Resultsshowed that the porosity, the microstructural coefficient, the reactivities of organic C and N, the ΔlogK value, thedegree of oxidation stability, the contents of O-alkyl C and alkyl C, and the ratio of aliphatic C to aromatic C ofhumic acid from soils received organic manure increased, whereas, the ratio of < 10 μm to >10 μm ofmicroaggregates, the humification degree of humus, the degree of organo-mineral complexation, the number-averagemolecular weight, the C/ H ratio. the contents of carboxyl and aromatic C of HAs in them decreased. These resultsindicated that the application of organic manure not only improved the physical property of the paddy soil but alsomade the HA more aliphatic in structure and younger in origin.展开更多

It was identiifed as Burkholderia...Aiming at searching for plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), a bacterium strain coded as 7016 was isolated from soybean rhizosphere and was characterized in the present study. It was identiifed as Burkholderia sp. based on 16S rDNA sequence analysis, as wel as phenotypic and biochemical characterizations. This bacterium presented nitrogenase activity, 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase activity and phosphate solubilizing ability;inhibited the growth of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Gibberel a zeae and Verticil ium dahliae;and produced smal quantities of indole acetic acid (IAA). In green house experiments, signiifcant increases in shoot height and weight, root length and weight, and stem diameter were observed on tomato plants in 30 d after inoculation with strain 7016. Result of 16S rDNA PCR-DGGE showed that 7016 survived in the rhizosphere of tomato seedlings. In the ifeld experiments, Burkholderia sp. 7016 enhanced the tomato yield and signiifcantly promoted activities of soil urease, phosphatase, sucrase, and catalase. Al these results demonstrated Burkholderia sp. 7016 as a valuable PGPR and a candidate of biofertilizer.展开更多

It is mainly produced by adipose cells and acts predominantly in the hypothalamus.In this study, circulating leptin and its gene expression in muscle were evaluated in two groups of young Nellore bulls with divergent feed efficiency. Individual dry matter intake(DMI) and average daily gain(ADG) of 98 Nellore bulls were evaluated in feedlot for 70 d to determinate the residual feed intake(RFI) and select 20 animals for the high feed efficient(LRFI) and 20 for the low feed efficient(HRFI) groups. Blood samples were collected on d 56 and at slaughter(80 d) to determine circulating plasma leptin. Samples of Longissimus dorsi were taken at slaughter for leptin gene expression levels.Results: DMI and RFI were different between groups and LRFI animals showed less back fat and rump fat thickness,as well as less pelvic and kidney fat weight. Circulating leptin increased over time in all animals. Plasma leptin was greater in LRFI on 56 d and at slaughter(P = 0.0049). Gene expression of leptin were greater in LRFI animals(P = 0.0022) in accordance with the plasma levels. The animals of the LRFI group were leaner, ate less, and had more circulating leptin and its gene expression.Conclusion: These findings demonstrated that leptin plays its physiological role in young Nellore bulls, probably controlling food intake because feed efficient animals have more leptin and lower residual feed intake.展开更多
In conventional PET systems,the parallax error degrades image resolution and causes image distortion.To remedy this,a PET ring diameter has to be much larger than the required size of field of view(FOV),and therefore ...In conventional PET systems,the parallax error degrades image resolution and causes image distortion.To remedy this,a PET ring diameter has to be much larger than the required size of field of view(FOV),and therefore the cost goes up.Measurement of depth-of-interaction(DOI)information is effective to reduce the parallax error and improve the image quality.This study is aimed at developing a practical method to incorporate DOI information in PET sinogram generation and image reconstruction processes and evaluate its efficacy through Monte Carlo simulation.An animal PET system with 30-mm long LSO crystals and 2-mm DOI measurement accuracy was simulated and list-mode PET data were collected.A sinogram generation method was proposed to bin each coincidence event to the correct LOR location according to both incident crystal indices and DOI positions of the two annihilation photons.The sinograms were reconstructed with an iterative OSMAPEM(ordered subset maximum a posteriori expectation maximization)algorithm.Two phantoms(a rod source phantom and a Derenzo phantom)were simulated,and the benefits of DOI were investigated in terms of reconstructed source diameter(FWHM)and source positioning accuracy.The results demonstrate that the proposed method works well to incorporate DOI information in data processing,which not only overcomes the image distortion problem but also significantly improves image resolution and resolution uniformity and results in satisfactory image quality.展开更多

