The theoretical analysis reveals that the energy is mainly dissipated through the radial bending of the metal circular tube, the circumferential expansion of the metal circular tube, and the metal filled-foam compression. The principle of energy conservation is used to derive the theoretical formula for the minimum compressive force of the MFFCT over free inversion under axial loading. Furthermore, the free inversion deformation characteristics of the MFFCT are analyzed numerically. The theoretical steady values are found to be in good agreement with the results of the finite element(FE) analysis. The effects of the average diameter of the metal tube, the wall thickness of the metal tube, and the filled-foam strength on the free inversion deformation of the MFFCT are considered. It is observed that in the steady deformation stage, the load-carrying and energy-absorbing capacities of the MFFCT increase with the increase in the average diameter of the metal tube, the wall thickness of the metal tube, or the filled-foam strength. The specific energy absorption(SEA) of free inversion of the MFFCT is significantly higher than that of the metal tube alone.展开更多

Firstly, it helps to understand the mechanism and conditions of unwanted ignition inside charged propellant under accident stimulus.Secondly, evaluates the risk of a shell crevice in a solid rocket motor(SRM) under a falling or overturning scene. In the present study, an innovative visual crevice extrusion experiment is designed using a dropweight apparatus. The dynamic responses of NEPE propellant during extrusion loading, including compaction and compression, rapid shear flow into the crevice, stress concentration, and ignition reaction, have been firstly observed using a high-performance high-speed camera. The ignition reaction is observed in the triangular region of the NEPE propellant sample above the crevice when the drop weight velocity was 1.90 m/s. Based on the user material subroutine interface UMAT provided by finite element software LS-DYNA, a viscoelastic-plastic model and dual ignition criterion related to plastic shear dissipation are developed and applied to the local ignition response analysis under crevice extrusion conditions. The stress concentration occurs in the crevice location of the propellant sample, the shear stress is relatively large, the effective plastic work is relatively large, and the ignition reaction is easy to occur. When the sample thickness decreases from 5 mm to 2.5 mm, the shear stress increases from 22.3 MPa to 28.6 MPa, the critical value of effective plastic work required for ignition is shortened from 1280 μs to 730 μs, and the triangular area is easily triggering an ignition reaction. The propellant sample with a small thickness is more likely to stress concentration, resulting in large shear stress and effective work, triggering an ignition reaction.展开更多

Therefore, understanding the effects of NPBA on the deformation and damage evolution of the NEPE propellant is fundamental to material design and applications. This paper studies the uniaxial tensile and stress relaxation responses of the NEPE propellant with different amounts of NPBA. The damage evolution in terms of interface debonding is further investigated using a cohesive-zone model(CZM). Experimental results show that the initial modulus and strength of the NEPE propellant increase with the increasing amount of NPBA while the elongation decreases. Meanwhile, the relaxation rate slows down and a higher long-term equilibrium modulus is reached. Experimental and numerical analyses indicate that interface debonding and crack propagation along filler-matrix interface are the dominant damage mechanism for the samples with a low amount of NPBA, while damage localization and crack advancement through the matrix are predominant for the ones with a high amount of NPBA. Finally, crosslinking density tests and simulation results also show that the effect of the bonding agent is interfacial rather than due to the overall crosslinking density change of the binder.展开更多

It is assumed that the elasticity of the material at the interface effectively determines the wavelength, because explosive welding is basically a solid-state welding process. To this end, an analytical model of elastic hydrodynamic instabilities is proposed, and the most unstable mode is selected in the solid phase. Similar approaches have been widely used to study the interfacial behavior of solid metals in high-energy-density physics. By comparing the experimental and theoretical results, it is concluded that thermal softening, which significantly reduces the shear modulus, is necessary and sufficient for successful welding. The thermal softening is verified by theoretical analysis of the increase in temperature due to the impacting and sliding of the flyer and base plates, and some experimental observations are qualitatively validated. In summary, the combined effect of the KH and RT instabilities in solids determines the wavy morphology, and our theoretical results are in good qualitative agreement with experimental and numerical observations.展开更多

The goals were to seek improved practical applications. Most of the studies were based on density functional theory. Many studies also used programs, such as VASP (Vienna Abinitio simulation package) and CPMD. The computational procedures used plane wave approximations. This needed studies with selection of K points and cutoff energy selection to assure convergence in energy calculations. Observations and analysis of papers published from 2006 to 2022 indicate that the cutoff energies were selected arbitrarily without any needed convergence studies. By selecting a published 2006 paper, this paper has clearly showed that an arbitrary selection of cutoff energy, such as 460 eV, is not in the range of, cutoff energies that assure convergence of energy calculations, with ab initio methods and have indicated correction procedures. .展开更多

