It is composed of public opinion subject, public opinion object and media. The characteristics of online public opinion in universities include subject specificity, object sensitivity, and rapid dissemination. The main challenge that counselors face in the governance of online public opinion in universities is the intensification of ideological risks and the difficulty of value guidance;the irrational voice intensifies, and the positive guidance of public opinion deepens the pressure;diversified development of communication platforms and lack of diversified means for public opinion governance. As frontline personnel in student management, counselors should play a phased role in the governance of online public opinion in accordance with the five stages of the development of online public opinion in universities.展开更多
