Clinical Study on Treatment of Chronic Prostatitis with Lingze Tablets Combined with TCM Herbal Acupoint Plasters

Objective:To study the therapeutic effect of Lingze tablets combined with traditional Chinese medicine herbal acupoint plasters on chronic prostatitis.Methods:A total of 64 patients with chronic prostatitis who were admitted to the Andrology Clinic of Shuyang County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2021 to March 2023 were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group,with 32 cases in each group.The control group took Lingze tablets orally,4 tablets/time,3 times/d;the treatment group took the same medication along with traditional Chinese medicine acupoint herbal plasters.The two groups of patients were treated continuously for 6 weeks,and the differences in the relevant indexes of the curative effect were observed.Results:The NIH-Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index(NIH-CPSI)scores of the two groups significantly reduced after treatment(P<0.05),and the scores of the patients in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The treatment received in the treatment group achieved and efficacy of 96.88%,which was significantly higher than that of the group,which was 81.25%(P<0.05).The maximum flow rate(MFR),average flow rate AFR,and urine output of the patients of both groups improved significantly after treatment(P<0.05).However,the experimental group showed better improvements in these indicators(P<0.05).Conclusion:Lingze tablets combined with traditional Chinese medicine acupoint herbal plasters can significantly improve the symptoms and urodynamic function of patients with chronic prostatitis. 展开更多

Murals in Mogao Grottoes consist of three parts:support layer,earthen plasters and paint layer.The earthen plasters play a key role in the preservation of murals.It is a mixture of Dengban soil,sand,and plant fiber.Two different natural fibers,hemp fiber and cotton fiber,were reinforced to earthen plasters in the same percentage to evaluate the influence on hygrothermal performance.The two types of earthen plasters were studied:one containing hemp fiber in the fine plaster(HFP)and the other containing cotton fiber in the fine plaster(CFP).Specific heat capacity,dry thermal conductivity,water vapor permeability,and sorption isotherms were investigated.The results showed that the difference between two natural fibers has much more impact on the hygric properties(water vapor permeability and sorption isotherms)of earthen plasters than on their thermal performance(specific heat capacity and dry thermal conductivity).The CFP with higher density has higher thermal conductivity than the HFP with lower density.But no significant differences of specific heat capacity were observed.Compared with HFP,CFP used in murals can reduce the rate of water transfer and prevent salt from transferring water to the mural surface.The overall findings highlight that all these features of CFP are beneficial to the long-term preservation of murals.The study of the earthen plasters in Mogao Grottoes is of general significance,and the measured properties can be used to obtain coupled heat and moisture analysis of the earthen plasters and to dissect the degradation mechanism of murals. 展开更多

Despite its low resistance to humidity, adobe remains the most widely used material for housing construction, particularly in developing countries. The present study aims to assess different modes of use of fermented RH and to evaluate their influence on the behavior of raw earth for application in plaster. The influences of two types of RH are evaluated: granular rice husk (RHg) and powdered RH (RHp). The clay mainly consists of clay (40%), silt (22%), and sand (38.4%), with a small proportion of gravel (0.24%). Its liquidity limit is 40% and the plasticity index is 26.5%. The mixtures were designed using earth and each of the two rice husks at the volumetric content of 10%, 15% and 20% of the total volume mixed with water 36.5%, 38.5% and 40.3% and fermented for three weeks. Each fermented mixture was added to the soil to form the paste, and 40 × 40 × 160 mm<sup>3</sup> test speciments were made for characterization. The results generally show an improvement in the physico-mechanical properties and water resistance of the mortars containing fermented RH, with an optimal content between 10% and 15%. The powdered RH improved the performance of the mortar better than granular RH. 展开更多

The present study focuses on the formulation of new composite consisting of plaster and raffia vinifera particle (RVP) with the purpose to reducing energy consumption. The aim of this study is to test this new compound as an insulating eco-material in building in a tropical climate. The composites samples were developed by mixing plaster with raffia vinifera particles (RVP) using three different sizes (1.6 mm, 2.5 mm and 4 mm). The effects of four different RVP incorporations rates (i.e., 0wt%, 5wt%;10wt%;15wt%) on physical, thermal, mechanicals properties of the composites were investigated. In addition, the use of the raffia vinifera particles and plaster based composite material as building envelopes thermal insulation material is studied by the habitable cell thermal behavior instrumentation. The results indicate that the incorporation of raffia vinifera particle leads to improve the new composite physical, mechanical and thermal properties. And the parametric analysis reveals that the sampling rate and the size of raffia vinifera particles are the most decisive factor to impact these properties, and to decreases in the thermal conductivity which leads to an improvement to the thermal resistance and energy savings. The best improvement of plaster composite was obtained at the raffia vinifera particles size between 2.5 and 4.0 mm loading of 5wt% (C95P5R) with a good ratio of thermo-physical-mechanical properties. Additionally, the habitable cell experimental thermal behavior, with the new raffia vinifera particles and plaster-based composite as thermal insulating material for building walls, gives an average damping of 4°C and 5.8°C in the insulated house interior environment respectively for cold and hot cases compared to the outside environment and the uninsulated house interior environment. The current study highlights that this mixture gives the new composite thermal insulation properties applicable in the eco-construction of habitats in tropical environments. 展开更多

