In recent years,there has not been much progress in developing anxiolytic drugs.Amongst the barriers are the lack of clarity on the pathogenesis of anxiety disorders,low product conversion rates for developing drugs t...In recent years,there has not been much progress in developing anxiolytic drugs.Amongst the barriers are the lack of clarity on the pathogenesis of anxiety disorders,low product conversion rates for developing drugs targeting the receptors,and species variability.Some scientists have focused on natural medicines,especially herbal medicines in traditional Chinese medicine.New drugs with excellent anxiolytic activity are hoped to be found in herbal medicines with anxiolytic effects.This mini-review summarised three Chinese herbal medicines with anxiolytic effects and anxiolytic herbal formulas used in the traditional Chinese medicine clinic.Several key issues that block the development of new anxiolytic drugs are also discussed.We hope to provide some ideas for researching and developing new anxiolytic drugs and studying anxiolytic components in traditional Chinese medicine.展开更多
Objective:To develop new therapeutic strategies for diabetes mellitus(DM)by analyzing the mechanisms of action of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)'xiaoke'formulae(TCM prescriptions for remedying xiaoke).Metho...Objective:To develop new therapeutic strategies for diabetes mellitus(DM)by analyzing the mechanisms of action of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)'xiaoke'formulae(TCM prescriptions for remedying xiaoke).Methods:We characterized 291 xiaoke formulae,including the herbs contained,chemical composition,constituents'targets,and corresponding genes.Xiaoke-related genes were retrieved based on the relationships of constituents'targets and xiaoke formulae,and a threshold of over 95.88%occurrence of each constituent target in the 291 TCM formulae served as a definition for xiaoke-related genes.Upon comparison with DM-related genes in the DisGeNET database,the genes differing in expression between cases administered TCM and synthetic drugs were explored using a TCM grammar system.Results:The results showed that xiaoke formulae and 14 exclusively xiaoke-related genes were significantly associated with multiple biological processes closely related to DM and diabetic complications(P<.01).Moreover,intervention in the expression of these xiaoke-related genes would affect DM-related genes directly or indirectly.Conclusion:The 14 xiaoke-related genes APEX1,EHMT2,TSHR,CBX1,FEN1,GMNN,JUN,KMT2A,MAPT,POLl,USP1,PIN1,POLB,and POLK can serve as candidate genes for antidiabetic drug design.Compared with DM-related genes in DisGeNET,intervention in the expression of 14 xiaoke-related genes by TCM formulae has the potential to not only lower blood glucose,but also reduce the occurrence of some side effects and inhibit the development of diabetic complications.These findings will contribute to the discovery of new strategies for treating DM.展开更多
AIM: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) infection. METHODS: We electronically and manually searched electronic databases, refer...AIM: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) infection. METHODS: We electronically and manually searched electronic databases, references lists and conferences compilations, and included all randomized clinical trials comparing the treatment of H pylori using TCM with proton pump inhibitor or colloidal bismuth subcitratebased triple therapy as controls. The Jadad score was used to assess trial quality, H pylori eradication rate and the incidence of side effects were taken as outcome measurements, and heterogeneity analysis, meta-analysis and funnel plot analysis were conducted. RESULTS: Sixteen trials were included. The Jadad scores of all the trials were not more than 2. Clinical heterogeneity and substantial statistical heterogeneity existed among the trials (P = 0.001, I 2 = 59%) and meta-analysis was not conducted. The average eradication rates following TCM and triple therapy were 72% and 78% and the incidence of side effects were 2% and 29%, respectively. The funnel plot was obviously asymmetric. CONCLUSION: Available evidence is not convincing enough to show that TCM has the same efficacy as triple therapy in H pylori treatment. TCM may be safer than triple therapy. TCM should not be recommended as monotherapy in H pylori infection.展开更多