The enhanced hydrogen evolution reaction activity results from less electron occupying H 1 s-Se 4 pzanti-bonding states, which is well correlated with the pzband center level. Importantly, the universal scalling law was proposed to descript the evolution of hydrogen adsorption free energy including both doping and strain effects. Moreover, with appropriate band alignment, optical absorption, and carriers separation ability, Zn doped In Se monolayer is considered as a promising candidate of visible-light photocatalyst for hydrogen production.展开更多

文摘Understanding and characterizing rough contact and wavy surfaces are essential for developing effective strategies to mitigate wear, optimize lubrication, and enhance the overall performance and durability of mechanical systems. The sliding friction contact problem between a thermoelectric(TE)half-plane and a rigid solid with a periodic wavy surface is the focus of this investigation. To simplify the problem,we utilize mixed boundary conditions, leading to a set of singular integral equations(SIEs)with the Hilbert kernels. The analytical solutions for the energy flux and electric current density are obtained by the variable transform method in the context of the electric and temperature field. The contact problem for the elastic field is transformed into the second-kind SIE and solved by the Jacobi polynomials.Notably, the smoothness of the wavy contact surface ensures that there are no singularities in the surface contact stress, and ensures that it remains free at the contact edge.Based on the plane strain theory of elasticity, the analysis primarily examines the correlation between the applied load and the effective contact area. The distribution of the normal stress on the surface with or without TE loads is discussed in detail for various friction coefficients.Furthermore, the obtained results indicate that the in-plane stress decreases behind the trailing edge, while it increases ahead of the trailing edge when subjected to TE loads.

文摘Friction and wear phenomenon is a complex nonlinear system, and it is also a significant problem in the process of metal cutting. In order to systematically analyze the friction and wear process of tool material-workpiece material friction pair in the cutting process of high hardness alloy steel under different lubrication conditions, the chaotic characteristics of friction process between high hardness alloy steel and cemented carbide under the lubrication C60 nano-particles fluid are studied based on the chaos theory.Firstly, the friction and wear experiments of the friction pair between high hardness alloy steel and cemented carbide tool are carried out based on the ring-block friction and wear tester, and the results of friction force signal in time domain and wear width are obtained. Then, the friction signals in time domain are processed and transformed based on phase space reconstruction and recurrence plot theory, and the recurrence plots of different experimental groups under different lubrication conditions are generated. The evolution law of recurrence plot is further observed and studied, and the recursive quantitative index is analyzed. Finally, the cutting experiments of tool wear are carried out.The results show that the proposed method can intuitively and accurately reveal the wear evolution process and the wear feature identification law of the tool material-high hardness alloy steel pair under different lubrication conditions.Meanwhile,it is found that when the concentration of C60 nanoparticles is 200∼300 ppm,the stability of the friction pair system is best. The proposed method can provide a strategy for wear prediction in cutting process, and provide a theoretical basis and technical support for antifriction lubrication methods in practical cutting applications.
文摘In this paper,to study the mechanical responses of a solid propellant subjected to ultrahigh acceleration overload during the gun-launch process, specifically designed projectile flight tests with an onboard measurement system were performed. Two projectiles containing dummy HTPB propellant grains were successfully recovered after the flight tests with an ultrahigh acceleration overload value of 8100 g.The onboard-measured time-resolved axial displacement, contact stress and overload values were successfully obtained and analysed.Uniaxial compression tests of the dummy HTPB propellant used in the gunlaunched tests were carried out at low and intermediate strain rates to characterize the propellant's dynamic properties.A linear viscoelastic constitutive model was employed and applied in finite-element simulations of the projectile-launching process.During the launch process, the dummy propellant grain exhibited large deformation due to the high acceleration overload, possibly leading to friction between the motor case and propellant grain. The calculated contact stress showed good agreement with the experimental results, though discrepancies in the overall displacement of the dummy propellant grain were observed. The dynamic mechanical response process of the dummy propellant grain was analysed in detail. The results can be used to estimate the structural integrity of the analysed dummy propellant grain during the gun-launch process.

