Neotectonism occurred intensively in the Bozhong depression in the Bohai Bay Basin, which was reflected vertically by dramatic subsidence and a number of uplifts and laterally by notable fault movements. This particularity has resulted in the special petroleum geological conditions of the Bozhong depression which are different from those of adjacent lands. For example, the source rocks of the Shahejie Formation were overpressured and hydrocarbon generation occurred in the late stage; the Dongying Formation was deeply buried below the hydrocarbon-generating threshold, therefore there were sufficient oil sources. The rapid subsidence led to starved sedimentation of the Guantao Formation fine sandstone and the regional Minghuazhen Formation lacustrine shale, which formed the Neogene regional reservoir-caprock association. The active faults formed in the neotectonism became passages for oil to migrate from the Paleogene to Neogene. The traps formed by late fault activity and accompanied anticlines provided spaces for the formation of reservoirs. All the above factors match well with one another in the Bozhong depression, providing favorable conditions for the formation of a series of large oilfields in the region 展开更多

The first concerns the final closure of Paleo-Asian Ocean in Xing-Meng area, and the other concerns the folding and lifting of the Xing-Meng Trough. The focus of thses issues is the Late Permian sedimentary environment, which is generally considered to be either an exclusively continental environment or from the closed inland sea environment in the Early to Middle stage to continental lacustrine environment in the late stage. In recent years, we have successively discovered abundant typical marine fossils (e.g., bryozoans and calcareous algae) in the Upper Permian thick limestone layer from Linxi County and Ar Horqin Banner in eastern region of Inner Mongolia and Jiutain County in Jilin Province. Complex superimposed basins exhibit multi-stage tectonic events and multi-stage reservoir formation; hydrocarbon reservoirs formed in the early stage have generally late-stage genesis characteristics after undergoing adjustment, reconstruction and destruction of later-stage multiple tectonic events. In this paper, this phenomenon is called the late-stage reservoir formation effect. The late-stage reservoir formation effect is a basic feature of oil and gas-forming reservoirs in complex superimposed basins, revealing not only multi-stage character, relevance and complexity of oil and gas- forming reservoirs in superimposed basins but also the importance of late-stage reservoir formation. Late-stage reservoir formation is not a basic feature of oil and gas forming reservoir in superimposed basins. Multi-stage reservoir formation only characterizes one aspect of oil and gas-forming reservoir in superimposed basins and does not represent fully the complexity of oil and gas-forming reservoir in superimposed basins. We suggest using "late-stage reservoir formation effect" to replace the "late-stage reservoir formation" concept to guide the exploration of complex reservoirs in superimposed basins. Under current geologic conditions, the late-stage reservoir formation effect is represented mainly by four basic forms: phase transformation, scale reconstruction, component variation and trap adjustment. The late-stage reservoir formation effect is produced by two kinds of geologic processes: first, the oil and gas retention function of various geologic thresholds (hydrocarbon expulsion threshold, hydrocarbon migration threshold, and hydrocarbon accumulating threshold) causes the actual time of oil and gas reservoir formation to be later than the time of generation of large amounts of hydrocarbon in a conventional sense, producing the late-stage reservoir formation effect; second, multiple types of tectonic events (continuously strong reconstruction, early-stage strong reconstruction, middle-stage strong reconstruction, late-stage strong reconstruction and long-term stable sedimentation) after oil and gas reservoir formation lead to adjustment, reconstruction and destruction of reservoirs formed earlier, and form new secondary hydrocarbon reservoirs due to the late-stage reservoir formation effect. 展开更多

