Probiotics are live microorganisms exerting beneficial effects on the host’s health when administered in adequate amounts.Among the most popular and adequately studied probiotics are bacteria from the families Lactobacillaceae,Bifidobacteriaceae and yeasts. Most of them have been shown, both in vitro and in vivo studies of intestinal inflammation models,to provide favorable results by means of improving the gut microbiota composition, promoting the wound healing process and shaping the immunological responses.Chronic intestinal conditions, such as inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD),are characterized by an imbalance in microbiota composition, with decreased diversity, and by relapsing and persisting inflammation, which may lead to mucosal damage.Although the results of the clinical studies investigating the effect of probiotics on patients with IBD are still controversial,it is without doubt that these microorganisms and their metabolites, now named postbiotics, have a positive influence on both the host’s microbiota and the immune system, and ultimately alter the topical tissue microenvironment. This influence is achieved through three axes:(1)By dis-placement of potential pathogens via competitive exclusion;(2)by offering protection to the host through the secretion of various defensive mediators;and(3)by supplying the host with essential nutrients. We will analyze and discuss almost all the in vitro and in vivo studies of the past 2 years dealing with the possible favorable effects of certain probiotic genus on gut immunological responses, highlighting which species are the most beneficial against intestinal inflammation. 展开更多

Pancreatobiliary intraductal papillary neoplasms(IPNs)represent precursors of pancreatic cancer or bile duct cholangiocarcinoma that can be detected and treated.Despite advances in diagnostic methods, identifying these premalignant lesions is still challenging for treatment providers.Modern imaging, biomarkers and molecular tests for genomic alterations can be used for diagnosis and follow-up.Surgical intervention in combination with new chemotherapeutic agents is considered the optimal treatment for malignant cases. The balance between the risk of malignancy and any risk of resection guides management policy;therefore, treatment should be individualized based on a meticulous preoperative assessment of high-risk stigmata.IPN of the bile duct is more aggressive;thus, early diagnosis and surgery are crucial. The conservative management of low-risk pancreatic branch-duct lesions is safe and effective. 展开更多

Approximately 12-72 million people worldwide are co-infected with hepatitis B virus(HBV)and hepatitis delta virus(HDV).This concurrent infection can lead to several severe outcomes with hepatic disease, such as cirrhosis, fulminant hepatitis, and hepatocellular carcinoma, being the most common.Over the past few decades,a correlation between viral hepatitis and autoimmune diseases has been reported.Furthermore, autoantibodies have been detected in the serum of patients co-infected with HBV/HDV,and autoimmune features have been reported. However,to date, very few cases of clinically significant autoimmune hepatitis(AIH)have been reported in patients with HDV infection, mainly in those who have received treatment with pegylated interferon.Interestingly, there are some patients with HBV infection and AIH in whom HDV infection is unearthed after receiving treatment with immunosuppressants.Consequently, several questions remain unanswered with the challenge to distinguish whether it is autoimmune or“autoimmune-like”hepatitis being the most crucial.Second,it remains uncertain whether autoimmunity is induced by HBV or delta virus. Finally,we investigated whether the cause of AIH lies in the previous treatment of HDV with pegylated interferon. These pressing issues should be elucidated to clarify whether new antiviral treatments for HDV,such as Bulevirtide or immu-nosuppressive drugs, are more appropriate for the management of patients with HDV and AIH. 展开更多

