From the beginning of the 1970s until today, seven forest resource inventories have been carried out. This research summarizes the progress of forest continuous inventories and analyzes the existing deficiencies ofChina’s forest continuous inventory system and forest management plan inventory. As stated above, this research offers corresponding countermeasures and suggestions: establishing a sample plot system for comprehensive national forest inventory and monitoring with each province’s continuous forest inventory based on the foundation of the national sample plot system, able to develop the province as a subset of the overall province-level forest resource inventory according to the actual conditions in each province. Through annual multi-resource/multi-benefit surveying of the forests, the monitoring of forest amounts, quality, functions and benefits will be assisted in its entirety. The further integration of the forest continuous inventory and the forest management plan inventory is also discussed. This research also proposes the varied probability sampling method with sub-compartments as the basic sampling unit (or combinations of sub-compartments). This will also satisfy the requirements of ecological inventory by region.展开更多

The germination of P. tatarinowii seeds was delayed in the presence of NaCl, and was significantly inhibited when NaCl concentration exceeded 17 mM (1.0 g·L^-1). NaCl treatments induced reductions of transpiration rate, stomatal conductance and net photosynthetic rate and their reductions were significant with the increasing of NaCl concentration. However, intercellular CO2 concentration in seedling leaves under salt stress was significantly higher than that of controls. There was a significant reduction in survival, basal diameter increment and height increment witl increasing NaCl concentration 50 days after NaCl treatment, and a significant reduction in the dry weight increment of roots, stems, and leaves was also observed in the NaCl treatments. The deleterious effect on the biomass increment was more evident in the case of stems and leaves. Results from this study suggest that P. tatarinowii is sensitive to salinity stress and the salinity threshold for seedling growth might be less 34 mM (2.0 g· L^-1).展开更多

From July 2003 to June 2004, the total atmospheric N deposition was 70.7 kg N ha-1, with dry deposition accounting for 75% of the total deposition. Dry NH3 deposition accounted for 73% of the dry deposition and 55% of the total deposition. Moreover, NO2 contributed 11% of the dry deposition and 8% of the total deposition. Reduced N compounds (NH4+ and NH3) were the predominate contributors, accounting for 66% of the total deposition. Therefore, atmospheric N deposition should be considered when soil acidification and critical loads of atmospheric deposition on soils are estimated.展开更多

Overcoming seed dormancy is an important component of efficient and cost-effective seedling production of Cyclocarya paliurus. Changes in biochemical composition and enzyme activity were investigated during dormancy release. The activities of all the studied enzymes in the stratified seeds increased significantly, compared to those in the control samples. Of the enzymes examined, the activities of protease increased the most (413.8%), followed by peroxidase (278.7%), lipase (161.0%), glucose-6-phosphate dehydrognase (149.1%) and amylase (60.6%) after 8 months of stratification. Crude fat and protein constituted the bulk of the storage reserves in mature seeds of C. pal# urus. Compared with the seeds before stratification, about 45% of the starch, 46% of the protein and 11% of the crude fat were depleted during dormancy release of C. paliurus seeds, while the soluble sugar content was enhanced by 101.5% in the germinating seeds. Correlation analysis showed, during dormancy release of C. paliurus seeds, a close positive relationship between POD and G6PDH activity as well as soluble sugar content and amylase activity, while there was a significant negative relationship between storage substances and their related enzyme activities.展开更多

In this paper, the allergic proteins were identified with Western blotting, and the 32 kDa glycoprotein was purified with ion exchange chromatography and gel chromatography. With Western blotting, there were 3 allergic proteins with molecular weight 21, 32, and 36 kDa. With SDS-PAGE analysis and measurements of the protein and sugar contents, the isolation and purification technology of 32 kDa was confirmed. Ginkgo crude protein extract was precipitated with ammonium sulphate (saturation gradient: 40-80%). The precipitate was purified by chromatography with DEAE-cellulose 52, then chromatography with Sephadex G-200 and the target glycoprotein was finally obtained. The analysis results showed the molecule of the glycoprotein was 32.12 kDa and the ratio of protein to sugar was 20.56:1. In conclusion, the purification method could be used in preparation of the glycoprotein, and the study could provide a basis for the further research of the glycoprotein.展开更多

