Background:Maternal mortality is a prevalent issue in healthcare provision worldwide. It is particularly common in developing and underdeveloped countries, where maternal deaths during childbirth or pregnancy occur frequently.Various internal and external factors contribute to the high maternal mortality rate in specific regions. One model, known as the three delays model approach, examines three distinct causes that contribute to this problem. The first delay is the lack of awareness in seeking timely healthcare, the second delay involves obstacles in reaching healthcare facilities on time, and the third delay relates to poor or inadequate healthcare provision in tertiary care facilities. These delays are responsible for the elevated maternal mortality rates, with the prevalence of each delay varying across regions. Objective:The objective of this literature review is to examine and critically evaluate existing literature on perceptions and investigations regarding maternal mortality in Southeast Asia,Europe and Africa, utilizing the three delays model approach as a categorization framework.Method:This literature review followed BEME guide No.3.A total of 18 articles were included in the sample after conducting a thorough search of various databases and search engines.A Prisma flowchart was created, and the articles were critically appraised. Results:A total of 18 articles focusing on different regions were analyzed. The findings revealed that in countries of Southeast Asia, the primary cause of maternal mortality is the first delay, which refers to the lack of awareness in seeking medical care.On the other hand,in Africa and other European countries, the second and third delays are more prominently associated with maternal mortality. Conclusion:Inadequate care is one of the major causes of maternal mortality in majority of regions acrossthe globe.Multiple factors can hinder access to appropriate healthcare. The three delays model plays a significant role in the higher maternal mortality rate.By raising awareness among women and their families about the importance of seeking healthcare, the risk of fatality can be reduced.Similarly,in developing regions,it is crucial to ensure that healthcare facilities are easily accessible and provide high-quality emergency obstetric care to meet the needs of pregnant women in critical situations. 展开更多

Background In order to prevent the widespread spread of COVID-19,a physical distancing program has been implemented, where it is necessary to maintain a distance of at least 6 feet between individuals.COVID-19 spreads mainly among people who have been in close contact for a prolonged period. This study aims to make it easier for nurses to provide nursing care to families experiencing COVID-19.New health problems have made it difficult for nurses to provide care, and thus this model was developed to assist nurses in providing care[1].The effectiveness of family nursing care during the social distancing period will be analyzed using one-way analysis of variance for measurements I,II,III,and IV.The effectiveness of providing family nursing care with a focus on meeting the family’s basic needs and quality of life can be assessed by comparing measurements at the beginning and end of coaching every month using a paired t-test.To prepare a family health promotion model during the COVID-19 social distancing period,a factor analysis will be carried out using both explanatory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis through struqtural equation model testing. 展开更多

Background:The establishment of Saudi Vision 2030 has led to a shift from obstetric care to midwifery-led care in maternity care, giving rise to planned home birth(PHB).This study may enable midwives to carry out PHB and achieve the goals of the Saudi health vision. The general aim is to explore Saudi midwives’attitudes towards the PHB,opportunities and challenges associated with PHB implementation in Saudi Arabia. Methods:We employed a qualitative study design and conducted interviews using open-ended questions with 19 Saudi midwives recruited from thirteen health regions.Thematic analysis was manually performed to analyze the qualitative data. Results:Thematic analysis revealed seven major themes:midwives as care providers in PHB,health institutions, academic institutions, national policy for PHB,Women’s health status,socio-economic and physical environment suitability, and maternal and neonatal health outcomes. However,Saudi midwives would exhibit a favorable attitude towards PHB if decision-makers from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education addressed the challenges and promoted opportunities for providers, organizations, and the population. Conclusion:The findings of the thematic analysis shed light on several positive aspects, including job opportunities and high financial incomes for midwives. However, they also revealed challenges such as a shortage of midwifery staff,a scarcity of midwifery academic programs, and an ineffective administrative support system for midwives.Integrating both sets of findings enhances the understanding of the challenges and opportunities of planned home birth in Saudi Arabia from various perspectives, capturing the breadth and depth of the obtained data. 展开更多

Objective:Several studies have shown that women are more satisfied with midwife-led care. However, their awareness regarding the midwives’roles was inadequate. The effect of the women’s awareness on their preferences for maternity care from health professionals has not been understood. To identify research findings presenting women’s awareness of midwives’roles and preferences for receiving maternity care from health professionals. Methods:The systematic literature review used various electronic search engines, including SCOPUS,PubMed,ScienceDirect, and Cochrane Library. Also, other grey literature sources, including Google Scholar, were utilized to identify articles. The search included only English language articles published between 2017-2021.Results:This search provided 20 studies that fulfil the inclusion criteria and are relevant to the Population,Intervention,Comparison, and Outcomes question. The knowledge of midwives’role among the public is well studied in the literature, and few papers(4 studies)focused on women’s perceptions. The review of existing literature indicated the midwifery workforce in Arab countries like Saudi Arabia, the impact of midwives’role on maternal and child health outcomes, women’s experiences regarding midwife-led care, women’s knowledge and perception regarding the role of the midwife in maternal care, and the womens’preference for midwifes’role within the range of maternal care professionals. Conclusion:The review found a lack of awareness and knowledge among the public about the midwife’s role, particularly among women.According to evidence, women’s preferences for choosing health professionals for maternity care primarily depend on being informed about their care, being given care options, and the health professionals’comprehension of their particular care needs. 展开更多

Background:Conflict among nurses often has an undesirable effect on their work. Thus, understanding the predictable causes of conflict helps in dealing with it at an early stage, preventing negative consequences that may impact nurses’performance, ultimately affecting the quality of care and patient safety. This study aimed to explore the sources of conflict and how Saudi nurses in Taif deal with conflicts in hospitals.Method:A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using the semi-structured interview method to collect data from 17 Saudi nurses working in 3 hospitals in the city of Taif from September 2022 to January 2023.Ethical approval was obtained from the Research and Studies Department at the Directorate of Health Affairs in Taif(IRB registration number with King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology,KSA:HAP-02-T-067,approval number:720 on 10/08/2022).Results:The data revealed two main themes:firstly, conflicts arising among nurses, which can be categorized into two sub-themes:lack of awareness in work policies and procedures, and lack of communication;secondly, preemptive strategies for dealing with conflicts.Three sub-themes emerged in this regard:identifying conflict sources in advance, conducting regular meetings to enhance communication, and increasing awareness of policies and regulations while adhering to them. Conclusion:Conflict negatively impacts the quality of nursing care. Therefore,it is crucial to implement preventive and early measures, such as improving communication among nurses and enhancing awareness of policies and procedures,to address the ambiguities that lead to workplace conflict. 展开更多
