Seven light intensities (20, 30, 40, 45, 50, 60 and 80 μmol·m-2·s-1) are used to evaluate the specific growth rate, spectrum absorption coefficient and saturated light intensity of LED monochromatic light. Results show that the growth rates of Skeletonema costatum increase with the enhanced light intensity;however, the light level beyond the saturation light intensity inhibited the growth of Skeletonema costatum. Compared with red and green light, the growth rate of Skeletonema costatum under blue light is higher within saturated light intensity, and saturated light intensity of LED monochromatic light is lower under blue light and higher under green light. It is concluded that under different monochromatic light, the saturated light intensity decreases and the growth rate increases with the increasing of spectrum absorption coefficient.展开更多

The formalism enables an objective test in probabilistic terms of the quantities and model concepts involved in the problem at hand. With this formalism, an amplitude (linear parameter), a frequency (non-linear parameter) and a hyperparameter of the Gaussian amplitude prior are inferred jointly given simulated data sets with Gaussian noise contributions. For the amplitude, an analytical normal posterior follows which is conditional on the frequency and the hyperparameter. The remaining posterior estimates the frequency with an uncertainty of MHz, while the convolution of a standard approach would achieve an uncertainty of some GHz. This improvement in the estimation is investigated analytically and numerically, revealing for instance the positive effect of a high signal-to-noise ratio and/or a large number of data points. As a fixed choice of the hyperparameter imposes certain results on the amplitude and frequency, this parameter is estimated and, thus, tested for plausibility as well. From abstract point of view, the model posterior is investigated as well.展开更多

Therefore, we investigate the feasibility of CTAC in the presence of dense materials using dual-energy virtual monochromatic CT data. Methods: A sodium pertechnetate-filled cylindrical uniform phantom, with a pair of undiluted iodine syringes attached, is scanned with a dual-source CT scanner to obtain both single-energy (120 kVp) polychromatic and dual-energy (80 kVp/140 kVp with tin filtering) virtual monochromatic CT images. The single-energy and the dual-energy CT images are then converted to attenuation maps at 141 keV. SPECT images are reconstructed from 99mTc emission data of the phantom using each single-energy and dual-energy attenuation map and incorporating CTAC procedure. A region-of-in- terest analysis is performed to quantitatively compare the attenuation maps between the single-energy and the dual-energy techniques, each at an iodine-free position and a position adjacent to the iodine solutions. Results: At the iodine-free position, the phantom provides a uniform distribution of attenuation maps in both the single-energy and the dual-energy techniques. In the presence of adjacent iodine solutions, however, severe artifacts appeare in the single-energy CT images. These artifacts make attenuation values fluctuate, resulting in erroneous pixel values in the CTAC SPECT images. In contrast, dual-energy CT strongly suppresses the artifacts and hence improves the uniformity of the attenuation maps and the resultant SPECT images. Conclusions: Dual-energy CT with virtual monochromatic reconstruction has the potential to substantially reduce artifacts arising from dense materials. It has the potential to improve the accuracy of attenuation maps and the resultant CTAC SPECT images.展开更多

Quasi-monochromatic technique can enhance low contrast lesion detection by eliminating beam-hardening artifacts. We hypothesized that this technique would be feasible and can be used to assist in breast cancer early detection. Methods: The performance of stationary Digital Breast Tomosynthesis with quasi-monochromatic X-ray sources was evaluated using both simulated and physical phantoms. Normalized spectra in the fraction of total photons vs. photon energy were generated. Results: As expected, the peaked energies from sources, from smallest to largest, are Mo/Mo, W/Ag-1000, and W/Ce-10, W/Ce-100. For contrast vs. noise standard deviation on the simulated CIRS phantom, W/Ce-100 and W/Ce-10 have similar performance on both low and high contrast objects. For low contrast object, W/Ce-100 is barely noticeably better than W/Ce-10, and they are better than both W/Ag-1000 and Mo/Mo. For high contrast objects W/Ce-10 is slightly better than W/Ce-100. The spectra of the implemented W/Ce-10 X-ray source were measured, which matched the simulation well. The contrast noise ratios of reconstructed objects in American College of Radiology mammographic phantom with and without using W/Ce-10 combination are 7.1 and 5.4, respectively. Conclusions: The combination of stationary digital breast tomosynthesis and quasi-monochromatic technique can compensate the loss of X-ray flux due to heavy K-edge filtering. This technique can enable the stationary DBT scanners to operate at acceptable scanning times with better low contrast lesion detectability. Advances in Knowledge: The stationary digital breast tomosynthesis can provide high quality images within short scanning time by using X-ray source array, which makes quasi-monochromatic technique feasible.展开更多

