Twenty years of wind data from 1989 to 2008 were collected from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) database and the blended wind data of the Quick Scatterometer (QSCAT) satellite data set and re-analysis data from the United States National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP). Several typhoons were taken into account and merged with the background wind fields from the ECMWF or QSCAT/NCEP database. The 20-year data of significant wave height were calculated with the unstructured-grid version of the third-generation wind wave model Simulating WAves Nearshore (SWAN) under extreme wind process conditions. The Gumbel distribution was used for univariate and marginal distributions. The distribution parameters were estimated with the method of L-moments. Based on the marginal distributions, the joint probability distributions, the associated return periods, and the conditional probability distributions were obtained. The GH copula function was found to be optimal according to the ordinary least squares (OLS) test. The results show that wind waves are the prevailing type of wave in the Bohai Bay.展开更多

The OWT is located on a large-scale prestressing bucket foundation constructed by an integrated installation technique. According to the simulation results, under the ship collision, a certain range of plastic zone appears within a local area of arc transition structure of the bucket foundation, and the concrete plastic zone is seriously damaged. As the stress level of OWT tower is relatively low, the OWT tower is less affected. A great inertial force is generated at the top of the OWT tower as the mass of nacelle and blades is up to 400 t. The displacement of the tower is in the opposite direction of the ship collision at the end of 1 s under the action of inertial force. There is only a minor damage in the ship bow. Most of the kinetic energy is transformed into the plastic dissipation and absorbed by the arc transition structure of bucket foundation.展开更多

Based on 3D geological modeling and surface block identifying methods, an integrated methodology framework was proposed and realized to analyze the stability of surface blocks in rock slopes. The surface blocks cut by geological structures, fissures or free faces could be identified subjected to the four principles of closure, completeness, uniqueness and validity. The factor of safety(FOS)of single key block was calculated by the limit equilibrium method. If there were two or more connected blocks, they were defined as a block-group. The FOS of a block-group was computed by the Sarma method. The proposed approach was applied to an actual rock slope of a hydropower project, and some possible instable blocks were demonstrated and analyzed visually. The obtained results on the key blocks or block-groups provide essential information for determining potential instable region of rock slopes and designing effective support scheme in advance.展开更多

The simulation of sand wave evolution comprises two steps: 1) a regional-scale model is configured first to simulate the ocean hydrodynamics, i.e., tides and tidal currents, and 2) the transient behavior of sand waves is simulated in a small computational domain under the time-variant currents extracted from the large model. The evolution of sand waves on the continental shelf in the Beibu Gulf is specifically investigated. The numerical results of the two-year evolution of sand waves under normal sea conditions compare well with the field survey data. The transient behavior of sand waves in individual months shows that the sand waves are more stable in April and October than that in other months, which can be selected as the windows for seabed operations. The effects of sediment properties, including settling velocity, critical shear stress and surface erosion rate, on sand wave evolution are also analyzed. Then, the typhoon-induced currents are further superimposed on the tidal currents as the extreme weather conditions. Sand waves with the average wavelength generally have more active behavior than smaller or larger sand waves. The characteristics of the evolution of sand waves in an individual typhoon process are quite different for different hydrodynamic combinations. For the storm conditions, i.e., the real combination and maximum combination cases, the sand waves experience a significant migration together with a damping in height due to the dominant suspended sediment transport. For the mild conditions, i.e., the pure tidal current and minimum combination cases, the sand waves migrate less, but the heights continue growing due to the dominant bedload transport.展开更多

Traditional method, which is carried out mainly by means of twodimensional drawings and textures, is not efficient and intuitive enough to analyze the whole project and reflect its spatial relationship. Three-dimensional visual simulation provides an advanced technical means of solving this problem. In this paper, triangular irregular network (TIN) model simplified by non-uniform rational B-splines (NURBS) technique was used to establish the digital terrain model (DTM) of a super large region. Simulation of dynamic water surface was realized by combining noise function with sine wave superposition method. The results show that wind waves are the prevailing type of wave in the Bohai Bay.

文摘By using ABAQUS/Explicit, the dynamic process of an offshore wind turbine(OWT) stricken by a ship of 5000DWT in the front direction is simulated. Most of the kinetic energy is transformed into the plastic dissipation and absorbed by the arc transition structure of bucket foundation.