Colorectal carcinoma is common, particularly on the left side.In 20%of patients, obstruction and ileus may be the first clinical manifestations of a carcinoma that has advanced(stage II,III or even IV).Diagnosis is based on clinical presentation, plain abdominal radiogram, computed tomography(CT),CT colonography and positron emission tomography/CT.The best management strategy in terms of short-term operative or interventional and long-term oncological outcomes re-mains unknown. For the most common left-sided obstruction, the first choice should be either emergency surgery or endoscopic decompression by self-expen-dable metal stents or tubes. The operative plan should be either one-stage or two-stage resection.One-stage resection with on-table bowel decompression and irrigation can be accompanied or not accompanied by proximal defunctioning stoma(colostomy or ileostomy).Primary anastomosis is more convenient but has increased risks of anastomotic leakage and morbidity.Two-stage resection(Hart-mann’s procedure)is safer and the most widely used despite temporally affecting quality of life.Damage control surgery in high-risk frail patients is less frequently performed since it can be successfully substituted with endoscopic stenting or tubing. For the less common right-sided obstruction,one-stage surgical resection is more beneficial than endoscopic decompression. The role of minimally invasive surgery(laparoscopic or robotic)is a subject of debate.Emergency laparoscopic-assisted management is advantageous to some extent but requires much expertise due to inherent difficulties in dissecting the distended colon and the risk of rup-ture and subsequent septic complications. The decompressing stent as a bridge to elective surgery more substantially decreases the risks of morbidity and mortality than emergency surgery for decompression and has equivalent medium-term overall survival and disease-free survival rates. Its combination with neoadjuvant chemotherapy or radiation may have a positive effect on long-term oncological outcomes.Management plans are crucial and must be individualized to better fit each case.Core Tip:Acute obstruction is common in patients with more advanced colorectal carcinoma and may be the first manifestation mainly of left-sided obstruction and in elderly individuals.Emergency decompression is mandatory.Emergency surgical resection and primary anastomosis accompanied or not accompanied by proximal defunctioning stoma must be the first treatment choice for fit patients under 70 years.Hartmann’s two-stage procedure, although more preferable, must be the second alternative choice.Emergency endoscopic self-expendable metal stents must be preferred in unfit patients as a bridge to surgery and for palliative treatment in all inoperable cases. However, these basic management principles constitute a general direction.Decision-making is important and should be individualized. 展开更多

Gallbladder(GB)carcinoma, although relatively rare,is the most common biliary tree cholangiocarcinoma with aggressiveness and poor prognosis. It is closely associated with cholelithiasis and long-standing large(>3 cm)gallstones in up to 90%of cases. The other main predisposing factors for GB carcinoma include molecular factors such as mutated genes,GB wall calcification(porcelain)or mainly mucosal microcalcifications, and GB polyps≥1 cm in size.Diagnosis is made by ultrasound, computed tomography(CT),and, more precisely, magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).Preoperative staging is of great importance in decisionmaking regarding therapeutic management.Preoperative staging is based on MRI findings, the leading technique for liver metastasis imaging, enhanced three-phase CT angiography,or magnetic resonance angiography for major vessel assessment. It is also necessary to use positron emission tomography(PET)-CT or ^(18)F-FDG PET-MRI to more accurately detect metastases and any other occult deposits with active metabolic uptake.Staging laparoscopy may detect dissemination not otherwise found in 20%-28.6%of cases.Multimodality treatment is needed, including surgical resection, targeted therapy by biological agents according to molecular testing gene mapping, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy. It is of great importance to understand the updated guidelines and current treatment options. The extent of surgical intervention depends on the disease stage, ranging from simple cholecystectomy(T1a)to extended resections and including extended cholecystectomy(T1b),with wide lymph node resection in every case or IV-V segmentectomy(T2),hepatic trisegmentectomy or major hepatectomy accompanied by hepaticojejunostomy Roux-Y,and adjacent organ resection if necessary(T3).Laparoscopic or robotic surgery shows fewer postoperative complications and equivalent oncological outcomes when compared to open surgery, but much attention must be paid to avoiding injuries. In addition to surgery, novel targeted treatment along with immunotherapy and recent improvements in radiotherapy and chemotherapy(neoadjuvant-adjuvant capecitabine, cisplatin, gemcitabine)have yielded promising results even in inoperable cases calling for palliation(T4).Thus,individualized treatment must be applied. 展开更多

