To investigate the influence of wet conditions on vehicle braking behavior,a numerical-analytical method was proposed for the simulation of tire hydroplaning and frictional energy dissipation. First, a finite element model of tire hydroplaning was established using the coupled EulerianLagrangian method, including a pneumatic tire model and a textured asphalt pavement model. Then, the frictional force on the tire-pavement interface at different speeds was calculated by the model. Based on vehicle braking mechanism and frictional energy dissipation,a calculation method for braking distance was proposed based on a three-stage braking process. The proposed method was verified by comparing the calculated hydroplaning speed and braking distance with field test results. Then, vehicle braking distances and wet friction coefficients were calculated under different conditions. The results show that thinner water film,a more complex tread pattern and higher tire inflation pressure all contribute to the vehicle braking performance; moreover, the pavement texture has obvious influence on vehicle braking behavior, especially at a high speed. The proposed method shows great effectiveness in predicting vehicle braking behavior on wet asphalt pavements. 展开更多

The operating principle of an antilock braking system (ABS) is it compares current value of angular acceleration with the threshold value. The advantage of such system is that enough it has only the angular velocity sensors. The disadvantage is successive overshoot, i. e. successive transition from wheels locking mode to wheels rolling mode. So braking mechanism can’ t realize the maximum possible torque in the current road conditions. The idea of increasing the braking effectiveness is the intensity of rising pressure depends on the road conditions. The problem is the torque produced by braking mechanism, current road conditions and the value of traction coefficient is unknown For evaluation of these parameters built and training three neural networks. A simulator of random road condition's variation was built to test adequacy of the control unites operation in close to real conditions. 展开更多

A heavy-haul train-track coupled model is developed. Taking the emergency braking of the 2×104 t combined train as example, the train longitudinal impulse, the coupler dynamic behaviors and wheel-rail interactions of vehicles distributing in the different positions are analyzed. The results indicate that under the coupler compressing forces, the couplers of middle locomotives may tilt to the free swing limits, which induces the unidirectional tilt of their connected wagon couplers. Consequently, the coupler longitudinal forces produce the lateral components, and then affect the wheel-rail dynamic interaction. The performance of the middle locomotive and their neighboring freight wagons deteriorate significantly, becoming the most dangerous parts in the combined train. The wagons disconnecting with the locomotives can basically keep their couplers to stabilize in the centering positions, even though the maximum coupler longitudinal force acts on it. And its corresponding running safety also has little changes. 展开更多
