Intense rainfall events are the main triggering process for landslides in urbanized slope regions, especially those considered high-risk areas. Various other factors contribute to the process;thus, it is essential to analyze the causes of such incidents in all possible ways. Soil moisture plays a critical role in the Earth’s surface-atmosphere interaction systems;hence, measurements and their estimations are crucial for understanding all processes involved in the water balance, especially those related to landslides. Soil moisture can be estimated from in-situ measurements using different sensors and techniques, satellite remote sensing, hydrological modeling, and indicators to index moisture conditions. Antecedent soil moisture can significantly impact runoff for the same rainfall event in a watershed. The Antecedent Precipitation Index (API) or “retained rainfall,” along with the antecedent moisture condition from the Natural Resources Conservation Service, is generally applied to estimate runoff in watersheds where data is limited or unavailable. This work aims to explore API in estimating soil moisture and establish thresholds based on landslide occurrences. The estimated soil moisture will be compared and calibrated using measurements obtained through multisensor capacitance probes installed in a high-risk area located in the mountainous region of Campos do Jordão municipality, São Paulo, Brazil. The API used in the calculation has been modified, where the recession coefficient depends on air temperature variability as well as the climatological mean temperature, which can be considered as losses in the water balance due to evapotranspiration. Once the API is calibrated, it will be used to extrapolate to the entire watershed and consequently estimate soil moisture. By utilizing recorded mass movements and comparing them with API and soil moisture, it will be possible to determine thresholds, thus enabling anticipation of landslide occurrences.展开更多

One of the important ecological realms, arid grasslands of northern China, which occupy more than 70% of the region's land area. However, the impact of climate change on vegetation growth in these arid grasslands is not consistent and lacks corresponding quantitative research. In this study, NDVI(normalized difference vegetation index) and climate factors including temperature, precipitation, solar radiation, soil moisture, and meteorological drought were analyzed to explore the determinants of changes in grassland greenness in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region(northern China) during 1982–2016. The results showed that grasslands in Inner Mongolia witnessed an obvious trend of seasonal greening during the study period. Two prominent climatic factors, precipitation and soil moisture accounted for approximately 33% and 27% of grassland NDVI trends in the region based on multiple linear regression and boosted regression tree methods. This finding highlights the impact of water constraints to vegetation growth in Inner Mongolia's grasslands. The dominant role of precipitation in regulating grassland NDVI trends in Inner Mongolia significantly weakened from 1982 to 1996, and the role of soil moisture strengthened after 1996. Our findings emphasize the enhanced importance of soil moisture in driving vegetation growth in arid grasslands of Inner Mongolia, which should be thoroughly investigated in the future.展开更多

This study sought to determine whether combining Sentinel-1A, Sentinel-2A, and meteorological data with artificial neural networks (ANN) could improve soil moisture estimation in various land cover types. To train and evaluate the model’s performance, we used field data (provided by La Tuscia University) on the study area collected during time periods between October 2022, and December 2022. Surface soil moisture was measured at 29 locations. The performance of the model was trained, validated, and tested using input features in a 60:10:30 ratio, using the feed-forward ANN model. It was found that the ANN model exhibited high precision in predicting soil moisture. The model achieved a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.71 and correlation coefficient (R) of 0.84. Furthermore, the incorporation of Random Forest (RF) algorithms for soil moisture prediction resulted in an improved R2 of 0.89. The unique combination of active microwave, meteorological data and multispectral data provides an opportunity to exploit the complementary nature of the datasets. Through preprocessing, fusion, and ANN modeling, this research contributes to advancing soil moisture estimation techniques and providing valuable insights for water resource management and agricultural planning in the study area.展开更多

The results showed that the long-term straw mulching can keep the soil moisture conservation of the deep, while decreased the shallow.(1) The long-term straw mulching can changed the type of soil water movement. If no straw mulching, the type is mainly evaporation-infiltration. And with straw mantle the type would change into infiltration. The number of zero flux plane would be reduced or absent.(2) The long-term straw mulching can increase the soil water reserves of the whole soil profile with the depth between 0 cm and 220 cm. But the soil water content of the layer from 30 cm to 80 cm decreased and the soil water content of the layer from 80 cm to 220 cm increased instead., The effect of soil moisture conservation on winter wheat is not obvious;(3) With no straw mulching, the depth of infiltration recharge by rainfall or irrigation is shallower than 80 cm. In a straw mulching, the influence depth is can extend to 120 cm;(4) With no straw mulching, there is a deep layer on the depth of 220 cm between March and June, while this layer will disappear with a long-term straw mulching.展开更多

