Mutual fund investment continues to play a very important role in the world financial markets especially in developing economies where the capital market is not very matured and tolerant of small scale investors.The t...Mutual fund investment continues to play a very important role in the world financial markets especially in developing economies where the capital market is not very matured and tolerant of small scale investors.The total mutual fund asset globally as at the end of 2016 was in excess of$40.4 trillion.Despite its success there are uncertainties as to whether mutual funds in Ghana obtain optimal performance relative to their counterparts in United States,Luxembourg,Ireland,France,Australia,United Kingdom,Japan,China and Brazil.We contribute to the extant literature on mutual fund performance evaluation using a collection of more sophisticated econometric models.We selected six continuous historical years that is 2010-2011,2012-2013 and 2014-2015 to construct a mutual fund performance evaluation model utilizing the fast adaptive neural network classifier(FANNC),and to compare our results with those from an enhanced resilient back propagation neural networks(ERBPNN)model.Our FANNC model outperformed the existing models in terms of processing time and error rate.This makes it ideal for financial application that involves large volume of data and routine updates.展开更多
Evaluating the functional boundary of different types of innovation policy instruments and their mixes on innovation performance of enterprises is an important but unresolved key issue.This paper,based on the systemat...Evaluating the functional boundary of different types of innovation policy instruments and their mixes on innovation performance of enterprises is an important but unresolved key issue.This paper,based on the systematically carding the quantization of 155 innovation policies issued by Shenzhen governmental departments from 2011 to 2019,analyzed the characteristics from different types of innovation instruments and their mixes.The results show that Shenzhen governmental has constantly enriched innovation policy instruments for encouraging enterprise innovation,but there are structural unbalances in the issued innovation policy manifested as follows:firstly supply-side policy and environmental-side policy were promulgated more than demand-side policy;secondly the specific instruments employed by Shenzhen governmental were also uneven in different type of innovation policy,like supply-side policy focused on the instruments of government procurement and R&D outsourcing,demand-side policy employed human resource training,innovation infrastructure and fiscal support most,and environmental-side policy main used target planning,intellectual property protection and financial support.This study expands and understanding empirical implementation of different reginal innovation policy instruments,and has implication for Shenzhen governmental in improving the applicability ability of policies in the enterprises innovation.展开更多

The support vector machine(SVM)is a classical machine learning method.Both the hinge loss and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)penalty are usually used in traditional SVMs.However,the hinge loss i...The support vector machine(SVM)is a classical machine learning method.Both the hinge loss and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)penalty are usually used in traditional SVMs.However,the hinge loss is not differentiable,and the LASSO penalty does not have the Oracle property.In this paper,the huberized loss is combined with non-convex penalties to obtain a model that has the advantages of both the computational simplicity and the Oracle property,contributing to higher accuracy than traditional SVMs.It is experimentally demonstrated that the two non-convex huberized-SVM methods,smoothly clipped absolute deviation huberized-SVM(SCAD-HSVM)and minimax concave penalty huberized-SVM(MCP-HSVM),outperform the traditional SVM method in terms of the prediction accuracy and classifier performance.They are also superior in terms of variable selection,especially when there is a high linear correlation between the variables.When they are applied to the prediction of listed companies,the variables that can affect and predict financial distress are accurately filtered out.Among all the indicators,the indicators per share have the greatest influence while those of solvency have the weakest influence.Listed companies can assess the financial situation with the indicators screened by our algorithm and make an early warning of their possible financial distress in advance with higher precision.展开更多
This study investigates the influence of fintech on developments in China’s financial sector across 290 cities and 31 provinces between 2011 and 2018.Using a two-stage least squares instrumental variable regression a...This study investigates the influence of fintech on developments in China’s financial sector across 290 cities and 31 provinces between 2011 and 2018.Using a two-stage least squares instrumental variable regression approach and correcting for cross-sectional dependency,simultaneity,and endogeneity of regressors,the results establish a positive link between fintech and financial development.Our findings show that fintech supports financial sector development by enhancing access(loans),depth(deposits),and savings within China’s financial institutions.We also show that the emergence of fintech in the area of financial regulation(regulatory technology:regtech)can significantly improve financial development outcomes.Therefore,it is imperative for regulators to pursue policies that balance growth in the fintech sector while mitigating the associated risks.In addition,we use the difference-in-differences approach to show that policy measures such as interest rates liberalization also positively impacted finan-cial development during the analysis period.In our conclusion,we suggest a policy framework for balanced fintech sector growth in developing countries.展开更多
To examine the interdependency and evolution of Pakistan’s stock market,we consider the cross-correlation coefficients of daily stock returns belonging to the blue chip Karachi stock exchange(KSE-100)index.Using the ...To examine the interdependency and evolution of Pakistan’s stock market,we consider the cross-correlation coefficients of daily stock returns belonging to the blue chip Karachi stock exchange(KSE-100)index.Using the minimum spanning tree network-based method,we extend the financial network literature by examining the topological properties of the network and generating six minimum spanning tree networks around three general elections in Pakistan.Our results reveal a star-like structure after the general elections of 2018 and before those in 2008,and a tree-like structure otherwise.We also highlight key nodes,the presence of different clusters,and compare the differences between the three elections.Additionally,the sectorial centrality measures reveal economic expansion in three industrial sectors—cement,oil and gas,and fertilizers.Moreover,a strong overall intermediary role of the fertilizer sector is observed.The results indicate a structural change in the stock market network due to general elections.Consequently,through this analysis,policy makers can focus on monitoring key nodes around general elections to estimate stock market stability,while local and international investors can form optimal diversification strategies.展开更多