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC)remains one of the most commonly performed procedures in adult and paediatric populations.Despite the advances made in intraoperative biliary anatomy recognition, iatrogenic bile duct injuries during LC represent a fatal complication and consist an economic burden for healthcare systems.A series of methods have been proposed to prevent bile duct injury, among them the use of indocyanine green(ICG)fluorescence. The most commonly reported method of ICG injection is the intravenous administration, while literature is lacking studies investigating the direct intragallbladder ICG injection. This narrative mini-review aims to assess the potential applications, usefulness, and limitations of intragallbladder ICG fluorescence in LC.Authors screened the available international literature to identify the reports of intragallbladder ICG fluorescence imaging in minimally invasive cholecystectomy,as well as special issues regarding its use.Literature search retrieved four prospective cohort studies, three case-control studies, and one case report. In the three case-control studies selected, intragallbladder near-infrared cholangiography(NIRC)was compared with standard LC under white light, with intravenous administration of ICG for NIRC and with standard intraoperative cholangiography(IOC).In total,133 patients reported in the literature have been administered intragallbladder ICG administration for biliary mapping during LC.Literature includes several reports of intragallbladder ICG administration, but a standardized technique has not been established yet.Published data suggest that NIRC with intragallbladder ICG injection is a promising method to achieve biliary mapping, overwhelming limitations of IOC including intervention and radiation exposure,as well as the high hepatic parenchyma signal and time interval needed in intravenous ICG fluorescence.Evidence-based guidelines on the role of intragallbladder ICG fluorescence in LC require the assessment of further studies and multicenter data collection into large registries. 展开更多

Acetabular fractures in the geriatric population are typically low-energy fractures resulting from a fall from standing height.Compromised bone quality in the elderly,as well as this population’s concomitant medical comorbidities, render the management of such fractures challenging and controversial.Non-operative management remains the mainstay of treatment, although such a choice is associated with numerous and serious complications related to both the hip joint as well as the general condition of the patient. On the other hand, operatively treating acetabular fractures(e.g.,with osteosynthesis or total hip arthroplasty)is gaining popularity.Osteosynthesis can be performed with open reduction and internal fixation or with minimally invasive techniques.Total hip arthroplasty could be performed either in the acute phase combined with osteosynthesis or as a delayed procedure after a period of non-operative management or after failed osteosynthesis of the acetabulum.Regardless of the implemented treatment, orthogeriatric co-management is considered extremely crucial, and it is currently one of the pillars of a successful outcome after an acetabular fracture. 展开更多

In this editorial,we comment on the article by Zeng et al published in the recent issue of the World Journal of Diabetes in 2024.We focus on the epidemiological, pathophysiological, and clinical interplay between obesity and type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM).Overweight and obesity represent a growing threat for modern societies and people with T1DM could not be an exception to this rule.Chronic exogenous insulin administration, genetic and epigenetic factors, and psy-chosocial and behavioral parameters, along with the modern way of life that incorporates unhealthy eating patterns and physical inactivity, set the stage for the increasing obesity rates in T1DM.As our knowledge of the underlying mechanisms that lead to the development of obesity and hyperglycemia expands,it becomes clear that there are overlap zones in the pathophysiology of the two main types of diabetes.Stereotypes regarding strict dividing lines between“autoimmune”and“metabolic”phenotypes increase the risk of trapping physicians into ineffective therapeutic approaches, instead of individualized diabetes care.In this context, the use of adjuncts to insulin therapy that have the potential to alleviate cardiorenal risk and decrease body weight can reduce the burden of obesity in patients with T1DM. 展开更多

Groundwater vulnerability assessment is a crucial step in the efficient management of groundwater resources, especially in areas with intensive anthropogenic activities and groundwater pollution. In the present study, the DRASTIC method was applied using Geographic Information System(GIS)to delineate groundwater vulnerability zones in the Erbil Dumpsite area,Central Erbil Basin,North Iraq. Results showed that the area was classified into four vulnerability classes:Very low(16.97%),low(27.67%),moderate(36.55%)and high(18.81%).The southern,south-eastern and northern parts of the study area exhibited the highest vulnerability potential, while the central-northern,northern and north-western regions displayed the lowest vulnerability potential. Moreover, results of the single-parameter sensitivity analysis indicated that amongst the seven DRASTIC parameters, the unsaturated zone and the aquifer media were the most influencing parameters. In conclustion, the correlation of 25 nitrate concentration values with the final vulnerability map, assessed using the Pearson correlation coefficient, yielded a satisfactory result of R=0.72. 展开更多

