Correcting Image Distortion for Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive cruise control, as a common solution for traffic safety, lias extended from radars to cameras. Due to high mobility of vehicles and unevenness of roads, the picture quality of cameras has been great challenges for camera-based adaptive cruise control. In this paper, an image distortion correction algorithm is addressed. Our method is based on optical flow technology which is normally applied in motion estimation and video compression research. We are the first to attempt to adapt it in image distortion correction. Two optical flow approaches, the Lucas-Kanade method and the Horn-Schunck method, are selected and compared. The procedure of image distortion correction using the optical flow method has been tested by both synthetic test images and camera images. The experimental results show that the Lucas-Kanade method is more suitable in the correction of image distortion. 展开更多

In this paper,we investigate the Lagrangian coherent structures(LCSs)and their heat-transport mechanism in turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard(RB)convection.Direct numerical simulations(DNS)are performed in a closed square cell with Rayleigh numbers(Ra)ranging from 10^(6) to 10^(9) and Prandtl(Pr)number fixed at Pr=0.7.First,our results show the power-law relationship between Nusselt number(Nu)and Ra,Nu=0.99Ra^(0.30±0.02),confirming the results from previous studies.To gain insights into the material transport,LCSs are extracted using the finite-time Lyapunov exponent(FTLE)method.Interestingly,lobe structures are widely present,and we elucidate their role in transporting heat from the corner rolls to large-scale circulation.Next,the relationships between LCSs and thermal plumes are examined,and we identify two behaviors of thermal plumes:first,most plumes transport along the LCSs;second,few plumes are exposed to the bulk and subsequently mix with the turbulent background.Furthermore,we quantify the heat flux along the LCSs,which contributes to about 85%of the total flux regardless of Ra.This suggests that LCSs play a significant role in heat transport.Finally,the viscous(thermal)dissipation rate along the LCSs is quantified,which is larger than 80%(60%)of the total value,suggesting that LCSs are responsible for the large viscous and thermal dissipations. 展开更多

Transformerless grid-connected inverters offer greater efficiencies when transferring power from renewable energy sources to the electrical grid.If the grid-inverter connection is done with an LCL filter,high attenuation of switching harmonics is achieved while preserving a small-size output filter.However,damping must be included in the controller to assure closed-loop stability.This paper proposes a reference computation methodology for the inverter-side current feedback in a photovoltaic(PV)generation system connected to the grid through an LCL filter.Theoretical analysis of the closed-loop system stability and of the steady-state performance are presented as well as experimental validation of the closed-loop performance.The feedback controller includes active damping and relies on a resonant control structure which improves the ability of dealing with grid harmonic distortion.The controller uses a reduced set of measurements,which requires the inverter-side current and grid voltage only,and assures a power factor close to unity. 展开更多