However, few works explore the relationship between inflammatory sti...The field of neuroimmunology has expanded in recent years providing new insights and therapies into pathologies like stroke, autism, and depression. However, few works explore the relationship between inflammatory stimuli and motivation. Thus, the aim of this study was to determine how non-painful inflammatory stimuli affect reward. To test reward-response, we used the morphine and the nicotine induced conditioned place-preference and place-aversion model in rats with non-painful inflammation. The following inflammatory models were used: non-painful infectious inflammation: 24 hrs prior to conditioning sessions, an injection with Calmette-Guerin bacillus (CGB) 1 × 107 cfu, ip, was administered. Non-painful non-infectious inflammation: 24 hrs prior to conditioning sessions, rats’ sciatic nerve was blocked and cut, followed by the injection of carrageenan (750 μl) in the paw. We then measured the cytokine concentration to determine the inflammatory profile of each of our models. Finally, we administered ibuprofen to determine if it could prevent the effect of inflammation over conditioned place-preference. We show that carrageenan significantly reduced the morphine-induced reward. Non-painful inflammatory stimulus, CGB and denervation + carrageenan, inhibit the conditioned place-preference to morphine and nicotine, CGB also block conditioned place-aversion to nicotine;carrageenan has no effect on CPA. The administration of ibuprofen reinstates conditioned place-preference to morphine and nicotine in the carrageenan model, but has no effect in the CGB model;finally ibuprofen has no effect on CPA. Our data suggest that non-painful-inflammatory stimuli inhibit the reward system, independent of cytokine concentration. Furthermore, the administration of a PGE 2 inhibitor can importantly modulate this phenomenon.展开更多
In this work, we present results of an investigation of environmental precursors of infectious epidemic of dengue fever in the Metropolitan Area of Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil, obtained by a numerical model with repres...In this work, we present results of an investigation of environmental precursors of infectious epidemic of dengue fever in the Metropolitan Area of Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil, obtained by a numerical model with representation of infection and reinfection of the population. The period considered extend between 2000 and 2011, in which it was possible to pair meteorological data and the reporting of dengue patients worsening. These data should also be considered in the numerical model, by assimilation, to obtain simulations of Dengue epidemics. The model contains compartments for the human population, for the vector Aedes aegypti and four virus serotypes. The results provide consistent evidence that worsening infection and disease outbreaks are due to the occurrence of environmental precursors, as the dynamics of the accumulation of water in the breeding and energy availability in the form of metabolic activation enthalpy during pre-epidemic periods.展开更多

The antioxidant activities of the ethyl acetate fraction and aqueous extract of unripe fruit of Carica papaya were compared and investigated in vitro using thiobarbituric reactive species (TBARS) assay, total phenol...The antioxidant activities of the ethyl acetate fraction and aqueous extract of unripe fruit of Carica papaya were compared and investigated in vitro using thiobarbituric reactive species (TBARS) assay, total phenol content, evaluation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in liver mitochondria, Fe2+ chelating and 2,2-diphenyl-lpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activities. Both extracts had high antioxidant properties and could inhibit FeE+ and sodium nitroprusside lipid peroxidation in the liver. Total phenol content of ethyl acetate fraction and aqueous extract were 4.50 ±2.26 and 1.21±3.12 mg/g, respectively. Both extracts had a maximal effect at the lowest concentrations tested (15 μg/mL for ethyl acetate and 150 μg/mL for the aqueous). Ethyl acetate fraction showed that the highest values of antioxidant activity is probably associated with its high phenolic content, Fe2+ chelating and DPPH scavenging activities. It is therefore concluded that ethyl acetate fraction and to a less extent the aqueous fractions are potent inhibitor of lipid peroxidation.展开更多