The b FGF and TGF-β1 m RNA expression, protein levels and fluorescence intensity of the Müller cells were analyzed.·RESULTS: The b FGF m RNA expression and protein levels were significantly upregulated in Müller cells in all three experimental groups compared with the control group(P <0.05), while that of TGF-β1 was downregulated(P <0.05). Also, b FGF expression was positively correlated, but TGF-β1 expression was negatively correlated with illumination time. The largest changes for both cytokines were seen in the 24 h group. The changes in b FGF and TGF-β1 fluorescence intensity were highest in the 24 h group, and significant differences were observed among the experimental groups(P <0.05).·CONCLUSION: The expressions of b FGF and TGF-β1changed in a time-dependent manner in Müller cells exposed to 530 nm monochromatic light with 250 lx illumination intensity. Müller cells might play a role in the development of myopia by increasing b FGF expression or decreasing TGF-β1 expression. Changes in cytokine expression in retinal Müller cells may affect monochromatic light-induced myopia.展开更多

A multimonochromatic x-ray imager, MMI, records the spectral signature from an ICF implosion core with time resolution, 2D spatial resolution and spectral resolution. While narrow-band images and 2D space-resolved spectra from the MMI data constrain the temperature and the density spatial structure of the core, the accuracy of the images and the spectra highly depends on the quality of the MMI data and the processing tools. Here, we synthetically investigate the criterion for reliable MMI diagnostics and its effects on the accuracy of the reconstructed images. The pinhole array tilt determines the object spatial sampling efficiency and the minimum reconstruction width, w. When the spectral width associated with w is significantly narrower than the spectral linewidth, the line images reconstructed from the MMI data become reliable. The MMI setup has to be optimized for every application to meet this criterion for reliable ICF diagnostics.展开更多

In this study, a simple, easy-to-implement, yet effective monochromatic pyrometry is established for non-contact and full-field temperature measurements, which can significantly reduce the error caused by the camera’s channel crosstalk that commonly occurs in the existing improved two-color method. In addition, hightemperature digital image correlation, combined with band-pass filtering and monochromatic illumination, is applied for deformation measurement. Subsequently, an experimental system was set up to validate the accuracy of the proposed method, which consists of a CCD camera for image capturing, a blue bandpass filter for radiation suppression, blue light irradiation for light compensation, and an infrared pyrometer for temperature recording. The results of the thermal heating experiment on the C/SiC sample proved that the selection of camera channel R in monochromatic pyrometry can reduce the error by channel crosstalk, and the proposed method is applicable for synchronous measurement of temperature and deformation.展开更多

The dusty gas is taken to be a mixture of small solid particles and perfect gas,and solid particles are continuously distributed in the mixture. The similarity solutions are obtained and the effects of the variation of the radiation parameter, the ratio of the density of solid particles to the initial density of the gas, the mass concentration of solid particles in the mixture and the index for the time dependent energy law are investigated. It is observed that an increase in the radiation parameter has decaying effect on the shock waves; whereas the shock strength increases with an increase in the ratio of the density of solid particles to the initial density of the gas or the index for the time dependent energy law. Also, it is found that an increase in the radiation parameter has effect to decrease the flow variables except the density and the azimuthal component of fluid velocity. A comparison is also made between rotating and non-rotating cases.展开更多

