In this study, spectral measurements of saline soil samples collected from the Yellow River Delta region of China were conducted in laboratory and hyperspectral data were acquired from an EO-1 Hyperion sensor to quantitatively map soil salinity in the region. A soil salinity spectral index (SSI) was constructed from continuum-removed reflectance (CR-reflectance) at 2052 and 2203 nm, to analyze the spectral absorption features of the salt-affected soils. There existed a strong correlation (r = 0.91) between the SSI and soil salt content (SSC). Then, a model for estimation of SSC with SSI was established using univariate regression and validation of the model yielded a root mean square error (RMSE) of 0.986 and an R2 of 0.873. The model was applied to a Hyperion reflectance image on a pixel-by-pixel basis and the resulting quantitative salinity map was validated successfully with RMSE = 1.921 and R2 = 0.627. These suggested that the satellite hyperspectral data had the potential for predicting SSC in a large area.展开更多

As such, the classical initial-boundary value problem for the Terzaghi one-dimensional consolidation equation is not well-posed. Moreover, the classical boundary conditions of the equation can only be applied to problems with either perfectly pervious or perfectly impervious boundaries. General boundary conditions are proposed to overcome these shortcomings and thus transfer the solution of the Terzaghi one-dimensional consolidation equation to a well-posed initial boundary value problem. The solution for proposed general boundary conditions is validated by comparing it to the classical solution. The actual field drainage conditions can be simulated by adjusting the values of parameters b and c given in the proposed general boundary conditions. For relatively high coefficient of consolidation, just one term in series expansions is enough to obtain results with acceptable accuracy.展开更多

In this paper, an experimental study on the uplift pressures of waves on a horizontal plate is conducted by use of a series of model tests. Detailed analysis has been given to the formation mechanism of uplift pressures of waves. It is considered that the impact pressure intensity is mainly affected by geometrical factors (tangential angle of waves), dynamic factors (wave height, wave velocity, etc.) and air cushion. Based on the test results, an equation for calculation of the maximum uplift pressure intensity of waves on a plate is presented. A large quantity of test data shows good agreement of the present equation with the test results.展开更多

A four-axle heavy truck-road coupling system model was established using FVP technology and validated through a ride comfort test. Then appropriate passive air suspensions were chosen to replace the rear tandem suspensions of the original truck model for preliminary optimization. The mechanical properties and time lag of dampers were taken into account in simulations of MSD and PID semi-active dampers implemented using MATLAB/Simulink. Through co-simulations with Adams and MATLAB, the effects of semi-active MSD and PID control were analyzed and compared, and control parameters which afforded the best comprehensive performance for each control strategy were chosen. Simulation results indicate that compared with the passive air suspension truck, semi-active MSD control improves both ride comfort and road-friendliness markedly, with optimization ratios of RMS vertical acceleration and RMS tyre force ranging from 10.1% to 44.8%. However, semi-active PID control only reduces vertical vibration of the driver's seat by 11.1%, 11.1% and 10.9% on A, B and C level roads respectively. Both strategies are robust to the variation of road level.展开更多

Many researches are focused on crimping in certain manufacturing mode of welding pipe. The application scopes of research achievements become limited due to lack of uniformity in theoretical analysis. In order to propose a crimping prediction method in order to control forming quality, the theory model of crimping based on elastic-plastic mechanics is established. The main technical parameters are determined by theoretical analysis, including length of crimping, base radius of punch, terminal angle of punch, base radius of die, terminal angle of die and horizontal distance between punch and die. In addition, a method used to evaluate the forming quality is presented, which investigates the bending angle after springback, forming force, straight edge length and equivalent radius of curvature. In order to investigate the effects of technical parameters on forming quality, a two-dimensional finite element model is established by finite element software ABAQUS. The finite element model is verified in that its shapes error is less than 5% by comparable experiments, which shows that their geometric precision meets demand. The crimping characteristics is obtained, such as the distribution of stress and strain and the changes of forming force, and the relation curves of technical parameters on forming quality are given by simulation analysis. The sensitivity analysis indicates that the effects of length of crimping, technical parameters of punch on forming quality are significant. In particular, the data from simulation analysis are regressed by response surface method (RSM) to establish prediction model. The feasible technical parameters are obtained from the prediction model. This method presented provides a new thought used to design technical parameters of crimping forming and makes a basis for improving crimping forming quality.展开更多

文摘Renewable energy exploitation is among the development strategies set by the government of Rwanda on the roadmap to 2023/2024 universal electricity access and theUnitedNations plans by 2030.Numerous previous studies oncleanenergy technologies inRwandahavemostly focusedonhouseholds’usagebut there are currentlynostudies describing the feasibility of clean energy technologies for financial institutions. The skepticism on renewable energy in Africa was previously reported by some personnel.Having realized that most SACCOs(Savings and Credit Co-Operatives)in Rwanda use diesel technology for backup/emergency electricity supply, taking consideration of abundant solar resources in Rwanda, having seen the viability and feasibility studies from other countries of renewable energy for different institutions(financial included);thiswork uses theHOMEREnergy Software and the electricity load profile of a typical SACCO in Rwanda to analyse the affordability and viability of on-site renewable energy generation for SACCO in Rwanda. The results reveal that a solar PV systemwith storage can be the optimal solution(with levelized cost of electricity(LCOE)of 0.713$/kWh which is cheaper than 0.73$/kWh for diesel technology)for SACCOs located in both off-grid areas and grid-connected areas(with 0.041$/kWh LCOE which is lower than the current electricity tariff in Rwanda). The findings in this work can serve as basic tools/materials for policy drafters in Rwanda on how financial institutions can contribute to climate change mitigation through self-renewable energy exploitation.

