A detailed review of current deepwater platforms worldwide was performed through the examples of industry projects, and the pros and cons of each platform are discussed. Four types of platforms are currently used for the deepwater development: tension leg platform, Spar, semi-submersible platform, and the floating production system offloading. An identical turbine system was also installed at the adjacent waterfront. The separation of the two turbines was 3.7 km. Wind flow tends to be more stable and the average wind speed is often larger in offshore areas than adjacent land areas at typical wind turbine hub height. This study focused on the wind condition of a nearshore area to clarify the advantages of nearshore wind farming. Comparison of incremental dynamic analysis results for both directions of the platform shows that the lateral strength of the platform in the float over direction is less than its lateral strength in other direction. Dynamic characteristics measurement of a scale model of platform was also performed using forced vibration tests. From experimental measurement of the scaled model, it was observed that dynamic characteristic of the platform is different in the float over direction compared to the other direction. Therefore, a new offshore installed bracing system for the float over direction was proposed for improvement of seismic performance of this type of platform. Finally, the structure with the modified system was assessed using the probabilistic seismic assessment method as well as experimental measurement of its dynamic characteristics. It was observed that the proposed offshore installed bracing system improves the performance of platforms subjected to strong ground motion.展开更多

However, countries with limited shallow water areas require innovative floating platforms to deploy wind turbines offshore in order to harness wind energy to generate electricity in deep seas. The performances of motion and mooring system dynamics are vital to designing a cost effective and durable floating platform. This paper describes a numerical model to simulate dynamic behavior of a new semi-submersible type floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) system. The wind turbine was modeled as a wind block with a certain thrust coefficient, and the hydrodynamics and mooting system dynamics of the platform were calculated by SESAM soRware. The effect of change in environmental conditions on the dynamic response of the system under wave and wind loading was examined. The results indicate that the semi-submersible concept has excellent performance and SESAM could be an effective tool for floating wind turbine design and analysis.展开更多

In this paper a new damage identification method is proposed based on meta-heuristic algorithms using the dynamic response of the TLP(Tension-Leg Platform) floating wind turbine structure. The Genetic Algorithms(GA), Artificial Immune System(AIS), Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO), and Artificial Bee Colony(ABC) are chosen for minimizing the object function, defined properly for damage identification purpose. In addition to studying the capability of mentioned algorithms in correctly identifying the damage, the effect of the response type on the results of identification is studied. Also, the results of proposed damage identification are investigated with considering possible uncertainties of the structure. Finally, for evaluating the proposed method in real condition, a 1/100 scaled experimental setup of TLP Floating Wind Turbine(TLPFWT) is provided in a laboratory scale and the proposed damage identification method is applied to the scaled turbine.展开更多

Its dynamic responses under offshore wind and wave environment provide essential reference for the design and installation. In this study, the dynamic responses of a 6 MW Spar type FOWT designed for the water depth of 100 m are investigated by means of the wave tank experiment and numerical analysis. A scaled model is manufactured for the experiment at a ratio of65.3, while the numerical model is constructed on the open-source platform FAST(Fatigue, Aerodynamics,Structures, and Turbulence). Still water tests, wind-induced only tests, wave-induced only tests and combined windwave-current tests are all conducted experimentally and numerically. The accuracy of the experimental set-up as well as the loading generation has been verified. Surge, pitch and heave motions are selected to analyze and the numerical results agree well with the experimental values. Even though results obtained by using the FOWT calculation model established in FAST software show some deviations from the test results, the trends are always consistent. Both experimental and numerical studies demonstrate that they are reliable for the designed 6 MW Spar type FOWT.展开更多

Such profiles make the flow velocity through the runners two times faster than that of the traditional fixed/caisson type OWC (oscillating water column), that is, the runners may be able to get the dynamical energy eight times on the ideal. Besides, the runners counter-drive the inner and the outer armatures of the peculiar generator, respectively, and then the relative rotational speed is two times as fast as the speed of the single runner/armature. Such characteristics make the runner diameter large, namely the output higher, as you request, because the rotational moment of the power unit hardly act on the floating type platform. This paper, as the first step, discusses the platform behaviors at the normally oscillating wave. The platform behavior is affected by not only the length and the amplitude of the wave but also the relation between the weight of the platform and the buoyancy force of the floats.展开更多

