The lattice parameters of the grown crystal have been determined by X-ray diffraction studies. Vibrational spectrum is recorded to determine symmetries of molecular vibrations. Optical absorbance spectrum recorded revealed that this crystal has good transparency in the visible region. The second harmonic generation test of BTNB confirmed the nonlinear nature of the crystal. The BTNB crystal was analyzed by a differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetric analysis (DTA-TGA) to obtain its thermal stability. Vickers microhardness test done on the crystal shows that the crystal has greater physical strength.展开更多

Much research work has been carried out in recent years on the beneficial effect of phenolic compounds which act as natural antioxidants and help to neutralize free radicals. So, this study was aimed to evaluate the in vitro antioxidant capacity of one of the phenolic compounds phloretin. Phloretin was used at four different concentrations like 20, 40, 60 and 80 μg/ml to determine the antioxidant activity by different methods such as total antioxidant capacity, reducing power, DPPH radical scavenging, superoxide anion radical scavenging and metal chelating assays. In addition to that the ascorbic acid was used as reference compound. The results showed that the phloretin displayed potent in vitro antioxidant capacity. It was able to scavenge different in vitro free radicals in all tested concentrations. Among the different concentrations, 80 μg of phloretin has maximum activity when compared to other concentrations in all in vitro antioxidant assays. High antioxidant property and maximum protective effect of phloretin were observed in a concentration dependent manner. The results were expressed as IC50 value. The lowest IC50 value indicates the highest scavenging activity. The reducing power of the phloretin was also found in concentration dependent. According to the results of this study, we concluded that the phloretin possesses antioxidant property. Therefore, phloretin is a powerful antioxidant phytocompound which can protect biological systems against the oxidative stress. From this study, we suggest that the phloretin may be used as a dietary natural antioxidant supplement for preventing free radical related diseases.展开更多

The geometry structure optimization, frequencies (IR), NMR, electronic character, frontier molecular orbital (HOMO-LUMO) and first static hyperpolarizability (βtot) studies of reported compounds were calculated using DFT with B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) level of theory. The calculated HOMO and LUMO energies showed that charge transfer occurs within the molecule and from the MEP, the molecular stability and bond strength have been explained. In addition to that influence of energy gap (?Egap) between the HOMO-LUMO orbitals on the first static hyperpolarizability (βtot), we calculated the ?Egap for all the salen compounds. In addition to that influence of energy gap (?Egap) between the HOMO-LUMO orbitals on the first static hyperpolarizability (βtot), we calculated the ?Egap for all the salen compounds. These results reveals that the smaller HOMO-LUMO ?Egap is, larger the βtot is.
文摘In this paper,a mathematical model is developed to study the wave propagation in an infinite, homogeneous, transversely isotropic thermo-piezoelectric solid bar of circular cross-sections immersed in inviscid fluid. The present study is based on the use of the three-dimensional theory of elasticity.Three displacement potential functions are introduced to uncouple the equations of motion and the heat and electric conductions. The frequency equations are obtained for longitudinal and flexural modes of vibration and are studied based on Lord-Shulman,Green-Lindsay and Classical theory theories of thermo elasticity. The frequency equations of the coupled system consisting of cylinder and fluid are developed under the assumption of perfectslip boundary conditions at the fluid-solid interfaces, which are obtained for longitudinal and flexural modes of vibration and are studied numerically for PZT-4 material bar immersed in fluid. The computed non-dimensional frequencies are compared with Lord-Shulman,Green-Lindsay and Classical theory theories of thermo elasticity for longitudinal and flexural modes of vibrations. The dispersion curves are drawn for longitudinal and flexural modes of vibrations. Moreover, the dispersion of specific loss and damping factors are also analyzed for longitudinal and flexural modes of vibrations.

文摘Objective:To evaluate the antibacterial activity of zinc oxide nanoparticles synthesized using phycobilins of Anabaena variabilis NTSS17.Methods:The cyanobacterial isolate was collected from paddy field and morphologically identified as Anabaena variabilis NTSS17,that produces a pigment i.e.phycobiliproteins.The biosynthesized zinc nanoparticles were characterized by different spectroscopic and analytical techniques such as UV-visible spectrophotometer,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction which confirmed the formation of zinc nanoparticles. Results:Antibacterial activity of zinc oxide nanoparticles was examined against Escherichia coli,Rhodococcus rhodochrous and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The maximum zone of inhibition occurred at 5 mg/1000 mL concentration of zinc oxide nanoparticles. Conclusions:Due to potent antimicrobial and intrinsic properties of zinc oxide,it can be actively used for biomedical applications.
文摘Objective:To determine the phytochemical and larvicidal activity of Tragia involucrata(T.involucrata)leaf extracts against fourth instar larvae of Ae.aegypti.Methods:Phytochemical analysis of hexane leaf extract was performed and larvicidal activity was determined against Ae.aegypti at concentrations of 50,100,150,200 and 250 mg/L.Larval mortality was assessed after 24 h.Results:The hexane extracts of T.involucrata was found to be higher mortality against the larvae of Ae.aegypti with a LC_(50) value of 153.51 mg/L.Conclusions:These results suggested that the leaf extracts of T.involucrata showed potential to be used as an ideal ecofriendly approach for the control of the Ae.aegypti.
