It was found that abundant toxic gas (H2S) is generated in thermal recovery of heavy oil. The H2S gas is mainly formed during thermochemical sulfate reduction (TSR) occurring in oil reservoirs or the thermal decomposition of sulfocompounds (TDS) in crude oil. H2S generation is controlled by thermal recovery time, temperature and the injected chemical compounds. The quantity of SO4^2- in the injected compounds is the most influencing factor for the rate of TSR reaction. Therefore, for prevention of H2S formation, periodic and effective monitoring should be undertaken and adequate H2S absorbent should also be provided during thermal recovery of heavy oil. The result suggests that great efforts should be made to reduce the SO4^2- source in heavy oil recovery, so as to restrain H2S generation in reservoirs. In situ burning or desulfurizer adsorption are suggested to reduce H2S levels. Prediction and prevention of H2S are important in heavy oil production. This will minimize environmental and human health risks, as well as equipment corrosion.展开更多

Traditionally accurate determination of DNA purity and concentration by spectrometer is the first and critical step for downstream molecular biology research. In this study, three different spectrophotometry methods, BPM, NDTT and NPMTTZ were compared for their performance in determining DNA concentration and purity in 32 oil samples, and molecule methods like quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) and high-throughput sequence were also performed to help assess the accuracy of the three methods in determining DNA concentration and purity. For ordinary heavy oil (OHO), extra heavy oil (EHO) and super heavy oil (SHO), the characteristics of high viscosity (η), density (ρ) and resin plus asphaltene content will affect the DNA extraction and UV determination. The DNA concentration was decreased as density increased: OHO (11.46 ± 18.34 ng/μL), EHO (6.68 ± 9.67 ng/μL) and SHO (6.20 ± 7.83 ng/μL), and the DNA purity was on the reverse: OHO (1.31 ± 0.27), EHO (1.54 ± 0.20), and SHO (1.83 ± 0.32). The results suggest that spectrophotometry such as BPM and NPMTTZ are qualitatively favorite methods as the quick non-consumable methods in determining DNA concentration and purity of medium oil and heavy oil.展开更多

In this study, the distribution and origin of natural gas were discussed based on natural gas components and isotope data. The main components of natural gas were hydrocarbons with relatively high contents of C2+ component. Most gases were derived from terrestrial source rocks, and some came from marine rocks. The contents of non-hydrocarbon gases were high in the central part of the frontal uplift area and low in the two terminals. The distribution of oil composition was similar to that of natural gas, which was mainly controlled by the types of source rocks. Dry coefficient and maturity of natural gas in the frontal uplift were lower than those of gas in the Kelasu tectonic belt of the Kuqa depression, which was mainly affected by the difference of tectonic movements in both areas. In the frontal uplift, the traps were formed in the early stage and could capture the early formed oil and gas, and structural adjustment was slight in later stages, so the oil and gas could be effectively preserved. Multiperiodic oil and gas filling led to the complex distribution of natural gas.展开更多

Oil exploration and production were the focus of this field, but the gas was ignored. This study examined twenty five gas samples with the purpose of determining the gas genetic types and their geochemical characteristics. Molecular components, stable carbon isotopic compositions and light hydrocarbons were also measured, and they proved that microbial activity has attacked some of the gas components which resulted in unusual carbon isotopic distributions. Propane seems to be selectively attacked during the initial stage of microbial alteration, with abnormally lower con-tent compared to that of butane as well as anomalously heavy carbon isotope. As a consequence, the carbon isotopic distribution among the gas components is partially reverse, as δ13C1<δ13C2<δ13C3>δ13C4. Besides, n-alkanes of C3+ gas components are preferentially attacked during the process of microbial alteration. This is manifested that n-alkanes are more enriched in 13C than corresponding iso-alkanes. As a result, the concentrations of n-alkanes be-come very low, which may be misleading in indentifying the gas genetic types. As to four gas samples, light hydro-carbon compositions display evidence for microbial alteration. The sequence of hexane isomers varies obviously with high content of 2,3-DMC4, which indicates that they have been in the fourth level of extensively bacterial al-teration. So the geochemical characteristics can be affected by microbial alteration, and recognition of microbial alteration in gas accumulations is very important for interpreting the natural gas genetic types.展开更多