文摘AIM: To investigate the value of computed tomography(CT) spectral imaging in the evaluation of intestinal hemorrhage.METHODS: Seven blood flow rates were simulated in vitro.Energy spectral CT and mixed-energy CT scanswere performed for each rate(0.5,0.4,0.3,0.2,0.1,0.05 and 0.025 m L/min).The detection rates and the contrast-to-noise ratios(CNRs) of the contrast agent extravasation regions were compared between the two scanning methods in the arterial phase(AP) and the portal venous phase(PVP).Comparisons of the CNR values between the PVP and the AP were made for each energy level and carried out using a completely random t test.A χ2 test was used to compare the detection rates obtained from the two scanning methods.RESULTS: The total detection rates for energy spectral CT and mixed-energy CT in the AP were 88.57%(31/35) and 65.71%(23/35),respectively,and the difference was significant(χ2 = 5.185,P = 0.023); the total detection rates in the PVP were 100.00%(35/35) and 91.4%(32/35),respectively,and the difference was not significant(χ2 = 1.393,P = 0.238).In the AP,the CNR of the contrast agent extravasation regions was 3.58 ± 2.09 on the mixed-energy CT images, but the CNRs were 8.78 ± 7.21 and 8.83 ± 6.75 at 50 and 60 keV,respectively,on the single-energy CT images, which were significantly different(3.58 ± 2.09 vs 8.78 ± 7.21,P = 0.031; 3.58 ± 2.09 vs 8.83 ± 6.75,P = 0.029).In the PVP,the differences between the CNRs at 40,50 and 60 keV different monochromatic energy levels and the polychromatic energy images were significant(19.35 ± 10.89 vs 11.68 ± 6.38,P = 0.010; 20.82 ± 11.26 vs 11.68 ± 6.38,P = 0.001; 20.63 ± 10.07 vs 11.68 ± 6.38,P = 0.001).The CNRs at the different energy levels in the AP and the PVP were significantly different(t =-2.415,-2.380,-2.575,-2.762,-2.945,-3.157,-3.996 and-3.189).CONCLUSION: Monochromatic energy imaging spectral CT is superior to polychromatic energy images for the detection of intestinal hemorrhage, and the detection was easier in the PVP compared with the AP.

文摘Illuminating conditions are crucial factors affecting the microalgal growth and biosynthesis. The effects of illuminating spectral quality on the growth and bio-component production of Nannochloris oculata were investigated. The results indicated that a high proportion of Red-light enhanced the pigments and carbohydrate production but reduced those of the biomass and lipid.Mono-chromatic Blue-light has advantageous effects on lipid production compared with Red-and White-light.The optimal light spectrum for the protein production was the combination of Red-and Blue-light at a ratio of 4:3 or 5:2.Among the seven fatty acids identified from N.oculata, the contents of C16:0,C18:0,and C18:3(n-3)in the lipid were inhibited by the increased proportion of Red-light while those of C18:2(n-9),C16:2(n-6),and C20:0 were inhibited by Blue-light.Monochromatic Red-and Blue-light and their com-binations were proposed as a promising illuminating strategy for the large-scale cultivation aiming for various bio-components.
文摘Effects of light intensity and quality of three kinds of LED monochromatic lights (blue, green, and red) on the growth of Skeletonema costatum are investigated in batch culture conditions. It is concluded that under different monochromatic light, the saturated light intensity decreases and the growth rate increases with the increasing of spectrum absorption coefficient.
文摘A probabilistic formalism, relying on Bayes’ theorem and linear Gaussian inversion, is adapted, so that a monochromatic problem can be investigated. From abstract point of view, the model posterior is investigated as well.
文摘Objective: Computed tomography (CT)-based attenuation correction (CTAC) offers the clear benefit of reliable reconstruction of single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) images through its ability to achieve object-specific attenuation maps, but artifacts from dense materials often deteriorate CTAC performance. It has the potential to improve the accuracy of attenuation maps and the resultant CTAC SPECT images.
文摘Objectives: Early detection and treatment provide the opportunity to decrease the mortality rate from breast cancer. Advances in Knowledge: The stationary digital breast tomosynthesis can provide high quality images within short scanning time by using X-ray source array, which makes quasi-monochromatic technique feasible.
文摘AIM: To expose rat retinal Müller cells to 530 nm monochromatic light and investigate the influence of varying light illumination times on basic fibroblast growth factor(b FGF) and transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1) expression.·METHODS: Three groups of rat retinal Müller cells cultured in vitro under a 530 nm monochromatic light were divided into 6, 12 and 24 h experimental groups, while cells incubated under dark conditions served as the control group. Changes in cytokine expression in retinal Müller cells may affect monochromatic light-induced myopia.