The Luan River is the most important water system in north-eastern Hebei Province,China and is located in the transitional zone of the Eastern Yan Mountains,North China Plain and Songliao Plain.The well-developed river terraces of its tributary,the Yixun River,provide excellent information for studying neotectonics and climate change.There are seven terraces in the lower reaches of the Yixun River,numbered T7-T1.The optically stimulated luminescence dating results of 23 samples show that terraces T7-T2 formed at 111.36±5.83 ka,78.20±4.45 ka,65.29±4.15 ka,56.44±3.07 ka,40.08±2.66 ka,and 13.14±0.76 ka,respectively.A comparison with the oxygen isotope curves of deep-sea sediments reveals that the sediment formation of each terrace corresponded to cold periods of marine isotope stages MIS 4 and MIS 2 and the relatively cold periods of MIS 5e,MIS 3,and MIS 1.Since the Late Pleistocene,the incision rate of the Yixun River has ranged from 0.371-1.740 mm/a.During the formation of T7-T6,T5-T4,T4-T3,and T3-T2,the incision rate was low.However,in the two stages during which T6-T5 and T2-T1 formed(13.14±0.76 ka to 0.58±0.08 ka and 10.79±0.64 ka to 0.16±0.01 ka),these rates reached 1.554 mm/a and 1.592-1.740 mm/a,respectively.At approximately 30 ka,the activity of the Langying Fault increased,leading to footwall uplift.The river gathered in the north of Langying to form the ancient Erdaowan Lake,which resulted in the drying of the river in the lower reaches of the Yixun River during the last glacial maximum without forming river deposits.In the Early Holocene,headward erosion in the lower reaches of the Yixun River was enhanced,which resulted in the disappearance of the lake,and incised meandering formed due to increased neotectonism.Based on the analyses of river incision and the formation of ancient lakes and incised meandering,it was inferred that there have been three periods of strong tectonism in the river basin since the Late Pleistocene. 展开更多

In recent years, Chinese petroleum geologi... Late-stage is defined here as the period when Neotectonism occurred since 5.1 Ma. Most petroliferous basins in China lie in the areas where Neotectonism occurred intensively. In recent years, Chinese petroleum geologists have paid much attention to late-stage petroleum accumulation. The PL19-3 giant oilfield is situated where faulting activities occurred violently during Neotectonism. To understand the mechanism of lat-stage rapid accumulation, we discussed the most important aspects responsible for the formation of the giant oilfield, including oil generation, active oil-source rock occurrence, fault activity and fault conduits, late-stage rapid oil injection as well as the distinguishing indicators. This study shows that: (1) sufficient oil was supplied to the PL19-3 field since 5.1 Ma because the PL19-3 structure was surrounded by four sags in which three intervals of high-quality source rocks remained active during Neotectonism; (2) densely distributed faults and high porosity/permeability sandstone carrier beds comprised the effective conduit system for oil migration and injection; (3) oil migrated along the faults and charged the PL19-3 structure rapidly by means of seismic pumping which was triggered by frequent earthquakes during Neotetonism. It is documented that elevated reservoir temperature, abnormal geothermal gradients and abnormally high homogenization temperatures of the fluid inclusions are the indicators for late-stage rapid oil accumulation. 展开更多

Anatolia is the global archetype of tectonic escape,as witnessed by the devastating 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquake sequence,and the 2020 Samos Earthquake,which show different kinematics related to the framework of the escape tectonics.Global Positioning System(GPS)motions of the wedge-shaped plate differ regionally from northwestwards to southwestwards(from east to west).Anatolia was extruded westward from the Arabian-Eurasian collision along the North and East Anatolian fault systems,rotating counterclockwise into the oceanic free-faces of the Mediterranean and Aegean,with dramatic extension of western Anatolia in traditional interpretations.However,which is the dominant mechanism for this change in kinematics,extrusion related to the Arabia/Eurasia collision or rollback of the African slab beneath western Anatolia is still unclear.To assess the dominant driving mechanisms across Anatolia,we analyze recent GPS velocity datasets,and decomposed them into N-S and E-W components,revealing that westward motion is essentially constant across the whole plate and consistent with the slip rates of the North and East Anatolia fault zones,while southward components increase dramatically in the transition area between central and western Anatolia,where a slab tear is suggested.This phenomenon is related to different tectonic driving mechanisms.The ArabiaEurasia collision drives the Anatolian Plate uniformly westwards while western Anatolia is progressively more affected by the southward retreating African subducting slab west of the Aegean/Cypriot slab tear,which significantly increases the southward component of the velocity field and causes the apparent curve of the whole modern velocity field.The 2020 and 2023 earthquake focal mechanisms also confirm that the northward colliding Arabian Plate forced Anatolia to the west,and the retreating African slab is pulling the upper plate of western Anatolian apart in extension.We propose that the Anatolian Plate is moving westwards as one plate with an additional component of extension in its west caused by the local driving mechanism,slab rollback(with the boundary above the slab tear around Isparta),rather than separate microplates or a near-pole spin of the entire Anatolian Plate,and the collisionrelated extrusion is the dominant mechanism of tectonic escape. 展开更多

