The present study aims to analyze the current state of mobile phone addiction and its impact on sleep quality within the population, while also exploring the influence of related factors on sleep quality. Ultimately, this research will provide a scientific foundation for targeted intervention measures and strategies. Methods: A total of 253 permanent residents in Nanjing were randomly selected as study subjects. The Mobile Phone Addiction Index (MPAI) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were used to evaluate the degree of smartphone addiction and sleep quality of the study subjects. Body mass index (BMI) was measured according to standardized procedures. Independent sample t-test, Chi-square test, rank sum test and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the correlation between mobile phone addiction and sleep quality, and P Results: 117 people (46.2%) were addicted to mobile phones. Chi-square test showed that the rate of mobile phone addiction in drinking group was significantly higher than that in non-drinking group (P P P P P P P P P P Conclusion: Mobile phone addiction may lead to shorter sleep duration and reduce sleep efficiency. The withdrawal of mobile phone addiction may have a negative impact on sleep quality. Objective: The aim of this case-control study was to explore whether five tagging single nucleotide poly- morphisms (tSNPs) within the transforming growth factor-ill (TGF-fll) gene were involved in manifestation ...Objective: The aim of this case-control study was to explore whether five tagging single nucleotide poly- morphisms (tSNPs) within the transforming growth factor-ill (TGF-fll) gene were involved in manifestation of inflammatory and fibrotic processes associated with coal workers pneumoconiosis (CWP). Methods: The study included 508 CWP patients and 526 controls who were underground coal miners from Xuzhou Mining Business Group. Five tSNPs were selected from the HapMap and detected by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method. Results: The single SNP analysis showed that the genotype frequencies of SNP2 (rs1800470, +869T/C, extron 1) and SNP5 (rs11466345, intron 5) in CWP cases were significantly different from those in controls. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that SNP2 (rs1800470) CC genotype was associated with decreased risk of CWP (OR = 0.50, 95% CI = 0.32-0.78), which was evident among subgroups of those never smoke (OR = 0.40, 95%CI = 0.24-0.66), cases with stage Ⅱ(OR = 0.41, 95%CI = 0.22-0.76) and exposure period (〈 28 y: OR = 0.54, 95%CI = 0.31-0.95; ≥ 28 y: OR = 0.52, 95%CI = 0.32-0.96). However, the SNP5 (rs11466345) GG genotype was associated with an increased risk of CWP (OR = 2.5, 95%CI = 1.36-4.57), and further stratification analysis showed that the risk of CWP was increased in both smoking and nonsmoking groups, shorter and longer exposure groups, while the risk of CWP was only increased in patients with stage I and Ⅱ. Conclusion: This study suggests that TGF-β1 polymorphisms may contribute to susceptibility of CWP.展开更多

The aim of the current st...Cigarette smoking is one of the major modifiable and environmental risk factors which can alter the lipid profile that leads to the progression of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases. The aim of the current study is to explore the association of cigarette smoking with Hyperlipidemia in male individuals. A cross-sectional study was carried out from March 2017 to Au-gust 2018 in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, China. A total of 1561 male individuals were enrolled in the study with a mean age (years) of 55.33 ± 14.41. We collected data on demographic, anthropometric and lifestyle indices. Total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TGL), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) were determined by the enzymatic colorimetric method. The mean level of serum TC, TG, and HDL-C were 4.85 ± 0.91, 1.69 ± 1.45 and 1.27 ± 0.32 mmol/L respectively. We found that age, body mass index, pack-years, marital status, annual household income, alcohol consumption, smoking status, education level, and occupational status have significant association with Hyperlipidemia. Adjusted multiple logistic regressions showed that in old age, smoking behavior can significantly increase the risk of Hyperlipidemia. With an increase in pack-years, a significant increase is found only in TC while decreasing trend noticed in HDL-C level. Current smokers showed a significant increase in the risk of Hyperlipidemia compared to those who never smoked while smoking cessation decreases the risk of Hyperlipidemia. This study concluded that cigarette smoking along with increased age and pack-years can significantly increase the risk of Hyperlipidemia that further leads to heart diseases.展开更多

The purpose of this study was to understand the relationship between hearing loss, blood pressure and arterial compliance of female workers who exposed to occupational noise in a textile mill. Methods The noise levels in the workplace were measured with a HS6288 sound level meter. Cumulated noise exposure (CNE) was calculated according to the noise intensity and the exposure period. Hearing ability and arterial compliance were measured in 618 noise exposed workers. The database was set up with EpiData and the statistical analysis was performed with SAS software 9.1.3. Results The noise levels were 80.1dB(A) to 113.5dB(A), of which the levels at 92.5% of the noise monitoring sites were over the national standard. The incidence of high frequency hearing loss (HFHL) was 24.43% and language frequency hearing impairment (LFHI) was 0.81%. The incidence of hypertension was 7.93%. Both systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in the high frequency hearing loss group were significantly higher than those in the normal hearing group (P〈0.05), while C1 (large artery compliance) and C2 (small artery compliance) were significantly lower (P〈0.05). The high frequency hearing threshold (HFHT) of the hypertension group was significantly higher than in the normal blood pressure group (P〈0.05), while C1 and C2 were significantly lower (P〈0.05).C1 and C2 had a negative correlation with HFHT, SBP, DBP, mean of arterial pressure (MAP), pulse pressure (PP) and pulse rate (PR) (P〈0.05). The multiple regression analyses showed that blood pressure and PR were the main influencing factors on C1 and C2. LFHT was an influence on C2 and HFHT on C1. Conclusions Textile mill noise pollution is very serious and has an obvious influence on worker's auditory function. The female workers with low artery compliance or with high blood pressure might be suffering from hearing loss; those with noise induced hearing loss might be suffering from hypertension if she is constantly exposed to loud industrial noise.展开更多
