A microgrid(MG)refers to a set of loads,generation resources and energy storage systems acting as a controllable load or a generator to supply power and heating to a local area.The MG-generated power management is a c...A microgrid(MG)refers to a set of loads,generation resources and energy storage systems acting as a controllable load or a generator to supply power and heating to a local area.The MG-generated power management is a central topic for MG design and operation.The existence of dispersed generation(DG)resources has faced MG management with new issues.Depending on the level of exchanges between an MG and the main grid,the MG operation states can be divided into independent or grid-connected ones.Energy management in MGs aims to supply power at the lowest cost for optimal load response.This study examines MG energy management in two operational modes of islanded and grid-connected,and proposes a structure with two control layers(primary and secondary)for energy management.At the principal level of control,the energy management system is determined individually for all MG by taking into consideration the probability constraints and RES uncertainty by the Weibull the probability density function(PDF),generation resources’power as well as the generation surplus and deficit of each MG.Then,the information of the power surplus and deficit of each MG must be sent to the central energy management system.To confirm the proposed structure,a case system with two MGs and a condensive load is simulated by using a multi-time harmony search algorithm.Several scenarios are applied to evaluate the performance of this algorithm.The findings clearly show the effectiveness of the proposed system in the energy management of several MGs,leading to the optimal performance of the resources per MG.Moreover,the proposed control scheme properly controls the MG and grid’s performance in their interactions and offers a high level of robustness,stable behavior under different conditions and high quality of power supply.展开更多
Subsequent commutation failure(SCF)can be easily generated during the first commutation failure(CF)recovery process in a line-commutated converter-based high voltage direct-current system.SCF poses a significant threa...Subsequent commutation failure(SCF)can be easily generated during the first commutation failure(CF)recovery process in a line-commutated converter-based high voltage direct-current system.SCF poses a significant threat to the safe and stable operation of power systems,and accurate prediction of CF is thus important.However,SCF is affected by the operating characteristics of the main circuit and the coupling effects of sequential control response in the inverter station.These are difficult to predict accurately.In this paper,a new SCF prediction method considering the control response is proposed based on the physical principle of SCF.The time sequence and switching conditions of the controllers at different stages of the first CF recovery process are described,and the corresponding equations of commutation voltage affected by different controllers are derived.The calculation method of the SCF threshold voltage is proposed,and the prediction method is established.Simulations show that the proposed method can predict SCF accurately and provide useful tools to suppress SCF.展开更多

The direct‐current circuit breaker(DCCB)is the most ideal choice for DC fault isolation in DC grids.Despite a late start,China's research and development on the DCCB have made outstanding achievements.This articl...The direct‐current circuit breaker(DCCB)is the most ideal choice for DC fault isolation in DC grids.Despite a late start,China's research and development on the DCCB have made outstanding achievements.This article provides a brief glance of current China's DCCB development status.It begins by sorting out the technical route according to the topology of DCCB.Then it systematically summarises both mechanical and hybrid DCCBs with focussing on the aspects of topology structure and principle,key technology and characteristics,prototype development and application.It is apparent that Chinese scientists and engineers confronted the worldwide problem of large capacity DC breaking,and put forward a comprehensive solution which consists of an innovative topology structure based on coupled negative voltage circuit,breaking throughs on the key technologies such as highly controllable and reliable fault current commutation,millisecond‐level ultra‐fast and efficient electromagnetic repulsion mechanism,high tolerance and high stability power electronic switch,low residual voltage and fast response energy consumption device,etc.The article states that the world's first set of hybrid high‐voltage(HV)DCCB,and the first set of mechanical HV DCCB have been developed.These DCCBs will soon be deployed to the DC grids which have the highest voltage levels therefore require the strongest breaking capacity.These achievements are leading the world in the development and application of DCCB.The article also discusses the overall development trends of DCCB in the areas of new topologies,key techno-logical breakthroughs and application scenarios,etc.These discussions serve as references for DCCB's future technological advancement and its ever‐expanding applications.展开更多
Dynamic reactive power compensation equipment typically requires a fast response to output the necessary reactive power.The term"dynamic response time of reactive power"is often used but has never been clear...Dynamic reactive power compensation equipment typically requires a fast response to output the necessary reactive power.The term"dynamic response time of reactive power"is often used but has never been clearly defined.This paper summarizes the reactive power calculations under different definitions and algorithms and considers these calculations in terms of signal processing to simulate and analyze the step response.This paper subsequently focuses on the widely used instantaneous reactive power algorithm and finally concludes that the dynamic reactive power response time closely depends on the reactive power calculation method itself.The single-phase instantaneous reactive power algorithm has the fastest response time.The reactive power response time of dynamic reactive devices in power systems is a minimum of a quarter of one cycle time for the well-known and widely used single-phase reactive power algorithms.展开更多
