Vector of diagnostic signs(VDS)using torsional vibration(TV)signal on the main propulsion plant(MPP)is the vector of z maxima(or minima)values of the TV signal in accordance with the cylinder firing orders.The technical states of the marine diesel engine(MDE)include R=z+1 classes and are presented in z-dimensional space coordinate of VDS.The presentation of Dk,k=1÷R using z diagnostic signs(Vi,i=1÷z)is nonfigurative and quite complicated.This paper aims to develop a new method for converting VDS from z-dimensional to 2-dimensional space(two-axes)based on the firing orders of the diesel cylinders,as an equivalent geometrical sign of the all diagnostic signs.The proposed model is useful for presenting a technical state Dk in two-dimensional space(x,y)for better visualization.The paper verifies the simulation of the classification illustration of the 7–state classes for the MDE 6S46-MCC,installed on the motor vessel(MV)34000DWT,using the new above mentioned method.The seven technical state classes(for 6-cylinder MDE,z=6)are drawn separately and visually in the Descartes.The received results are valuable to improve smart diagnostic system for analyzing normal/misfire states of cylinders in operation regimes. 展开更多

An adaptive command filter control strategy was proposed to realize the asymptotic tracking of the roll speed,which successfully suppressed torsional vibration for the main drive system of the rolling mill with nonlinear friction,nonlinear damping,current harmonic,time-varying stiffness and unknown disturbance.A finite time predetermined performance method was proposed,so that the speed tracking error of the main transmission system was always constrained in the performance function and converged to its minimum boundary within the specified time.Based on the adaptive estimation of harmonic amplitude,the torque control law of the motor was obtained by using the filter backstepping method,which prevented the torsional vibration of the system caused by the input fluctuation and avoided the complexity explosion of the controller design,and the stability of the closed-loop system was strictly proved by the Lyapunov theory.The actual numerical simulation verified the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy. 展开更多

This paper provides a systematic analysis of the large scale PMsG(permanent magnet synchronous generator)-based WECS(wind energy conversion system)torsional vibration problem under MPPT(maximum power point tracking)control and constant power control.This is from the perspective of SSo(sub-synchronous oscillation),SSH(sub-syn-chronous harmonics)and forced torsional vibration.The cause of SsO is the negative total system damping,weak-ened by the constant power control.The system is susceptible to inducing SSH in the grid current and voltage in the under-damped condition.To effectively suppress the torsional vibration of PMSG-based WECS,a stiffness compensa-tion control strategy based on adaptive damping is proposed.The results show that SSo,SSH and the forced torsional vibration can be suppressed at the source using the proposed suppression strategy. 展开更多

The active torsion propulsion mode of a caudal fin,composed of macro fiber composites(MFC)and carbon fiber orthotropic composite material is proposed.The caudal fin is excited by the piezoelectric structure to vibrate flexibly.The work principle is firstly analyzed by finite element method(FEM)and experiments.Then the caudal fin is optimized to increase the torque and improve the streamline,and the added mass effect from the water is discussed in terms of the frequency of the structure.The torsion resonance frequency is around 103 Hz in the air and decreased by 75%to 25 Hz in the water.Finally,the mean thrust is discussed and measured to be 11 mN at900V(Peak to peak)driving voltage.A flexible micro robot is developed and tested.The locomotion velocity and flow velocity is 320mm/s and 268mm/s,respectively.The results of the simulation and experiments indicate that the locomotion of the biomimetic aquatic robot has fast movement characteristics. 展开更多

Rotational speed stability is an important evaluation indicator of the performance of a hydro-viscous clutch(HVC).To improve the rotational speed stability of HVCs in mixed lubrication and the running condition of the friction pairs,the speed stability of an HVC in mixed lubrication was studied.To this end,the friction coefficients of both copper-based and paper-based friction pairs were experimentally tested using an MM1000-III wet friction machine.Theoretically,a torsional vibration model of the system is presented.The phase plane analysis method is applied to evaluate the stability of the torsional vibration model,where a critical negative gradient(CNG)is defined.The results show that the friction coefficient in mixed lubrication is an important parameter for the stability of the rotational speed.The system will be unstable when the negative gradient of the friction coefficient-slip speed is larger than the CNG.According to the definition of the CNG,suggestions regarding choice of friction pairs are made to improve the rotational speed stability of an HVC in mixed lubrication. 展开更多

In the existing literature, most studies investigated the free vibrations of a rotating pre-twisted cantilever beam;however, few considered the effect of the elastic-support boundary and the quantification of modal coupling degree among different vibration directions. In addition, Coriolis, spin softening, and centrifugal stiffening effects are not fully included in the derived equations of motion of a rotating beam in most literature, especially the centrifugal stiffening effect in torsional direction. Considering these deficiencies, this study established a coupled flapwise–chordwise–axial–torsional dynamic model of a rotating double-tapered, pre-twisted, and inclined Timoshenko beam with elastic supports based on the semi-analytic method. Then, the proposed model was verified with experiments and ANSYS models using Beam188 and Shell181 elements. Finally, the effects of setting and pre-twisted angles on the degree of coupling among flapwise, chordwise, and torsional directions were quantified via modal strain energy ratios. Results showed that 1) the appearance of torsional vibration originates from the combined effect of flapwise–torsional and chordwise–torsional couplings dependent on the Coriolis effect, and that 2) the flapwise–chordwise coupling caused by the pure pre-twisted angle is stronger than that caused by the pure setting angle. 展开更多
