Purpose:Given the unique characteristics of physical education(PE) teaching in K-12education,PE teachers' information behaviors deserve special attention.This article reports a survey study of PE teachers' inf...Purpose:Given the unique characteristics of physical education(PE) teaching in K-12education,PE teachers' information behaviors deserve special attention.This article reports a survey study of PE teachers' information behaviors,covering information literacy skills and behaviors of information seeking and information use.Design/methodology/approach:A questionnaire survey was conducted of K-12 PE teachers in the Tianjin municipal region of China,with a response rate of 61.9%.Findings:PE teachers lack skills with information retrieval systems in general.The Internet continues to be their primary information source,and they rely more on personal collection and colleagues than the school library for teaching materials.They rarely develop a searching strategy,employ querying tactics,or use advanced search functions,and they tend to be content with finding a few relevant articles.Research limitations:The survey is limited to the Tianjin municipal region in scope.Though attempting to reach 210 participants from 40 schools,it yielded only 130 valid responses.A larger survey covering more regions and with greater responses may be useful.Practical implications:Insights from this study inform the educational and on-job training of K-12 PE teachers to improve their information literacy skills.Originality/value:Little research exists on PE teachers' behaviors of information seeking.This study bridges the gap and enriches our understanding of K-12 teachers' information behaviors.展开更多

Physical education teacher education(PETE)programs prepare teacher candidates to be competent and employed in P-12 school settings.This study examined the relationship between competency and first-year job obtainment ...Physical education teacher education(PETE)programs prepare teacher candidates to be competent and employed in P-12 school settings.This study examined the relationship between competency and first-year job obtainment in physical education(PE).Participants included 111 teacher candidates from two schools.Participants'competency in content knowledge in Kinesiology and sub-disciplines(CKKH),content knowledge in sport and skill proficiency(CKSP),pedagogical content knowledge(PCK),and first-year job obtainment in PE were collected.Descriptive statistics,independent-samples t tests,and multiple logistic regressions were used to analyze the data.The overall sample showed participants were most competent in PCK,followed by CKSP and CKKH.Female participants were more competent in PCK than their male counterparts,and those at School A performed better in CKSP and PCK than their peers at School B.As a sample,more than half of the participants(55.9%)obtained PE jobs.There was a significance between the overall sample and female participants'competency in CKKH and their first-year employment in PE.This study was limited by sample size,variances in courses between the two schools,and by the defined timeline to clarify first-year PE employment.Implications regarding the importance of CKKH and first-year employment were discussed.展开更多
BACKGROUND Physical education is pivotal in our country’s education reform.Urban schools have notably enhanced the intensity of physical education in recent years.However,the effects of physical education on students...BACKGROUND Physical education is pivotal in our country’s education reform.Urban schools have notably enhanced the intensity of physical education in recent years.However,the effects of physical education on students'anxiety,depression,and self-esteem levels,as well as their interrelations,remain unexplored.Compared with the domestic norms,SAS and SDS scores were higher,and SES scores were lower(P<0.05).Among the participants,210(43.93%)had PARS-3 scores below 20,94(19.67%)had scores of 20-42,and 174(36.40%)had scores above 42.After adjusting for daily sleep time,gender,being an only child,major,father’s educational background,mother’s educational background,and family residence,PARS-3 scores were independent influencing factors for anxiety,depression,and low self-esteem(P<0.05).The AUC of PARS-3 scores predicting anxiety,depression,and low self-esteem were 0.805(0.760-0.849),0.799(0.755-0.843),and 0.831(0.788-0.874),respectively.The sensitivities were 0.799,0.801,and 0.748,and the specificities were 0.743,0.716,and 0.814,respectively.PARS-3 was negatively correlated with SAS and SDS scores(r=-0.566,-0.621,both P<0.001)and positively correlated with SES scores(r=-0.621,P<0.001).SES scores were negatively correlated with SAS and SDS scores(r=-0.508,r=-0.518,both P<0.001).CONCLUSION The amount of physical activity is negatively correlated with anxiety and depression degree and positively correlated with self-esteem degree.展开更多
Objective:To determine the effect of physical activity by using the teach-back educational method on hemodialysis patients’quality of life(QOL)and physical ability.Methods:This is a single-blind clinical trial study ...Objective:To determine the effect of physical activity by using the teach-back educational method on hemodialysis patients’quality of life(QOL)and physical ability.Methods:This is a single-blind clinical trial study involving a control group.A total of 90 patients who admitted to the dialysis centers of Beheshti and Besat hospitals in Hamadan were selected using a convenience sampling method and were randomly assigned to intervention(n=45)and control(n=45)groups.Data were collected using a demographic information checklist,a kidney disease QOL questionnaire,and a 6-minute-walk distance(6MWD)checklist.The patients’QOL questionnaire was completed,and the 6MWD was recorded before and at the end of the 2nd,4th,6th,8th,and 12th weeks of the intervention.In the intervention group,the patients were taught to perform physical activities with Pilates stretches in different resistances using the teach-back educational method during dialysis sessions for 12 weeks.Data were analyzed by using the independent t-test and chi-square test using SPSS-22 software.Results:Before the intervention,no differences were observed between the experimental and control groups in terms of demographic characteristics,QOL,and physical ability(P>0.05).The physical ability and QOL levels of patients exercising in the test group were higher than those in the control group after the intervention(P<0.05).Based on the results,the 2 groups significantly differed with regard to the scores of various dimensions of QOL and physical ability after the intervention(P<0.05).Conclusions:Physical activity by using the teach-back method can effectively increase physical ability and improve QOL of hemodialysis patients.Therefore,the recommendations and inclusion of exercise in the dialysis care plan can effectively promote patients’health.展开更多

