Methods: The undergraduate students of medical imaging technology in 2019 and 2020 in a u...Objective: To explore the application effect of CBL combined with rain classroom teaching method in medical statistics courses. Methods: The undergraduate students of medical imaging technology in 2019 and 2020 in a university were selected as the research objects. A cluster sampling method was used to select 79 undergraduate students from 2019 in the control group and 75 undergraduate students from 2020 in the experimental group. Traditional teaching method and CBL combined with rain classroom teaching method was used in the control group and experimental group respectively. The final examination scores of the two groups were compared. In experimental group, the correlation between the average score in the rain classroom and the final examination score was tested, and the teaching effect was evaluated. Results: The average score of final examination in experimental group and control group was 79.13 ± 10.32 points and 71.54 ± 14.752 points, respectively, which had a statistically significant difference (Z = 2.586, P = 0.012);the final examination scores of the students in the experimental group were positively correlated with the average scores of the rain classroom (r = 0.372, P = 0.001), and the proportion of satisfaction in the experimental group was 94.7%. Conclusion: The CBL combined with rain classroom teaching method can improve the teaching effectiveness of medical statistics courses.展开更多

However, research to date has been insufficient to confirm the effectiveness of the flipped classroom approach. Since most of the Chinese studies are published in Chinese journals, they may not be easily accessible to international researchers. Therefore,this meta-analysis aimed to review the effectiveness of a flipped classroom in nursing education both in English and Chinese databases.Objective: The aim of the present study was to identify the robust available evidence about the effectiveness of flipped classrooms in nursing education through a systematic review and meta-analysis.Methods: A systematic search of English databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, Science Director,CINAHL and Google Scholar, and Chinese databases, including Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI), WanFang Data, VIP Information and Chinese Biomedical Literature(CMB), were conducted to identify peer-reviewed studies that met the inclusion criteria. Two reviewers independently performed study identification with Endnote X7 software and used Excel to extract data. The risk of bias in the included studies was assessed with Cochrane Collaboration's risk of bias tool, and a meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan 5.3 software following the guidelines proposed by PRISMA reporting standards with the protocol register No. CRD42016041826.Results: A total of 29 studies were included in systematic review. There was a significant postintervention improvement in academic performance both in knowledge with a pooled random-effects standardized mean difference of 1.13 and skills with a pooled random-effects standardized mean difference(SMD) of 1.68. Students' self-learning abilities were also improved with a pooled random-effects SMD of 1.51 compared with traditional lecture. In the subgroup analysis, we found that the effect sizes had high fidelity in terms of nursing degrees and research settings. There was a high rating of flipped classroom pedagogy from teaching evaluations, study satisfaction, study attitude and improvement in critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Conclusions: These results indicated that a flipped classroom might help nursing students improve in knowledge, skills, attitudes, self-learning, study satisfaction, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.We recommend adopting this approach for nursing education reform. There is a call for robust empirical research and unification of appraisal standards for further support of the effectiveness of the flipped classroom. Furthermore, a meta-regression analysis is also recommended to explore the sources of heterogeneity in included studies.展开更多

There was a significant postintervention improvement in academic performance both in knowledge with a pooled random-effects standardized mean difference of 1.13 and skills with a pooled random-effects standardized mean difference(SMD) of 1.68. Students' self-learning abilities were also improved with a pooled random-effects SMD of 1.51 compared with traditional lecture. In the subgroup analysis, we found that the effect sizes had high fidelity in terms of nursing degrees and research settings. There was a high rating of flipped classroom pedagogy from teaching evaluations, study satisfaction, study attitude and improvement in critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Conclusions: These results indicated that a flipped classroom might help nursing students improve in knowledge, skills, attitudes, self-learning, study satisfaction, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.We recommend adopting this approach for nursing education reform. There is a call for robust empirical research and unification of appraisal standards for further support of the effectiveness of the flipped classroom. Furthermore, a meta-regression analysis is also recommended to explore the sources of heterogeneity in included studies.

However, is it necessary for language teachers to match their teaching styles with their students' learning styles?Is it feasible for the teachers to match their teaching styles to every individual student's learning styles?Because of the incompatible learning and teaching styles, suggestions on how to deal with the difficulties in the matching of these two styles will be given.
文摘Research on teacher talk has shown that many different teaching behaviors between native speaking teachers and nonnative speaking teachers may result from their different English proficiency.This paper aims to examine the differences between Australian English teachers(AETs)and Chinese English teachers(CETs)in language classrooms in terms of language use,linguistic complexity,linguistic variety.Two college teachers(one AET and one CET)were observed.Data were collected via classroom observation and analyzed by a qualitative research method.The findings revealed that there were certain differences in the above aspects.The results,therefore,have implications for language teaching.
文摘By generalizing the existing literature on the study of code-switching into four basic approaches, the present paper points out that some Chinese researchers' proposal of studying code-switching from a pragmatic perspective is convincing in terms of revealing the complexity of code-switching. With this in mind, the author tries to collect some examples of code-switching in EFL classrooms in China and tries to find out whether it is applicable to analyze these examples by using a pragmatic approach.