Objective:To compare the efficacy of open reduction and volar locking plate internal fixation with closed reduction and external fixation in the treatment of distal radius fractures by using meta analysis.Methods:The databases of CNKI,Wanfang,Weipu,Chinese biomedical literature,Pubmed,Embase,and Cochrane Library were retrieved,and the randomized controlled studies that directly compared the efficacy of plate internal fixation and closed reduction external fixation in the treatment of distal radius fractures published publicly from the establishment of the database to April 2023 were collected.The two researchers independently screened the retrieved literature according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,extracted data,used Cochrane risk bias assessment tool for quality assessment,and used RevMan 5.4 software for meta analysis.Results:A total of 10 randomized controlled trials were included,all of which were in English.There were 1042 patients in total,and 9 of them were rated as low risk.Meta analysis results showed that one year after the treatment of distal radius fracture with volar locking plate internal fixation,DASH score[MD=-5.64,95%CI(-7.21,-4.06),P<0.00001];One year later,PRWE score[MD=-5.90,95%CI(-8.88,-2.92),P=0.001];Palm flexion[MD=5.92,95%CI(1.29,10.55),P=0.01];Pronation[MD=2.48,95%CI(0.59,4.36),P=0.01];Postrotation[MD=4.73,95%CI(2.15,7.31),P=0.0003];Grip strength[MD=0.61,95%CI(0.12,1.10),P=0.02];palmar tilt angle[MD=9.84,95%CI(5.66,14.02),P<0.00001];Radial inclination[MD=4.33,95%CI(2.97,5.69),P<0.00001]was superior to closed reduction plaster or splint external fixation.One year later,the European Five dimensional Health Scale(EQ-5D-5L)score[MD=0.02,95%CI(-0.01,0.05),P=0.27];Back extension[MD=2.22,95%CI(-4.15,8.59),P=0.49];Ulnar deviation[MD=3.49,95%CI(-0.80,7.78),P=0.11];Radial deviation[MD=2.05,95%CI(-2.39,6.50),P=0.37];Ulnar variance[MD=-1.14,95%CI(-3.16,0.88),P=0.27];There was no significant difference in complications[MD=0.77,95%CI(0.54,1.10),P=0.16](P>0.05).Conclusion:Based on the current clinical data,internal fixation with volar locking plate is more conducive to mid-term DASH score and grip strength recovery than closed reduction plaster or splint external fixation,but there is no significant difference in the quality of life and complications of patients.For adult distal radius fractures,surgical indications should be carefully grasped,and non operative treatment should be given priority. 展开更多

Objective:To assess the clinical effect of Shenghua Zhuyu ointment,which was applied onto the Zhongji,Qihai,and Guanyuan acupoints,on postpartum lochia.Methods:We randomly divided 166 patients who were admitted in 2018-2021 into an observation group and a control group.The control group was treated with conventional clinical methods,whereas the observation group was treated by applying Shenghua Zhuyu ointment on the Zhongji,Qihai,and Guanyuan acupoints.The amount and duration of lochia,abdominal pain,hospitalization time were observed;B-scan ultrasonography was performed to check whether the placenta was discharged.Results:The treatment received by the observation group of patients was shown to be more effective than that of the control group.Besides,the experimental group had less lochia than that of the control group.The observation group also had shorter duration of lochia and hospital stay than those of the control group(P<0.05).The placenta excretion was better,and the degree of abdominal pain was lower in the observation group than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The acupoint application of Shenghua Zhuyu herbal acupoint plaster has a significant impact on retained placenta,in which it can aid the discharge of residual placenta and improve the patients’physical functions and symptoms. 展开更多

