This paper aims to explore how a veteran teacher organizes online teaching initiated by the pandemic and how she deals with the problems in online teacher-student verbal interaction.By analyzing a corpus of 20 audio-r...This paper aims to explore how a veteran teacher organizes online teaching initiated by the pandemic and how she deals with the problems in online teacher-student verbal interaction.By analyzing a corpus of 20 audio-recorded online lessons between a math teacher and her students during the COVID-19 pandemic from April 11 to May 10,2022,four interactional segments are selected as the focus of the study.The results of the conversation analysis of the segments showed that students’modesty,lack of confidence,lack of ability,and network delay are the main factors affecting online teacher-student interaction.By encouraging students to answer questions,enlightening students to give answers,enriching students’answers,and entertaining the teaching atmosphere(“4Es”strategies),the teacher solved the problems successfully.The findings from this study can provide pedagogical experience and implications for practical teaching.展开更多

In this research, students having online classes of a practical-based fabric design subject were encouraged to self-study from Open Educational Resource (OER) materials for a further and better understanding of their subject. Additionally, online materials were developed to improve students’ understanding via skill of digital literacy. Their learning progress was evaluated and compared to the face-to-face version. The majority of students found online classes combined with self-studying OER materials, potentially be a substitute for face-to-face classes. Most of the students further opined different OER videos assisted them without any face-to-face instructions in practical works, to develop new fabric samples from the inspiration. Analysis of test results, and comparison of students’ final grades with different learning modes, supported these phenomena.展开更多

Teaching and learning-related activities have embraced digital technology especially,with the current global pandemic restrictions pervaded during the last two years.On the other hand,most of the academic and professi...Teaching and learning-related activities have embraced digital technology especially,with the current global pandemic restrictions pervaded during the last two years.On the other hand,most of the academic and professional presentations are conducted using online platforms.But the presenter-audience interaction is hindered to a certain extent in an online case in contrary to face-to-face where real-time writing is beneficial when sketching is involved.The use of digital pens and pads is a solution for such instances,though the cost of acquiring such hardware is high.Economical solutions are essential as affordability is concerned.In this study,a real-time user-friendly,innovative drawing system is developed to address the issues related to the problems confronted with online presentations.This paper presents the development of an algorithm using Hand Landmark Detection,which replaces chalks,markers and regular ballpoint pens used in conventional communication and presentation,with online platforms.The proposed application in this study is acquired by Python and OpenCV libraries.The letters or the sketches drawn in the air were taken straight to the computer screen by this algorithm.The proposed algorithm continuously identifies the Hand Landmark using the images fed by the web camera,and text or drawing patterns are displayed on the screen according to the movements made by Hand Landmark on the image space.The developed user interface is also user-friendly.Hence the communication of letters and sketches were enabled.Although the concept has been developed and tested,with further research the versatility and accuracy of communication can be enhanced.展开更多

文摘Due to the impact of epidemic prevention and control,universities have organized online teaching and online learning and other online teaching activities.The purpose of online teaching is to ensure the progress and quality of teaching during epidemic prevention and control.Because of this particular situation,many college teachers are facing the unprecedented problem of online teaching.They offer online courses in a variety of ways to meet the needs of students.How to do well the effective online teaching management is very important,therefore,this article mainly aims at the pandemic situation background,carries on the research to the university online teaching management pattern.In the process of online teaching management,the author mainly found the following disadvantages,analyzed the reasons,and put forward the corresponding requirements for improvement.
文摘This study investigates the positive and negative effects of online teaching on EFL students’learning motivation.There are 26 English majors in a Chinese university participant in this study.Data were collected from multiple sources:semi-structured interview and direct observation.The result shows that in the course aspect,it has a positive effect.In the teacher aspect,it has both negative and positive effects.But in the learning group aspect,it has a negative effect,because of losing of students’interaction.

文摘With China’s comprehensive development of information technology,it is now widely used in the field of higher vocational education,and online teaching has emerged at a critical juncture.In the information age,there are challenges in meeting the actual needs of contemporary vocational students with traditional teaching methods,along with higher vocational training and school-enterprise cooperation and enrollment work taking place.Online teaching can stimulate students’interest in learning,break the limitation of time and space in conventional teaching,as well as improve the teaching efficiency.Therefore,taking higher vocational colleges in Chongqing as an example,this study explores the integration of online teaching into public physical education courses,in hope to provide some reference for higher vocational colleges.

文摘Teaching and learning-related activities have embraced digital technology especially,with the current global pandemic restrictions pervaded during the last two years.On the other hand,most of the academic and professional presentations are conducted using online platforms.But the presenter-audience interaction is hindered to a certain extent in an online case in contrary to face-to-face where real-time writing is beneficial when sketching is involved.The use of digital pens and pads is a solution for such instances,though the cost of acquiring such hardware is high.Economical solutions are essential as affordability is concerned.In this study,a real-time user-friendly,innovative drawing system is developed to address the issues related to the problems confronted with online presentations.This paper presents the development of an algorithm using Hand Landmark Detection,which replaces chalks,markers and regular ballpoint pens used in conventional communication and presentation,with online platforms.The proposed application in this study is acquired by Python and OpenCV libraries.The letters or the sketches drawn in the air were taken straight to the computer screen by this algorithm.The proposed algorithm continuously identifies the Hand Landmark using the images fed by the web camera,and text or drawing patterns are displayed on the screen according to the movements made by Hand Landmark on the image space.The developed user interface is also user-friendly.Hence the communication of letters and sketches were enabled.Although the concept has been developed and tested,with further research the versatility and accuracy of communication can be enhanced.
