This paper considers the application of robust control methods(μ-and H∞-synthesis)to the speed and acceleration control problem encountered in electric vehicle powertrains.To this end,we consider a two degree of freedom control structure with a reference model.The underlying powertrain model is derived and combined into the corresponding interconnected system required forμ-and H∞-synthesis.The closed-loop performance of the resulting controllers are compared in a detailed simulation analysis that includes nonlinear effects.It is observed that theμ-controller offers performance advantages in particular for the acceleration control problem,but at the price of a high-order controller. 展开更多

A pure electric vehicle driven by dual motors is taken as the research object and the driving scheme of the driving motor is improved to increase the transmission efficiency of existing electric vehicles.Based on the architecture of the transmission system,we propose vehicle performance parameters and performance indexes of a pure electric vehicle,a time-sharing driving strategy of dual motors.First,the parameters of the battery,motor,and transmission system are matched.Then,the electric vehicle transmission model is built in Amesim and the control strategy is designed in Simulink.With the optimization goal of improving the vehicle’s dynamic performance and driving range,the optimal parameters are determined through analysis.Finally,the characteristics of the motor are tested on the bench.The results show that the energy-saving potential of the timesharing driven double motor is higher,and the driving mileage of the double motor drive is increased by 4%. 展开更多

In recent decades,worldwide global warming and reduction in petroleum resources have accelerated researcher’s attention to produce alternative sustainable and environmentally clean transportation systems.Electrification of vehicular technology is capable of curbing the environmental pollution problem in an efficient and effective way,due to high efficiency electric motors,development and advancement in the field of power electronic devices,digital signal processing and advanced control techniques.This article presents a comprehensive review on different configurations/architecture of electric vehicles(EVs)and hybrid electric vehicles(HEVs),traction motors for electric propulsion system and high performance speed sensorless control of traction drive.The basic architecture key components of hybrid vehicle and different power train configurations with respect to applications and limitations are discussed.The integral part of electric propulsion system,traction motor classes for desired operational characteristics and limitations are summarized from a system perspective with the latest improvements.High performance traction motor control techniques are discussed with respect to automotive applications.Finally,speed sensorless control techniques research trends as well as an extensive review on rotor speed estimation techniques for robust and efficient sensorless traction drive control are highlighted.This article provides state of the art key global trends and tradeoff of various technologies with future trends and potential areas of research. 展开更多

Medium-duty/heavy-duty trucks(MD/HDTs)are yet to be included in India’s electric mobility plans.With the improvement of electric vehicle(EV)technologies,there is a growing interest in battery-electric trucks(BETs)from original equipment manufacturers(OEMs).The time is opportune to consider electrification as a future direction for road freight in India.Accordingly,this article presents the results of an energy consumption simulation study of a BET under Indian conditions.This study specifically considered an MDBET over a domestic drive cycle.These energy consumption figures can facilitate future studies that analyze the technical and practical feasibility of BETs in the country.In addition,the article provides the requisite groundwork for BET modeling for a simulation study by reviewing available EV powertrain systems and components.Appropriate powertrain considerations are thereby obtained for a typical medium-duty/heavy-duty battery-electric truck(MD/HDBET)in the Indian context. 展开更多

The influence of the dynamic parameters of a dual mass flywheel(DMF)on its vibration reduction performance is analyzed,and several optimization algorithms are used to carry out multiobjective DMF optimization design.First,the vehicle powertrain system is modeled according to the parameter configuration of the test vehicle.The accuracy of the model is verified by comparing the simulation data with the test results.Then,the model is used to analyze the influence of the moment of inertia ratio,torsional stiffness,and damping in reducing DMF vibration.The speed fluctuation amplitude at the transmission input shaft and the natural frequency of the vehicle are taken as the optimization objectives.The passive selection method,multiobjective particle swarm optimization,and the nondominated sorting genetic algorithm based on an elite strategy are used to carry out DMF multiobjective optimization design.The advantages and disadvantages of these algorithms are evaluated,and the best optimization algorithm is selected. 展开更多
