The individual behavior of ferrite and austenite in microstructure was studied in an iso-stress condition. Hot compression tests were performed at temperatures of 800-1100~C and strain rates of 0.001-1 s-1. The flow stress was modeled by a hyperbolic sine constitutive equation, the corresponding constants and apparent activation energies were determined for the studied alloys. The constitutive equation and law of mixture were used to measure the contribution factor of each phase at any given strain. It is found that the contribution factor of ferrite exponentially declines as the Zener-HoUomon parameter (Z) increases. On the contrary, the austenite contribution polynomially increases with the increase of Z. At low Z values below 2.6. x 1015 (lnZ---35.5), a negative contribution factor is determined for austenite that is attributed to dynamic recrystallization. At high Z values, the contribution factor of austenite is about two orders of magnitude greater than that of ferrite, and therefore, austenite can accommodate more strain. Microstructural characterization via electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD) confirms the mechanical results and shows that austenite recrystallization is possible only at high temperature and low strain rate.展开更多

To efficiently apply this emerging technology, it is important to understand the evolution of microstructure in semi-solid slurries for the control of the theological behavior in semi-solid state. An experimental apparatus was developed which can capture the grain structure at different times at early stages to understand how the semi-solid structure evolves. In this technique, semi-solid slurry was produced by injecting fine gas bubbles into the melt through a graphite diffuser during solidification. Then, a copper quenching mold was used to draw some semi-solid slurry into a thin channel. The semi-solid slurry was then rapidly frozen in the channel giving the microstructure of the slurry at the desired time. Samples of semi-solid 356 aluminum alloy were taken at different gas injection times of 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 35, 40, and 45 s. Analysis of the microstructure suggests that the fragmentation by remelting mechanism should be responsible for the formation of globular structure in this rheocasting process.展开更多

Movement of the position of low punch shown shrinkage of the sintered body began above 800℃. The shrinkage slowly rose as the temperature rose from 800 to 1000℃ and then quickly rose at above 1000℃ and then gradually rose at above 1150℃. The densities of the samples increased with an increase in sintering temperature, rapidly below 1100℃, and then gradually above 1100℃. WC grains grow gradually with increasing sintering temperature. The powder was sintered to near full density at 1100℃ for 5 rain under 10 kN. The best result of the sample with 275 nm WC grains and no pores was obtained at 1150℃ under 10 kN for 5 rain. The research found the graphite die had a function of carburization, which could compensate the sintered body for the lack of carbon, and had the normal microstructure.展开更多

The nickel coating with 20 μm thickness was applied on 6061 aluminum alloy by direct current electroplating. The samples were then heat-treated for different durations at 450, 500 and 550 °C under argon atmosphere. The intermetallic phases were identified by means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive spectrometry(EDS) and X-ray diffraction(XRD). The results showed that the formation of intermetallic phases consisted of two important steps. The first step was the lateral growth of intermetallic phase from separate sites, resulting in the formation of a continuous layer. The second step was the growth of the continuous intermetallic layer in the direction perpendicular to the interface. However, excessive increase in thickness of intermetallic phases led to the detachment of reaction products, i.e., Al3 Ni and Al3Ni2, from the substrate. It was also observed that aluminum was the dominant diffusing element during Al3 Ni growth, while nickel diffusion was dominant during Al3Ni2 growth. The growth kinetics of both Al3 Ni and Al3Ni2 phases obeyed a parabolic law.展开更多

