Linear frequency-modulated signals with a frequency band of 260-360Hz were transmitted by a transducer hung on a floating ship during the experiment and were received by a horizontal line array towed by another ship sailing away from the transducer. The maximum distance between the two ships was 1029km. Signals were received at the distances 34-220 kin, 612-635 km and 926-1029 kin. Transmission loss versus distance between source and receiver was obtained and compared with the theoretical results predicted by the parabolic equation method program RAM. It is shown that RAM is adequate for estimating the transmission loss for distances up to 1029km. When the water depth is larger than the surface conjugate depth, the ocean bottom rarely influences the transmission loss in the convergence zones. However, in the opposite situation, the ocean bottom contributes significantly to the transmission loss.展开更多

The deadbands were respectively set up at the sensor to the controller and the controller to the actor sides in the WNCS, which were used to reduce data transmission, furthermore, to decrease the network collision and node energy consumption. Under the consideration of time-varying delays and signal transmission deadbands, the model for the WNCS was presented. A novel Lyapunov functional which took full advantages of the network factors was exploited. Meanwhile, new stability analysis and stabilization conditions for the WNCS were proposed, which described the relationship of the delay bounds, the transmission deadband bounds and the system stability. Two examples were used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods. The results show that the proposed approach can guarantee asymptotical stability of the system and reduce the data transmission effectively.展开更多

Critical concentration C-crit of forming Liquid crystal phase decreased with increasing solubility parameter delta of solvent until approaching the delta of polymer. Although the alcohols used as solvents had the same variation rule, the critical concentration values of their solutions were much higher, due to their excessive large hydrogen bond component of delta. The experiments of using mixed solvents which showed good linear relation between C-crit and delta also proved this rule. A technique of Transmission Optical Analysis was first used to estimate the concentration dependence of critical phase transition temperature T-crit of EC, and a T-C phase diagram could be drawn.展开更多

This method not only improves the computing speed, but also provides the flexibility to adjust the simulation accuracy. Numerical simulation of the wave propagation in the oceanic waveguide structure is done. In addition, the initial field distribution and progressive steps are determined. The loss model in the waveguide is solved through the numerical solution. By comparing the characteristics of the radio wave propagation in the duct and in the normal atmospheric structure, we analyses the radio transmission over the horizon detection in the oceanic waveguide.展开更多

In this work, the virtual loop described the original circuit successfully and the optimizations were effective. A 10 GHz high-efficiency low phase-noise oscillator utilizing an InGaP/GaAs HBT was achieved. The 10.028 GHz oscillator delivered an output power of over 15 dBm with a phase-noise of lower than -107 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset. The efficiency of DC to RF transformation was 35 %. The results led to a good oscillator figure of merit of-188 dBc/Hz. The measurement results agreed well with those of the simulations.展开更多

It was found that iron catalysts can consume the CNTs when pumping out the precursor gas, acetylene, at the growth temperature, and reinitiate the growth when acetylene is re-introduced. The switching between gasification and growth of CNTs can be repeated many times with the same catalyst. To understand the phenomenon, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) coupled with mass spectroscopy was used to study the mechanism involved. It was shown that the residual water molecules in the growth chamber of the TEM react with and remove carbon atoms of CNTs as carbon monoxide vapor under the action of the catalyst, when the precursor gas is pumped out. This result contributes to a better understanding of the water-assisted and oxygen-assisted synthesis of CNT arrays, and provides useful clues on how to extend the lifetime and improve the activity of the catalysts.展开更多

Form A, with better crystal stability and bioavailability, has been widely used as the pharmaceutical crystal form. Unfortunately, it is usually found in a polymorphic mixture with form B. In this study, pure crystal forms of A and B were prepared and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and thermal analysis. An XRPD-based method for the quantitative determination of the amount of the flupirtine maleate polymorphs form A and form B was also established through a systematic optimization of instrumental parameters. The results of the analytical methodology validation showed that the XPRD method had a broad quantitative range of 0- 100% (w/w), good linear relationship, with R2= 0.999, excellent repeatability and precision and low limits of detection (LoD) of 0.15% (w/w) and quantification (LoQ) of 0.5% (w/w). The results also showed that the single-peak method was not as good as the whole pattern in reducing the influence of the preferred orientation, but this can be compensated for by a systematic optimization of instrumental parameters and validating the analytical methodology to reduce errors and obtain a good, repeatable, sensitive, and accurate method. This XRPD method can be used to analyze mixtures of flupirtine maleate polymorphs (forms A and B) quantitatively and control the quality of the bulk drug.展开更多
