Three kinds of fiber, such as polyacrylonitrile-based carbon fiber, basalt fiber, and glass fiber, were used in the composite fibers reinforced cement concrete. The composite fibers could form a stable structure in concrete after the liquid-phase coupling treatment, gas-liquid double-effect treatment, and inert atmosphere drying. The mechanical properties of composite fibers reinforced concrete(CFRC) were studied by universal test machine(UTM). Moreover, the effect of composite fibers on concrete was analyzed based on the toughness index and residual strength index. The results demonstrated that the composite fibers could improve the mechanical properties of concrete, while the excessive amount of composite fibers had an adverse effect on the mechanical properties of concrete. The composite fibers could significantly improve the toughness index of CFRC, and the increment rate is more than 30%. The composite fibers could form a mesh structure, which could promote the stability of concrete and guarantee the excellent mechanical properties.展开更多

The experimental results indicated that the selfhealing capability of ASP increased with increasing heating time and temperature. Furthermore, the addition of siloxane could improve the reaction energy barrier and complex modulus, and it is believed that the self-healing is a viscosity driven process, consisting of two parts namely crack closure and properties recovery. Contact angle of ASP increased with the increasing siloxane content and it deduced that the siloxane could improve the hydrophobic performance of ASP and the ASP molecule model could simulate well the self-healing mechanism and hydrophobic performance of ASP.展开更多

The specific density, specific surface area, fineness modulus and mineralogy component of the dusts were tested. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) was carried out to research the microstructure of the dusts; dynamic shear rheological(DSR) test and time sweep test were used to research the high temperature and fatigue performance of asphalt mortars containing steel-making dust. The experimental results indicate that, compared with ordinary mineral filler, steel-making dusts have more active ingredients, difference surface characteristics and micro-structure. Furthermore, the high temperature and fatigue performance of steel-making dusts corresponding asphalt mortars are superior to those of reference group. Therefore, the steel-making dust would be an alternative to the ordinary mineral filler to improve the performance of asphalt mortars and reduce the harm of the dusts to the environment at the same time.展开更多

To test the performance of the CCTM, a series of experiments for sensitivity analysis were designed and performed for a multilane, two-way, three-signal sample network. Experiment 1 shows that the model is performed in a logical and expected manner with variations in traffic demand with time and direction. Experiment 2 shows when the possibility of the occurrence of a useful gap increases to 60% and 100%, the delays in left rams decrease by 5% and 15%, respectively. In Experiment 3, comparing the possibility of a conditional cell of 0 with 100%, delay of left turn and delay of the entire network were underestimated by 58% and 11%, respectively. Hence, sensitivity analysis demonstrates that by reflecting local drivers' behaviors properly, the CCTM provides an accurate representation of traffic flow in simulating oversaturated traffic conditions.展开更多

Taking Shenzhen as an example, multi- source data such as on-line taxi license plate data, plate identification data and taxi (including on-line taxis) operation data are combined with the results of the stated preference (SP) survey on taxi operating characteristics to assess the overall operation characteristics of on-line taxis. The results show that the current on-line taxis in Shenzhen can be divided into three categories, that is, full-time on-line taxis, non- active on-line taxis and part-time on-line taxis, accounting for 4%, 55%, and 41%, respectively, of the total quantity. In terms of the characteristics of space-time operations, full-time on-line taxis have similar operating characteristics as those of traditional taxis; the operation of non-active on-line taxis and part-time on-line taxis coincides with commuting requirements during morning and evening peak hours. However, part-time on-line taxis operate for a much longer time period at night. Due to the convenient hailing and favorable price, on-line taxis have a significant impact on trip modes of citizens; and the substitution eflbct of on-line taxis on traditional buses and cruising taxis is obvious. It is beneficial for helping the government departments to objectively understand the development law of the on-line taxi industry and providing decision reference for the formulation of relevant management policies during the critical development stage of on-line taxi industry.展开更多

Based on the results, compared with the AC-5 sample, the OGFC-5mixture has a higher air void ratio, a larger air void size and a greater number of air voids, with the distribution of internal air voids being more uniform and their shapes being more rounded. The two-parameter Weibull function was applied to fit the gradation of air voids. The fitting results is good, and the function parameters are sensitive to changes in both mineral gradation and compaction method. Moreover, two homogeneity indices were proposed to evaluate the compaction uniformity of UAFC samples. Compared with the Marshall method, the SGC method is more conducive to improve the compaction uniformity of UAFC samples. The compaction method significantly influences the air void distribution characteristics and compaction uniformity of AC-5sample, but has a less significant impact on OGFC-5 sample. The experimental results in the study provides a solid foundation for further explorations on the internal structure and mixture design of UAFC.展开更多