文摘Polyethylene glycol(PEG)was added at different concentrations to the blend of poly(L-lactic acid)(PLLA)and poly(D,L-lactic acid)(PDLLA)to tailor the properties. The differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)measurement showed that all blends were miscible due to shifting a single glass transition temperature into a lower temperature for increasing PEG content. The DSC,FTIR,and XRD results implied the crystallinity enhancement for PEG content until 8 wt%,then decreased at 12 wt%PEG.The XRD result indicated the homo crystalline phase formation in all blends and no stereocomplex crystal. The in vitro degradation study indicated that PEG content is proportional to the degradation rate. The highest weight loss after 28 days was achieved at 12 wt%PEG.The FTIR analysis showed a structural evolution overview during hydrolytic degradation, viz.increasing and decreasing crystallinity during 14 days for the blend without and with PEG,respectively. In conclusion, the PEG addition increased crystallinity and degradation rate of the PLLA/PDLLA mixture, but PEG higher amounts led to a decrease in crystallinity, and the weight loss was intensified. This can be useful for tuning PLA-based biomaterials with the desired physicochemical properties and appropriate degradation rates for applications in drug delivery/tissue engineering.
文摘Magnesium(Mg)is a widely used and attractive metal, known for its unique physical and chemical properties, and it has been employed in the manufacture of many practical materials.Layered Double Hydroxides(LDHs),particularly Mg-based LDHs,rank among the most prevalent two-dimensional materials utilized in separation processes, which include adsorption, extraction, and membrane technology. The high popularity of Mg-based LDHs in separation applications can be attributed to their properties, such as excellent hydrophilicity, high surface area, ion exchangeability, and adjustable interlayer space.Currently, polymer membranes play a pivotal role in semi-industrial and industrial separation processes.Consequently, the development of polymer membranes and the mitigation of their limitations have emerged as compelling topics for researchers.Several methods exist to enhance the separation performance and anti-fouling properties of polymer membranes.Among these, incorporating additives into the membrane polymer matrix stands out as a cost-effective,straightforward,readily available, and efficient approach. The use of Mg-based LDHs,either in combination with other materials or as a standalone additive in the polymer membrane matrix, represents a promising strategy to bolster the separation and anti-fouling efficacy of flat sheet mixed matrix polymer membranes. This review highlights Mg-based LDHs as high-potential additives designed to refine flat sheet mixed matrix polymer membranes for applications in wastewater treatment and brackish water desalination.

文摘Modulating metal-organic framework’s(MOF)crystallinity and size using a polymer,in conjunction with a high surface area of layered double hydroxide, yields an effective strategy for concurrently enhancing the electrochemical and photocatalytic performance. In this study,we present the development of an optimized nanocomposite, denoted as 0.5PVP/ZIF-67,developed on AZ31 magnesium alloy, serving as an efficient and durable multifunctional coating. This novel strategy aims to enhance the overall performance of the porous coating through the integration of microarc oxidation(MAO),ZnFe LDH backbone, and ZIF-67 formation facilitated by the addition of polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP),resulting in a three-dimensional,highly efficient, and multifunctional material. The incorporation of 0.5 g of PVP proved to be effective in the size modulation of ZIF-67,which formed a corrosion-resistant top layer, improving the total polarization resistance(R_(p)=8.20×10^(8)).The dual functionality exhibited by this hybrid architecture positions it as a promising candidate for mitigating environmental pollution, degrading 97.93%of Rhodamine B dye in 45 min. Moreover, the sample displayed exceptional degradation efficiency(96.17%)after 5 cycles. This study illuminates the potential of nanocomposites as electrochemically stable and photocatalytically active materials, laying the foundation for the advancements of next-generation multifunctional frameworks.
文摘Plasma Electrolyte Oxidation(PEO)process has increasingly been employed to improve magnesium surface properties by fabrication of an MgO-based coating.Originating from conventional anodizing procedures, this high-voltage process produces an adhesive ceramic film on the surface. The present article provides a comprehensive review around mechanisms of PEO coatings fabrication and their different properties.Due to complexity of PEO coatings formation,a complete explanation regarding fabrication mechanisms of PEO coatings has not yet been proposed;however, the most important advancements in the field of fabrication mechanisms of PEO coatings were gathered in this work.Mechanisms of PEO coatings fabrication on magnesium were reviewed considering voltage–time plots, optical spectrometry, acoustic emission spectrometry and electronic properties of the ceramic film.Afterwards, the coatings properties, affecting parameters and improvement strategies were discussed. In addition, corrosion resistance of coatings, important factors in corrosion resistance and methods for corrosion resistance improvement were considered.Tribological properties(important factors and improvement methods)of coatings were also studied.Since magnesium and its alloys are broadly used in biological applications, the biological properties of PEO coatings, important factors in their biological performance and existing methods for improvement of coatings were explained.Addition of ceramic based nanoparticles and formation of nanocomposite coatings may considerably influence properties of plasma electrolyte oxidation coatings.Nanocomposite coatings properties and nanoparticles adsorption mechanisms were included in a separate sector.Another method to improve coatings properties is formation of hybrid coatings on PEO coatings which was discussed in the end.
文摘The microstructure and mechanical properties of Inconel 625 alloy fabricated by wire arc additive manufacturing process were evaluated under as-prepared and heat-treated conditions.A dendritic Ni-based solid solution phase along with(Nb,Ti)C carbide,Laves, and δ-Ni3Nb secondary phases were developed in the microstructure of the as-prepared alloy.Solution heat treatment led to the dissolution of Laves and Ni3Nb phases. In addition, dendrites were replaced with large columnar grains.Aging heat treatment resulted in the formation of grain boundary M23C6 carbide and nanometric γ''precipitates.Hardness, yield and tensile strengths,as well as elongation of the as-prepared part, were close to those of the cast alloy and its fracture occurred in a transgranular ductile mode.Solution heat treatment improved hardness and yield strength and declined the elongation, but it did not have a considerable impact on the tensile strength.Furthermore, aging heat treatment caused the tensile properties to deteriorate and changed the fracture to a mixture of transgranular ductile and intergranular brittle mode.
文摘The hot deformation characteristics of 1.4462 duplex stainless steel (DSS) were analyzed by considering strain partitioning between austenite and ferrite constituents. Microstructural characterization via electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD) confirms the mechanical results and shows that austenite recrystallization is possible only at high temperature and low strain rate.