Accordingly, nine schemes of CO_(2) injection well (IW) and CH_(4) production well (PW) are established, aiming to explore the behavior of free gases after CO_(2) is injected into the depleted Wufeng–Longmaxi shale. The results indicate the free CH4 or CO2 content in the shale fractures/matrix is invariably heterogeneous. The CO_(2) involvement facilitates the ratio of free CH_(4)/CO_(2) in the matrix to that in the fractures declines and tends to be stable with time. Different combinations of IW–PWs induce a difference in the ratio of the free CH4 to the free CO_(2), in the ratio of the free CH_(4)/CO_(2) in the matrix to that in the fractures, in the content of the recovered free CH_(4), and in the content of the trapped free CO_(2). Basically, when the IW locates at the bottom Wufeng–Longmaxi shale, a farther IW–PWs distance allows more CO2 in the free phase to be trapped;furthermore, no matter where the IW is, a shorter IW–PWs distance benefits by getting more CH_(4) in the free phase recovered from the depleted Wufeng–Longmaxi shale. Hopefully, this work is helpful in gaining knowledge about the shale-based CO_(2) injection technique.展开更多

文摘Sustained casing pressure(SCP)is a crucial issue in the oil and gas production lifecycle.Epoxy resins, exhibiting exceptional compressive strength, ductility, and shear bonding strength, have the potential to form reliable barriers. The injectivity and sealing capacity of the epoxy resin is crucial parameters for the success of shallow remediation operations. This study aimed to develop and assess a novel solid-free resin sealant as an alternative to Portland cement for mitigating fluid leakage. The investigation evaluated the viscosity, compressive strength, and brittleness index of the epoxy resin sealant,as well as its tangential and normal shear strengths in conjunction with casing steel. The flow characteristics and sealing abilities of conventional cement and epoxy resin were comparatively analyzed in cracks. The results showed that the application of a viscosity reducer facilitated control over the curing time of the epoxy resin, ranging from 1.5 to 6 h,and reduced the initial viscosity from 865.53 to 118.71 m Pa,s.The mechanical properties of the epoxy resin initially increased with a rise in curing agent content before experiencing a minor decrease. The epoxy resin containing 30%curing agent exhibited optimal mechanical properties. After a 14-day curing period, the epoxy resin's compressive strength reached81.37 MPa,2.12 times higher than that of cement, whereas the elastic modulus of cement was 2.99 times greater than that of the epoxy resin. The brittleness index of epoxy resin is only 3.42,demonstrating high flexibility and toughness. The tangential and normal shear strengths of the epoxy resin exceeded those of cement by 3.17 and 2.82 times, respectively. In a 0.5 mm-wide crack, the injection pressure of the epoxy resin remained below 0.075 MPa,indicating superior injection and flow capabilities.Conversely, the injection pressure of cement surged dramatically to 2.61 MPa within 5 min.The breakthrough pressure of0.5 PV epoxy resin reached 7.53 MPa,decreasing the crack's permeability to 0.02 D,a mere 9.49%of the permeability observed following cement plugging.Upon sealing a 2 mm-wide crack using epoxy resin, the maximum breakthrough pressure attained 5.47 MPa,3.48 times of cement. These results suggest that epoxy resin sealant can be employed safely and effectively to seal cracks in the cement.

文摘At high cycles of steam huff&puff, oil distribution in reservoirs becomes stronger heterogeneity due to steam channeling.Thermal solidification agent can be used to solve this problem. Its solution is a lowviscosity liquid at normal temperature, but it can be solidified above 80℃.The plugging degree is up to 99%at 250℃.The sweep efficiency reaches 59.2%,which is 7.3%higher than pure steam injection. In addition, simultaneous injection of viscosity reducer and/or nitrogen foams can further enhance oil recovery. The mechanism of this technology depends on its strong plugging ability, which changes the flowing pattern of steam to effectively mobilize remaining oil.Viscosity reducer and nitrogen foams further expand the sweep range and extends the effective period. Therefore, thermal solidification agent can plug steam channeling paths and adjust steam flowing direction to significantly enhance oil recovery at high cycles of steam huff&puff.

文摘The low porosity and low permeability of tight oil reservoirs call for improvements in the current technologies for oil recovery.Traditional chemical solutions with large molecular size cannot effectively flow through the nanopores of the reservoir. In this study, the feasibility of Nanofluids has been investigated using a high pressure high temperature core-holder and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR).The results of the experiments indicate that the specified Nanofluids can enhance the tight oil recovery significantly. The water and oil relative permeability curve shifts to the high water saturation side after Nanofluid flooding, thereby demonstrating an increase in the water wettability of the core.In the Nanofluid flooding process the oil recovery was enhanced by 15.1%,compared to waterflooding stage. The T2 spectra using the NMR show that after Nanofluid flooding,a 7.18%increment in oil recovery factor was gained in the small pores,a 4.9%increase in the middle pores, and a 0.29%increase in the large pores. These results confirm that the Nanofluids can improve the flow state in micro-sized pores inside the core and increase the ultimate oil recovery factor.