The objective of this study was to explore the effects of different nitrogen application rates on wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) rhizosphere soil microorganisms and enzyme activities, and their temporal variations in relation to soil fertility under supplemental irrigation conditions in a fluvo-aquic region. For this, we established a split-plot experiment for two consecutive years(2014–2015 and 2015–2016) in the field with three levels of soil moisture: water deficit to no irrigation(W1), medium irrigation to(70±5)% of soil relative moisture after jointing stage(W2), and adequate irrigation to(80±5)% of soil relative moisture after jointing stage(W3);and three levels of nitrogen: 0 kg ha^–1(N1), 195 kg ha^–1(N2) and 270 kg ha^–1(N3). Results showed that irrigation and nitrogen application significantly increased rhizosphere microorganisms and enzyme activities. Soil microbiological properties showed different trends in response to N level;the highest values of bacteria, protease, catalase and phosphatase appeared in N2, while the highest levels of actinobacteria, fungi and urease were observed in N3. In addition, these items performed best under medium irrigation(W2) relative to W1 and W3;particularly the maximum microorganism(bacteria, actinobacteria and fungi) amounts appeared at W2, 5.37×10^7 and 6.35×10^7 CFUs g^–1 higher than those at W3 in 2014–2015 and 2015–2016, respectively;and these changes were similar in both growing seasons. Microbe-related parameters fluctuated over time but their seasonality did not hamper the irrigation and fertilization-induced effects. Further, the highest grain yields of 13 309.2 and 12 885.7 kg ha^–1 were both obtained at W2 N2 in 2014–2015 and 2015–2016, respectively. The selected properties, soil microorganisms and enzymes, were significantly correlated with wheat yield and proved to be valuable indicators of soil quality. These results clearly demonstrated that the combined treatment(W2 N2) significantly improved soil microbiological properties, soil fertility and wheat yield on the Huanghuai Plain, China.展开更多

To investigate the influence of soil moisture on root pullout resistance and failure modes in soil reinforcement process, we conducted pullout tests on alfalfa(Medicago sativa L.) roots at five levels(40, 30, 20, 10 and 6 kPa) of soil matric suction, corresponding to respectively 7.84%, 9.66%, 13.02%, 19.35% and 27.06% gravimetric soil moisture contents. Results showed that the maximal root pullout force of M. sativa decreased in a power function with increasing soil moisture content from 7.84% to 27.06%. Root slippage rate increased and breakage rate decreased with increasing soil moisture content. At 9.66% soil moisture content, root slippage rate and breakage rate was 56.41% and 43.58%, respectively. The threshold value of soil moisture content was about 9.00% for alfalfa roots in the loess soil. The maximal pullout force of M. sativa increased with root diameter in a power function. The threshold value of root diameter was 1.15 mm, because root slipping force was greater than root breaking force when diameter >1.15 mm, while diameter ≤1.15 mm, root slipping force tended to be less than root breaking force. No significant difference in pullout forces was observed between slipping roots and breaking roots when they had similar diameters. More easily obtained root tensile force(strength) is suggested to be used in root reinforcement models under the condition that the effect of root diameter is excluded as the pullout force of breaking roots measured in pullout tests is similar to the root tensile force obtained by tensile tests.展开更多

Characterizing the soil moisture response to its dominant controlling factors, such as land use and topography, and quantifying the soil-water carrying capacity for revegetation is of great significance for vegetation restoration in this region. In this study, soil moisture was monitored to a depth of 2 m in three land use types(native grassland, introduced grassland, and forestland), two landforms(hillslope and gully),and two slope aspects(sunny and shady) in the Nanxiaohegou watershed of the Loess Plateau,Northwest China. The MIKE SHE model was then applied to simulate the soil moisture dynamics under different conditions and determine the optimal plant coverage. Results showed that the average soil moisture was higher in native grassland than in introduced grassland and Platycladus orientalis forestland for a given topographic condition;however,a high soil moisture content was found in Robinia pseudoacacia forestland, with a value that was even higher than the native grassland of a sunny slope. The divergent results in the two forestlands were likely attributed to the differences in plant coverage. Gully regions and shady slopes usually had higher soil moisture, while lower soil moisture was usually distributed on the hillslope and sunny slope.Furthermore, the mean absolute relative error and Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient of the MIKE SHE model ranged between 2.8%–7.8% and 0.550–0.902,respectively, indicating that the model could effectively simulate the soil moisture dynamics. The optimal plant coverage was thus determined for hillslope P. orientalis by the model, corresponding to a leaf area index(LAI) value of 1.92. Therefore, for sustainable revegetation on the Loess Plateau, selecting suitable land use types(natural vegetation),controlling the planting density/LAI, and selecting proper planting locations(gully and shady slope regions) should be considered by local policy makers to avoid the over-consumption of soil water resources.展开更多