文摘Suction foundations are generally installed with negative pressures to overcome the resistance of soils and complete the penetration, but excessive negative pressures are also avoided to cause seepage damages. In this paper, the model test method was used to analyze the movement characteristics of multi-bucket foundations in the process of sinking in sand, and the common calculation methods of sinking resistances are verified. The critical negative pressure corresponding to the seepage failure of foundation was determined under the action of increasing negative pressure step by step and the characteristics of soil failure were studied. The calculation formula of critical suction in sand was verified in application, and according to the test results, the value of seepage coefficient was modified, which provides an example for the study of suction foundation in sand soils.

文摘Numerical simulation of concrete-faced rockfill dams(CFRDs)considering the spatial variability of rockfill has become a popular research topic in recent years. In order to determine uncertain rockfill properties efficiently and reliably, this study developed an uncertainty inversion analysis method for rockfill material parameters using the stacking ensemble strategy and Jaya optimizer. The comprehensive implementation process of the proposed model was described with an illustrative CFRD example.First, the surrogate model method using the stacking ensemble algorithm was used to conduct the Monte Carlo stochastic finite element calculations with reduced computational cost and improved accuracy.Afterwards, the Jaya algorithm was used to inversely calculate the combination of the coefficient of variation of rockfill material parameters. This optimizer obtained higher accuracy and more significant uncertainty reduction than traditional optimizers.Overall, the developed model effectively identified the random parameters of rockfill materials. This study provided scientific references for uncertainty analysis of CFRDs.In addition, the proposed method can be applied to other similar engineering structures.

文摘Soda residue(SR)is a type of industrial waste produced in the soda process with the ammonia-soda method.Applying SR to backfilling solves the land occupation and environmental pollution problems in coastal areas and saves material costs for foundation engineering. The strength characteristics of soda residue soil(SRS)under different consolidation conditions are the key points to be solved in the engineering application of SRS.Triaxial compression tests were performed on the undisturbed SRS of Tianjin Port. The shear properties of SRS under different consolidation conditions were then discussed.Meanwhile,a structural strength model(SSM)based on Mohr-Coulomb theory was proposed.SSM reflects the influence of soil structure on undrained strength(Cu)and divides the Cu into the following two parts:friction strength(C_(uf))and original structural strength(C_(u0)).C_(uf)characterizes the magnitude of friction between soil particles, which is related to the consolidation stress.Meanwhile,C_(u0)represents the structural effect on soil strength, which is related to the soil deposition and consolidation processes.SSM was validated by the test data of undisturbed soils. Results reveal that the undisturbed soil generally had a certain C_(u0).Therefore,the SRS strength model was established by combining the experimental law of SRS with SSM.Error analysis shows that the SRS strength model can effectively predict the Cu of undisturbed SRS in Tianjin Port under different consolidation conditions.

文摘Estimation of construction parameters is crucial for optimizing tunnel construction schedule.Due to the influence of routine activities and occasional risk events, these parameters are usually correlated and imbalanced. To solve this issue,an improved bidirectional generative adversarial network(BiGAN)model with a joint discriminator structure and zero-centered gradient penalty(0-GP)is proposed. In this model,in order to improve the capability of original BiGAN in learning imbalanced parameters, the joint discriminator separately discriminates the routine activities and risk event durations to balance their influence weights. Then, the self-attention mechanism is embedded so that the discriminator can pay more attention to the imbalanced parameters. Finally, the 0-GP is adapted for the loss of the discrimi-nator to improve its convergence and stability.A case study of a tunnel in China shows that the improved BiGAN can obtain parameter estimates consistent with the classical Gauss mixture model, without the need of tedious and complex correlation analysis. The proposed joint discriminator can increase the ability of BiGAN in estimating imbalanced construction parameters, and the 0-GP can ensure the stability and convergence of the model.