Sound specimen has been achieved with preparing foam aluminum by using investment casting process. The preparation of plaster prefabricated mould is one key in investment casting. Main composition, ingredient and affecting factors of plaster mould are also discussed and the vacuum-infiltrated shaping technique was found to be another important link. In order to improve the performance of plaster molds for investment casting,a diverse content of glass fiber and polypropylene(PP)fiber was incorporated into the slurry for the preparation of a fiber-reinforced mold.The green and fired bending strengths,thermal expansion properties,permeability,and thermal shock resistance of the mold were examined,and the scanning electron microscope(SEM)with energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS)was applied for the observation of fracture morphology.With appropriate content,the introduction of glass fiber was proved to increase the green bending strength and fired bending strength,restrain the thermal expansion and improve the thermal shock resistance of the mold,while the polypropylene fiber added was able to raise the green bending strength and the permeability,reduce the thermal expansion and heighten the thermal shock resistance as well,though the fired bending strength would be weakened slightly.Evenly distributed fibers were capable of enhancing the mechanical properties of the matrix,but agglomerations and bundles of fibers resulting from excessive addition had a negative impact.Meanwhile,it was also manifested that micropores left by ablative polypropylene fibers could improve the permeability and reduce the thermal expansion of the mold,and the fired bending strength would be decreased slightly by the deterioration of continuous structure.Three different ratios of hybrid fiber were employed in plaster molds,which can meet altered requirement of castings.The samples modified with hybrid fiber possessed lower thermal deformation,higher air permeability,and better resistance of thermal shock,while the mechanical strength was equal to the fiber free sample or slightly increased. 展开更多

The changes of grindability, grading and wettability of recycled plaster(R-P)and the mechanisms of these changes were studied by using vickers hardness, particle size distribution(PSD), scanning electron microscope(SEM) and nitrogen adsorption porosimetry to reveal that R-P was obviously different from plaster of Paris(POP). At the same milling time, R-P had the characteristics of high specific surface area, fine particle diameter and uneven size distribution compared with POP, so R-P possessed both good grindability and poor grading. The water absorption, dissolution rate and mass loss in dry-wet cycle of the hardened recycled gypsum(hardened RG) increased, while the water saturated strength and dry-wet cycle strength decreased significantly compared with the hardened virgin gypsum(hardened VG). Therefore, poor wettability could be seen in R-P. The analyses indicated that the changes of grindability and grading could be attributed to the reduction in hardness and the increase in the porosity of hardened RG and that the poor wettability of R-P was caused by the increase of large pores and the changes of microstructure of hardened RG. 展开更多

Lower limb intracast pressures generated by different types of immobilisation casts

AIM To determine if complete, split casts and backslabs [plaster of Paris(POP) and fiberglass] generate different intracast pressures and pain. METHODS Increased swelling within casts was modeled by a closed water system attached to an expandable bag placed directly under different types of casts applied to a healthy lower limb. Complete fiberglass and POP casts, split casts and backslabs were applied. Twenty-five milliliter aliquots of saline were injected into the system and the generated intracast pressures were measured using a sphygmomanometer. The subject was blinded to the pressure scores to avoid bias. All casts were applied to the same right limb on the same subject to avoid the effects of variations in anatomy or physiology on intracast pressures. Pain levels were evaluated using the Visual Analogue Score after each sequential saline injection. Each type of cast was reapplied four times and the measurements were repeated on four separate occasions. Sample sizes were determined by a pre-study 90% power calculation to detect a 20% difference in intracast pressures between cast groups. RESULTS A significant difference between the various types of casts was noted when the saline volume was greater than 100 mL(P = 0.009). The greatest intracast pressure was generated by complete fiberglass casts, which were significantly higher than complete POP casts or backslabs(P = 0.018 and P = 0.008 respectively) at intracast saline volumes of 100 mL and higher. Backslabs produced a significantly lower intracast pressure compared to complete POP only once the saline volume within casts exceeded 225 mL(P = 0.009). Intracast pressures were significantly lower in split casts(P = 0.003). Split POP and fiberglass casts produced the lowest intracast pressures, even compared to backslabs(P = 0.009). Complete fiberglass casts generated the highest pain levels at manometer pressures of 75 mm Hg and greater(P = 0.001). Split fiberglass casts had significantly reduced pain levels(P = 0.001). In contrast, a split complete POP cast did not produce significantly reduced pain levels at pressures between 25-150 mmH g. There was no difference in pain generated by complete POP and backslabs at manometer pressures of 200 mm Hg and lower. CONCLUSION Fibreglass casts generate significantly higher intracast pressures and pain than POP casts. Split casts cause lower intracast pressures regardless of material, than complete casts and backslabs. 展开更多

Objective:To explore the clinical effect of embedding thread combined with Jianpi Qushi Huayu ointment in the treatment of bronchiectasis in remission period,and to observe the effect on the level of inflammatory cytokines.Methods:150 patients with bronchiectasis in remission period were divided into three groups(50 cases in each group),western medicine group(treated with salmeterol fluticasone and low dose erythromycin),combined group(treated with Jianpi Qushi Huayu plaster),observation group(treated with western medicine+Jianpi Qushi Huayu plaster+embedding thread),and the clinical treatment of the three groups were compared.Result:before and after treatment,the improvement of TCM syndrome score,the improvement of pulmonary ventilation index,the improvement of inflammatory cytokines,and the change of adverse reactions.Results:the treatment efficiency of the observation group and the combination group was significantly higher than that of the western medicine group P The peak level of expiratory flow velocity,the maximum expiratory flow,the forced expiratory volume in one second and the ratio of forced expiratory volume in one second to vital capacity in the observation group and the combined group were significantly better than those in the western medicine group and the pre-treatment level(P<0.05),and the improvement in the observation group was better than that in the combined group After treatment,the expression of IL-13,IL-10 and IL-4 in the combined group was significantly better than that in the western medicine group and before treatment(P<0.05),and the improvement in the observation group was better than that in the combined group;there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions among the three groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:catgut embedding combined with Jianpi Qushi Huayu ointment can significantly alleviate the related clinical symptoms and signs,effectively control the further aggravation of the disease,improve the lung function of patients,regulate the level of inflammatory cytokines to reduce the degree of inflammatory reaction,and do not significantly aggravate the adverse reactions of drugs. 展开更多