文摘The construction of a lunar base and habitation on the Moon has always been on researchers’minds.Building materials used in in situ lunar resources are of great significance for saving expensive space freight. In this study,a new type of lunar soil simulant named Beihang(BH)-1 was developed. The chemical mineral composition and microstructure of BH-1 closely resemble those of real lunar soil,as verified by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy(XRF),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and reflectance spectra. This research also synthesized a geopolymer based on BH-1 cured at simulated lunar atmospheric conditions. We also investigated the effect of supplementing aluminum(Al)sources on the enhancement of geopolymer strength based on BH-1.The rheological behavior of alkali-activated BH-1 pastes was determined for workability.XRF,XRD,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,SEM coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy, and 27Al magic angle spinningnuclear magnetic resonance were used to characterize resulting geopolymers.Rheological test findings showed that the rheology of BH-1 pastes fits the Herschel–Bulkley model, and they behaved like a shear-thinning fluid. The results showed that the 28-day compressive strength of the BH-1 geopolymer was improved by up to 100.8%.Meanwhile,the weight of additives required to produce per unit strength decreased, significantly reducing the mass of materials transported from the Earth for the construction of lunar infrastructure and saving space transportation costs.Microscopic analyses showed that the mechanism to improve the mechanical properties of the BH-1 geopolymer by adding an additional Al source enhances the replacement of silicon atoms by Al atoms in the silicon–oxygen group and generates a more complete and dense amorphous gel structure.

文摘To understand the enhancing effect and fiber-reinforced mechanism of composite fibers reinforced cement concrete, the influences of composite fibers on micro-cracks and the distribution of composite fibers were evaluated by optical electron micrometer(OEM) and scanning electron microscope(SEM). The composite fibers could form a mesh structure, which could promote the stability of concrete and guarantee the excellent mechanical properties.

文摘In order to inhibit and remove the thin ice and extend the lifetime of the damaged bridge, the self-healing mechanism and hydrophobic performance of asphalt modified by siloxane and polyurethane (ASP) were studied by dynamic shear rheology (DSR), fluorescence microscope (FM), atomic force microscope (AFM), the fracture-healing-re-fracture test and molecular simulations. Contact angle of ASP increased with the increasing siloxane content and it deduced that the siloxane could improve the hydrophobic performance of ASP and the ASP molecule model could simulate well the self-healing mechanism and hydrophobic performance of ASP.

文摘Vibration-based pavement condition(roughness and obvious anomalies)monitoring has been expanding in road engineering. However, the indistinctive transverse cracking has hardly been considered. Therefore,a vehicle-based novel method is proposed for detecting the transverse cracking through signal processing techniques and support vector machine(SVM).The vibration signals of the car traveling on the transverse-cracked and the crack-free sections were subjected to signal processing in time domain, frequency domain and wavelet domain, aiming to find indices that can discriminate vibration signal between the cracked and uncracked section. These indices were used to form 8 SVM models. The model with the highest accuracy and F1-measure was preferred, consisting of features including vehicle speed, range, relative standard deviation, maximum Fourier coefficient, and wavelet coefficient. Therefore,a crack and crack-free classifier was developed. Then its feasibility was investigated by 2292 pavement sections. The detection accuracy and F1-measure are 97.25%and 85.25%,respectively.The cracking detection approach proposed in this paper and the smartphone-based detection method for IRI and other distress may form a comprehensive pavement condition survey system.

文摘To research the possibility of steel-making dust as a kind of mineral filler in asphalt mixture, two steel-making dusts and one ordinary mineral filler were adopted. Therefore, the steel-making dust would be an alternative to the ordinary mineral filler to improve the performance of asphalt mortars and reduce the harm of the dusts to the environment at the same time.

文摘A novel conditional cell transmission model (CCTM) is a potential simulation tool because it accommodates all traffic conditions from light condition to oversaturated condition. Hence, sensitivity analysis demonstrates that by reflecting local drivers' behaviors properly, the CCTM provides an accurate representation of traffic flow in simulating oversaturated traffic conditions.

文摘A double-dimensional big data assessment method on the characteristics of on-line taxi traffic operation is proposed to provide a scientific basis for carrying out the taxi industry reform and standardizing the on-line taxi hailing management work. It is beneficial for helping the government departments to objectively understand the development law of the on-line taxi industry and providing decision reference for the formulation of relevant management policies during the critical development stage of on-line taxi industry.