文摘Due to the novel applications of flexible pipes conveying fluid in the field of soft robotics and biomedicine, the investigations on the mechanical responses of the pipes have attracted considerable attention. The fluid-structure interaction(FSI)between the pipe with a curved shape and the time-varying internal fluid flow brings a great challenge to the revelation of the dynamical behaviors of flexible pipes, especially when the pipe is highly flexible and usually undergoes large deformations. In this work, the geometrically exact model(GEM)for a curved cantilevered pipe conveying pulsating fluid is developed based on the extended Hamilton's principle. The stability of the curved pipe with three different subtended angles is examined with the consideration of steady fluid flow.Specific attention is concentrated on the large-deformation resonance of circular pipes conveying pulsating fluid, which is often encountered in practical engineering.By constructing bifurcation diagrams, oscillating shapes, phase portraits, time traces, and Poincarémaps, the dynamic responses of the curved pipe under various system parameters are revealed. The mean flow velocity of the pulsating fluid is chosen to be either subcritical or supercritical. The numerical results show that the curved pipe conveying pulsating fluid can exhibit rich dynamical behaviors, including periodic and quasi-periodic motions. It is also found that the preferred instability type of a cantilevered curved pipe conveying steady fluid is mainly in the flutter of the second mode. For a moderate value of the mass ratio, however,a third-mode flutter may occur, which is quite different from that of a straight pipe system.
文摘With the increasing precision of guidance, the impact of autopilot dynamic characteristics and target maneuvering abilities on precision guidance is becoming more and more significant. In order to reduce or even eliminate the autopilot dynamic operation and the target maneuvering influence, this paper suggests a guidance system model involving a novel integral sliding mode guidance law(ISMGL).The method utilizes the dynamic characteristics and the impact angle, combined with a sliding mode surface scheme that includes the desired line-ofsight angle,line-of-sight angular rate, and second-order differential of the angular line-of-sight.At the same time, the evaluation scenario considere the target maneuvering in the system as the external disturbance, and the non-homogeneous disturbance observer estimate the target maneuvering as a compensation of the guidance command. The proposed system’s stability is proven based on the Lyapunov stability criterion. The simulations reveale that ISMGL effectively intercepted large maneuvering targets and present a smaller miss-distance compared with traditional linear sliding mode guidance laws and trajectory shaping guidance laws.Furthermore,ISMGL has a more accurate impact angle and fast convergence speed.

文摘Introducing Neutral Polymeric bonding agents(NPBA) into the Nitrate Ester Plasticized Polyether(NEPE)propellant could improve the adhesion between filler/matrix interface, thereby contributing to the development of new generations of the NEPE propellant with better mechanical properties. Finally, crosslinking density tests and simulation results also show that the effect of the bonding agent is interfacial rather than due to the overall crosslinking density change of the binder.

文摘By considering the joint effects of the Kelvin-Helmholtz(KH) and Rayleigh-Taylor(RT) instabilities, this paper presents an interpretation of the wavy patterns that occur in explosive welding. In summary, the combined effect of the KH and RT instabilities in solids determines the wavy morphology, and our theoretical results are in good qualitative agreement with experimental and numerical observations.

文摘Al Si10Mg porous protective structure often produces different damage forms under compressive loading, and these damage modes affect its protective function. In order to well meet the service requirements, there is an urgent need to comprehensively understand the mechanical behavior and response mechanism of AlSi10Mg porous structures under compressive loading. In this paper,Al Si10Mg porous structures with three kinds of volume fractions are designed and optimized to meet the requirements of high-impact,strong-energy absorption, and lightweight characteristics. The mechanical behaviors of AlSi10Mg porous structures, including the stress-strain relationship, structural bearing state, deformation and damage modes, and energy absorption characteristics, were obtained through experimental studies at different loading rates. The damage pattern of the damage section indicates that AlSi10Mg porous structures have both ductile and brittle mechanical properties.Numerical simulation studies show that the AlSi10Mg porous structure undergoes shear damage due to relative misalignment along the diagonal cross-section,and the damage location is almost at 45°to the load direction, which is the most direct cause of its structural damage, revealing the damage mechanism of AlSi10Mg porous structures under the compressive load. The normalized energy absorption model constructed in the paper well interprets the energy absorption state of Al Si10Mg porous structures and gives the sensitive location of the structures, and the results of this paper provide important references for peers in structural design and optimization.
文摘The experimental research programs of 1950s, to understand the adsorption of CO on W surfaces, changed to ab initio studies in 2000s. By selecting a published 2006 paper, this paper has clearly showed that an arbitrary selection of cutoff energy, such as 460 eV, is not in the range of, cutoff energies that assure convergence of energy calculations, with ab initio methods and have indicated correction procedures. .

