This antenna is proposed for indoor applications and enables adaptive beamforming and angle of arrival (AOA) estimation. An adaptive beamforming algorithm is applied for a planar antenna array, which is able to steer its main beam and nulls in azimuth and elevation planes over a wide frequency band. Planar antenna array operates as a spatial filter in 3D space, processing the received signals with weighting schemes. A planar antenna array is designed for AOA estimation in azimuth and elevation planes by using MUltiple SIgnal Classification (MUSIC) based on subspace algorithm. The Base Station (BS) equipped with this planar antenna is preferred to be at the center position on the room ceiling to cover all sectors of the room. It is designed to use four directional triangular elements arranged to form a square planar antenna array. Planar antenna with four elliptical slotted triangular elements (PAFESTE) is used to obtain optimal directivity in four directions in azimuth plane with specific orientation of 30? in elevation plane. It is characterized by half power beamwidth in elevation plane of about 60? and half power beamwidth in azimuth plane of about 90?.展开更多

U-shaped coupling slots are embedded in the ground plane to extend the bandwidth. The phase relation between adjacent elements in the radiation field is analyzed when adjacent elements are fed in opposite phase. Return loss and radiation pattern are measured for a 16-element antenna array at 12.5 GHz. The radiation pattern shows a good agreement with the calculated one in the shape of the main beam. The return-loss of the proposed antenna array is less than –20 dB in the 12.5 GHz frequency band (12.25-12.75 GHz). Because of two feed ports the antenna can transmit arbitrary elliptic polarized waves if the two feed ports have different amplitude and phase. The main factors such as element spacing, substrate medium and manufacturing imperfection are analyzed and the corresponding conclusions are presented.展开更多

In this paper, a reflective symmetrical element, consisting of orthogonally I-shaped structures, has been demonstrated with an approximately parallel phase response from 15 GHz to 22 GHz, which results in an interesting wideband property. For practical design, a planar antenna is implemented by a well-optimized focusing metasurface and excited by a self-designed Vivaldi antenna at the focus. Numerical and experimental results coincide well. The planar antenna has a series of merits such as a wide 3-d B gain bandwidth of 15–22 GHz, an average gain enhancement of 16 d B, a comparable aperture efficiency of better than 45% at 18 GHz, and also a simple fabrication process. The proposed reflective metasurface opens up a new avenue to design wideband microwave devices.展开更多

Two efficient approaches for evaluating the regularly spaced spherical samples from the nonuniformly distributed ones are proposed and numerically compared. Both the approaches rely on a nonredundant sampling representation of the voltage measured by the probe, based on an oblate ellipsoidal modelling of the antenna under test. The former employs the singular value decomposition method to reconstruct the NF data at the points fixed by the nonredundant sampling representation and can be applied when the irregularly acquired samples lie on nonuniform parallels. The latter is based on an iterative technique and can be used also when such a hypothesis does not hold, but requires the existence of a biunique correspondence between the uniform and nonuniform samples, associ- ating at each uniform sampling point the nearest irregular one. Once the regularly spaced spherical samples have been recovered, the NF data needed by a probe compensated NF - FF transformation with spherical scanning are efficiently evaluated by using an optimal sampling interpolation algorithm. It is so possible to accurately compensate known posi- tioning errors in the NF - FF transformation with spherical scanning for quasi-planar antennas. Some numerical tests assessing the accuracy and the robustness of the proposed approaches are reported.展开更多

Capacity in the 800 and 900 MHz bands, where bandwidth is restricted, is already becoming a limiting factor. This paper attempts to address how the application of smart antenna systems has brought about improvements in call quality and increased capacity through reduced Interference in Mobile Communication. The smart antenna may be in a variety of ways to improve the performance of a communications system. Perhaps most importantly is its capability to cancel co-channel interference. It helps in improving the system performance by increasing the channel capacity, spectrum efficiency, extending range coverage, speech quality, enabling tighter reuse of frequencies within a cellular network and economically, feasible increased signal gain, greater, reduced multipath reflection. It has been argued that Smart antennas and the Algorithms to control them are vital to a high-capacity communication system development.展开更多