The modified infinite slope stability model that directly includes vadose zone soil moisture(SM) was applied at Cleveland Corral, California, US and Krishnabhir, Dhading, Nepal. The variable infiltration capacity(VIC-3L) model simulated vadose zone soil moisture and the wetness index hydrologic model simulated groundwater(GW). The GW model predictions had a 75% NASH-Sutcliffe efficiency when compared to California's in-situ GW measurements. The model performed best during the wet season. Using predicted GW and VIC-3L vadose zone SM, the developed landslide susceptibility maps showed very good agreement with mapped landslides at each study region. Previous quasi-dynamic model predictions of Nepal's hazardous areas during extreme rainfall events were enhanced to improve the spatial characterization and provide the timing of hazardous conditions.展开更多
文摘Landslides are highly dangerous phenomena that occur in different parts of the world and pose significant threats to human populations. By utilizing recorded mass movements and comparing them with API and soil moisture, it will be possible to determine thresholds, thus enabling anticipation of landslide occurrences.

文摘Soil moisture plays an important role in crop yield estimation, irrigation management, etc.Remote sensing technology has potential for large-scale and high spatial soil moisture mapping. However, offline remote sensing data processing is time-consuming and resource-intensive,and significantly hampers the efficiency and timeliness of soil moisture mapping.Due to the high-speed computing capabilities of remote sensing cloud platforms,a High Spatial Resolution Soil Moisture Estimation Framework(HSRSMEF)based on the Google Earth Engine(GEE)platform was developed in this study. The functions of the HSRSMEF include research area and input datasets customization, radar speckle noise filtering,optical-radar image spatio-temporal matching, soil moisture retrieving, soil moisture visualization and exporting. This paper tested the performance of HSRSMEF by combining Sentinel-1,Sentinel-2 images and insitu soil moisture data in the central farmland area of Jilin Province,China.Reconstructed Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI)based on the Savitzky-Golay algorithm conforms to the crop growth cycle, and its correlation with the original NDVI is about 0.99(P<0.001).The soil moisture accuracy of the random forest model(R 2=0.942,RMSE=0.013 m3/m3)is better than that of the water cloud model(R 2=0.334,RMSE=0.091 m3/m3).HSRSMEF transfers time-consuming offline operations to cloud computing platforms, achieving rapid and simplified high spatial resolution soil moisture mapping.

文摘Seasonal prediction of summer precipitation over eastern China is closely linked to the East Asian monsoon circulation, which is largely affected by the El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO).In this study, results show that spring soil moisture(SM)over the Indo-China peninsula(ICP)could be a reliable seasonal predictor for eastern China summer precipitation under non-ENSO conditions. When springtime SM anomalies are present over the ICP,they trigger a structured response in summertime precipitation over most of eastern China. The resultant south-to-north,tri-polar configuration of precipitation anomalies has a tendency to yield increased(decreased)precipitation in the Yangtze River basin and decreased(increased)in South and North China with a drier(wetter)spring soil condition in the ICP.The analyses show that ENSO exerts a powerful control on the East Asian circulation system in the ENSO-decaying summer. In the case of ENSO forcing, the seasonal predictability of the ICP spring SM for eastern China summer precipitation is suppressed. However,in the absence of the influence of ENSO sea surface temperature anomalies from the preceding winter, the SM anomalies over the ICP induce abnormal local heating and a consequent geopotential height response owing to its sustained control on local temperature, which could,in turn, lead to abnormal eastern China summer precipitation by affecting the East Asian summer monsoon circulation. The present findings provide a better understanding of the complexity of summer climate predictability over eastern China, which is of potential significance for improving the livelihood of the people.