文摘With the development of global urbanization, the utilization of underground space is more critical and attractive for civil purposes.Various shapes of shield tunnels have been gradually proposed to cope with different geological conditions and service purposes of underground structures.Generally, reducing the burial depth of shield tunnel is conducive to construction and cost saving. However, extremely small overburden depth cannot provide sufficient uplift resistance to maintain the stability and serviceability of the tunnel. To this end, this paper firstly reviewed the status of deriving the minimum sand over-burden depth of circular shield tunnel using mechanical equilibrium(ME)method. It revealed that the estimated depth is rather conservative. Then, the uplift resistance mechanism of both circular and rectangular tunnels was deduced theoretically and verified with the model tests. The theoretical uplift resistance is consistent with the experimental values, indicating the feasibility of the proposed equations.Furthermore, the determination of the minimum soil overburden depth of rectangular shield tunnel under various working conditions was presented through integrated ME method, which can provide more reasonable estimations of suggested tunnel burial depth for practical construction.Additionally, optimizations were made for calculating the uplift resistance, and the soil thickness providing uplift resistance is suggested to be adjusted according to the testing results. The results can provide reference for the design and construction of various shapes of shield tunnels in urban underground space exploitation.

文摘Inflatable wing has significant application value in the design of loitering munitions because of its advantages such as lightweight and foldability. However, due to the flexible characteristics, aeroelastic behaviors of inflatable wings such as flutter are nonnegligible in flight.By designing a certain angle between the inflatable beam and the wing span, the structural dynamic and even the aeroelastic performance of the inflatable wing can be effectively improved.Based on the analysis of the mechanical and geometric characteristics of the inflatable structure,a new inflatable wing with sweep arranged inflatable beams is proposed, and the main design variables and methods are analyzed. For purpose of investigating the aeroelastic performance of the swept baffled inflatable wing, the modal behaviors by considering the wet mode are studied. In consideration of the deficiencies of the traditional wet modal analysis method,by introducing the influence on the additional stiffness of flow field,an added massstiffness method is proposed in this paper, and the advantages are verified by ground vibration experiments. On this basis, the effects of baffles sweep angle, pressure, and boundary conditions on the modal parameters and aeroelastic performance of inflatable wing are analyzed. The results show that the aeroelastic performance of the inflatable wing can be designed by changing the baffles sweep angle, which is enlightened for the aeroelastic tailoring design on inflatable wings.

文摘Peridynamics(PD)is a powerful method to simulate the discontinuous problems in civil engineering. However,it may take a lot of effort to implement the material constitutive models into PD program for solving a broad range of problems.OpenSees is an open source software which includes a versatile material library and has been widely used by researchers and engineers in civil engineering. In this context, the paper presents a simple but effective approach to integrate PD with OpenSees by using a Client-Server(CS)software integration technique, such that the existing material constitutive models in OpenSees can be directly used by PD.Two applications are presented to verify the new PD-OpenSees platform. The first one is a plate with a pre-crack subject to horizontal load simulated using a three-dimension(3D)multi-yield-surfaces plasticity model, and the second one is a concrete block with a rectangular hole subject to a uniaxial loading condition simulated using a 3D Cap plasticity model. It shows that the generation/propagation of cracks of the elastoplastic materials(e.g.,concrete and soil)can be analyzed by combing PD and three-dimensional plasticity constitutive models without compiling/linking these complex material models into PD program. Thus, the integrated PDOpenSees platform presented herein is potentially capable to solve a wide range of complex problems in civil engineering.

文摘Fragments and blast waves generated by explosions pose a serious threat to protective structures. In this paper, the impact resistance of polyurea-coated steel plate under complex dynamic loading is analyzed and designed for improving comprehensive ballistic and blast resistance using the newly established computational evaluating model.Firstly, according to the thickness and placement effects of the coating on the impact resistance, the steel-core sandwich plates are designed, which are proved to own outstanding comprehensive ballistic and blast resistance.Besides, the distribution diagram of ballistic and blast resistance for different polyurea-coated steel plates is given to guide the design of protective structures applying in different explosion scenarios.Furthermore, the dynamic response of designed plates under two scenarios with combined fragments and blast loading is studied. The results show that the synergistic effect of the combined loading reduces both the ballistic and blast resistance of the polyurea-coated steel plate.Besides, the acting sequence of the fragments and blast affects the structural protective performance heavily. It is found that the first loading inducing structural large deformation or damage is dominant. When fragments impact first, the excellent unit-thickness ballistic performance of the structural front part is strongly needed for improving the comprehensive ballistic and blast resistance.

文摘Recently, two dimensional In Se attracts great attentions as potential hydrogen production photocatalysts. Here, comprehensive investigations on the hydrogen evolution reaction activity of In Se monolayer with3 d transition metal doping and biaxial strain were performed based on the density functional theory.Transition metal dopants significantly increase the bonding strength between H and Se, and then adjust the hydrogen adsorption free energy to 0.02 e V by Zn doping. Moreover, with appropriate band alignment, optical absorption, and carriers separation ability, Zn doped In Se monolayer is considered as a promising candidate of visible-light photocatalyst for hydrogen production.