文摘The base layer constructed by cement-stabilized macadam(CSM)has been widely used in highway construction due to its low elasticity deformation and high carrying capacity. As a bearing layer, the CSM base is not exempt from fatigue cracking under cyclic loading in the service process.Cracks in the base will create irreversible structural and functional deficiencies, such as the potential for reflective cracking of subsequently placed asphalt concrete overlays. The fracture of the base will shorten the service life of the pavement. The quality of the CSM base is directly related to the bearing capacity and integrity of the whole pavement structure. It is of practical significance to further study the fatigue failure behavior of CSM material for the long-term performance of the pavement. The CSM material is a typical heterogeneous multiphase composite. On the mesoscale,CSM consists of aggregate, cement mortar, pores, and the interface transitional zone(ITZ).On the microscale, the hardened mortar contains a large number of capillary pores, unhydrated particles, hydrated crystals, etc.,which makes the spatial distribution of its material properties stochastic. In addition, cement hydration, dry shrinkage, and temperature shrinkage can also produce micro-crack defects in cement mortar. These microcracks will have crossscale evolution under load, resulting in structural fracture.Macroscopic complex deformation and mechanical response are the reflections of its microscopic and even mesoscale composition and structure. This study summarized the existing studies on the mesoscopic properties of CSM materials, respectively from the three aspects of mesostructure, structural characterization, and mesoscale fatigue damage analysis,to help the development of long-life pavement. The future research direction is to explore the mesoscale characteristics of CSM using multiscale representation and analysis methods,to establish the connection between mesoscale characteristics and macroscopic mechanical properties.

文摘Soil nonlinear behavior displays noticeable effects on the site seismic response. This study proposes a new functional expression of the skeleton curve to replace the hyperbolic skeleton curve.By integrating shear modulus and combining the dynamic skeleton curve and the damping degradation coefficient, the constitutive equation of the logarithmic dynamic skeleton can be obtained, which considers the damping effect in a soil dynamics problem.Based on the finite difference method and the multi-transmitting boundary condition,a 1D site seismic response analysis program called Soilresp1D has been developed herein and used to analyze the time-domain seismic response in three types of sites. At the same time, this study also provides numerical simulation results based on the hyperbolic constitutive model and the equivalent linear method. The results verify the rationality of the new soil dynamic constitutive model. It can analyze the mucky soil site nonlinear seismic response, reflecting the deformation characteristics and damping effect of the silty soil. The hysteresis loop area is more extensive, and the residual strain is evident.

文摘Soil salinization is one of the most common land degradation processes. These suggested that the satellite hyperspectral data had the potential for predicting SSC in a large area.

文摘Boundary conditions for the classical solution of the Terzaghi one-dimensional consolidation equation conflict with the equation's initial condition. For relatively high coefficient of consolidation, just one term in series expansions is enough to obtain results with acceptable accuracy.
文摘Uplift pressures of waves acting on horizontal plates are the important basis for design of maritime hollow-trussed structures. A large quantity of test data shows good agreement of the present equation with the test results.

文摘One-dimensional consolidation of visco-elastic aquitard due to withdrawal of deep-groundwater was studied.Merchant model was used to simulate visco-elastic characteristic of aquitard.General solutions of the governing equation were obtained by applying Laplace transform with respect to time, and then the pore-pressure,strain and deformation of the aquitard could be calculated by Laplace inversion.A case was analyzed to validate the correctness of the present method. Finally, some consolidation properties of the problem were analyzed.Comparison of the average degree of consolidation defined by pore pressure with that defined by settlement shows that they are different and the maximum difference is 22.8%.The influences of parameters of Merchant model and the rate of the water level on the consolidation are great. The smaller the viscosity coefficient is,the later the rate of consolidation decreases. The rate of consolidation is decreased with the decrease of the rate of the water level fall. Therefore, the lagged effect of land subsidence should be considered in the actual project.

文摘Two simple and effective control strategies for a multi-axle heavy truck, modified skyhook damping (MSD) control and proportional-integration-derivative (PID) control, were implemented into functional virtual prototype (FVP) model and compared in terms of road friendliness and ride comfort. Both strategies are robust to the variation of road level.

文摘Crimping is used in production of large diameter submerged-arc welding pipes. This method presented provides a new thought used to design technical parameters of crimping forming and makes a basis for improving crimping forming quality.

文摘The functional piezoelectric ceramic smart aggregate(SA) sensors and actuators, based on piezoelectric ceramic materials such as lead zirconium titanate(PZT),were embedded into the reinforced concrete beams with three-point bending under static loading for purposes of damage detection. The SA actuators generated the desired sine sweep excitation signals online and the SA sensors received and detected real-time signals before and after damage. The wavelet analysis and statistical characteristics about damage signals were used as a signal processing and analysis tool to extract the optimal damage information and establish a statistical damage detection algorithm. The damage index-based wavelet analysis and damage probability-based probability and statistics were proposed by PZT wavebased theory and active health monitoring technology. The results showed that the existence of cracks inside largely attenuated the amplitude of active monitoring signal after the damage of beam and the attenuation was related to the severity degree of damage. The innovative statistical algorithm of damage pattern detection based PZT-SA can effectively determine damage probability and damage degree, and provide a prediction for the critical damage location of reinforced concrete structures. The developed method can be utilized for the structural health comprehensive monitoring and damage detection on line of various large-scale concrete structures.