The exploration/exploitation perspective is a well-known concept in the strategic management field;however,it has seldom been used to explore and analyze strategy at a national level.This study utilizes this perspecti...The exploration/exploitation perspective is a well-known concept in the strategic management field;however,it has seldom been used to explore and analyze strategy at a national level.This study utilizes this perspective to analyze China's eco-innovation mode in response to climate change.By categorizing eco-innovation into radical and incremental eco-innovation,we examine the relationship between these concepts using Y02 patents as a proxy and panel data from 30 Chinese provinces from 2004 to 2015.The results show that eco-innovation as a whole as well as both radical and incremental innovations are drivers for reducing carbon emissions.Furthermore,contradictory to most previous empirical results related to the complementarity hypothesis,we find a complementary relationship between radical and incremental eco-innovation.These results collectively represent China's unique eco-innovation mode,confirming the assumed diversity of eco-innovation models in different contexts.The results also show the significant positive effects of economic development,urbanization level,industrial structure,and China's opening up on carbon emissions,indicating that economic and social development have not yet been completely dissociated from carbon emissions in China.展开更多
When conducting company performance evaluations,the traditional method cannot reflect the distribution characteristics of the company’s operating conditions in the entire securities market.Gephi is an efficient tool ...When conducting company performance evaluations,the traditional method cannot reflect the distribution characteristics of the company’s operating conditions in the entire securities market.Gephi is an efficient tool for data analysis and visualization in the era of big data.It can convert the evaluation results of all listed companies into nodes and edges,and directly display them in the form of graphs,thus making up for the defects of traditional methods.This paper will take all the listed companies in the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchange as the analysis object.First uses tushare and web crawlers to collect the financial statement data of these companies.And then,uses the Economic Value Added model to calculate the EVA of each listed company and build graph data.Next,import the graph data into gephi to generate the distribution graph of all listed companies’performance,and summarize the distribution characteristics of business performance.Finally,select a listed company that you want to analyze in detail,using the traditional DuPont analysis method to conduct micro level visualization analysis of the business performance to find the main factors affecting the company’s operating performance.Incorporating gephi into traditional performance analysis methods will make the results of traditional analytical methods more effective and complete.展开更多
China's technological efforts to tackle climate change have lasted for many years. It is necessary to test the effect of these efforts with quantitative method. To be exact, whether and how China's low-carbon ...China's technological efforts to tackle climate change have lasted for many years. It is necessary to test the effect of these efforts with quantitative method. To be exact, whether and how China's low-carbon technology innovation responds to climate change should be tested. Based on the2004-2015 panel data of 30 provinces in China, we use the method of ESDA analyzing the spatial correlation of China's low-carbon innovation technology. Furthermore, we use the spatial Durbin model empirically analyzing the spatial spillover effects. The results obtained are as follows: first,supply and demand of Chinese low-carbon innovation has some deviation in the spatial distribution. The low-carbon technology innovation as the supply factor shows the characteristics of expanding from the east to the west. Innovation in eastern China has always been the most active, but innovative activities in the middle and western China are gradually decreased.However, carbon emissions have the characteristics of moving westward, implying the change of technology demand different from technology supply. Second, China's low-carbon innovation actively responds to the trend of climate change, indicating China's technological efforts have paid off. However, the spatial spillover effects are not significant, showing that the efforts in each region of China still work for himself. Third, environmental regulation and market pull are important factors for low-carbon technology innovation. Among them, both supporting policy and inhibitory policy have significant impact on the local low-carbon technology innovation, but no significant spatial spillover effects. It shows that environmental policies in different regions are competitive and lack of demonstration effects. Economic growth and export as market pull have higher level of effect on low-carbon technology innovation for both local and adjacent areas.Some policy implications are proposed based on these results finally.展开更多