文摘In order to analyze the risky factors that affect vehicle-cyclist crash injury severity at the intersection area, especially the factors relating to the road users behaviors,an empirical study was conducted by collecting accident records from 2011 to 2015 from the General Estimates System. After preliminary screening, the variables were classified into 5 main categories including cyclists characteristic and behavior, drivers characteristic and behavior, vehicle characteristic, intersection condition, and time. The random parameter ordinal probit(RPOP)was used to study the significant influencing factors and corresponding heterogeneity. The results show that failing to obey traffic signals, failing to yield to right-of-way,dash and drinking before cycling can increase the injury severity for cyclists, and the corresponding fatal injury likelihoods increase by 53.2%,40.0%,86.3%,and 211.5%,respectively.Moreover,drivers inattention, speeding, going straight and left turning increase the risk of crashing for cyclists. The corresponding fatal injury likelihoods increase by 134.5%,186.5%,69.3%,and 22.7%,respectively.Other indicators such as age, gender, vehicle type, traffic signal and intersection type can also affect injury severity.
文摘Standards of highway conservation and maintenance are improved gradually following the improvement of requirements of road service. Before obvious damage such as obvious cracking (block, transverse, longitudinal ) and rutting emerge, inconspicuous distress (micro-cracks, polishing, pockmarked) is generated previously. These inconspicuous distresses may provide basis and criteria for pavement preventive maintenance. Currently most of preventive conservation measures are determined by experienced experts in maintenance and repair of road after site visits. Thus method is difficult in operation, and has a certain amount of instability as it is based on experience and personal knowledge. In this paper, camera and laser were used for automated high-speed acquisition images. Methods to preprocess pavement image are compared. The pretreatment method suitable for analyze micro-cracks picture is elected, an effective way to remove shadow is also proposed.

文摘Fatigue performance evaluation on asphalt mixture provides an essential reference for asphalt mixture design and pavement structure design.Laboratory fatigue test has been widely used by researchers and engineers to assess the fatigue performance of asphalt mixture, due to its low cost, high efficiency, and strong operability. To ensure performance assessment reliability, fatigue test operated in the laboratory needs to simulate the loading and environmental conditions occurring in the field asphalt layer. As a result, loading setups in laboratory fatigue tests, including loading mode, loading frequency, loading waveform, temperature, and the controlled mode, have been carefully devised by researchers. This paper reviews the above common setups in fatigue tests, which aims to illustrate the classical and latest considerations as well as ideas proposed by researchers for improving fatigue test procedures. As fatigue response data of asphalt mixture is measured from fatigue test,an analysis method is required to process the data and identify fatigue behaviors of the material.Presently, the frequently-used fatigue data analysis methods include the fatigue life model,stiffness-modulus-based method,energy-based method, and viscoelastic continuum damage(VECD)method. This paper also provides a review survey on the main concepts, indicators, and models included in those methods to facilitate their applications.Meanwhile, the latest research progress and outputs related to the four methods are also introduced and discussed to reveal the state-of-the-art developments in this research area.

文摘The distribution characteristics of air voids in ultrathin asphalt friction course(UAFC) samples with different gradations and compaction methods were statistically analyzed using X-ray computed tomography(CT) and image analysis techniques. The experimental results in the study provides a solid foundation for further explorations on the internal structure and mixture design of UAFC.

文摘When tunnelling in difficult ground conditions, shield machine would inevitably produce significant ground loss and vibration, which may disturb the ground ahead of the tunnel face.In this paper, discrete element models calibrated by model tests were established to investigate the response of tunnel face under the coupling effects of unloading and cutterhead vibrations. The results show that the friction angle reduction under cyclic loading and vibration attenuation in the sandy ground are significant and can be estimated by the fitted exponential functions.Under cutterhead vibration, the tunnel face stability is undermined and the limit support pressure(LSP)increases to 1.4 times as that in the static case with the growth of frequency and amplitude.Meanwhile, the loosening zone becomes wider and the arching effect is weakened with the reduction of peak horizontal stress and the increase of vertical stress above the tunnel.Based on the numerical results,a pseudo-static method was introduced into the limit equilibrium analysis of the wedge-prism model for calculating the LSP under vibration. With an error rate less than 5.2%,the proposed analytical method is well validated.Further analytical calculation reveals that the LSP would increase with the growth of vibration amplitude, vibration frequency and covered depth but decrease with the increase of friction angle. This study can not only lay a solid foundation for the further investigation of ground loss, ground water and soft-hard heterogeneous ground under cutterhead vibration, but also provide meaningful references for the control of environmental disturbance in practice.
