data, while the trip mode split data is collected through a trip survey in Bengbu. In addition, the discrete choice model is adopted to build the functional relationship between the mode choice and the travelers' personal characteristics,as well as family characteristics and trip characteristics. The model shows that the relationship between the mode split and the personal,as well as family and trip characteristics is stable and changes little as the time changes.Deduced by the discrete model, the mode split result is relatively accurate and can be feasibly used for trip mode structure forecasts.Furthermore, the proposed model can also contribute to find the key influencing factors on trip mode choice, and restructure or optimize the urban trip mode structure.
文摘Cleats are the dominant micro-fracture network controlling the macro-mechanical behavior of coal.Improved understanding of the spatial characteristics of cleat networks is therefore important to the coal mining industry.Discrete fracture networks(DFNs)are increasingly used in engineering analyses to spatially model fractures at various scales. The reliability of coal DFNs largely depends on the confidence in the input cleat statistics.Estimates of these parameters can be made from image-based three-dimensional(3D)characterization of coal cleats using X-ray micro-computed tomography(m CT).One key step in this process, after cleat extraction,is the separation of individual cleats, without which the cleats are a connected network and statistics for different cleat sets cannot be measured. In this paper,a feature extraction-based image processing method is introduced to identify and separate distinct cleat groups from 3D X-ray m CT images.Kernels(filters)representing explicit cleat features of coal are built and cleat separation is successfully achieved by convolutional operations on 3D coal images. The new method is applied to a coal specimen with 80 mm in diameter and 100 mm in length acquired from an Anglo American Steelmaking Coal mine in the Bowen Basin,Queensland,Australia. It is demonstrated that the new method produces reliable cleat separation capable of defining individual cleats and preserving 3D topology after separation.Bedding-parallel fractures are also identified and separated, which has his-torically been challenging to delineate and rarely reported.A variety of cleat/fracture statistics is measured which not only can quantitatively characterize the cleat/fracture system but also can be used for DFN modeling. Finally, variability and heterogeneity with respect to the core axis are investigated.Significant heterogeneity is observed and suggests that the representative elementary volume(REV)of the cleat groups for engineering purposes may be a complex problem requiring careful consideration.
文摘Social networks like Facebook, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn provide an interaction and communication environment for users to generate and share content, allowing for the observation of social behaviours in the digital world. By incorporating temporal features into the models, the accuracy of link prediction can be further improved.

文摘To investigate migration and evolution rules of coarse aggregates in the static compaction process, an algorithm of generating digital coarse aggregates that can reflect real morphology( such as shape, size and fracture surface) of aggregate particles, is represented by polyhedral particles based on the discrete element method( DEM). This study provides a method to analyze the compaction mechanism of particle materials such as asphalt mixture and graded broken stone.

文摘This paper aims to study a new grey prediction approach and its solution for forecasting the main system variable whose accurate value could not be collected while the potential value set could be defined. Results show that the proposed approach could solve the interval grey number sequence prediction problem and it is much better than the traditional DGM(1,1) model and GM(1,1) model.

文摘Natural fracture data from one of the Carboniferous shale masses in the eastern Qaidam Basin were used to establish a stochastic model of a discrete fracture network and to perform discrete element simulation research on the size efect and mechanical parameters of shale.Analytical solutions of fctitious joints in transversely isotropic media were derived, which made it possible for the proposed numerical model to simulate the bedding and natural fractures in shale masses. The results indicate that there are two main factors infuencing the representative elementary volume(REV)size of a shale mass. The frst and most decisive factor is the presence of natural fractures in the block itself. The second is the anisotropy ratio:the greater the anisotropy is,the larger the REV.The bedding angle has little infuence on the REV size, whereas it has a certain infuence on the mechanical parameters of the rock mass. When the bedding angle approaches the average orientation of the natural fractures, the mechanical parameters of the shale blocks decrease greatly. The REV representing the mechanical properties of the Carboniferous shale masses in the eastern Qaidam Basin were comprehensively identifed by considering the infuence of bedding and natural fractures. When the numerical model size is larger than the REV,the fractured rock mass discontinuities can be transformed into equivalent continuities, which provides a method for simulating shale with natural fractures and bedding to analyze the stability of a borehole wall in shale.