A novel dynamics analysis method for the spar-type FOWT system is proposed in this paper based on the theorem of moment of momentum and the Newton’s second law. The full nonlinearity of the equations of motion (EOMs) and the full nonlinear coupling between external loads and the motions are preserved in this method. Compared with the conventional methods, this method is more transparent and it can be applied directly to the large-amplitude rotation cases. An in-house code is developed to implement this method. The capability of in-house code is verified by comparing its simulation results with those predicted by FAST. Based on the in-house code, the dynamic responses of a spar-type FOWT system are investigated under various conditions.展开更多

文摘Offshore oil and gas development plays an important part in the global energy sector.Offshore platforms and flexible pipes are the key equipments in the whole offshore oil and gas development system.Because of the randomness and uncertainty of wave and current loads in the ocean environment, the structural design and mechanical analysis of the marine equipment can be highly complicated. Therefore, this paper reviews the recent works of the theoretical model, numerical simulation, and experimental test in three research areas:hydrodynamic analysis of offshore platforms, structural mechanics analysis of flexible pipe and cable, and monitoring technology of offshore floating structures under marine loads.By analyzing their main research methods and key technical difficulties, this paper provides theoretical basis and technical support for the reliability engineering application of offshore platforms and flexible pipelines. Also,China is relatively backward in the design of marine floating platform, the design, analysis and testing of flexible pipeline and cable,as well as the marine equipment prototype monitoring technology research.Calling for breakthroughs at the earliest possible stage in the above fields, prime research should be focused on and strategic planning should be made to deal with“key areas and stranglehold problems”.It is of great significance for the development of China's deep-sea energy and resource development of independent technology and on time to achieve the“carbon peak”national strategic objectives.

文摘In this paper, the seismic response of a newly designed steel jacket offshore platform with a float over deck (FOD) system in the Persian Gulf was investigated through incremental dynamic analysis. It was observed that the proposed offshore installed bracing system improves the performance of platforms subjected to strong ground motion.

文摘The development of offshore wind farms was originally carried out in shallow water areas with fixed (seabed mounted) structures. The results indicate that the semi-submersible concept has excellent performance and SESAM could be an effective tool for floating wind turbine design and analysis.
文摘Damage identification of the offshore floating wind turbine by vibration/dynamic signals is one of the important and new research fields in the Structural Health Monitoring(SHM). Finally, for evaluating the proposed method in real condition, a 1/100 scaled experimental setup of TLP Floating Wind Turbine(TLPFWT) is provided in a laboratory scale and the proposed damage identification method is applied to the scaled turbine.

文摘The floating offshore wind turbine(FOWT) is widely used for harvesting marine wind energy. Both experimental and numerical studies demonstrate that they are reliable for the designed 6 MW Spar type FOWT.
文摘This serial research develops the unique ocean wave power station, which is composed of the floating type platform with a pair of the floats arranged at the interval of one wavelength and the counter-rotating type wave power unit whose runners are submerged in the seawater at the middle position of the platform. The platform behavior is affected by not only the length and the amplitude of the wave but also the relation between the weight of the platform and the buoyancy force of the floats.

文摘The dynamic behavior of floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) is crucial for its design and optimization. Based on the in-house code, the dynamic responses of a spar-type FOWT system are investigated under various conditions.

文摘In this paper,a numerical investigation of a float-over installation for an offshore platform is presented to verify the feasibility of the actual installation. The hydrodynamic performance of a T-barge is investigated in the frequency domain, and the coupled motions are analyzed in the time domain. We then compare with those of the model test and determine that the response amplitude operator and the time series agree quite well. The barge exhibits favorable hydrodynamic behavior in the considered sea state, and the equipment loads are allowable.Themooring systemand sway fender forces are within the permissible range.Based on these results,we can verify that the actual installation of the offshore platform is feasible. We accurately simulated many important factors and effectively reduced the risk associated with the offshore installation, which is of great importance. As such,we demonstrate that the numerical simulation of the float-over installation for offshore platforms has practical engineering significance.
文摘This paper proposes a new concept of an actively-controlled wave energy converter for suppressing the pitch and roll motions of floating offshore wind turbines. The wave energy converter consists of several floating bodies that receive the wave energy, actuators that convert the wave energy into electrical energy and generate the mechanical forces, and rigid bars that connect the floating bodies and the wind turbine platform and deliver the actuator forces to the platform. The rotational torques that are required to minimize the platform pitch and roll motions are determined using a linear quadratic regulator. The torques determined in this manner are realized through the actuator forces that maximize the wave power capture as well. The performance of the proposed wave energy converter in simultaneously suppressing the platform pitch and roll motions and extracting the wave energy is validated through simulations.