文摘Curved crystal imaging is an important means of plasma diagnosis.Due to the short wavelengths of high-energy X rays and the fixed lattice constant of the spherical crystal,it is difficult to apply the spherical crystal in high-energy X-ray imaging. In this study,we have developed a high-energy,high-resolution X-ray imager based on a toroidal crystal that can effectively correct astigmatism. We prepared a Ge<511>toroidal crystal for backlighting Mo Kα1 characteristic lines(∼17.48 keV)and verified its high-resolution imaging ability in high-energy X-ray region, achieving a spatial resolution of 5–10μm in a field of view larger than 1.0 mm.

文摘Temperature and density asymmetry diagnosis is critical to advance inertial confinement fusion(ICF) science. The MMI setup has to be optimized for every application to meet this criterion for reliable ICF diagnostics.

文摘In this study,a toroidal quartz(2023)crystal is designed for monochromatic X-ray imaging at 72.3◦.The designed crystal produces excellent images of a laser-produced plasma emitting He-like Ti X-rays at 4.75 keV.Based on the simulations, the imaging resolutions of the spherical and toroidal crystals in the sagittal direction are found to be 15 and 5μm,respectively.Moreover,the simulation results show that a higher resolution image of the source can be obtained by using a toroidal crystal. An X-ray backlight imaging experiment is conducted using 4.75 keV He-like Ti X-rays,a 3×3 metal grid,an imaging plate and a toroidal quartz crystal with a lattice constant of 2d=0.2749 nm.The meridional and sagittal radii of the toroidalα-quartz crystal are 295.6 and 268.5 mm,respectively.A highly resolved image of the microgrid, with a spatial resolution of 10μm,is obtained in the experiment.By using similar toroidal crystal designs, the application of a spatially resolved spectrometer with high-resolution X-ray imaging ability is capable of providing imaging data with the same magnification ratio in the sagittal and meridional planes.

文摘We report for the first time the theoretical analysis and experimental results of a white-light reconstructed monochromatic 3-D image synthesizing tomograms by multiple rainbow holo-graphy with vertical-area partition (VAP) approach. The theoretical and experimental results show that 3-D monochromatic image can be synthesized by recording the master hologram by VAP ap-proach without any distortions either in gray scale or in geometrical position. A 3-D monochromatic image synthesized from a series of medical tomograms is presented in this paper for the first time.

文摘A vertex-colored path P is rainbow if its internal vertices have distinct colors;whereas P is monochromatic if its internal vertices are colored the same. For a vertex-colored connected graph G,the rainbow vertex-connection number rvc(G)is the minimum number of colors used such that there is a rainbow path joining any two vertices of G;whereas the monochromatic vertex-connection number mvc(G)is the maximum number of colors used such that any two vertices of G are connected by a monochromatic path. These two opposite concepts are the vertex-versions of rainbow connection number rc(G)and monochromatic connection number mc(G)respectively. The study on rc(G)and mc(G)of random graphs drew much attention, and there are few results on the rainbow and monochromatic vertex-connection numbers. In this paper,we consider these two vertex-connection numbers of random graphs and establish sharp threshold functions for them, respectively.

文摘Measuring the temperature and deformation synchronously at elevated temperatures is technically challenging and has become a major concern in the evaluation of mechanical properties. The results of the thermal heating experiment on the C/SiC sample proved that the selection of camera channel R in monochromatic pyrometry can reduce the error by channel crosstalk, and the proposed method is applicable for synchronous measurement of temperature and deformation.
文摘A self-similar flow behind a cylindrical shock wave is studied under the action of monochromatic radiation in a rotational axisymmetric dusty gas. A comparison is also made between rotating and non-rotating cases.
