Recent theoretical and experimental studies have demonstrated that twodimensional(2D) honeycomb lattice systems with inversion symmetry breaking, such as transition-metal dichalcogenides(TMDs), are ideal candidates for realizing valley polarization. In addition to the optical field, lifting the valley degeneracy of TMDs by introducing magnetism is an efficient way to manipulate the valley degree of freedom. In this paper, we first review the recent progress on valley polarization in various TMD-based systems, including magnetically doped TMDs,intrinsic TMDs with both inversion and time-reversal symmetry broken, and magnetic TMD heterostructures. When topologically nontrivial bands are empowered into valley-polarized systems, valley-polarized topological states, namely valleypolarized quantum anomalous Hall effect can be realized. Therefore, we have also reviewed the theoretical proposals for realizing valley-polarized topological states in 2D honeycomb lattices. Our paper can help readers quickly grasp the latest research developments in this field.展开更多

The specific objectives were to describe the socioeconomic characteristics of agricultural extension personnel in Ebonyi and Imo States, and to ascertain the digital literacy level of AEP in the studied states. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 312 Agricultural Extension personnel (132 from Ebonyi State Agricultural Development Program and 180 from Imo State Agricultural Development Program) for the study. Data were collected through the use of validated and structured questionnaire, and administered through the help of well-trained enumerators. Data were analysed using simple descriptive statistical tools such as percentages mean score, standard deviation and weighted mean. Findings indicated that they were more male in the both States (55.3% and 57.8%) for Ebonyi and Imo State respectively and that the average age of AEP in Ebonyi and Imo States were 44.7 years and 49.2 years respectively. It is found that the intensity of the HHG increases significantly from a certain harmonic order below the ionization threshold, and the initial position of the enhancement does not depend on the intensity or the wavelength of the driving laser field. Further analysis shows that excited states play an important role on this enhancement, consistent with the excited-state tunneling mechanism [Phys. Rev. Lett. 116 123901(2016)]. Our results unambiguously show that excited-state tunneling is essential for understanding the enhancement of HHG. Accordingly, a four-step model is herein proposed to illustrate the multiphoton excitation effect in helium-like ions, which enriches the physics of HHG enhancement.展开更多

Rev. A 78 042327(2007)). It is, however, shown that such a measure has many imperfects such as the lack of the swapping symmetry and the ineffectiveness evaluation of even Schr?dinger-cat-like states with small amplitudes. To deal with these difficulties, we propose an improved measure of non-Gaussianity for quantum states and discuss its properties in detail. We then exploit this improved measure to evaluate the non-Gaussianities of some relevant single-mode non-Gaussian states and multi-mode non-Gaussian entangled states. These results show that our measure is reliable. We also introduce a modified measure for Gaussianity following Mandilara and Cerf(Phys. Rev. A 86 030102(R)(2012)) and establish a conservation relation of non-Gaussianity and Gaussianity of a quantum state.展开更多

文摘Assessment of past-climate simulations of regional climate models(RCMs)is important for understanding the reliability of RCMs when used to project future regional climate. Here,we assess the performance and discuss possible causes of biases in a WRF-based RCM with a grid spacing of 50 km,named WRFG,from the North American Regional Climate Change Assessment Program(NARCCAP)in simulating wet season precipitation over the Central United States for a period when observational data are available. The RCM reproduces key features of the precipitation distribution characteristics during late spring to early summer, although it tends to underestimate the magnitude of precipitation. This dry bias is partially due to the model’s lack of skill in simulating nocturnal precipitation related to the lack of eastward propagating convective systems in the simulation.Inaccuracy in reproducing large-scale circulation and environmental conditions is another contributing factor. The too weak simulated pressure gradient between the Rocky Mountains and the Gulf of Mexico results in weaker southerly winds in between, leading to a reduction of warm moist air transport from the Gulf to the Central Great Plains. The simulated low-level horizontal convergence fields are less favorable for upward motion than in the NARR and hence, for the development of moist convection as well. Therefore,a careful examination of an RCM’s deficiencies and the identification of the source of errors are important when using the RCM to project precipitation changes in future climate scenarios.

文摘Highly controlled electronic correlation in twisted graphene heterostructures has gained enormous research interests recently, encouraging exploration in a wide range of moirésuperlattices beyond the celebrated twisted bilayer graphene. Here we characterize correlated states in an alternating twisted Bernal bilayer–monolayer–monolayer graphene of~1.74°,and find that both van Hove singularities and multiple correlated states are asymmetrically tuned by displacement fields. In particular, when one electron per moiréunit cell is occupied in the electron-side flat band,or the hole-side flat band(i.e.,three holes per moiréunit cell),the correlated peaks are found to counterintuitively grow with heating and maximize around 20 K–a signature of Pomeranchuk effect. Our multilayer heterostructure opens more opportunities to engineer complicated systems for investigating correlated phenomena.