文摘Physical education teacher education(PETE)programs prepare teacher candidates to be competent and employed in P-12 school settings.This study examined the relationship between competency and first-year job obtainment in physical education(PE).Participants included 111 teacher candidates from two schools.Participants'competency in content knowledge in Kinesiology and sub-disciplines(CKKH),content knowledge in sport and skill proficiency(CKSP),pedagogical content knowledge(PCK),and first-year job obtainment in PE were collected.Descriptive statistics,independent-samples t tests,and multiple logistic regressions were used to analyze the data.The overall sample showed participants were most competent in PCK,followed by CKSP and CKKH.Female participants were more competent in PCK than their male counterparts,and those at School A performed better in CKSP and PCK than their peers at School B.As a sample,more than half of the participants(55.9%)obtained PE jobs.There was a significance between the overall sample and female participants'competency in CKKH and their first-year employment in PE.This study was limited by sample size,variances in courses between the two schools,and by the defined timeline to clarify first-year PE employment.Implications regarding the importance of CKKH and first-year employment were discussed.

文摘BACKGROUND Physical education is pivotal in our country’s education reform.Urban schools have notably enhanced the intensity of physical education in recent years.However,the effects of physical education on students'anxiety,depression,and self-esteem levels,as well as their interrelations,remain unexplored.Compared with the domestic norms,SAS and SDS scores were higher,and SES scores were lower(P<0.05).Among the participants,210(43.93%)had PARS-3 scores below 20,94(19.67%)had scores of 20-42,and 174(36.40%)had scores above 42.After adjusting for daily sleep time,gender,being an only child,major,father’s educational background,mother’s educational background,and family residence,PARS-3 scores were independent influencing factors for anxiety,depression,and low self-esteem(P<0.05).The AUC of PARS-3 scores predicting anxiety,depression,and low self-esteem were 0.805(0.760-0.849),0.799(0.755-0.843),and 0.831(0.788-0.874),respectively.The sensitivities were 0.799,0.801,and 0.748,and the specificities were 0.743,0.716,and 0.814,respectively.PARS-3 was negatively correlated with SAS and SDS scores(r=-0.566,-0.621,both P<0.001)and positively correlated with SES scores(r=-0.621,P<0.001).SES scores were negatively correlated with SAS and SDS scores(r=-0.508,r=-0.518,both P<0.001).CONCLUSION The amount of physical activity is negatively correlated with anxiety and depression degree and positively correlated with self-esteem degree.