The new coronavirus severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARSCoV-2)was identified in December 2019,in Wuhan,China. The virus was rapidly spread worldwide, causing coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic.Although COVID-19 is presented, usually, with typical respiratory symptoms(i.e.,dyspnea,cough)and fever, extrapulmonary manifestations are also encountered.Liver injury is a common feature in patients with COVID-19 and ranges from mild and temporary elevation of liver enzymes to severe liver injury and, even, acute liver failure. The pathogenesis of liver damage is not clearly defined;multiple mechanisms contribute to liver disorder, including direct cytopathic viral effect, cytokine storm and immune-mediated hepatitis, hypoxic injury, and druginduced liver toxicity.Patients with underlying chronic liver disease(i.e.,cirrhosis,non-alcoholic fatty liver disease,alcohol-related liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma, etc.)may have greater risk to develop both severe COVID-19 and further liver deterioration, and,as a consequence, certain issues should be considered during disease management. The aim of this review is to present the prevalence, clinical manifestation and pathophysiological mechanisms of liver injury in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Moreover,we overview the association between chronic liver disease and SARS-CoV-2 infection and we briefly discuss the management of liver injury during COVID-19. 展开更多

Background:For the past 30 years, the hamstring(H)-to-quadriceps(Q)(H:Q)torque ratio has been considered an important index of muscle strength imbalance around the knee joint. The purpose of this systematic review was to examine the value of H:Q torque ratio as an independent risk factor for hamstring and anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)injuries. Methods:Database searches were performed to identify all relevant articles in PubMed,MEDLINE,Cochrane Library, and Scopus.Prospective studies evaluating the conventional(concentric H:Q),functional(eccentric H:concentric Q),and mixed(eccentric H at 300/s:concentric Q at2400/s)H:Q ratios as risk factors for occurrence of hamstring muscle strain or ACL injury were considered.Risk of bias was assessed using the Quality In Prognosis Studies tool. Results:Eighteen included studies reported 585 hamstrings injuries in 2945 participants, and 5 studies documented 128 ACL injuries in 2772participants.Best evidence synthesis analysis indicated that there is very limited evidence that H:Q strength ratio is an independent risk factor for hamstring and ACL injury, and this was not different between various ratio types.Methodological limitations and limited evidence for ACL injuries and some ratio types might have influenced these results. Conclusion:The H:Q ratio has limited value for the prediction of ACL and hamstring injuries.Monitoring strength imbalances along with other modifiable factors during the entire competitive season may provide a better understanding of the association between H:Q ratio and injury. 展开更多

The management policy of concomitant cholelithiasis and choledocholithiasis is based on a one-or two-stage procedure. It basically includes either laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC)with laparoscopic common bile duct(CBD)exploration(LCBDE)in the same operation or LC with preoperative, postoperative and even intraoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography-endoscopic sphincterotomy(ERCP-ES)for stone clearance. The most frequently used worldwide option is preoperative ERCP-ES and stone removal followed by LC,preferably on the next day.In cases where preoperative ERCP-ES is not feasible, the proposed alternative of intraoperative rendezvous ERCP-ES simultaneously with LC has been advocated. The intraoperative extraction of CBD stones is superior to postoperative rendezvous ERCP-ES.However,there is no consensus on the superiority of laparoendoscopic rendezvous. This is equivalent to a traditional two-stage procedure.Endoscopic papillary large balloon dilation reduces recurrence.LCBDE and intraoperative ERCP have similar good outcomes. The risk of recurrence after ERCP-ES is greater than that after LCBDE.Laparoscopic ultrasonography may delineate the anatomy and detect CBD stones. The majority of surgeons prefer the transcductal instead of the transcystic approach for CBDE with or without T-tube drainage, but the transcystic approach must be used where possible.LCBDE is a safe and effective choice when performed by an experienced surgeon. However, the requirement of specific equipment and advanced training are drawbacks. The percutaneous approach is an alternative when ERCP fails.Surgical or endoscopic reintervention for retained stones may be needed. For asymptomatic CBD stones,ERCP clearance is the firstchoice method. Both one-stage and two-stage management are acceptable and can ensure improved quality of life. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Acute cholangitis(AC)constitutes an infection with increased mortality rates in the past.Due to new diagnostic tools and therapeutic methods, the mortality of AC has been significantly reduced nowadays. The initial antibiotic treatment of AC has been oriented to the most common pathogens connected to this infection. However, the optimal duration of the antibiotic treatment of AC is still debatable.AIM To investigate if shorter-course antibiotic treatments could be similarly effective to long-course treatments in adults with AC.METHODS This study constitutes a systematic review and meta-analysis of the existing literature concerning the duration of antibiotic therapy of AC and an assessment of the quality of the evidence. The study was conducted in accordance with the recommendations of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses.Fifteen studies were included in the systematic review, and eight were eligible for meta-analysis.Due to heterogeneous duration cutoffs, three study-analysis groups were formed, with a cutoff of 2-3,6-7,and 14 d.RESULTS A total of 2763 patients were included in the systematic review, and 1313 were accounted for the meta-analysis.The mean age was 73.66±14.67 years, and the male and female ratio was 1:08.No significant differences were observed in the mortality rates of antibiotic treatment of 2-3 d,compared to longer treatments(odds ratio=0.78,95% confidence interval:0.23-2.67,I2=9%)and the recurrence rates and hospitalization length were also not different in all study groups.CONCLUSION Short-and long-course antibiotic treatments may be similarly effective concerning the mortality and recurrence rates of AC.Safe conclusions cannot be extracted concerning the hospitalization duration. 展开更多