Discovery and validation of PTDs has become the “bottle-neck” restricted new drug research and development and is urgently solved. Innovative drug research is of great significance and bright prospects. This paper mainly discusses the “druggability” and specificity of PTDs, the “druglikeness” of drug candidates, the methods and technologies of the discovery and validation of PTDs and their application. It is very important to achieve the invention and innovation strategy “from gene to drug”. In virtue of modern high-new technology, especially CADD, combined with TCM theory, research and develop TCM and initiate an innovating way fitting our country progress. It means that for a human body, there is the mathematical structure of both Zangxiang and Jingluo as her/his second physiological system. It can be used to determine both the root-cause and symptoms of the sick organ by using both Zangxiang and Jingluo. In general, for the human blood pH value, the normal range of theory is [7.34539, 7.45461] nearly to [7.35, 7.45], and the center is 7.4. Methods: The inhibition of CT isolates by these medicines was detected by micro-culture techniq...Objective:To detect the inhibition of urogenital chlamydia trachomatis (CT) by 12 traditional Chinese medicines in vitro. Methods: The inhibition of CT isolates by these medicines was detected by micro-culture technique with McCoy cells in vitro. Results: All the diuretic traditional Chinese medicines inhibited urogenital CT. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) ranged from 0.122 mg ml^-1 to 62.5mg ml^-1. Diathus superbus L., Poria cocos (Shcw.) Woft, Polyporus umbellatus (Pers.) Fries, and Artemisia capillaries Thunb showed stronger inhibition than the other eight traditional Chinese medicines. The numbers and sizes of inclusions bodies reduced gradually and disappeared finally with the increase of the concentrations. Conclusion: All the 12 diuretic traditional Chinese medicines inhibited urogenital CT.展开更多

文摘At present,hypertension has the phenomenon of increasing incidence and advancing age of onset.It can be complicated by various cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and has a poor prognosis.Its pathogenesis is related to vascular endothelial injury and its mediated inflammation,blood flow,changes in mechanical force,and vascular remodeling.Vascular biomechanical changes are the early and critical pathogenic factors of this disease.Mechanosensitive ion channels and their proteins affect the pathological process of hypertension by improving cell membrane tension,regulating vascular tension and contractility,and participating in vascular biomechanical changes such as vascular remodeling.However,the drugs currently used to treat high blood pressure only slow the progression of the disease.Therefore,it is necessary to find and study effective medicines to treat hypertension.At present,modern medical methods do not have targeted treatment measures.Traditional Chinese medicine plays a significant role in treating this disease based on the principle of“treatment according to the syndrome”.Traditional Chinese medicine regulates the mechanical force of blood flow and maintains blood pressure balance in patients with hypertension.There are many kinds of Chinese patent medicines used to treat hypertension with good curative effects.
文摘Peripheral vascular disease embraces a variety of conditions such as thromboangiitis obliterans, Raynaud's disease, thrombophlebitis, aorto-arteritis, obliterate atherosclerosis, varix or phlebothrombosis of the lower limb. Although the affected blood vessel may be arterial or venous one and caused either by inflammation or degenerate changes, they share common symptoms and signs, such as blood stasis, ischemia, thrombosis, ecchymosis, swelling, constriction or obliteration of blood vessels due to circulatory impairment. Since they share common characteristics, the treating principles and methods will be discussed as follows.

文摘Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD)has a high prevalence worldwide.Li et al performed a well-designed study on the efficacy of modified Xiaochaihu decoction(MXD)for GERD,which showed that MXD is an optional therapy for GERD beyond proton pump inhibitors(PPIs).The herbal granule administration mode minimized the bias from traditional herbal formula in clinical trials.One limitation of that study was that it lacked records of side effects and rescue medication.As a chronic disease with recurrent symptoms,GERD rehabilitation requires prolonged observation of the clinical course with MXD therapy.
文摘In recent years,using network pharmacology and molecular docking technology to reveal the therapeutic targets of irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)has become a research hotspot.This paper summarizes 31 studies of traditional Chinese medicine for IBS by domestic and foreign scholars,and expounds the action mechanism of single drug,drug pair and compound prescription in the treatment of IBS from the aspects of drug activity,action target,biological process and pathway analysis.It also discusses the shortcomings and prospects of network pharmacology and molecular docking technology in the field of traditional Chinese medicine research,and provides reference for expanding the research ideas of traditional Chinese medicine in treating IBS.

文摘Objective:To detect the inhibition of urogenital chlamydia trachomatis (CT) by 12 traditional Chinese medicines in vitro. Methods: The inhibition of CT isolates by these medicines was detected by micro-culture technique with McCoy cells in vitro. Results: All the diuretic traditional Chinese medicines inhibited urogenital CT. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) ranged from 0.122 mg ml^-1 to 62.5mg ml^-1. Diathus superbus L., Poria cocos (Shcw.) Woft, Polyporus umbellatus (Pers.) Fries, and Artemisia capillaries Thunb showed stronger inhibition than the other eight traditional Chinese medicines. The numbers and sizes of inclusions bodies reduced gradually and disappeared finally with the increase of the concentrations. Conclusion: All the 12 diuretic traditional Chinese medicines inhibited urogenital CT.
