A robust model predictive control algorithm for discrete linear systems with both state and input delays subjected to constrained input control is presented, where the polytopic uncertainties exist in both state matrices and input matrices. The algorithm optimizes an upper bound with respect to a state feedback control law. The feedback control law is presented based on the construction of a parameter-dependent Lyapunov function. The above optimization problem can be formulated as a LMI-based optimization. The feasibility of the optimization problem guarantees that the algorithm is robustly stable. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. 展开更多

The exponential passive filtering problem for a class of nonlinear Markov jump systems with uncertainties and time-delays is studied. The uncertain parameters are assumed unknown but norm bounded, and the nonlinearities satisfy the quadratic condition. Based on the passive filtering theory, the sufficient condition for the existence of the mode-dependent passive filter is given by analyzing the reconstructed observer system. By using the appropriate Lyapnnov-Krasovskii function and applying linear matrix inequalities, the design scheme of the passive filter is derived and described as an optimization one. The presented exponential passive filter makes the error dynamic systems exponentially stochastically stable for all the admissible uncertainties, time-delays and nonlinearities, has the better abilities of state tracking and satisfies the given passive norm index. Simulation results demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach. 展开更多

If we know the exact network delays, we can compensate for their effect by modifying the parameters of the controller. Hence how to get the knowledge of these delays in the network is critical. This paper analyzed the different characteristics of network delays from sensor to controller and from controller to actuator and presented the methods of online evaluation of these delays. The results show that these controllers have similar characteristics about the process input limitation. And then, a simple and effective anti-windup scheme, without an additional parameter, is designed for these controllers. The high frequency gain matrix of the linear part of the system is not necessarily positive definite, but can be transformed into a lower or upper triangular matrix whose signs of diagonal dements are unknown. The new required condition for the high fi'equency gain matrix can be easily checked for certain plants so that the proposed method is widely applicable. The global stability of the closed loop systems is guaranteed through this control scheme, at the same time the tracking error converges to zero. 展开更多

A modified bottleneck-based (MB) heuristic for large-scale job-shop scheduling problems with a welldefined bottleneck is suggested, which is simpler but more tailored than the shifting bottleneck (SB) procedure. In this algorithm, the bottleneck is first scheduled optimally while the non-bottleneck machines are subordinated around the solutions of the bottleneck schedule by some effective dispatching rules. Computational results indicate that the MB heuristic can achieve a better tradeoff between solution quality and computational time compared to SB procedure for medium-size problems. Furthermore, it can obtain a good solution in a short time for large-scale jobshop scheduling problems. 展开更多

Based on the state feedback method, the resulting closed-loop systems are reliable in that they remain robust stochastically stable and satisfy a certain level of H∞ disturbance attenuation not only when all actuators are operational, but also in case of some actuator failures, The solvability condition of controllers can be equivalent to a feasibility problem of coupled linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, based on the LDI model, a neural network-based nonlinear filter (NNBNF) is developed to minimize the upper bound of H∞ gain index of the estimation error under some linear matrix inequality (LMI) constraints. Compared with the existing nonlinear filters, NNBNF is time-invariant and numerically tractable. When the parameters of the system change abruptly, a new multivariable adaptive feedforward decoupling controller using multiple models is presented to improve the transient response. The system models are composed of multiple fixed models, one free-running adaptive model and one re-initialized adaptive model. The fixed models are used to provide initial control to the process. The re-initialized adaptive model can be reinitialized as the selected model to improve the adaptation speed. The free-running adaptive controller is added to guarantee the overall system stability. At each instant, the best system model is selected according to the switching index and the corresponding controller is designed. During the controller design, the interaction is viewed as the measurable disturbance and eliminated by the choice of the weighting polynomial matrix. It not only eliminates the steady-state error but also decouples the system dynamically. The gtobel convergence is obtained and several simulation examples are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller. 展开更多

As the computer networks such as the Internet are being used as the communication channel of teleoperation system, varying time delay causes the overall system unstable and reduces the performance of transparency. This paper proposed twelve operation modes with different control schemes for teleoperation on the Internet with time delay. And an optimal operation mode with control scheme was specified for teleoperation with time delay, based on the tradeoff between passivity and transparency properties. It experimentally confirmed the validity of the proposed optimal mode and control scheme by using a simple one DOF master-slave manipulator system. 展开更多