Necrotizing or severe pancreatitis represents approximately 10%-20%of acute pancreatitis.30%-40%of patients with acute necrotizing pancreatitis(ANP)will develop debris infection through translocation of intestinal microbial flora.Infected ANP constitutes a serious clinical condition and is complicated by severe sepsis with high mortality rates of up to 40%despite progress in current intensive care. The timely detection of sepsis is crucial. The Quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score, procalcitonin levels>1.8 ng/mL and increased lactates>2 mmol/L(>18 mg/dL),indicate the need for urgent management. The escalated step-by-step management protocol starts with broad-spectrum antibiotics, percutaneous drainage or endoscopic management, and ends with surgical management if needed. The latter includes necrosectomy(either laparoscopic or traditional open surgery),peritoneal lavage and extensive drainage. This management protocol increases the chance of survival to approximately 60%in patients with otherwise fatal cases.Any treatment choice must be individualized, and the timing is critical. 展开更多

Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine malignancy. While there has been no appreciable increase in the observed mortality of well-differentiated thyroid cancer, there has been an overall rise in its incidence worldwide over the last few decades.Patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC)and clinical evidence of central(cN1)and/or lateral lymph node metastases require total thyroidectomy plus central and/or lateral neck dissection as the initial surgical treatment.Nodal status in PTC patients plays a crucial role in the prognostic evaluation of the recurrence risk. The 2015 guidelines of the American Thyroid Association(ATA)have more accurately determined the indications for therapeutic central and lateral lymph node dissection. However, prophylactic central neck lymph node dissection(pCND)in negative lymph node(cN0)PTC patients is controversial,as the 2009 ATA guidelines recommended that CND“should be considered”routinely in patients who underwent total thyroidectomy for PTC.Although the current guidelines show clear indications for therapeutic CND,the role of pCND in cN0 patients with PTC is still debated. In small solitary papillary carcinoma(T1,T2),pCND is not recommended unless there are high-risk prediction factors for recurrence and diffuse nodal spread(extrathyroid extension, mutation in the BRAF gene).pCND can be considered in cN0 disease with advanced primary tumors(T3 or T4)or clinical lateral neck disease(cN1b)or for staging and treatment planning purposes. The role of the preoperative evaluation is fundamental to minimizing the possible detrimental effect of overtreatment of the types of patients who are associated with low disease-related morbidity and mortality. On the other hand,it determines the choice of appropriate treatment and determines if close monitoring of patients at a higher risk is needed. Thus,pCND is currently recommended for T3 and T4 tumors but not for T1 and T2 tumors without high-risk prediction factors of recurrence. 展开更多

We present a statistical investigation of the degree of influence that assumptions made in relation to the mechanical parameters of a pylon have on its ground-induced vibrations. The study is set up by using as a key kinematic variable the displacement at the top of a reference,a stand-alone pylon with a uniform cross-section and fixity at its base.Next, statistics are produced using a dimensionless displacement ratio defined between the‘parental’and the‘subsidiary’cases, the latter defined for the pylon(a)resting on compliant soil,(b)having an attached top mass, and(c)being non-uniform with height.Furthermore, two materials are examined, namely, steel and reinforced concrete(R/C).More specifically, this displacement ratio is independent of the excitation and plays the role of a transfer function between the base and the top of the pylon. Both horizontal and vertical motions are considered, and the equations of motion are solved in the frequency domain. The ensuing statistical analysis is conducted for the following parameter combinations:(a)pylon founded on soft, intermediate, and stiff soil;(b)low, intermediate, and high-mass ratios of the attached mass to the pylon′s mass;(c)a constant and quadratic degree of pylon tapering with height.Spearman correlation coefficients are calculated for all the above combinations to arrive at statistical results that establish validity bounds and quantify the degree of influence of each assumption on the pylon′s response. 展开更多

