The problem of prescribed performance tracking control for unknown time-delay nonlinear systems subject to output constraints is dealt with in this paper. In contrast with related works, only the most fundamental requirements, i.e., boundedness and the local Lipschitz condition, are assumed for the allowable time delays. Moreover, we focus on the case where the reference is unknown beforehand, which renders the standard prescribed performance control designs under output constraints infeasible. To conquer these challenges, a novel robust prescribed performance control approach is put forward in this paper.Herein, a reverse tuning function is skillfully constructed and automatically generates a performance envelop for the tracking error. In addition, a unified performance analysis framework based on proof by contradiction and the barrier function is established to reveal the inherent robustness of the control system against the time delays. It turns out that the system output tracks the reference with a preassigned settling time and good accuracy,without constraint violations. A comparative simulation on a two-stage chemical reactor is carried out to illustrate the above theoretical findings. 展开更多

Concentrate copper grade(CCG)is one of the important production indicators of copper flotation processes,and keeping the CCG at the set value is of great significance to the economic benefit of copper flotation industrial processes.This paper addresses the fluctuation problem of CCG through an operational optimization method.Firstly,a density-based affinity propagationalgorithm is proposed so that more ideal working condition categories can be obtained for the complex raw ore properties.Next,a Bayesian network(BN)is applied to explore the relationship between the operational variables and the CCG.Based on the analysis results of BN,a weighted Gaussian process regression model is constructed to predict the CCG that a higher prediction accuracy can be obtained.To ensure the predicted CCG is close to the set value with a smaller magnitude of the operation adjustments and a smaller uncertainty of the prediction results,an index-oriented adaptive differential evolution(IOADE)algorithm is proposed,and the convergence performance of IOADE is superior to the traditional differential evolution and adaptive differential evolution methods.Finally,the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed methods are verified by the experiments on a copper flotation industrial process. 展开更多

Advanced feedback control for optimal operation of mineral grinding process is usually based on the model predictive control (MPC) dynamic optimization. Since the MPC does not handle disturbances directly by controller design, it cannot achieve satisfactory effects in controlling complex grinding processes in the presence of strong disturbances and large uncertainties. In this paper, an improved disturbance observer (DOB) based MPC advanced feedback control is proposed to control the multivariable grinding operation. The improved DOB is based on the optimal achievable H 2 performance and can deal with disturbance observation for the nonminimum-phase delay systems. In this DOB-MPC advanced feedback control, the higher-level optimizer computes the optimal operation points by maximize the profit function and passes them to the MPC level. The MPC acts as a presetting controller and is employed to generate proper pre-setpoint for the lower-level basic feedback control system. The DOB acts as a compensator and improves the operation performance by dynamically compensating the setpoints for the basic control system according to the observed various disturbances and plant uncertainties. Several simulations are performed to demonstrate the proposed control method for grinding process operation. 展开更多

This paper is concerned with consensus of a secondorder linear time-invariant multi-agent system in the situation that there exists a communication delay among the agents in the network.A proportional-integral consensus protocol is designed by using delayed and memorized state information.Under the proportional-integral consensus protocol,the consensus problem of the multi-agent system is transformed into the problem of asymptotic stability of the corresponding linear time-invariant time-delay system.Note that the location of the eigenvalues of the corresponding characteristic function of the linear time-invariant time-delay system not only determines the stability of the system,but also plays a critical role in the dynamic performance of the system.In this paper,based on recent results on the distribution of roots of quasi-polynomials,several necessary conditions for Hurwitz stability for a class of quasi-polynomials are first derived.Then allowable regions of consensus protocol parameters are estimated.Some necessary and sufficient conditions for determining effective protocol parameters are provided.The designed protocol can achieve consensus and improve the dynamic performance of the second-order multi-agent system.Moreover,the effects of delays on consensus of systems of harmonic oscillators/double integrators under proportional-integral consensus protocols are investigated.Furthermore,some results on proportional-integral consensus are derived for a class of high-order linear time-invariant multi-agent systems. 展开更多

This article studies the adaptive optimal output regulation problem for a class of interconnected singularly perturbed systems(SPSs) with unknown dynamics based on reinforcement learning(RL).Taking into account the slow and fast characteristics among system states,the interconnected SPS is decomposed into the slow time-scale dynamics and the fast timescale dynamics through singular perturbation theory.For the fast time-scale dynamics with interconnections,we devise a decentralized optimal control strategy by selecting appropriate weight matrices in the cost function.For the slow time-scale dynamics with unknown system parameters,an off-policy RL algorithm with convergence guarantee is given to learn the optimal control strategy in terms of measurement data.By combining the slow and fast controllers,we establish the composite decentralized adaptive optimal output regulator,and rigorously analyze the stability and optimality of the closed-loop system.The proposed decomposition design not only bypasses the numerical stiffness but also alleviates the high-dimensionality.The efficacy of the proposed methodology is validated by a load-frequency control application of a two-area power system. 展开更多

This paper investigates the batching problem for steelmaking and continuous casting production in an iron and steel enterprise. The tasks of this problem are to decide how to select slabs and determine their width, how to group the selected slabs into charges and then group the charges into tundishes, how to determine the sequence of charges in each tundish, and how to group tundishes into casts and determine the sequence of tundishes in each cast. The effective decision on the batching problem can help balance the requirements of the sequential process after steelmaking and continuous casting,reduce production cost, and improve slab quality. We first give the mathematical description of the original problem. Based on the analysis of width, we present a decomposition strategy to divide the model into three sub-models, i.e., charge design model,tundish design model and cast design model, while adding relevant objectives and constraints. According to the characteristics of each sub-model, we present hybrid optimization algorithms separately. Computational experiments show the strategy, models and algorithms can generate satisfactory solutions. 展开更多