Within the study area, lake and land breezes tend to trigger convection and precipitation over LV as well as mountain-valley circulation trigger thunderstorms over the mountains east of LV and western Rift Valley. The statistics of convective systems streaks on longitude-time diagrams were obtained for yearly frequencies of starting and ending longitudes and times among other morphologic variables. Hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection represents an important public health problem worldwide.Reduction of HCV morbidity and mortality is a current challenge owned to several viral and host factors.Virus molecular evolution...Hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection represents an important public health problem worldwide.Reduction of HCV morbidity and mortality is a current challenge owned to several viral and host factors.Virus molecular evolution plays an important role in HCV transmission,disease progression and therapy outcome.The high degree of genetic heterogeneity characteristic of HCV is a key element for the rapid adaptation of the intrahost viral population to different selection pressures(e.g.,host immune responses and antiviral therapy).HCV molecular evolution is shaped by different mechanisms including a high mutation rate,genetic bottlenecks,genetic drift,recombination,temporal variations and compartmentalization.These evolutionary processes constantly rearrange the composition of the HCV intrahost population in a staging manner.Remarkable advances in the understanding of the molecular mechanism controlling HCV replication have facilitated the development of a plethora of direct-acting antiviral agents against HCV.As a result,superior sustained viral responses have been attained.The rapidly evolving field of anti-HCV therapy is expected to broad its landscape even further with newer,more potent antivirals,bringing us one step closer to the interferon-free era.展开更多

The animals of the LRFI group were leaner, ate less, and had more circulating leptin and its gene expression.Conclusion: These findings demonstrated that leptin plays its physiological role in young Nellore bulls, probably controlling food intake because feed efficient animals have more leptin and lower residual feed intake.

文摘In conventional PET systems,the parallax error degrades image resolution and causes image distortion.To remedy this,a PET ring diameter has to be much larger than the required size of field of view(FOV),and therefore the cost goes up.Measurement of depth-of-interaction(DOI)information is effective to reduce the parallax error and improve the image quality.This study is aimed at developing a practical method to incorporate DOI information in PET sinogram generation and image reconstruction processes and evaluate its efficacy through Monte Carlo simulation.An animal PET system with 30-mm long LSO crystals and 2-mm DOI measurement accuracy was simulated and list-mode PET data were collected.A sinogram generation method was proposed to bin each coincidence event to the correct LOR location according to both incident crystal indices and DOI positions of the two annihilation photons.The sinograms were reconstructed with an iterative OSMAPEM(ordered subset maximum a posteriori expectation maximization)algorithm.Two phantoms(a rod source phantom and a Derenzo phantom)were simulated,and the benefits of DOI were investigated in terms of reconstructed source diameter(FWHM)and source positioning accuracy.The results demonstrate that the proposed method works well to incorporate DOI information in data processing,which not only overcomes the image distortion problem but also significantly improves image resolution and resolution uniformity and results in satisfactory image quality.
文摘Slag carry-over during the draining of molten steel from a teeming ladle is numerically studied here. Two-phase isothermal transient 3D Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations were employed to simulate the draining process. Two nozzle diameters, two nozzle positions and three slag heights were considered. From mass balances, the slag carry-over in terms of mass flow rate was obtained for each of the above variables. Besides, the draining times of the teeming ladle were estimated from theoretical considerations and CDF simulations, and compared.
文摘The field of neuroimmunology has expanded in recent years providing new insights and therapies into pathologies like stroke, autism, and depression. However, few works explore the relationship between inflammatory stimuli and motivation. Thus, the aim of this study was to determine how non-painful inflammatory stimuli affect reward. To test reward-response, we used the morphine and the nicotine induced conditioned place-preference and place-aversion model in rats with non-painful inflammation. The following inflammatory models were used: non-painful infectious inflammation: 24 hrs prior to conditioning sessions, an injection with Calmette-Guerin bacillus (CGB) 1 × 107 cfu, ip, was administered. Non-painful non-infectious inflammation: 24 hrs prior to conditioning sessions, rats’ sciatic nerve was blocked and cut, followed by the injection of carrageenan (750 μl) in the paw. We then measured the cytokine concentration to determine the inflammatory profile of each of our models. Finally, we administered ibuprofen to determine if it could prevent the effect of inflammation over conditioned place-preference. We show that carrageenan significantly reduced the morphine-induced reward. Non-painful inflammatory stimulus, CGB and denervation + carrageenan, inhibit the conditioned place-preference to morphine and nicotine, CGB also block conditioned place-aversion to nicotine;carrageenan has no effect on CPA. The administration of ibuprofen reinstates conditioned place-preference to morphine and nicotine in the carrageenan model, but has no effect in the CGB model;finally ibuprofen has no effect on CPA. Our data suggest that non-painful-inflammatory stimuli inhibit the reward system, independent of cytokine concentration. Furthermore, the administration of a PGE 2 inhibitor can importantly modulate this phenomenon.
文摘In this work, we present results of an investigation of environmental precursors of infectious epidemic of dengue fever in the Metropolitan Area of Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil, obtained by a numerical model with representation of infection and reinfection of the population. The period considered extend between 2000 and 2011, in which it was possible to pair meteorological data and the reporting of dengue patients worsening. These data should also be considered in the numerical model, by assimilation, to obtain simulations of Dengue epidemics. The model contains compartments for the human population, for the vector Aedes aegypti and four virus serotypes. The results provide consistent evidence that worsening infection and disease outbreaks are due to the occurrence of environmental precursors, as the dynamics of the accumulation of water in the breeding and energy availability in the form of metabolic activation enthalpy during pre-epidemic periods.