文摘Dynamic tensile failure is a common phenomenon in deep rock practices, and thus accurately evaluating the dynamic tensile responses of rocks under triaxial pressures is of great significance. The Brazilian disc(BD)test is the suggested method by the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering(ISRM)for measuring both the static and dynamic tensile strengths of rock-like materials. However, due to the overload phenomenon and the complex preloading conditions, the dynamic tensile strengths of rocks measured by the BD tests tend to be overestimated. To address this issue, the dynamic BD tensile strength(BTS)of Fangshan marble(FM)under different preloading conditions were measured through a triaxial split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB).The fracture onset in BD specimen was captured through a strain gage around the disc center. The discrepancy between the traditional tensile strength(TTS,determined by the peak load P_(f) of the BD specimen)and the nominal tensile strength(NTS,obtained from the load P_(i) when the diametral fracture commences in the tested BD specimen)was applied to quantitatively evaluating the overload phenomenon. The Griffith criterion was used to rectify the calculation of the tensile stress at the disc center under triaxial stress states. The results demonstrate that the overload ratio(s)increases with the loading rate(σ)and decreases with the hydrostatic pressure(σ_(s)).The TTS corrected by the Griffith criterion is independent of theσ_(s)due to the overload phenomenon, while the NTS corrected by the Griffith criterion is sensitive to both the andσ.Therefore,it is essential to modify the tensile stress in dynamic confined BD tests using both the overload correction and the Griffith criterion rectification to obtain the accurate dynamic BTS of rocks.

文摘Engineering disasters(e.g.rock slabbing and rockburst)of the tunnel groups induced by the transient excavation of an adjacent tunnel threaten the stability of the existing tunnel, especially for those excavated by using the drill and blast tunneling(D&B).However, the dynamic response and failure mechanism of surrounding rocks of the existing tunnel caused by adjacent transient excavation are not clear due to the difficulty in conducting field tests and laboratory experiments. Therefore,a novel transient unloading experimental system for deep tunnel excavation was proposed in this study. The real stress path and the unloading rate can be reproduced by using this proposed system. The experiments were conducted for observing the dynamic response of the existing tunnel induced by adjacent transient excavation under different lateral pressure coefficients l(?0.4,0.6,0.8,1,1.2,1.4,1.6,1.8)with a polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)specimen. The propagation of the impact wave and unloading surface wave was detected through the digital image correlation(DIC)analysis. The reflection of the unloading surface wave on the incident side of the existing tunnel(tunnel-E)was observed and analyzed. Moreover, the dynamic characteristics of the stress redistribution, the particle displacement and vibration velocity of surrounding rocks of tunnel-E were analyzed and summarized. In addition, the Mohr-Coulomb(MeC)failure criterion with tension cut-off was adopted to evaluate the stability of the existing tunnel under adjacent transient excavation. The results indicate that the incident side of the existing tunnel under the dynamic disturbance of transient excavation of an adjacent tunnel was more prone to fail, followed by the shadow side and the top/bottom side.

文摘Complicated geological structures make it difficult to analyze the stability of rock slopes, such as faults, weak intercalated layers or joint fissures. The obtained results on the key blocks or block-groups provide essential information for determining potential instable region of rock slopes and designing effective support scheme in advance.

文摘In this study, a morphodynamic numerical model is established with the Regional Ocean Modeling System(ROMS)to investigate the transient behavior of sand waves under realistic sea conditions. For the mild conditions, i.e., the pure tidal current and minimum combination cases, the sand waves migrate less, but the heights continue growing due to the dominant bedload transport.

文摘Crack initiation stress and crack damage stress are two critical indices for assessing the fracture strength of rock mass. However, understanding the stress characteristics of crack initiation and damage under triaxial compression remains still immature. To address this problem,by acoustic monitoring,i.e.ultrasonic wave transmission and acoustic emission(AE),the integrated triaxial compression experiments were carried out on granitic specimens. The crack initiation and damage stresses were determined by wave velocity, wave amplitude and AE methods, respectively. The discrepancy of stresses for crack initiation and damage identified by these methods were examined. Results showed that the confinement affected the peak stress and corresponding strain, and these two parameters increased with increasing confining pressure. The ultrasonic wave velocity and wave amplitude first increased and then remained relatively stable, and finally decreased with increasing axial compressive stress. The number of AE events stayed at a relatively low extent until axial stress approached the peak;after that, the AE accumulative counts skyrocketed to the maximum. It also shows that for a given confinement, the stresses for crack initiation and damage identified by the wave amplitude method were the smallest, followed those by AE method and wave velocity method. Moreover, the stresses for crack initiation and crack damage identified by these methods increased generally with confining pressures. However, the rate of increment of these two crack stresses decreased with increasing confining pressure. In addition, the slight decrease in these two crack stresses ratios was noticed with increasing confining pressure. The findings are helpful to understand the crack stresses of deep rocks,in terms of support of deep underground engineering.

