The article takes the course “Introduction to Basic Principles of Marxism” as an example to explore the reform mode of “online and offline blended teaching” in ideological and political theory courses in universities from the aspects of reasonable allocation of class hours, design of online teaching activities, how to deepen classroom teaching offline, and diversified assessment modes. Nominalization refers to the process of producing a noun from another part of speech or the derivation of a noun phrase from an underlying clause.In order to fulfill the specific analysis of nominalization in business English contract,a corpus has been created with typical contracts.Based on a self-built business contract corpus,aspects of English nominalization,including its frequency of use,meaning selection and discourse position and function,have been examined.This study has found that nominalization is one of the most important characteristics of business contracts,and English nominalization can function mainly to improve the conciseness,formality,objectivity,and cohesiveness of the discourse.Meanwhile,the different characteristics of nominalization require different translation strategies and methods.The findings of this study may have implications for the business English teaching and translation. 展开更多

“Citizenship”as a concept was put forward by scholars,once city-states emerged in ancient Greece.Following Aristotle and Plato,many other scholars and thinkers made their contributions to this concept by expounding,... “Citizenship”as a concept was put forward by scholars,once city-states emerged in ancient Greece.Following Aristotle and Plato,many other scholars and thinkers made their contributions to this concept by expounding,analyzing and further developing it.However,it did not turn into a systematical discourse until Marshall.Marshall’s perception therefore,served as a starting point and a model for a number of scholars thereafter.According to Marshal,citizenship can be understood in three dimensions,covering political right,social right and civic right.Without any doubt,Marshall’s notion of citizenship focuses on rights,leaving a citizen’s obligation untouched,for which Marshall was criticized and attacked by scholars.However due to limitation of space,this issue is not to be further discussed.Besides,as a result of emigrants from one country to another,citizenship as a concept more concerned with national boundary gets more complex and vaguer.Under this backdrop,a number of scholars and researchers proposed the fourth dimension,it is suggested that besides the 3 above mentioned rights,a fourth right should be added,which is culture right.Based on the notion and theories of culture rights and theories regarding the difficulty and dilemma confronted by emigrants,whether they immigrate out of their own wish or being forced to,the author aims to analyze Simon-a character in Coetzee’s(himself an emigrant from South Africa to Australia)novel The Childhood of Jesus(2013)and his cultural identity dilemma.Following from this analysis,the conclusion on the unlikeliness or feasibility of culture citizenship then is to be made. 展开更多

Young female English teachers in independent college have dealt with a range of emotions over their research careers,which have influenced their research cognition and professional growth.This narrative case study purposefully selected two young female English instructors in an independent university as participants.Semi-structured interviews,narrative frames,and log records were used to look into their dynamic emotional experiences in research,ecological and environmental elements affecting their emotions,and the regulating strategies.This study gives the following three primary results:the participants transitioned from positive to negative to mostly positive emotions;there was a complicate combination of positive and negative emotions in their research growth with the positive emotions dominating;two kinds of regulating tactics are presented. 展开更多

The study first analyzes the conceptions of “whereness” and still point, proposing the water face as the satisfactory means to achieve it on the basis of analyzing Thoreau’s Walden, then in a comparative way this paper examines several texts concerning the experiences and representations of physical and spiritual contacts with running water like rivers or still water like lakes, among which the texts concerning the English lakes are given main attentions. The study finds that the preferable mode of experiencing and representing lake denotes the universality and should be adopted more. 展开更多

This paper demonstrates the implementation of flipped classroom in a private university and explicitly interprets the three major resisting forces that undermine the application of flipped classroom in college English teaching.Based on in-depth analysis of voices from different stakeholders,it is illustrated that administrators in the focal institution lack a clear mission of external adaptation and should be more aware of hearing different voices instead of forcing the policy.As for teachers,they are used to traditional teaching delivery and fear for technology challenge and the possibility of being substituted by technology,moreover,they do not have the initiative to make innovation in tech-based teaching approaches.In terms of students,due to their lack of independent learning ability and their dependence on teacher-centered classroom context,it is challenging to change their awareness and accept the flipped classroom.Based on the situation,it is suggested in the paper that stakeholders should adapt their mindset to the external changes,and leaders in the school need to model the way of the flipped classroom and inspire a shared vision so that it creates psychological safety for its members to try new things. 展开更多