文摘Climate change impacts on grasslands that cover a quarter of the global land area, have become unprecedented during the 21~(st) century. Our findings emphasize the enhanced importance of soil moisture in driving vegetation growth in arid grasslands of Inner Mongolia, which should be thoroughly investigated in the future.
文摘For many environmental and agricultural applications, an accurate estimation of surface soil moisture is essential. Through preprocessing, fusion, and ANN modeling, this research contributes to advancing soil moisture estimation techniques and providing valuable insights for water resource management and agricultural planning in the study area.

文摘The cosmic-ray neutron technology is a novel method for upscaling soil moisture, holding significant importance in drought monitoring, soil water storage estimation, calibration of remote sensing products, and data assimilation of land surface models. However, most studies conducted soil moisture measurement experiments using static Cosmic-Ray Neutron Sensors(CRNS)and are often limited to a single landscape, lacking in-situ measurement for the cosmic-ray neutron rover across various landscapes. This study carried out soil moisture observation experiments using a cosmic-ray neutron rover in nine grassland plots, nine farmland plots, and nine desert plots of the Heihe River Basin,Northwest China. The neutron counts displayed clear variations among different plots, and an equation could represent the relationship between neutron intensity and multiple variables near the ground. The parameter N0 was the smallest for grassland and greatest for desert, and there was a significant negative correlation between Normalized Difference Vegetation Index and N0(P<0.05).Furthermore,the performance of CRNS notably improved after considering soil lattice water and soil organic matter. The Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)between the measured and oven-dried soil moisture increased with radius.Soil moisture measured by CRNS strongly supported the 100 m diameter footprint assumption(RMSE<0.044 g/g).The study offers valuable insights into the application and promotion of cosmic-ray neutron technology across various landscapes within a basin.

文摘Using sea surface salinity(SSS)observation from the soil moisture active passive(SMAP)mission,we analyzed the spatial distribution and seasonal variation of SSS around Changjiang River(Yangtze River)Estuary for the period of September 2015 to August 2018.First,we found that the SSS from SMAP is more accurate than soil moisture and ocean salinity(SMOS)mission observation when comparing with the in situ observations. Then, the SSS signature of the Changjiang River freshwater was analyzed using SMAP data and the river discharge data from the Datong hydrological station. The results show that the SSS around the Changjiang River Estuary is significantly lower than that of the open ocean, and shows significant seasonal variation. The minimum value of SSS appears in July and maximum SSS in December. The root mean square difference of daily SSS between SMAP observation and in situ observation is around 3 in both summer and winter, which is much lower than the annual range of SSS variation. In summer, the diffusion direction of the Changjiang River freshwater depicted by SSS from SMAP is consistent with the path of freshwater from in situ observation, suggesting that SMAP observation may be used in coastal seas in monitoring the diffusion and advection of freshwater discharge.

文摘To reveal the influencing effect of the long-term straw mulching on the soil moisture, this paper employed the field experiment data in 2010 of a typical area of Taihang Mountains plain, observed the soil moisture dynamic regularities under different mulching patterns by virtue of depressimeter and neutron probe, analyzed the characteristics of soil water content and storage in different depths and seasons under the long-term straw mulching. In a straw mulching, the influence depth is can extend to 120 cm;(4) With no straw mulching, there is a deep layer on the depth of 220 cm between March and June, while this layer will disappear with a long-term straw mulching.

文摘Soil management practices affect rhizosphere microorganisms and enzyme activities, which in turn influence soil ecosystem processes. These results clearly demonstrated that the combined treatment(W2 N2) significantly improved soil microbiological properties, soil fertility and wheat yield on the Huanghuai Plain, China.

文摘Plant root system plays an important role in preventing soil erosion and improving slope stability. However, its performance is significantly affected by soil moisture content, and the role of soil moisture in root reinforcement is not fully understood. In this study, the influence of soil moisture on root pullout properties was studied by experiments.Vertical in-situ pullout tests under four different levels of soil matric suction(12 kPa,18 kPa,24 kPa,30 kPa)were carried out on roots of sea buckthorn plants(Hippophae rhamnoides Linn.)which were artificially cultivated for 7 months.Diameter and length of the root system of sea buckthorn were investigated. The results showed that a very significant correlation was observed between root diameter(D)and root length(L)(P<0.01),and root diameter decreased with soil depth. When soil bulk density was constant, peak pullout force(F)and friction coefficient of root-soil interface(μ)decreased with increasing gravimetric soil moisture content in power functions.Soil moisture content significantly affected root pullout resistance because the increase of soil moisture content decreased the friction coefficient between the roots and soil.Root diameter at breakage point(Db)and length of root segment left in soil(Lb)were increased with soil moisture content. In addition, peak pullout force of the roots increased in a power function with root diameter at the soil surface(D0)and in a linear function with total root length(L).The results provided an experimental basis for quantifying the effects of soil moisture content on soil reinforcement by plant roots.