These TF families contain highly conserved MYB repeats(1 R, R2 R3, 3 R and 4 R) at the N-terminus. Roles for MYB TFs have been reported in response to such stresses as dehydration, salt, cold, and drought. The characterization of Masson pine(Pinus massoniana) MYB TFs are reported, including the analysis of MYB TFs expression in seedlings under controlled conditions and two different phosphate(Pi) deficient treatments. By searching for conserved MYB motifs in full transcriptomic RNA sequencing data for P. massoniana, 59 sequences were identified as MYB TFs. Conserved domainstructures and comparative functional and phylogenetic relationships of these MYB TFs with those in Arabidopsis were assessed using various bioinformatics tools. Based on microarray analysis, P. massoniana MYB genes exhibited different expression patterns under the two Pi deficiency conditions. Genes encoding MYB TFs that showed increased expression under critical Pi deficiency were identified, and some MYBs were differentially expressed only under conditions of severe Pi starvation. These results are useful for the functional characterization of MYB TFs that may be involved in the response to Pi deficiency and play divergent roles in plants.展开更多

Both Tp and CTMax were highest in P. versicolor and lowest in P. vlangalii, with P. guinanensis in between. The two viviparous species did not differ in CTMin and thermal tolerance range, and they both were more resistant to low temperatures and had a wider range of thermal tolerance than the oviparous species. Both CTMin and CTMax shifted upward as acclimation temperature increased in all the three species. Tp was higher in the lizards acclimated to 33 ℃ than in those to 28 ℃ or 38 ℃. The range of thermal tolerance was wider in the lizards acclimated to 28 ℃ than in those to 33 ℃ or 38 ℃. The data showed that: 1) thermal preference and tolerance were affected by acclimation temperature, and differed among the three species of Phrynocephalus lizards with different body sizes and habitat uses; 2) both Tp and CTMax were higher in the species exchanging heat more rapidly with the environment, and CTMin was higher in the species using warmer habitats during the active season; and 3) thermal preference and tolerance might correlat with body size and habitat use in Phrynocephalus lizards.展开更多

We combined data from this study with those reported previously for P. frontalis and P. versicolor to examine whether embryonic stage at laying is a causal factor for interspecific variation in incubation length, and whether the phylogenetic relationship inferred from hatchling morphology is consistent with the relationship based on mitochondrial DNA data. Mean values for incubation length differed among the five species studied herein and, in all these five species, incubation length decreased at a decreasing rate as temperature increased. In none of the five species did hatchling size (snout-vent length and body mass) and other morphological variables differ among the three temperature treatments. The seven oviparous Phrynocephalus lizards found in China differ from each other in hatchling morphology, and embryonic stage at laying is a causal factor of inter- and intra-specific variation in incubation length. The phylogenetic relationship inferred from hatchling morphology is not always consistent with the currently known relationship based on mitochondrial DNA data. Data from this study and those reported previously allow the conclusion that any Phrynocephalus species may have its unique position along the axis defined by hatchling morphology.展开更多

The results demonstrated that matrine and oxymatrine had strong inhibitory activities to the conidium germination of the tested fungi. The ECso values of matrine for inhibiting the conidium germination of Marssonina brunnea, Cladosporium oxysporum, Sphaeropsis sapinea were 123μg·mL^-1, 272 μg·mL^-1, 1133 μg·mL^-1, respectively, and the EC50 values of oxymatrine for inhibiting the conidium germination of Fusarium oxysporum, Sphaeropsis sapinea were 532μg·mL^-1, 601μg·mL^-1, respectively. The hyphal growth of the fungi was also significantly inhibited by matrine and oxymatrine. The ECs0 values of matrine inhibiting the conidium germination of Sphaeropsis sapinea, Valsa pini, Fusarium oxysporum were 428μg·mL^-1, 535 μg·mL^-1, 592 μg·mL^-1, respectively. The EC50 values of oxymatrine inhibiting the conidium germination of Valsa pini, Fusarium oxysporum were 323, 618μg·mL^-1, respectively. In the synergetic tests the ECs0 values of the mixtures of thiophanate methyl (or chlorthalonil) and matrine (or oxymatrine) were lower than 34 μg·mL^-1 while their co-toxicity coefficients were significantly higher than 1130 It indicated that the mixture of the alkaloids and the chemical had potential practical utilization in controlling certain forest fungal diseases.展开更多

Specifically, the spatial patterns of forest fragmentation were characterized by combining geospatial metrics and forest fragmentation models. The driving forces resulting in the differences of the forest spatial patterns were also investigated. Results suggested that forests in southwest China had the highest severity of forest fragmentation, followed by south region and northeast region. The driving forces of forest fragmentation in China were primarily the giant population and improper exploitation of forests. In conclusion, the generated information in the study provided valuable insights and implications as to the fragmentation patterns and the conservation of hiodiversity or genes, and the use of the chosen geospatial metrics and forest fragmentation models was quite useful for depicting forest fragmentation patterns.展开更多