文摘The antioxidant activities of the ethyl acetate fraction and aqueous extract of unripe fruit of Carica papaya were compared and investigated in vitro using thiobarbituric reactive species (TBARS) assay, total phenol content, evaluation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in liver mitochondria, Fe2+ chelating and 2,2-diphenyl-lpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activities. Both extracts had high antioxidant properties and could inhibit FeE+ and sodium nitroprusside lipid peroxidation in the liver. Total phenol content of ethyl acetate fraction and aqueous extract were 4.50 ±2.26 and 1.21±3.12 mg/g, respectively. Both extracts had a maximal effect at the lowest concentrations tested (15 μg/mL for ethyl acetate and 150 μg/mL for the aqueous). Ethyl acetate fraction showed that the highest values of antioxidant activity is probably associated with its high phenolic content, Fe2+ chelating and DPPH scavenging activities. It is therefore concluded that ethyl acetate fraction and to a less extent the aqueous fractions are potent inhibitor of lipid peroxidation.

The analysis included 33,189 episodes of westward propagating convective systems. Within the study area, lake and land breezes tend to trigger convection and precipitation over LV as well as mountain-valley circulation trigger thunderstorms over the mountains east of LV and western Rift Valley. The statistics of convective systems streaks on longitude-time diagrams were obtained for yearly frequencies of starting and ending longitudes and times among other morphologic variables. 文摘Hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection represents an important public health problem worldwide.Reduction of HCV morbidity and mortality is a current challenge owned to several viral and host factors.Virus molecular evolution plays an important role in HCV transmission,disease progression and therapy outcome.The high degree of genetic heterogeneity characteristic of HCV is a key element for the rapid adaptation of the intrahost viral population to different selection pressures(e.g.,host immune responses and antiviral therapy).HCV molecular evolution is shaped by different mechanisms including a high mutation rate,genetic bottlenecks,genetic drift,recombination,temporal variations and compartmentalization.These evolutionary processes constantly rearrange the composition of the HCV intrahost population in a staging manner.Remarkable advances in the understanding of the molecular mechanism controlling HCV replication have facilitated the development of a plethora of direct-acting antiviral agents against HCV.As a result,superior sustained viral responses have been attained.The rapidly evolving field of anti-HCV therapy is expected to broad its landscape even further with newer,more potent antivirals,bringing us one step closer to the interferon-free era.