文摘The deformation characteristics of the cavity due to droplet impact on a water surface are experimentally investigated.Dimensional analysis shows that the characteristic values of time, depth, and horizontal diameter can be taken as 10^(-3)times the ratio of surface tension to the product of viscosity coefficient and gravitational acceleration, the maximum depth, and the maximum horizontal diameter, respectively. The evolutions of the dimensionless cavity sizes for different values of Weber number(We)coincide for 220<We<686.A partial-sphere model of cavity is established based on experimental observations.Energy models are then derived, and the energy conversions are calculated to identify the relationship between these conversions and cavity deformation. It is found that the kinetic energy model established under the hypothesis proposed by Leng is no longer applicable when the dimensionless time t^(*)<3.5,owing to deviations from the geometric model.

文摘The platform with bucket foundations can penetrate and migrate by underpressure/positive pressure technique caused by pumping water out/in the bucket. However, the construction process of bucket foundations cannot be clearly observed and effectively controlled due to the special nature of sea environment. By using an advanced simulation development tool of Multigen Creator, the visual construction simulation program for the platform with bucket foundations was developed to set up the virtual reality system with interaction control and observation in every view angle based on the secondary development technology of Vega platform. The application results show that the method is feasible and effective by simulating the whole construction process for the platform with four bucket foundations.

文摘The unprecedented rate of metro construction has led to a highly complex network of metro lines.Tunnels are being overlapped to an ever-increasing degree. This paper investigates the deformation response of double-track overlapped tunnels in Tianjin,China using finite element analysis(FEA)and field monitoring, considering the attributes of different tunneling forms. With respect to the upper tunneling, the results of the FEA and field monitoring showed that the maximum vertical displacements of the ground surface during the tail passage were 2.06 mm,2.25 mm and 2.39 mm obtained by the FEA,field monitoring and Peck calculation, respectively;the heaves on the vertical displacement curve were observed at 8 m(1.25D,where D is the diameter of the tunnel)away from the center of the tunnel and the curve at both sides was asymmetrical.Furthermore, the crown and bottom produce approximately0.38 mm and 1.26 mm of contraction, respectively. The results of the FEA of the upper and lower sections demonstrated that the tunneling form has an obvious influence on the deformation response of the double-track overlapped tunnel.Compared with the upper tunneling, the lower tunneling exerted significantly less influence on the deformation response, which manifested as a smaller displacement of the strata and deformation of the existing tunnel. The results of this study on overlapped tunnels can provide a reference for similar projects in the future.

文摘Any tidal defense engineering involves the collection and analysis of massive information about engineering structures and their surrounding environment. Models of different objects were established with different modeling techniques according to their characteristics. Application of texture mapping technology remarkably improved the authenticity of the models. Taking the tidal defense engineering in the new coastal region of Tianjin as a case study, three-dimensional visual simulation and dynamic roaming of the study area were realized, providing visual analysis and visible demonstration method for the management and emergency decision-making associated with construction.

文摘In this paper, the multi-body coupled dynamic characteristics of a semisubmersible platform and an HYSY 229 barge were investigated.First, coupled hydrodynamic analysis of the HYSY 229 barge and the semisubmersible platform was performed.Relevant hydrodynamic parameters were obtained using the retardation function method of three-dimensional frequency-domain potential flow theory. The results of the hydrodynamic analysis were highly consistent with the test findings, verifying the accuracy of the multifloating hydrodynamic coupling analysis, and key hydrodynamic parameters were solved for different water depths and the coupling effect.According to the obtained results, the hydrodynamic influence was the largest in shallow waters when the coupling effect was considered.Furthermore, the coupled motion equation combined with viscous damping, fender system, and mooring system was established, and the hydrodynamics, floating body motion, and dynamic response of the fender system were analyzed.Motion analysis revealed good agreement among the surge, sway, and yaw motions of the two floating bodies. However, when the wave period reached 10 s,the motion of the two floating bodies showed severe shock, and a relative motion was also observed. Therefore, excessive constraints should be added between the two floating bodies during construction to ensure construction safety. The numerical analysis and model test results of the semisubmersible platform and HYSY 229 barge at a water depth of 42 m and sea conditions of 0°,45°,and 90° were in good agreement, and the error was less than 5%.The maximum movement of the HYSY 229 barge reached 2.61 m in the sway direction, whereas that of the semisubmersible platform was 2.11 m.During construction, excessive constraints should be added between the two floating bodies to limit their relative movement and ensure construction safety.