Effect of auricular plaster for primary hypertension in older people:A meta-analysis

BACKGROUND Hypertension is a critical public health problem globally.Antihypertensive drugs can create an extra burden on hypertension patients'self-regulation leading to an imbalance of blood supply and demand.This study aimed to evaluate the effect of auricular plaster therapy combined with western medicine to treat primary hypertension in older people.AIM To carry out a systematic review and meta-analysis for the effect of auricular plaster in elderly hypertension patients.METHODS Multiple databases like PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane Library,Chinese Biomedical Literature on Disc,China National Knowledge Infrastructure,Wan Fang and Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database were used to search for the relevant studies and full-text articles involved in the evaluation of auricular plaster combined with western medicine and western medicine alone for primary hypertension in older people.All included articles were quality assessed and the data analysis was conducted with the Review Manager(5.4).Forest plots,sensitivity analysis and funnel plots were also performed on the included articles.RESULTS In this analysis,fourteen(14)relevant studies were included.The Meta-analysis showed a significant difference in the effective ratio(OR=3.62;95%CI,2.46 to 5.33;P<0.00001),diastolic blood pressure change(5.68 mmHg;95%CI,3.49 to 7.87;P<0.00001),systolic blood pressure change(MD=8.78 mmHg;95%CI,5.04 to 12.53;P<0.00001)and symptom score(MD=3.20;95%CI,1.23 to 5.18;P=0.001)between auricular plaster combined with western medicine group and western medicine alone group.One bias was detected as selection bias and another two in reporting bias.Sensitivity analysis fulfilled the stability of the results.CONCLUSION Our study suggested that auricular plaster combined with western medicine improved primary hypertension better than western medicine alone.Limited by the quality of included studies,further studies should be performed to confirm our findings. 展开更多

It can be treated conservatively, usually involving wrist immobilization in plaster cast or surgically. A key method of surgical fixation is external fixation by distractor. Distractor can be applied either only on the radial side or on both ulnar and radial sides. Materials and Methods: A prospective randomized and comparative study of 1 year duration was conducted on 32 patients admitted in the Department of Orthopaedics of BSMC & H in the age group of 20 to 75 years old with AO types B and C distal radius fracture along with involvement of the ulnar styloid process. The parameters studied were restoration of radial length, restoration of radial angle, intracarpal step-off and palmar tilt which were statistically evaluated and Fisher’s exact test was performed. The two tailed P-value was calculated and both the groups were statistically compared. Results: In our study, 37.5% patients in Group A and 81.25% in Group B had a radial difference Table 1, Chart 1). 43.75% patients in Group A and 87.5% in Group B had radial angle Table 2, Chart 2). 31.25% in Group A and 75% had intra carpal step off Table 3, Chart 3). 62.5% had an abnormal palmar tilt in Group A while only 6.25% had an abnormal palmar tilt in Group B which is extremely statistically significant. On an average, 2 mm of distraction was required in 75% patients of Group A while only 30% patients in Group B required distraction (Table 4, Chart 4). Conclusion: In our study, the radial difference, radial angle, intra carpal step off and palmar tilt returned significantly to normal in the patients treated with distractor on radial side only when compared with distractor application on both radial and ulnar sides for distal radius fracture with ulnar styloid process involvement. Also post-operative distraction required under image intensifier was higher in the group treated with distractor on either side than those with distractor only on radial side. 展开更多

Since antiquity, man used to stock up materials and products existing in his close surroundings to build his house, which provides him shelter and comfort. Within the present work, mixtures of plaster and dune sand have been studied with the aim of valorization of locally abundant materials. The tests showed that with the addition of dune sand and the compaction, an optimal mixture (67% plaster and 33% dune sand) can be used as a carrier element for construction of up to three levels;since significant increase of the mechanical strength has been observed. The element obtained offers an acceptable thermal insulation with a decrease in the thickness of the outer wall construction. The use of this gypsum’s mortar block as a carrier element in a structure not exceeding three levels, also enables a considerable savings especially in areas where sand and plaster are abundant and relatively inexpensive. 展开更多