Due to its relatively large gain, the use of parabolic antennas has become very popular over time, because they can easily achieve gains of above 30 dB at microwave and higher frequencies. Today, most systems’ success depends on how well the antennas perform. These antennas are available in different types and sizes. Each antenna’s effective area usually has less than the actual physical area of the antenna surface. This means that the unused area of the antenna is massive, and a waste. The aim of the research is to show that the actual physical aperture of a parabolic antenna can be reduced as much as possible to equal the effective area, as given by the antenna formula, thereby saving manufacturing costs, improve the aesthetics. In other words, the focus of this work is to experimentally show that reflector antenna can be made of smaller sizes but better performance. Measurements were taken from different positions from a parabolic antenna, the signal level measured and compared with signal levels for optimal performance.展开更多

文摘Systemically angular and planar transport investigations are performed in layered antiferromagnetic(AF)V_(5)S_(8).In this AF system, obvious anomalous Hall effect(AHE)is observed with a large Hall angle of 0.1 compared to that in ferromagnetic(FM)system. It can persist to the temperatures above AF transition and exhibit strong angular field dependence. The phase diagram reveals various magnetic states by rotating the applied field.By analyzing the anisotropic transport behavior, magnon contributions are revealed and exhibit obvious angular dependence with a spin-flop vanishing line. The observed prominent planar Hall effect and anisotropic magnetoresisitivity exhibit two-fold systematical angular dependent oscillations. These behaviors are attributed to the scattering from spin–orbital coupling instead of nontrivial topological origin. Our results reveal anisotropic interactions of magnetism and electron in V5S8,suggesting potential opportunities for the AF spintronic sensor and devices.
文摘As wireless data applications over cellular networks become more widespread, the pressure to increase capacity will become even more intense. It has been argued that Smart antennas and the Algorithms to control them are vital to a high-capacity communication system development.
文摘In this paper,an antenna array composed of circular array and orthogonal linear array is proposed by using the design of long and short baseline“orthogonal linear array”and the circular array ambiguity resolution design of multi-group baseline clustering. The effectiveness of the antenna array in this paper is verified by sufficient simulation and experiment. After the system deviation correction work,it is found that in the L/S/C/X frequency bands, the ambiguity resolution probability is high, and the phase difference system error between each channel is basically the same. The angle measurement error is less than 0.5°,and the positioning error is less than 2.5 km.Notably,as the center frequency increases, calibration consistency improves, and the calibration frequency points become applicable over a wider frequency range. At a center frequency of 11.5 GHz,the calibration frequency point bandwidth extends to 1200 MHz.This combined antenna array deployment holds significant promise for a wide range of applications in contemporary wireless communication systems.
文摘Due to the importance of vibration effects on the functional accuracy of mechanical systems, this research aims to develop a precise model of a nonlinearly vibrating single-link mobile flexible manipulator. The manipulator consists of an elastic arm,a rotary motor, and a rigid carrier, and undergoes general in-plane rigid body motion along with elastic transverse deformation. To accurately model the elastic behavior,Timoshenko’s beam theory is used to describe the flexible arm, which accounts for rotary inertia and shear deformation effects.By applying Newton’s second law,the nonlinear governing equations of motion for the manipulator are derived as a coupled system of ordinary differential equations(ODEs)and partial differential equations(PDEs).Then, the assumed mode method(AMM)is used to solve this nonlinear system of governing equations with appropriate shape functions. The assumed modes can be obtained after solving the characteristic equation of a Timoshenko beam with clamped boundary conditions at one end and an attached mass/inertia at the other. In addition, the effect of the transverse vibration of the inextensible arm on its axial behavior is investigated.Despite the axial rigidity, the effect makes the rigid body dynamics invalid for the axial behavior of the arm. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance of the developed model, and the results are compared with those obtained by the finite element approach. The comparison confirms the validity of the proposed dynamic model for the system.According to the mentioned features, this model can be reliable for investigating the system’s vibrational behavior and implementing vibration control algorithms.
文摘In fields like astronomy and radar technology, high-gain antennas are required for long-distance communication. Measurements were taken from different positions from a parabolic antenna, the signal level measured and compared with signal levels for optimal performance.
