The influence of solution treatment on the microstructure and properties of Mg2Si/AZ91D composites fabricated from Mg-SiO2 system via in-situ processing method was investigated. The results show that coarse Chinese script shape Mg2Si phases can be formed by adding SiO2 into AZ91D magnesium alloy with Si content up to 1.5% of the alloy melt.During solution treatment, the morphology and distribution of the coarse Chinese script shape Mg2Si phases are modified.Meanwhile, the β-Mg17Al12 phase is dissolved into the magnesium matrix. With increasing holding time, the coarse Mg2Si phases tend to dissolve, break and spheroidize. After solution treatment at 420 ℃ for 16 h,Mg2Si phases become the finest and relatively well-distributed phase. The tensile strength and elongation are increased by 14.9% and 38.9%,respectively.It is believed that the Mg2Si phases continuously dissolve and break, and finally the spheroidized Mg2Si particles are obtained due to the interface tension of Mg2Si/Mg interface. 展开更多

Nickel-rich layered oxides have drawn sustainable attentions for lithium ion batteries owing to their higher theoretical capacities and lower cost.However,nickel-rich layered oxides also have exposed several defects for commercial application, such as uncontrollable ordered layered structure, which leads to higher energy barrier for Li+diffusion. In addition, suffering from structural mutability, the bulk nickelrich cathode materials likely trigger overall volumetric variation and intergranular cracks, thus obstructing the lithium ion diffusion path and shortening the service life of the whole device.Herein,we report wellordered layered Li Ni0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 submicron spheroidal particles via an optimized co-precipitation and investigated as LIBs cathodes for high-performance lithium storage. The as-fabricated Li Ni0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 delivers high initial capacity of 228 mAh g–1,remarkable energy density of 866 Wh kg–1,rapid Li ion diffusion coefficient(10–9cm2s–1)and low voltage decay. The remarkable electrochemical performance should be ascribed to the well-ordered layered structure and uniform submicron spheroidal particles, which enhance the structural stability and ameliorate strain relaxation via reducing the parcel size and shortening Li-ion diffusion distance. This work anticipatorily provides an inspiration to better design particle morphology for structural stability and rate capability in electrochemistry energy storage devices. 展开更多

The drag of non-spherical particles is a basic, important parameter for multi-phase flow. As the first step in research in this area, the terminal velocities, Ut, of hemispherical and spherical segment particles with maximal diameters of 6-21 mm were measured in static fluids by using a high-speed video camera. The drag coefficient, CD, measured for Reynolds number, Re of 10^1-10^5, has been obtained and compared with those for a sphere. The Re based on the terminal velocity has a logarithmic linear relationship with Ar number for both the facet facing upwards or downwards for the two experimental spheroidal particles, and their Co values are greater than those of spheres. A shape function that depends on the initial orientation of the particle facet is presented to correct for the shape effects. 展开更多