The method is a "soil-type method" based on revised calculation indexes for SOC storage. In the present study, the organic carbon contents of different soil types varied greatly, but generally decreased with increasing soil depth. The organic carbon content decreased nearly linearly to a depth of 0–50 cm and then varied at depths of 50–100 cm. Because of the large spatial variability in the karst area, we were able to determine that influences of the different indexes on the estimation of SOC storage decreased as follows: soil thickness > boulder content > rock fragment content > SOC content > bulk density. Using the modified formula, the SOC content in the Houzhai watershed in Puding was estimated to range from 3.53 to 5.44 kg m^(-2), with an average value of 1.24 kg m^(-2) to a depth of 20 cm, and from 4.44 to 14.50 kg m^(-2), with an average value of 12.12 kg m^(-2) to a depth of 100 cm. The total SOC content was estimated at 5.39*10^(5) t.展开更多

Meanwhile, the free radicals restraining activities were detected. The 21 compounds in M. insignis, 36 compounds in M. chigii and 20 compounds in M. yuyuanensis were identified. There were 11 common components in the extracts from three Manglietia species, and 12 components in two Manglietia species. The results of relative contents of every component in three extracts showed that the main constituents of M. insignis were terpenoids and alkene, amounting to 38.93%, followed by alkane (28.18%), the nitrogen containing compounds (15.73%) and aromatic compounds (7.23 %). The main constituents of leaf extract from M. chingii were the terpenoids and alkene, carboxylic acid, alkane and aromatic compounds, amounting to 30.22%, 14.17%, 13.87% and 13.29%, respectively, The main constituents of M. yuyuanensis were alcohol compounds, the terpenoids and alkene, and aromatic compounds, amounting to 28.00%, 25.38% and 18.00% respectively. The results showed that the three extracts had strong function of restraining oxygen free radicals. The ultra oxygen anions activity was restrained at the highest level, when the three extracts were diluted by hundred-fold, whereas the restraining capacity of hydroxyl free radicals reached maximum, when the three extracts were diluted by twenty-fold. The above results provide scientific evidences for further approaching the ecological healthy function of three MangUetia species展开更多

文摘China was one of the earliest countries to set up a system to continuously inventory natural forest resources. 文摘Studying the dynamics of plant populations is crucial to the conservation and management of endangered plants. The diameter at breast height(DBH),tree height, crown width, and environmental factors of a total of 15 plots in five populations in Guizhou Province,China were measured in this study. The method of substituting diameter at breast height for age was used to divide the population into 7 age classes. The age structure, static life table, and relationship between the population characteristics and environmental factors of the Litsea coreana Levl.var.sinensis population were studied. Moreover, the time series model was used to predict the population dynamics. Results showed that the age structure of population in Zhengan County(Population ZA)had an inverted Jshape with abundant seedlings and insufficient middle-aged and elderly individuals. The age structures of populations in Daozhen County(Population DZ),Kaiyang County(KY),Meitan County(Population MT),and Xishui County(Population XS)were spindle-shaped with few young individuals and many middle-aged and elderly individuals. The mortality rate of each population fluctuated with the increase in age class, and the populations were extremely unstable. The survival curve was close to the Deevey III type, and the degree of deviation was related to the lack of young individuals. After the age stages II,IV,and VI,the number of aged plants in the different populations initially increased then decreased, and population stability was difficult to maintain.Redundancy analysis showed that the DBH,tree height and crown width of the population decreased with the increase of annual mean temperature, and the population density was restricted by soil nutrient conditions to a certain extent. The results of this work provide scientific basis for the conservation and sustainable utilization of natural populations of L.coreana var.sinensis in Guizhou Province,China.