This paper briefly overviews recent progress in data-driven hybrid intelli-gence optimization methods and technologies in improving the performance of global production indicesin mineral processing. First, we provide the problem description. Next, we summarize recent progress indata-based optimization for mineral processing plants. This optimization consists of four layers: optimiza-tion of the target values for monthly global production indices, optimization of the target values for dailyglobal production indices, optimization of the target values for operational indices, and automation systemsfor unit processes. As a production quality index of hematite grinding process,particle size(PS)is hard to be measured in real time.To achieve the PS estimation,this paper proposes a novel data driven model of PS using stochastic configuration network(SCN)with robust technique,namely,robust SCN(RSCN).Firstly,this paper proves the universal approximation property of RSCN with weighted least squares technique.Secondly,three robust algorithms are presented by employing M-estimation with Huber loss function,M-estimation with interquartile range(IQR)and nonparametric kernel density estimation(NKDE)function respectively to set the penalty weight.Comparison experiments are first carried out based on the UCI standard data sets to verify the effectiveness of these methods,and then the data-driven PS model based on the robust algorithms are established and verified.Experimental results show that the RSCN has an excellent performance for the PS estimation. 展开更多

Multilevel feature moving average ratio method is proposed to realize an open-switch fault diagnosis for any switch of the microgrid inverter. The main steps of the proposed method include multilevel signal decomposition, coefficient reconstruction, absolute average ratio process and artificial neural network U+0028 ANN U+0029 classification. Specifically, multilevel signal decomposition is realized by using the means of multi resolution analysis to obtain the different frequency band coefficients of the three-phase current signal. The related coefficient reconstruction is executed to achieve signals decomposition in different levels. Furthermore, according to the obtained data, the absolute average ratio process is used to extract absolute moving average ratio of signal decomposition in different levels for the three-phase current. Finally, to intelligently classify the inverter switch fault and realize the adaptive ability, the ANN technology is applied. Compared to conventional fault diagnosis methods, the proposed method can accurately detect and locate the open-switch fault for any location of the microgrid inverter. Additionally, it need not set related threshold of algorithm and does not require normalization process, which is relatively easy to implement. The effectiveness of the proposed fault diagnosis method is demonstrated through detailed simulation results. © 2017 Chinese Association of Automation. 展开更多

Direct online measurement on product quality of industrial processes is difficult to be realized,which leads to a large number of unlabeled samples in modeling data.Therefore,it needs to employ semi-supervised learning(SSL)method to establish the soft sensor model of product quality.Considering the slow time-varying characteristic of industrial processes,the model parameters should be updated smoothly.According to this characteristic,this paper proposes an online adaptive semi-supervised learning algorithm based on random vector functional link network(RVFLN),denoted as OAS-RVFLN.By introducing a L2-fusion term that can be seen a weight deviation constraint,the proposed algorithm unifies the offline and online learning,and achieves smoothness of model parameter update.Empirical evaluations both on benchmark testing functions and datasets reveal that the proposed OAS-RVFLN can outperform the conventional methods in learning speed and accuracy.Finally,the OAS-RVFLN is applied to the coal dense medium separation process in coal industry to estimate the ash content of coal product,which further verifies its effectiveness and potential of industrial application. 展开更多

Based on robust adaptive dynamic programming(robust ADP) method, controllers for solving the singular systems optimal control problem are designed. The proposed algorithm can work well when the system model is not exactly known but the input and output data can be measured. The policy iteration of each controller only uses their own states and input information for learning,and do not need to know the whole system dynamics. Simulation results on the New England 10-machine 39-bus test system show the effectiveness of the designed controller. 展开更多

This paper investigates the secure synchronization control problem for a class of cyber-physical systems(CPSs)with unknown system matrices and intermittent denial-of-service(DoS)attacks.For the attack free case,an optimal control law consisting of a feedback control and a compensated feedforward control is proposed to achieve the synchronization,and the feedback control gain matrix is learned by iteratively solving an algebraic Riccati equation(ARE).For considering the attack cases,it is difficult to perform the stability analysis of the synchronization errors by using the existing Lyapunov function method due to the presence of unknown system matrices.In order to overcome this difficulty,a matrix polynomial replacement method is given and it is shown that,the proposed optimal control law can still guarantee the asymptotical convergence of synchronization errors if two inequality conditions related with the DoS attacks hold.Finally,two examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches. 展开更多

In this paper, an effective discrete-time adaptive control method is proposed for Wiener nonlinear systems with uncertainties. The parameterization model is derived based on the inverse of the nonlinear function block. The adaptive control method is motivated by self-tuning control and is derived from a modified Clarke criterion function, which considers both tracking properties and control efforts. The uncertain parameters are updated by a recursive least squares algorithm and the control law exhibits an explicit form. The closed-loop system stability properties are discussed. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the obtained results, two groups of simulation examples including an application to composition control in a continuously stirred tank reactor(CSTR) system are studied. 展开更多

The development of vehicle-to-everything and cloud computing has brought new opportunities and challenges to the automobile industry.In this paper,a commuter vehicle demand torque prediction method based on historical vehicle speed information is proposed,which uses machine learning to predict and analyze vehicle demand torque.Firstly,the big data of vehicle driving is collected,and the driving data is cleaned and features extracted based on road information.Then,the vehicle longitudinal driving dynamics model is established.Next,the vehicle simulation simulator is established based on the longitudinal driving dynamics model of the vehicle,and the driving torque of the vehicle is obtained.Finally,the travel is divided into several accelerationcruise-deceleration road pairs for analysis,and the vehicle demand torque is predicted by BP neural network and Gaussian process regression. 展开更多