文摘Soil moisture is essential for plant growth in terrestrial ecosystems. This study investigated the visible-near infrared(Vis-NIR)spectra of three subgroups of purple soils(calcareous, neutral, and acidic)from western Chongqing,China, containing different water contents. The relationship between soil moisture and spectral reflectivity(R)was analyzed using four spectral transformations, and estimation models were established for estimating the soil moisture content(SMC)of purple soil based on stepwise multiple linear regression(SMLR)and partial least squares regression(PLSR).We found that soil spectra were similar for different moisture contents, with reflectivity decreasing with increasing moisture content and following the order neutral>calcareous>acidic purple soil(at constant moisture content).Three of the four spectral transformations can highlight spectral sensitivity to SMC and significantly improve the correlation between the reflectance spectra and SMC.SMLR and PLSRmethods provide similar prediction accuracy. The PLSR-based model using a first-order reflectivity differential(R?)is more effective for estimating the SMC,and gave coefficient of determination(v2),root mean square errors of validation(RMSEV),and ratio of performance to inter-quartile distance(RPIQ)values of 0.946,1.347,and 6.328,respectively,for the calcareous purple soil, and 0.944,1.818,and 6.569,respectively,for the acidic purple soil. For neutral purple soil, the best prediction was obtained using the SMLR method with R?transformation,yieldingv2,RMSEV and RPIQ values of 0.973,0.888 and 8.791,respectively.In general,PLSR is more suitable than SMLR for estimating the SMC of purple soil.

文摘This study provides a comprehensive evaluation of historical surface soil moisture simulation(1979-2012)over Eurasia at annual and seasonal time scales between two medium-resolution versions of the Beijing Climate Center Climate System Model(BCC-CSM)—one that is currently participating in phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6),i.e.,BCC-CSM2-MR,and the other,BCC-CSM1.1m,which participated in CMIP5.We show that BCC-CSM2-MR is more skillful in reproducing the climate mean states and standard deviations of soil moisture, with pattern correlations increased and biases reduced significantly.BCC-CSM2-MR performs better in capturing the first two primary patterns of soil moisture anomalies, where the period of the corresponding time series is closer to that of reference data.Comparisons show that BCC-CSM2-MR performs at a high level among multiple models of CMIP6 in terms of centered pattern correlation and“amplitude of variation”(relative standard deviation). In general, the centered pattern correlation of BCC-CSM2-MR,ranging from 0.61 to 0.87,is higher than the multi-model mean of CMIP6,and the relative standard deviation is 0.75,which surmounts the overestimations in most of the CMIP6 models.Due to the vital role played by precipitation in land-atmosphere interaction, possible causes of the improvement of soil moisture simulation are further related to precipitation in BCC-CSM2-MR.The results indicate that a better description of the relationship between soil moisture and precipitation and a better reproduction of the climate mean precipitation by the model may result in the improved performance of soil moisture simulation.

文摘Root pullout property of plants was of key importance to the soil reinforcement and the improvement of slope stability. More easily obtained root tensile force(strength) is suggested to be used in root reinforcement models under the condition that the effect of root diameter is excluded as the pullout force of breaking roots measured in pullout tests is similar to the root tensile force obtained by tensile tests.