新构造与活动构造的定量或半定量研究很大程度上依赖于对地层序列及其时间标尺的确立,获取相对精确的地层年龄和事件的发生年龄是决定新构造与活动构造定量研究程度的最主要因素。目前,约27种定年技术能够应用于沉积物定年和晚新生代的... 新构造与活动构造的定量或半定量研究很大程度上依赖于对地层序列及其时间标尺的确立,获取相对精确的地层年龄和事件的发生年龄是决定新构造与活动构造定量研究程度的最主要因素。目前,约27种定年技术能够应用于沉积物定年和晚新生代的变形测定,这些技术方法可以分为数值(绝对)定年法、相对定年法和校正定年法。数值定年法可得到相对明确的绝对年龄值,因此最为常用,但应用范围受限于测试物质或对象的不同,因而准确定年还需要辅以相对定年法或校正定年法。相对定年法应用范围广泛,但缺乏足够的精确性,需要特定的标准来比对。校正定年法仅在部分情况下适用,且其适用性取决于对已知地质事件的认可度,如火山爆发或磁极倒转。所有定年方法都有其特定的定年条件和适用范围,且可能受到各种干扰因素的影响导致误差,如在数值定年的过程中可能出现一些非分析性错误。因此对于第四纪定年法在新构造与活动构造研究中年龄结果的可靠性评估,需要综合沉积物的地貌-地层相对时序、不同定年方法比较或相同方法在地层上的时序一致性等来实现。近年来,已有方法的持续改良和试验性方法的不断发展使得新构造与活动构造定年精度和定量化研究程度得到极大提升,尤其是14C、光释光、U系、宇宙成因核素(10Be,36Cl和26Al等)和热年代学等常用定年方法为新构造与活动构造的定量研究提供了重要的年代学手段和依据。此外,土壤发育、岩石风化和地形改造程度等相对定年法的不断发展,也为新构造变形及活动性研究提供了很多必需的辅助年龄约束。 展开更多

依据最新的高分辨率单道地震测网,结合前人研究成果,编制了渤海中西部海域中更新统、上更新统、全新统和中更新统以来的地层厚度图,揭示受到喜马拉雅造山运动的影响,区域应力场从岩石圈热沉降中的裂后弱伸展环境转变为北东东—东西向水... 依据最新的高分辨率单道地震测网,结合前人研究成果,编制了渤海中西部海域中更新统、上更新统、全新统和中更新统以来的地层厚度图,揭示受到喜马拉雅造山运动的影响,区域应力场从岩石圈热沉降中的裂后弱伸展环境转变为北东东—东西向水平挤压应力场,第四纪以前以渤中凹陷和歧口凹陷中北部为沉降中心差异沉积,早更新世和中更新世,张家口-蓬莱断裂带与秦皇岛-旅顺断裂带沿NW向左旋走滑,发生显著差异沉降,沉降中心北移,并被秦皇岛-旅顺断裂所控制,等厚度线整体呈NW向。共轭NE向新生庙西北-黄河口断裂带发育活动并发生右旋剪切平移,郯庐断裂南段由于其北北东走向受到区域应力场的抑制至少在中更新世以前便失去整体活动性。晚更新世和全新世,区域受喜马拉雅造山运动影响显著减弱,以区域整体沉降和均衡沉降为主,断裂活动减弱,数量也大大减少。 展开更多