文摘To examine the interdependency and evolution of Pakistan’s stock market,we consider the cross-correlation coefficients of daily stock returns belonging to the blue chip Karachi stock exchange(KSE-100)index.Using the minimum spanning tree network-based method,we extend the financial network literature by examining the topological properties of the network and generating six minimum spanning tree networks around three general elections in Pakistan.Our results reveal a star-like structure after the general elections of 2018 and before those in 2008,and a tree-like structure otherwise.We also highlight key nodes,the presence of different clusters,and compare the differences between the three elections.Additionally,the sectorial centrality measures reveal economic expansion in three industrial sectors—cement,oil and gas,and fertilizers.Moreover,a strong overall intermediary role of the fertilizer sector is observed.The results indicate a structural change in the stock market network due to general elections.Consequently,through this analysis,policy makers can focus on monitoring key nodes around general elections to estimate stock market stability,while local and international investors can form optimal diversification strategies.

文摘Industrial and academic interest in how to effectively manage technology resources is increasing as it becomes more and more important.Effective managing of technology resources depends on technology management system,and thus understanding how such system evolves becomes an ongoing research topic.Based on the self-organization theory,this paper constructs an evolution model of technology management system.The simulation results show that the evolution of each of the technology management subsystem is affected by the knowledge growth rate of its own,and it is also affected by the coupling and synergy relationship with other subsystems.Moreover,the coupling and synergy relationship can make the speed of evolution higher than the knowledge growth rate of the subsystem itself.

文摘The exploration/exploitation perspective is a well-known concept in the strategic management field;however,it has seldom been used to explore and analyze strategy at a national level.This study utilizes this perspective to analyze China's eco-innovation mode in response to climate change.By categorizing eco-innovation into radical and incremental eco-innovation,we examine the relationship between these concepts using Y02 patents as a proxy and panel data from 30 Chinese provinces from 2004 to 2015.The results show that eco-innovation as a whole as well as both radical and incremental innovations are drivers for reducing carbon emissions.Furthermore,contradictory to most previous empirical results related to the complementarity hypothesis,we find a complementary relationship between radical and incremental eco-innovation.These results collectively represent China's unique eco-innovation mode,confirming the assumed diversity of eco-innovation models in different contexts.The results also show the significant positive effects of economic development,urbanization level,industrial structure,and China's opening up on carbon emissions,indicating that economic and social development have not yet been completely dissociated from carbon emissions in China.

文摘When conducting company performance evaluations,the traditional method cannot reflect the distribution characteristics of the company’s operating conditions in the entire securities market.Gephi is an efficient tool for data analysis and visualization in the era of big data.It can convert the evaluation results of all listed companies into nodes and edges,and directly display them in the form of graphs,thus making up for the defects of traditional methods.This paper will take all the listed companies in the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchange as the analysis object.First uses tushare and web crawlers to collect the financial statement data of these companies.And then,uses the Economic Value Added model to calculate the EVA of each listed company and build graph data.Next,import the graph data into gephi to generate the distribution graph of all listed companies’performance,and summarize the distribution characteristics of business performance.Finally,select a listed company that you want to analyze in detail,using the traditional DuPont analysis method to conduct micro level visualization analysis of the business performance to find the main factors affecting the company’s operating performance.Incorporating gephi into traditional performance analysis methods will make the results of traditional analytical methods more effective and complete.