文摘Phloem is the woody tissue for the storage and long-distance transport of organic matter in vascular bundles. To reveal the process of secondary phloem development and differentiation in Pinus massoniana, the structure of the secondary phloem and the distribution of cell inclusions were observed by histochemical staining, spontaneous fluorescence of phenolic substances and cell segregation.Based on tissue development and differentiation characteristics of P.massoniana secondary phloem, the secondary phloem development was divided into seven stages:the functional phloem stage;the sieve cell lignification stage;the phloem ray bending stage;the parenchyma cell dedifferentiation and division stage;the dedifferentiated parenchyma cell population formation stage;the periderm alteration stage, and the rhytidome stage. An analysis of cell morphology and inclusion distribution characteristics showed that the sieve cells were deformed during lignification, the quantities of parenchyma and resin ducts increased with development and the crystal content in cells,as well as the levels of sugars and lipids in phloem parenchyma cells, increased with development. The results indicate that the P.massoniana phloem first lost longitudinal transport function and then increased its secretory, storage and mechanical functions.Ultimately, the parenchyma differentiated into the cortex and periderm, and the tissue outside the new periderm lignified to form the rhytidome, which fully developed into the protective tissue of the stem.

文摘The exotic saltmarsh cordgrass,Spartina alterniflora(Loisel)Peterson&Saarela,is one of the important causes for the extensive destruction of mangroves in China due to its invasive nature. The species has rapidly spread wildly across coastal wetlands, challenging resource managers for control of its further spread. An investigation of S.alterniflora invasion and associated ecological risk is urgent in China's coastal wetlands. In this study,an ecological risk invasive index system was developed based on the Driving Force-Pressure-State-Impact-Response framework.Predictions were made of'warning degrees':zero warning and light, moderate, strong, and extreme warning,by developing a back propagation(BP)artificial neural network model for coastal wetlands in eastern Fujian Province. Our results suggest that S.alterniflora mainly has invaded Kandelia candel beaches and farmlands with clustered distributions. An early warning indicator system assessed the ecological risk of the invasion and showed a ladder-like distribution from high to low extending from the urban area in the central inland region with changes spread to adjacent areas.Areas of light warning and extreme warning accounted for43%and 7%,respectively,suggesting the BP neural network model is reliable prediction of the ecological risk of S.alterniflora invasion. The model predicts that distribution pattern of this invasive species will change little in the next 10 years. However, the invaded patches will become relatively more concentrated without warning predicted. We suggest that human factors such as land use activities may partially determine changes in warning degree. Our results emphasize that an early warning system for S.alterniflora invasion in China's eastern coastal wetlands is significant, and comprehensive control measures are needed, particularly for K.candel beach.

文摘Effects of NaCI on seed germination, leaf gas exchange and seedling growth were investigated. Results from this study suggest that P. tatarinowii is sensitive to salinity stress and the salinity threshold for seedling growth might be less 34 mM (2.0 g· L^-1).

文摘A one-year study in a typical red soil region of southern China was conducted to determine atmospheric nitrogen (N) fluxes of typical N compounds (NH3, NH4-N, NO3-N, and NO2) and contribution of three sources (gas, rainwater, and particles) to N deposition. Therefore, atmospheric N deposition should be considered when soil acidification and critical loads of atmospheric deposition on soils are estimated.

文摘Cyclocarya paliurus is only propagated from seeds which have pronounced dormancy. Correlation analysis showed, during dormancy release of C. paliurus seeds, a close positive relationship between POD and G6PDH activity as well as soluble sugar content and amylase activity, while there was a significant negative relationship between storage substances and their related enzyme activities.

文摘Glycoprotein from Ginkgo biloba kernel may be allergic. In conclusion, the purification method could be used in preparation of the glycoprotein, and the study could provide a basis for the further research of the glycoprotein.

文摘Myeloblastosis(MYB) proteins constitute one of the largest transcription factor(TF) families in plants and play crucial roles in regulating plant physiological and biochemical processes, including adaptation to diverse abiotic stresses. These results are useful for the functional characterization of MYB TFs that may be involved in the response to Pi deficiency and play divergent roles in plants.

文摘We acclimated adults of two viviparous (Phrynocephalus guinanens& and P. vlangalii) and one oviparous (P. versicolor) species of toad-headed lizards (Agamidae) to 28 ℃, 33 ℃ and 38 ℃ to examine whether thermal preference (preferred body temperature, Tp) and thermal tolerance (critical thermal minimum, CTMin; critical thermal maximum, CTMax) were affected by acclimation temperature, and correlate with body size and habitat use. The data showed that: 1) thermal preference and tolerance were affected by acclimation temperature, and differed among the three species of Phrynocephalus lizards with different body sizes and habitat uses; 2) both Tp and CTMax were higher in the species exchanging heat more rapidly with the environment, and CTMin was higher in the species using warmer habitats during the active season; and 3) thermal preference and tolerance might correlat with body size and habitat use in Phrynocephalus lizards.