文摘Semi-solid metal processing is being developed in die casting applications to give several cost benefits. Analysis of the microstructure suggests that the fragmentation by remelting mechanism should be responsible for the formation of globular structure in this rheocasting process.
文摘The aim of the present study was to investigate the modeling and prediction of the high temperature flow characteristics of a cast magnesium(Mg-Al-Ca)alloy by both constitutive equation and ANN model.Toward this end,hot compression experiments were performed in 250-450℃and in strain rates of 0.001-1 s^(−1).The true stress of alloy was first and foremost described by the hyperbolic sine function in an Arrhenius-type of constitutive equation taking the effects of strain, strain rate and temperature into account.Predictions indicated that unlike low strain rates and high temperature with dominant DRX activation,in relatively high strain rate and low temperature values, the precision of the models become decreased due to activation of twinning phenomenon. At that moment and for a better evaluation of twinning effect during deformation,a feed-forward back propagation ANN was developed to study the flow behavior of the investigated alloy. Then, the performance of the two suggested models has been assessed using a statistical criterion. The comparative assessment of the gained results specifies that the well-trained ANN is much more precise and accurate than the constitutive equations in predicting the hot flow behavior.
文摘A 92WC-8Co powder mixture with 33 nm WC grains was prepared by strengthening ball milling and was then sintered by spark plasma sintering (SPS) at 1000-1200℃ for 5-18 rain under 10-25 kN, respectively. The research found the graphite die had a function of carburization, which could compensate the sintered body for the lack of carbon, and had the normal microstructure.
文摘The formation mechanisms and growth kinetics of Al3 Ni and Al3Ni2 in Ni-Al diffusion couple prepared by electrodeposition of Ni on Al substrate were investigated. The growth kinetics of both Al3 Ni and Al3Ni2 phases obeyed a parabolic law.

文摘Several rheocasting processes are developed or applied worldwide in the metal forming industry. One of the new rheocasting processes is the gas induced semi-solid(GISS) process. The GISS process utilizes the principle of rapid heat extraction and vigorous local extraction using the injection of fine gas bubbles through a graphite diffuser.Several forming processes such as die casting, squeeze casting, gravity casting, and rheo-extrusion of the semi-solid slurries prepared by the GISS process have also been conducted. The GISS process is capable of processing various alloys including cast aluminum alloys, die casting aluminum alloys, wrought aluminum alloys, and zinc alloys. The GISS process is currently developed to be used commercially in the industry with the focus on forming semi-solid slurries containing low fractions solid(< 0.25) into parts. The research and development activities of the GISS process were discussed and the status of the industrial developments of this process was reported.
文摘Oxidation behaviors of Ni(Cr)-TiB2 coating deposited by HVOF technique were studied at 800,900 and 1 000℃in air. The microstructures of as-sprayed and oxidized coatings were characterized by X-ray diffractometry(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).After oxidation at 800℃,a thin and adherent oxide layer was formed on the surface of the coating. With increasing exposure temperature, the thickness of the oxide layer increased;and at 1 000℃the oxide layer separated from the coating.Investigation of the kinetics of oxidation by using the thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)technique shows a parabolic oxidation rate.

文摘The feasibility of semi-solid die casting of ADC12 aluminum alloy was studied. The effects of plunger speed, gate thickness, and solid fraction of the slurry on the defects were determined. The defects investigated are gas and shrinkage porosity. In the experiments, semi-solid slurry was prepared by the gas-induced semi-solid (GISS) technique. Then, the slurry was transferred to the shot sleeve and injected into the die. The die and shot sleeve temperatures were kept at 180 ℃ and 250 ℃, respectively. The results show that the samples produced by the GISS die casting give little porosity, no blister and uniform microstructure. From all the results, it can be concluded that the GISS process is feasible to apply in the ADC12 aluminum die casting process. In addition, the GISS process can give improved properties such as decreased porosity and increased microstructure uniformity.
