According to the design specifications, the construction of extended piles involves traversing the tunnel’s upper region and extending to the underlying rock layer. To address this challenge,a subterranean transfer structure spanning multiple subway tunnels was proposed.Deliberating on the function of piles in the transfer structure as springs with axial and bending stiffness, and taking into account the force balance and deformation coordination conditions of beams and plates within the transfer structure,we established a simplified mechanical model that incorporates soil stratification by combining it with the Winkler elastic foundation beam model. The resolved established simplifiedmechanicalmodel employed finite difference technology and the Newton-Simpsonmethod,elucidating the mechanical mechanism of the transfer structure. The research findings suggest that the load carried by the upper structural columns can be transferred to the pile foundation beneath the beams through the transfer structure, subsequently reaching the deep soil layer and ensuring minimal impact on adjacent tunnels. The established simplified analysis method can be used for stress analysis of the transfer structure, concurrently considering soil stratification, pile foundation behavior, and plate action. The pile length, pile section size, and beam section size within the transfer structure should account for the characteristics of the upper load, ensuring an even distribution of the beam bending moment. 展开更多

The seismic behavior of steel reinforced high strength and high performance concrete(SRHC)frame columns was investigated through pseudo-static experiments of 16 frame columns with various shear span ratios, axial compression ratios, concrete strengths, steel ratios and stirrup ratios.Three kinds of failure mechanisms are presented and the characteristics of experimental hysteretic curves and skeleton curves with different design parameters are discussed. The columns’ductility and energy dissipation were quantitatively evaluated based on seismic resistance. The research results indicate that SRHC frame columns can withstand extreme bearing capacity, but the abilities of ductility and energy dissipation are inferior because of SRHC’s natural brittleness. As a result, the axial load ratio should be restricted and some construction measures adopted, such as increasing the stirrup ratio. This research established effect factors on the bearing capacity of SPHC columns. Finally,an algorithm for obtaining ultimate bearing capacity using the flexural failure mode is established based on a modified planesection assumption. The authors also established equations to determine shearing baroclinic failure and shear bond failure based on the accumulation of the axial load force distribution ratio. The calculated results of shear bearing capacity for different failure modes were in good agreement with the experimental results. 展开更多

The fluid viscosity is known to have a significant effect on the hydrodynamic characteristics which are linked to the power conversion ability of the wave energy converter(WEC). To overcome the disadvantages of case-by-case study through the experiments and numerical computations employed by the former researches, the viscous effect is studied comprehensively for multiple geometries in the present paper. The viscous effect is expressed as the viscous added mass and damping solved by the free-decay method. The computational fluid dynamics(CFD) method is employed for the calculation of the motion and flow field around the floater. The diameter to draft ratio and bottom shape are considered for the geometrical evaluation on the viscous effect. The results show that a slenderer floater presents a stronger viscous effect. Through the comparisons of the floaters with four different bottom shapes, the conical bottom is recommended in terms of low viscous effect and simple geometry for manufacture. A viscous correction formula for a series of cylindrical floaters is put forward, for the first time, to help the engineering design of outer-floaters of point-absorber WECs. 展开更多

This study presents the size-dependent nonlinear thermal postbuckling characteristics of a porous functionally graded material(PFGM) microplate with a central cutout with various shapes using isogeometric numerical technique incorporating nonuniform rational B-splines. To construct the proposed non-classical plate model, the nonlocal strain gradient continuum elasticity is adopted on the basis of a hybrid quasithree-dimensional(3D) plate theory under through-thickness deformation conditions by only four variables. By taking a refined power-law function into account in conjunction with the Touloukian scheme, the temperature-porosity-dependent material properties are extracted. With the aid of the assembled isogeometric-based finite element formulations, nonlocal strain gradient thermal postbuckling curves are acquired for various boundary conditions as well as geometrical and material parameters. It is portrayed that for both size dependency types, by going deeper in the thermal postbuckling domain, gaps among equilibrium curves associated with various small scale parameter values get lower, which indicates that the pronounce of size effects reduces by going deeper in the thermal postbuckling regime. Moreover, we observe that the central cutout effect on the temperature rise associated with the thermal postbuckling behavior in the presence of the effect of strain gradient size and absence of nonlocality is stronger compared with the case including nonlocality in absence of the strain gradient small scale effect. 展开更多

The damage evolution in steel reinforced high strength concrete(SRHSC) frame columns was studied based on the test results of cyclic reversed loading experiment of 12 frame column specimens with various axial compression rations, stirrups ratios, steel rations and loading histories. The variation law of the ultimate bearing capacity, ultimate deformation and ultimate hysteretic energy dissipation of specimens under different loading protocols was obtained. The seismic damage characteristics,as well as strength and stiffness degradation,of SRHSC frame columns were analyzed.Based on the analysis of the nonlinear double parameters combination of deformation and energy,a damage model that can well reflect the mechanical characteristics of members subjected to a horizontal earthquake action was established by considering the effects of the number of the loading cycles on the ultimate resistance capacity(ultimate deformation and ultimate energy dissipation capacity) of members, and the loading history on damage, etc.According to the test results, the related parameters of the damage model were proposed. Finally, the damage model proposed was validated by the test results. Results indicated that the proposed damage model is theoretically more reasonable and can accurately describe the seismic damage evolution of the SRHSC frame columns. The results also can be used as a new theoretic reference for the establishment of damage-based earthquake-resistant design method of SRHSC members. 展开更多