文摘Objective:To determine the effect of physical activity by using the teach-back educational method on hemodialysis patients’quality of life(QOL)and physical ability.Methods:This is a single-blind clinical trial study involving a control group.A total of 90 patients who admitted to the dialysis centers of Beheshti and Besat hospitals in Hamadan were selected using a convenience sampling method and were randomly assigned to intervention(n=45)and control(n=45)groups.Data were collected using a demographic information checklist,a kidney disease QOL questionnaire,and a 6-minute-walk distance(6MWD)checklist.The patients’QOL questionnaire was completed,and the 6MWD was recorded before and at the end of the 2nd,4th,6th,8th,and 12th weeks of the intervention.In the intervention group,the patients were taught to perform physical activities with Pilates stretches in different resistances using the teach-back educational method during dialysis sessions for 12 weeks.Data were analyzed by using the independent t-test and chi-square test using SPSS-22 software.Results:Before the intervention,no differences were observed between the experimental and control groups in terms of demographic characteristics,QOL,and physical ability(P>0.05).The physical ability and QOL levels of patients exercising in the test group were higher than those in the control group after the intervention(P<0.05).Based on the results,the 2 groups significantly differed with regard to the scores of various dimensions of QOL and physical ability after the intervention(P<0.05).Conclusions:Physical activity by using the teach-back method can effectively increase physical ability and improve QOL of hemodialysis patients.Therefore,the recommendations and inclusion of exercise in the dialysis care plan can effectively promote patients’health.

文摘Elderly individuals are adults who are often treated like children and,even worse,as numbers.Physical and mental degeneration is to some extent an inevitable occurrence.The problem that is not yet solved by biology and medicine lies in the acceleration of decay and the severity of certain pathologies.There is a relationship between the health of the elderly and their previous lifestyles,current social conditions,network of emotional relationships,and their personality structure.The organization and culture of society,still shaped by the principles of modernity,are the second major obstacle to the well-being of the elderly.On the one hand,the elderly face difficulties due to the organization of cities,transportation,housing structures,services,and families.On the other hand,the elderly’s condition is hindered by mental images,prejudices,ethical principles,cultural stereotypes,or by a social organization and culture modelled on the healthy,productive,reproductive adult male inserted into a family unit.The aim of this essay is reviewing the literature on AHA(active and healthy ageing),analyse the theoretical models and definitions,explore related normative terms and concepts,and create a comprehensive thematic overview of what constitutes AHA’s dimensions,attributes,antecedents,and consequences.
文摘This paper explores Mao Zedong’s early views on physical education and practice,focusing on the“Six-Section Exercise”he created.The exercise,which integrates elements from traditional health-preserving techniques,gymnastics,boxing,and military training,was designed to promote balanced physical development,be practical and effective,and require less time per session.The paper argues that Mao Zedong’s views on physical education were grounded in the belief that it could effectively transform individuals and contribute to the creation of a strong sports nation.The paper also discusses the historical context and social trends behind the creation of the“Six-Section Exercise”,including the New Culture Movement and debates between Chinese and Western,static and dynamic,and new and old approaches to physical education.The paper concludes by suggesting that Mao Zedong’s early sports thinking has significant academic value and can provide guidance for the construction of a healthy China today.

文摘The“New Medical Education”is a new requirement for the development of medical education in the new era.As a key and core element of the construction of the“New Medical Education,”the engagement in teaching work of university teachers is a key issue that determines the level of teaching development of university teachers and affects the quality of talent cultivation in universities.Using the literature review method,this study analyzed 39 relevant literatures retrieved from China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)from 1997 to 2023.The concept,connotation,current situation,influencing factors,and improvement strategies of teaching engagement by university teachers were reviewed and summarized.The results showed that the issue of teaching engagement by university teachers has not received high attention in the field of higher education,especially in higher medical education,which has not yet been reported.Although the overall number of literature is not large,some of the conclusions have important implications for the next research on the influencing factors and mechanisms of double-qualified teacher engagement in higher medical colleges.

文摘In recent years,with the rapid advancement of digital technologies,digitization in vocational education has become a major trend.Among these advancements,digital textbooks have emerged at the forefront of digitization,significantly impacting both their form and content.This article aims to analyze the existing issues in the use of digital textbooks in vocational education and emphasize the importance of recognizing the vital role of teachers in the wave of digital textbook innovation.It is crucial to clarify the role and positioning of teachers to avoid inadvertently diminishing their classroom significance while prioritizing technological innovations.Teachers should fully leverage the role of digital textbooks as tools for organizing classroom activities and recognize the core and essence of classroom teaching as digital technologies enter the scope of vocational education.By doing so,teachers can contribute to the high-quality development of modern vocational education.
