The issue of myopia among children and adoles...Currently, the number of myopic people in China has reached as high as 600 million, and it shows a trend of “early onset, high incidence, and a high degree of severity”. The issue of myopia among children and adolescents has attracted widespread attention from all sectors of society. Comprehensive myopia prevention and control efforts have been launched nationwide. Popular science education, vision screening, and improving visual environments are effective measures for preventing myopia. However, among the target audience for comprehensive myopia prevention and control, the preschool children group has been neglected, and the work of myopia prevention and control for this group has been significantly weakened and marginalized. Due to insufficient awareness of prevention and control, the hyperopia reserve in the preschool children group is being continuously depleted, leading to the early onset of myopia. In light of this situation, the focus of myopia prevention and control needs to shift forward, and it is worth exploring and pondering how college students with a background in optometry can develop entertaining and engaging popular science education materials and methods.展开更多

In order to more accurately reflect the act...The appearance of rumors intensifies people’s panic and affects social stability. How to control the spread of rumors has become an important issue which is worth studying. In order to more accurately reflect the actual situation in the real world, a stochastic model incorporating media coverage and Lévy noise is proposed to describe the dynamic process of rumor propagation. By introducing two control strategies of popular science education and media coverage in an emergency event, an near-optimal control problem that minimizes the influence and control cost of rumor propagation is proposed.Sufficient conditions for near-optimal control of the model are established by using a Hamiltonian function. Then the necessary conditions for near-optimal control are obtained by using the Pontryagin maximum principle. Finally, the effect of popular science education, media coverage and Lévy noise on rumor propagation process control is verified by numerical simulation.展开更多

Amoxicillin is widely used by the Chinese population and available in pharmacies without prescription.We performed a retrospective study on patients with fever who took amoxicillin before going to the fever clinic of ...Amoxicillin is widely used by the Chinese population and available in pharmacies without prescription.We performed a retrospective study on patients with fever who took amoxicillin before going to the fever clinic of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from March 1,2020 to March 31,2021.Among the total of 9093 patients attending the fever clinic,446 patients had a history of taking amoxicillin,from which 100 cases were randomly selected to evaluate the therapeutic effects of non-prescribed amoxicillin by changes in clinical symptoms,counts of white blood cells,neutrophils,and lymphocytes,and levels of C-reactive protein(CRP).The control group consisted of 100 randomly selected patients for who it was verified that they did not take antibiotics before attending the fever clinic.Our study showed that there were no significant differences between the group of patients taking amoxicillin and the control group in terms of symptom improvement,white blood cell,neutrophil or lymphocyte counts,or the levels of CRP.Therefore,our study indicated that although non-prescribed amoxicillin is widely used among patients with fever,it does not provide significant beneficial therapeutic effects.There is still a long way to go to standardize the application of antibiotics and popularize knowledge on proper antibiotics use among the population.展开更多