文摘Based on split plot design method of field test, the impacts of supplemental irrigation based on soil moisture measurement and nitrogen use on winter wheat yield and nitrogen absorption and distribution were studied.Supplemental irrigation had three levels: 60%(W_1),70%(W_2) and 80%(W3) of the targeted relative water content at 0-40 cm of soil layer during jointing period of winter wheat.Nitrogen fertilization had three levels: not using nitrogen(N_0),using pure nitrogen of 195 kg/hm^2(N_(195)) and 255 kg/hm^2(N_(255)).Results showed that:(i)different supplemental irrigation and nitrogen fertilization significantly affected plant height and leaf area of winter wheat during key growth period.Under the same supplemental irrigation treatment, both plant height and leaf area of winter wheat showed as N_(255)> N_(195)> N_0(P <0.05).Plant height in N_(195) and N_(255)treatments was significantly higher than that in N_0 treatment, but there was not significant difference between N_(195) and N_(255)(P >0.05).Under the same nitrogen fertilization, plant height in W_2(569.4 m^3/hm^2) and W3(873.45 m^3/hm^2) treatments was significant higher than that in W_1(265.2 m^3/hm^2),but there was not significant difference between W_2 and W3(P >0.05).It illustrated that excessive nitrogen fertilization and supplemental irrigation did not significantly affect plant height and leaf area of winter wheat.(ii) Under the same nitrogen fertilization level, yield increase effect of winter wheat by supplemental irrigation showed a declining trend with nitrogen application amount increased. It illustrated that nitrogen fertilization and supplemental irrigation had certain critical values on the yield of winter wheat. When surpassing the critical value, the yield declined. When nitrogen fertilization amount was 195 kg/hm^2,and supplemental irrigation amount was 70% of field moisture capacity(569.4 m^3/hm^2),the highest yield 8500 kg/hm^2 could be obtained.(iii) During mature period of winter wheat, nitrogen accumulation amount of plant treated by nitrogen was significantly higher than that not treated by nitrogen(P <0.05).But under the treatments of W_2 and W3,nitrogen accumulation amount in N_(255) significantly declined when compared with N_(195)(P <0.05).Especially under W3(873.45 m^3/hm^2) level, nitrogen accumulation amount in N_(255) was even lower than N_0.Under the treatments of N_0 and N_(195),nitrogen accumulation amount of plant significantly increased with supplemental irrigation increased(P < 0.05).But under N_(255) treatment, there was not significant difference(P > 0.05).It illustrated that moderate supplemental irrigation and nitrogen fertilization could improve nitrogen absorption ability of winter wheat, but excessive supplemental irrigation and nitrogen fertilization were not favorable for plant's nitrogen absorption.(iv) Although the increase of supplemental irrigation during jointing period improved nitrogen absorption ability of winter wheat and promoted winter wheat absorbing more nitrogen,it inhibited nitrogen transferring and distributing to seed.Comprehensively considering growth condition of winter wheat and nitrogen risk condition,it is suggested that nitrogen application amount was 195 kg/hm^2,and supplemental irrigation reached 70% of field moisture capacity(569.4 m^3/hm^2),which could be as the suitable water and fertilizer use amounts in the region.

文摘In addition to bacteria, the contribution of fungi to nitrous oxide(N_(2)O)production has been recognized but the responses of these two broad and unrelated groups of microorganisms to global environmental changes, atmospheric nitrogen(N)deposition, and precipitation in terms of N_(2)O production are unclear. We studied how these two microbial-mediated N_(2)O production pathways responded to soil moisture conditions and to N addition in an N-limited temperate forest.Soils from a long-term N addition experiment in Changbai Mountain, northeastern China were incubated.Varied concentrations of cycloheximide and streptomycin, both inhibitors of fungal and bacterial activity, were used to determine the contributions of both to N_(2)O production in 66%,98%and 130%water-filled pore spaces(WFPS).The results showed that N_(2)O production decreased significantly with increasing cycloheximide concentration whereas streptomycin was only inhibiting N_(2)O emissions at 98%and 130%WFPS.The bacterial pathway of N_(2)O production in N-addition(Nadd)soil was significantly more dominant than that in untreated(Namb)soil. The difference in the fungal pathway of N_(2)O production between the soil with nitrogen addition and the untreated soil was not significant.Net N_(2)O emissions increased with increasing soil moisture, especially at 130%WFPS,a completely flooded condition.Bacteria dominated carbon dioxide(CO_(2))and N_(2)O emissions in Nadd soil and at 130%WFPS regardless of N status, while fungi dominated CO_(2)and N_(2)O emissions in soil without N addition at 66%and 98%WFPS.The results suggest that flooded soil is an important source of N_(2)O emissions and that bacteria might be better adapted to compete in fertile soils under anoxic conditions.

文摘Soil moisture is a limiting factor of ecosystem development in the semi-arid Loess Plateau. Therefore, for sustainable revegetation on the Loess Plateau, selecting suitable land use types(natural vegetation),controlling the planting density/LAI, and selecting proper planting locations(gully and shady slope regions) should be considered by local policy makers to avoid the over-consumption of soil water resources.

文摘A landslide susceptibility mapping study was performed using dynamic hillslope hydrology. Previous quasi-dynamic model predictions of Nepal's hazardous areas during extreme rainfall events were enhanced to improve the spatial characterization and provide the timing of hazardous conditions.