文摘Erosion wear is a common failure mode in the oil and gas industry. In the hydraulic fracturing, the fracturing pipes are not only in high-pressure working environment, but also suffer from the impact of the high-speed solid particles in the fracturing fluid.Beneath such complex conditions, the vulnerable components of the pipe system are prone to perforation or even burst accidents, which has become one of the most serious risks at the fracturing site.Unfortunately,it is not yet fully understood the erosion mechanism of pipe steel for hydraulic fracturing. Therefore, this article provides a detailed analysis of the erosion behavior of fracturing pipes under complex working conditions based on experiments and numerical simulations.Firstly,we conducted erosion experiments on AISI 4135 steel for fracturing pipes to investigate the erosion characteristics of the material. The effects of impact angle, flow velocity and applied stress on erosion wear were comprehensively considered. Then a particle impact dynamic model of erosion wear was developed based on the experimental parameters, and the evolution process of particle erosion under different impact angles, impact velocities and applied stress was analyzed.By combining the erosion characteristics, the micro-structure of the eroded area, and the micro-mechanics of erosion damage, the erosion mechanism of pipe steel under fracturing conditions was studied in detail for the first time.Under high-pressure operating conditions,it was demonstrated through experiments and numerical simulations that the size of the micro-defects in the eroded area increased as the applied stress increased, resulting in more severe erosion wear of fracturing pipes.

文摘K oilfield in Kazakhstan is a medium-high permeability sandstone reservoir which underwent 34 years of waterflood development and went into a later high water cut stage in current, intrabeded and interformational heterogeneity is strong, and the distribution rule of remaining oil is very complex.Though a considerable scale of reserves, there is a big difficult for the stable production and increasing production, and the development clue is urgently in need of transformation.
文摘Steam flooding is a widely used technique to enhance oil recovery of heavy oil.Thermal viscosity reduction and distillation effect are considered as two main displacement mechanisms in steam flooding process. However, the molecular composition understanding and contribution for oil production are still unclear. In this study, the composition analysis of the heavy oil was investigated in the core scale steam flooding process with the temperature from 120 to 280℃.The crude oil, produced oils and residual oils were characterized comprehensively by gas chromatography and high-resolution mass spectrometry. It is found that steam flooding preferentially extracts aromatics and remains more resins in the residual oil.Viscosity reduction is the dominant mechanism when steam is injected at a low temperature.Large molecular heteroatoms with high carbon number and high double bond equivalent(DBE)are eluted into the produced oil, while compounds with low carbon number and low DBE are remained in the residual oil.As the steam temperature rises, the increased distillation effect results in the extraction of light hydrocarbons from the residual oil to the produced oil.More small heteroatoms with low carbon number and low DBE enter into the produced oil, especially in the none water cut stage. The compositional difference of produced oils is characterized in DBE versus carbon number distribution of the N and O containing compound classes. This work uses a variety of composition analysis methods to clarify the steam flooding mechanism and provides a novel understanding of steam flooding mechanisms with various temperatures and production stages from the molecular perspective.

文摘DNA analysis is the core of biotechnology applied in petroleum resources and engineering. The results suggest that spectrophotometry such as BPM and NPMTTZ are qualitatively favorite methods as the quick non-consumable methods in determining DNA concentration and purity of medium oil and heavy oil.

文摘Generally, the so-called expansion agent is very effective in eliminating all the micro-annuli that exist between the casing and the cement sheath or between the cement sheath and the formation. However, this approach can detrimentally affect the sealing ability of cement sheath if the expansion agent is used in an unreasonable way.For these reasons,in the present work, numerical simulations have been conducted to analyze the effect of elasticity modulus of cement sheath, the elasticity modulus of formation, the expansion rate of cement, the geo-stress on the micro-annulus caused by cement expansion, and the cement sheath expansion on the integrity of cement sheath and formation. The micro-annulus between the casing and the cement sheath has been found to decrease according to the ratio between the elasticity modulus of formation and the elasticity modulus of cement sheath.A positive correlation has been observed between the micro-annulus and the cement expansion ratio. The microannulus decreases as the geo-stress increases, but the effect of the geo-stress on the micro-annulus is much smaller. In conclusion, the expansion agent is suitable for the formation in which the elasticity modulus is higher than the cement sheath.

文摘The frontal uplift of the Kuqa depression is an important oil and gas producing area. Multiperiodic oil and gas filling led to the complex distribution of natural gas.
文摘Xinglongtai field has been an important petroleum-producing area of Liaohe Depression for 30 years. So the geochemical characteristics can be affected by microbial alteration, and recognition of microbial alteration in gas accumulations is very important for interpreting the natural gas genetic types.

文摘In this work, a novel thermal–hydraulic–mechanical (THM) coupling model is developed, where the real geological parameters of the reservoir properties are embedded. Hopefully, this work is helpful in gaining knowledge about the shale-based CO_(2) injection technique.