文摘We incubated eggs of five Phrynocephalus species (P. albolineatus, P. axillaries, P. grumgrzimailoi, P. helioscopus and P. przewalskii) at three constant temperatures (24℃, 28℃ and 32℃) to examine differences in incubation length and hatchling morphology among species and among temperature treatments. Data from this study and those reported previously allow the conclusion that any Phrynocephalus species may have its unique position along the axis defined by hatchling morphology.

文摘The EC50 values of matrine and oxymatrine against five forest pathogenic fungi (Fusarium oxysporum, Valsa pini, Cladosporium oxysporum, Sphaeropsis sapinea, Marssonina brunnea) were examined by bioassay methods. In the synergetic tests the ECs0 values of the mixtures of thiophanate methyl (or chlorthalonil) and matrine (or oxymatrine) were lower than 34 μg·mL^-1 while their co-toxicity coefficients were significantly higher than 1130 It indicated that the mixture of the alkaloids and the chemical had potential practical utilization in controlling certain forest fungal diseases.

文摘Members of the WUSCHEL-related homeobox(WOX)transcription factor family are essential for determining cell fate and regulating diverse developmental processes in plants. Many WOX genes have been systematically investigated in woody plants such as Populus trichocarpa, but not in Salix suchowensis.Whole-genome sequence data for S.suchowensis is now available for comprehensive study of WOX genes in S.suchowensis.We thus surveyed the genome of S.suchowensis and demonstrated active expression of 15 WOX genes. In a phylogenetic analysis of WOX genes, the 15 SsWOX genes clustered among the modern/WUS,intermediate and ancient clades similar to the WOX genes of Arabidopsis thaliana.Based on the conserved intron/exon structure,SsWOX genes in the same subgroup had similar conserved exon–intron structures and motif domains.Furthermore, among several SsWOX subgroups,WUS(Wuschel)-box and EAR(the ERF-associated amphiphilic repression)-like motifs were conserved.Expression profiles of WOX genes in roots, stems and leaves indicate that SsWOX genes have various conserved roles in the tissues.Comparative analysis of the expression patterns in Salix suchowensis with that of Arabidopsis suggests that different shoot regeneration abilities are controlled by different WOX genes in plants. The analysis provide an overview of differentially expressed SsWOX genes during shoot regeneration, but also contribute to understanding the evolution of WOX genes in Salicaceae and the interrelations of WOX genes and other transcription factors, providing targets for further study.

文摘Geospatial patterns of forest fragmentation over the three traditional giant forested areas of China (Northeastern, southwestern and Southern China) were analyzed comparatively and reported based on a 250-m resolution land cover dataset. In conclusion, the generated information in the study provided valuable insights and implications as to the fragmentation patterns and the conservation of hiodiversity or genes, and the use of the chosen geospatial metrics and forest fragmentation models was quite useful for depicting forest fragmentation patterns.

文摘With few available soil organic carbon(SOC)profiles and the heterogeneity of those that do exist, the estimation of SOC pools in karst areas is highly uncertain.Based on the spatial heterogeneity of SOC content of 23,536 samples in a karst watershed, a modified estimation method was determined for SOC storage that exclusively applies to karst areas. The total SOC content was estimated at 5.39*10^(5) t.

文摘The extracts from leaves of Manglietia insignis (Wall) Blume, Manglietia chingii Dandy and Manglietia yuyuanensis Law were prepared by organic solvent extraction and their components were analyzed by GC/MS and quantified. The above results provide scientific evidences for further approaching the ecological healthy function of three MangUetia species

文摘Background: Different functional frugivores generally exhibit unequal contributions, both in terms of quantity(seed removal) and quality(seedling recruitment),to effective seed dispersal of plant species. However, variations in this dispersal pattern generated by frugivores across different regions are still unknown. Methods: In our study,we evaluated the contributions of two functional frugivore bird groups, the bulbuls(Pycnon?otidae) and crows(Corvidae),in both the seed removal and seedling recruitment of the endangered Chinese yew tree(Taxus chinensis) across three different geographical regions in eastern China. Results: The dominant crow species,Urocissa erythrorhyncha, was the most common disperser crow species at all sites, while the dominant bulbul species varied across the three sites.Furthermore, the two functional groups of dispersers diverged in the aspects of seed removal(quantity) and seedling recruitment pattern(quality). While bulbuls outperformed crows in seed removal(quantity),crows took more seeds to a safer site for seedlings(quality). Conclusions: Our results highlight the importance of variations in the effective seed dispersal patterns of different functional disperser groups across different regions in the conservation and management of endangered tree species.