文摘We explore the behaviors of optically coupled topological corner states in supercell arrays composed of photonic crystal rods, where each supercell is a second-order topological insulator. Our findings indicate that the coupled corner states possess nondegenerate eigenfrequencies at theΓpoint, with coupled dipole corner states excited resonantly by incident plane waves and displaying a polarization-independent characteristic. The resonance properties of coupled dipole corner states can be effectively modulated via evanescently near-field coupling, while multipole decomposition shows that they are primarily dominated by electric quadrupole moment and magnetic dipole moment.Furthermore,we demonstrate that these coupled corner states can form surface lattice resonances driven by diffractively far-field coupling, leading to a dramatic increase in the quality factor. This work introduces more optical approaches to tailoring photonic topological states, and holds potential applications in mid-infrared topological micro-nano devices.

文摘We theoretically investigate high-order harmonic generation(HHG) of helium(He), lithium cation(Li+), and beryllium dication(Be2+) using the time-dependent Hartree–Fock method to solve the three-dimensional time-dependent Schr ¨odinger equation. Accordingly, a four-step model is herein proposed to illustrate the multiphoton excitation effect in helium-like ions, which enriches the physics of HHG enhancement.

文摘Non-Gaussianity of quantum states is a very important source for quantum information technology and can be quantified by using the known squared Hilbert–Schmidt distance recently introduced by Genoni et al.(Phys. Rev. A 86 030102(R)(2012)) and establish a conservation relation of non-Gaussianity and Gaussianity of a quantum state.

文摘The helicity-dependent photoconductance of the edge states in three-dimensional topological insulator Bi_(2)Te_(3)films is investigated. It is revealed that the helicity-dependent photoconductivity current on the left edge of the Bi_(2)Te_(3)film shows an opposite sign with that on the right edge.In addition, the helicity-dependent photoconductivity current increases linearly with the applied longitudinal electric field, and it reverses the sign with the reversal of the electric field. As the thickness of the Bi_(2)Te_(3)film increases, the helicity-dependent photoconductivity current also increases.Theoretical analysis suggests that the helicity-dependent photo-conductivity current may come from the intrinsic spin orbit coupling(SOC)or the SOC introduced by the chiral impurities or defects.

文摘The local density of optical states(LDOS)is an important physical concept, which can characterize the spontaneous emission of microcavities. In order to calculate the LDOS,the relationship between the mode spectrum and the LDOS is established. Then, based on the transfer matrix method and the effective resonator model, the leaky loss of the leaky mode and the mode spectrum in the one-dimensional photonic bandgap crystal waveguide are calculated, results of which indicate that the mode spectrum can characterize the leaky loss of the leaky mode.At last, the density of optical states(DOS),and the LDOS in each layer are calculated. The partial DOS and the partial LDOS in the quantum well, related to the fundamental leaky mode, can be used to find out the optimal location of the quantum well in the defect layer to couple more useful photons into the lasing mode for lasers.

文摘Photonic waveguides are the most fundamental element for photonic integrated circuits(PICs).Waveguide properties, such as propagation loss, modal areas, nonlinear coefficients, etc.,directly determine the functionalities and performance of PICs.Recently, the emerging waveguides with bound states in the continuum(BICs)have opened new opportunities for PICs because of their special properties in resonance and radiation. Here,we review the recent progress of PICs composed of waveguides with BICs.First, fundamentals including background physics and design rules of a BIC-based waveguide will be introduced.Next, two types of BIC-based waveguide structures, including shallowly etched dielectric and hybrid waveguides, will be presented.Lastly, the challenges and opportunities of PICs with BICs will be discussed.

文摘This work investigates the effect of passivation on the electronic properties of inorganic perovskite CsPbI_(3)materials by using first-principles calculations with density functional theory(DFT).The passivation effect after the addition of Phenylethylamine(PEA+)molecule to CsPbI_(3)(110)surface is studied. The results of density of states(DOS)calculations show that the CsPbI_(3)(110)surface model with I atom terminated reveals new electronic DOS peaks(surface states)near the Fermi level. These surface states are mainly due to the contribution of I-5p orbital and are harmful to the CsPbI_(3)-based solar cells because they reduce the photoelectric conversion efficiency. The surface states near the Fermi level are significantly reduced, and the decline rate reaches 38.8%with the addition with PEA+molecule to the CsPbI3(110)surface.

文摘Stable low-frequency squeezed vacuum states at a wavelength of 1550 nm were generated.By controlling the squeezing angle of the squeezed vacuum states, two types of low-frequency quadrature-phase squeezed vacuum states and quadrature-amplitude squeezed vacuum states were obtained using one setup respectively.A quantum-enhanced fiber Mach–Zehnder interferometer(FMZI)was demonstrated for low-frequency phase measurement using the generated quadrature-phase squeezed vacuum states that were injected. When phase modulation was measured with the quantumenhanced FMZI,there were above 3 dB quantum improvements beyond the shot-noise limit(SNL)from 40 kHz to 200 kHz,and 2.3 dB quantum improvement beyond the SNL at 20 kHz was obtained. The generated quadrature-amplitude squeezed vacuum state was applied to perform low-frequency amplitude modulation measurement for sensitivity beyond the SNL based on optical fiber construction. There were about 2 dB quantum improvements beyond the SNL from 60 kHz to 200 kHz.The current scheme proves that quantum-enhanced fiber-based sensors are feasible and have potential applications in high-precision measurements based on fiber, particularly in the low-frequency range.
