Firstly, a n...In this paper, the issues of stochastic stability analysis and fault estimation are investigated for a class of continuoustime Markov jump piecewise-affine(PWA) systems against actuator and sensor faults. Firstly, a novel mode-dependent PWA iterative learning observer with current feedback is designed to estimate the system states and faults, simultaneously, which contains both the previous iteration information and the current feedback mechanism. The auxiliary feedback channel optimizes the response speed of the observer, therefore the estimation error would converge to zero rapidly. Then, sufficient conditions for stochastic stability with guaranteed performance are demonstrated for the estimation error system, and the equivalence relations between the system information and the estimated information can be established via iterative accumulating representation.Finally, two illustrative examples containing a class of tunnel diode circuit systems are presented to fully demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed iterative learning observer with current feedback.展开更多
This paper studies pricing and observational learning in a reward-based crowdfunding campaign context.The creator sets a funding target and uses different pricing strategies in order to make the project successful:men...This paper studies pricing and observational learning in a reward-based crowdfunding campaign context.The creator sets a funding target and uses different pricing strategies in order to make the project successful:menu price and other static or dynamic price strategies,such as low price,high price,and intertemporal price.In a sequential game,the creator needs to choose the optimal pricing strategy with or without information disclosure.With information disclosure,the follower can infer the quality of the product by observing the former’s decision.We found that this observational learning effect is a double-edged sword and is positively moderated by the target when different pricing strategies are adopted:on one hand,it will benefit the creator from an intertemporal pricing strategy or high price strategy if the target is very high;on the other hand,it has an adverse effect on the profit if menu price(high price)is adopted when the target is relatively(very)low.In some conditions,menu price(high price)without information disclosure will be optimal when the target is relatively(very)low.展开更多

Goal-setting enhances learning by providing a sense of direction and purpose to individuals. Contemporary social media plays an important role in expressing individual users' messages and sharing personal goals withi...Goal-setting enhances learning by providing a sense of direction and purpose to individuals. Contemporary social media plays an important role in expressing individual users' messages and sharing personal goals within a given community. The massiveness of the data available for users calls for a more systematic analysis of goals and meaning-making construction of these goals for educational and research purposes. This research proposes an approach to combine methods of mining, corpus linguistics and SFG (systemic functional grammar) for extracting goals in mined tweets, sorting the data linguistically and devising a model for analyzing the data based on the concepts of SFG and genre-based realization. The results of "meaning-making" analysis of goals show that: (1) mining is a successful tool for processing the large database into the pre-designated typology of goals; (2) the implementation of SFG as an analytical theory for semiotic and semogenic features of goals is a significant expansion of linguistic analysis of goals; (3) the Transitivity Model of SFG for identifying the Ideational Function of social meaning creation shows thc inclination of using "material", "mental" and "relational" processes as well as personal recounts of past learning experiences.展开更多

In rodent models, observational fear (OF) occurs when one animal perceives another fear related negative emotions, which may model certain behaviors caused by witnessing traumatic experiences in humans. Anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) has been showed to play a crucial role in OF. However, cellular and neural circuit basis relating to ACC governing OF is poorly understood. Here, we used Designer Receptor Exclusively Activated by a Designer Drug (DREADD) system to investigate the cell type specific circuit mechanism of ACC in OF. Firstly, inhibitory hM4D (Gi) designer receptor together with clozapine N-oxide (CNO) injection was applied to inactivate ACC neurons in the observer mice. We found that, chemogenetic inhibition of ACC resulted in a decreased freezing response in the observer mice. Next, combining PV-ires-Cre mice and Cre-dependent DREADD system, we selectively targeted the ACC parvalbumin (PV) interneurons with the excitatory hM3D (Gq) designer receptor. Activation of ACC PV interneurons following CNO injection reduced freezing response in the observer mice, while had no effect on freezing response in the demon- strator mice. Finally, monosynaptic rabies retrograde tracing revealed that ACC PV interneurons receive inputs from the mediodorsal thalamic nucleus (MD) and the ventromedial thalamic nucleus (VM), both known for their roles in OF. Taken together, these findings reveal that ACC activation is important for OF, during which PV interneurons in ACC play an important regulatory role. Abnormal function of ACC PV interneurons might contribute to the pathology of empathy- deficits related diseases, such as autism and schizoohrenia.展开更多