Gastroenterology is a particularly data-rich field, generating vast repositories of data that are a fruitful ground for artificial intelligence(AI)and machine learning(ML)applications. In this opinion review,we initially elaborate on the current status of the application of AI/ML-based software in gastroenterology.Currently,AI/ML-based models have been developed in the following applications:Models integrated into the clinical setting following real-time patient data flagging patients at high risk for developing a gastrointestinal disease, models employing non-invasive parameters that provide accurate diagnoses aiming to either replace, minimize,or refine the indications of endoscopy, models utilizing genomic data to diagnose various gastrointestinal diseases,computer-aided diagnosis systems facilitating the interpretation of endoscopy images, models to facilitate treatment allocation and predict the response to treatment, and finally, models in prognosis predicting complications, recurrence following treatment, and overall survival. Then,we elaborate on several challenges and how they may negatively impact the widespread application of AI in healthcare and gastroenterology.Specifically,we elaborate on concerns regarding accuracy,cost-effectiveness,cybersecurity,interpretability,oversight,and liability. While AI is unlikely to replace physicians,it will transform the skillset demanded by future physicians to practice. Thus, physicians are expected to engage with AI to avoid becoming obsolete. 展开更多

Primary hyperparathyroidism(pHPT)is the third most common endocrine disease. The surgical procedure aims for permanent cure, but recurrence has been reported in 4%-10%of pHPT patients.Preoperative localization imaging is highly valuable. It includes ultrasound, computed tomography(CT),single-photonemission CT,sestamibi scintigraphy and magnetic resonance imaging. The operation has been defined as successful when postoperative continuous eucalcemia exists for more than the first six months.Ongoing hypercalcemia during this period is defined as persistence, and recurrence is defined as hypercalcemia after six months of normocalcemia.Vitamin D is a crucial factor for a good outcome.Intraoperative parathyroid hormone(PTH)monitoring can safely predict the outcomes and should be suggested.PTH≤40 pg/mL or the traditional decrease≥50%from baseline minimizes the likelihood of persistence.Risk factors for persistence are hyperplasia and normal parathyroid tissue on histopathology.Risk factors for recurrence are cardiac history, obesity, endoscopic approach and low-volume center(at least 31 cases/year).Cases with double adenomas or four-gland hyperplasia have a greater likelihood of persistence/recurrence.A 6-mo calcium>9.7 mg/dL and eucalcemic parathyroid hormone elevation at 6 mo may be associated with recurrence necessitating long-term follow-up.18F-fluorocholine positron emission tomography and 4-dimensional CT in persistent and recurrent cases can be valuable before reoperation. With these novel advances in preoperative imaging and localization as well as intraoperative PTH measurement, the recurrence rate has dropped to 2.5%-5%.Sixmonth serum calcium≥9.8 mg/dL and parathyroid hormone≥80 pg/mL indicate a risk of recurrence.Negative sestamibi scintigraphy, diabetes and elevated osteocalcin levels are predictors of multiglandular disease, which brings an increased risk of persistence and recurrence.Bilateral neck exploration was considered the gold-standard diagnostic method.Minimally invasive parathyroidectomy and neck exploration are both effective surgical techniques.Multidisciplinary diagnostic and surgical management is required to prevent persistence and recurrence.Long-term follow-up,even up to 10 years,is necessary. 展开更多

The coronary sinus(CS)is a tubular venous structure in the left atrioventricular groove that drains around 55% of the deoxygenated coronary arterial blood supply into the right atrium.[1,2]The CS,predominantly a small structure, can be significantly dilated leading to a condition known as giant CS.Giant CS is a clinically important but rare echocardiographic finding, which can be caused by a variety of factors. 展开更多