文摘China's technological efforts to tackle climate change have lasted for many years. It is necessary to test the effect of these efforts with quantitative method. To be exact, whether and how China's low-carbon technology innovation responds to climate change should be tested. Based on the2004-2015 panel data of 30 provinces in China, we use the method of ESDA analyzing the spatial correlation of China's low-carbon innovation technology. Furthermore, we use the spatial Durbin model empirically analyzing the spatial spillover effects. The results obtained are as follows: first,supply and demand of Chinese low-carbon innovation has some deviation in the spatial distribution. The low-carbon technology innovation as the supply factor shows the characteristics of expanding from the east to the west. Innovation in eastern China has always been the most active, but innovative activities in the middle and western China are gradually decreased.However, carbon emissions have the characteristics of moving westward, implying the change of technology demand different from technology supply. Second, China's low-carbon innovation actively responds to the trend of climate change, indicating China's technological efforts have paid off. However, the spatial spillover effects are not significant, showing that the efforts in each region of China still work for himself. Third, environmental regulation and market pull are important factors for low-carbon technology innovation. Among them, both supporting policy and inhibitory policy have significant impact on the local low-carbon technology innovation, but no significant spatial spillover effects. It shows that environmental policies in different regions are competitive and lack of demonstration effects. Economic growth and export as market pull have higher level of effect on low-carbon technology innovation for both local and adjacent areas.Some policy implications are proposed based on these results finally.
文摘A novel coordination polymer [Mn(bcp)(bib)0.5]n(1, H2 bcp = 1,3-bis(4-carboxyphenoxy)propane and bib = 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-yl)benzene) was synthesized under hydrothermal conditions, and was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses and further characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy and powder X-ray diffraction(PXRD).Complex [Mn(bcp)(bib)0.5]n(1) is of triclinic system, space group P1 with a = 7.320(5), b =11.871(5), c = 13.932(5)?,α= 111.125(5)°,β= 99.658(5)°,γ= 101.104(5)°, Z = 2, V= 1070.3(9)?3 Mr = 474.34, Dc = 1.472 g/cm^3, F(000)= 488,μ= 0.660 mm^-1, the final R = 0.0353 and wR =0.0.984 for 4373 observed reflections with I > 2σ(I). Structure analysis reveals that complex 1 displays a rare 2 D + 2 D → 2 D polyrataxane topology. Moreover, the luminescent property for 1 was investigated at room temperature.

文摘Through a series of exploration based on PSR framework model,for the purpose of building a suitable Chongqing agricultural nonpoint source pollution evaluation index system model framework,combined with the presence of Chongqing specific agro-environmental issues,we build a agricultural non-point source pollution assessment index system,and then study the agricultural system pressure,agro-environmental status and human response in total 3 major categories,develope an agricultural non-point source pollution evaluation index consisting of 3 criteria indicators and 19 indicators. As can be seen from the analysis,pressures and responses tend to increase and decrease linearly,state and complex have large fluctuations,and their fluctuations are similar mainly due to the elimination of pressures and impact,increasing the impact for agricultural non-point source pollution.
文摘The new type of urbanization has always been regarded as an important force to promote economic and social development and an important means to realize agricultural modernization.In order to analyze the problems existing in the process of urbanization in Qinghai Province,5 second-level indexes and 17 third-level indexes were constructed to establish a comprehensive evaluation index system of urbanization development level,and the entropy method was used to analyze the urbanization level of Qinghai Province from 1999 to 2018.The results show that the urbanization of Qinghai Province can be divided into three stages:in the first stage(from 1999 to 2005),the urbanization of Qinghai Province was basically in a stage of slow development;in the second stage(from 2006 to 2011),the urbanization of Qinghai Province was in the stage of slow growth;in the third stage(from 2012 to 2018),urbanization in Qinghai Province was in the stage of rapid and high-quality development.

文摘With the effect of rural toilet improvement and villagers’satisfaction as the evaluation targets,the evaluation index system was constructed by mastering the actual situation of rural toilet improvement in Huzhu County,including villagers’acceptability of rural toilets,construction of toilets after improvement,treatment methods and effects of fecal sewage,management of toilet equipment after toilet improvement.The indexes were assigned with weights by expert scoring,and the evaluation model of the effect of rural toilet improvement in Huzhu County was established by entropy weight method and fuzzy evaluation analysis method.The result is of great significance to the follow-up management and protection of rural toilets.
